This place is an absolute gem! I brought a dress and pair of white pants (had rust stains on them from hanging on a metal hanger in the garage for too long whoops lol) with some hope but no expectation of them being able to completely remove the stain. They were very honest that they might not be able to get the stains out but would try their best. Totally reasonable. When I went to pick up my clothes on (same day service! whooo!) the stains were completely gone! It was like I had a whole new pair of pants. Suffice to say, I was super pleased. These were my favorite pair of dress pants and they were not cheap so this cleaner saved me money and emotional distress. I still get my dry cleaning done here regularly. They are very friendly and always do a good job. Usually they can do alterations and get my dry cleaning done in about two days. A few months ago I noticed that several of the buttons on my sweater had chipped during the cleaning process. I understand; these things happen. I brought two suits in to get cleaned and i needed them next day. so i took my pooch for a quick walk to drop em off. once i got there, they immediately asked me what i needed and by when. they took the suits, took my information and handed me my receipt. So I was standing there, expecting a refund, but was surprised when she said "$19". I told her I already paid, gave her my receipt, and she told me they HAND-WRITE if the customer paid or not. This review is for alterations only. However, after what they did to my garment, there's no way I'd send any cleaning their way. I brought them my brand new tuxedo vest to be taken in a size or two and these guys pretty much butchered it. They opened the center seam down the back to take some material in and must have given it to whoever was in their first day of training to close it back up. It was crooked, and pinched the fabric all down the vest. Threads were spaced way too far apart, and the press job they did on the vest just amplified the poor work. If this was a Men's Warehouse $22.95 special, I wouldn't be too concerned, but this is a really nice Nordstrom piece that cost about ten times that. I brought it back upon discovering the problem and the woman behind the counter, to her credit, seemed a bit concerned, and re-pressed it for me. That just made the seam look even more crooked. No dice, this is the vest I'm wearing on my wedding day and it's gonna be perfect. She offered to have it done over, but no way am I going to let them touch this one again. They can have my 25 bucks. I'm really hoping they left enough fabric to have it done right by an expert. read more

I walked in a Thursday at 8:30am to drop off 4 pieces of dry cleaning, noticed the sign outside that says that if you drop off your dry cleaning from 7 to 9am you'll get 20% off so I was stoked about it. I come back the next day to pick it up and I didn't really notice a discount on my receipt, so I told the lady if my discount was applied, she took a look at my receipt and after a few seconds of silence she told me "Oh, the computer has not been changed to Daylight Saving Time so it was actually 9:30 when I dropped off my clothes the day prior" - I let her know that I was pretty sure that IT WAS 8:30 when I walked in... and she ended up giving me the discount. My clothes were perfectly well done/pressed but I don't appreciate dishonesty, 20% off might not be a lot but if you have a huge sign outside advertising a certain product/promo don't try and sneak away from it. I would highly suggest to point out that you're dropping off the clothes between certain time to make sure to get your discount. read more

I was debating a 4 or 5 star review, but kicked in the extra because the low reviews here from previous reviewers seem totally unwarranted to me. The cleaning has always been fine, service has always been professional, the billing has always been correct, etc. No language issues. This is a good, dependable, cleaner. If the other reviews scare you off, as they almost did me, just take them with a grain of salt and start off using these guys with something short of your entire Armani wardrobe...then assuming all goes well, build up from there. read more

This is my all time fav go to dry cleaning and tailor/alterations spot!!! They are friendly, efficient, and provide high quality work. For Halloween it took the tailor only 2 days and usually they ask if I need dry cleaning to be done within 2 days but I tend to plan ahead so I've only requested a rush order once. Just your standard dry cleaners. I want to know how they went above and beyond and represent the best in the city to deserve a 5 star rating? Took some pants here to fix a tear about 4" long. I tried to fix it myself with no luck and realized that I would just make it look worse. They said the pants would be ready the next day after 4pm. I showed up at 5pm and they were still being worked on. They said come back in 30 minutes... I just told them I wasnt in a hurry and I would come back the following day. The next day they were ready and it was only $10. Btw I have not tried them on yet so I dont know the extent of the repair nor the quality, but it looks good. Could they have called me to say they were running late to save me a trip... yes! Could they clean up their front room to make it look more presentable... yes! Could they be more customer focused and genuine...yes! Meeting all of these things would bring it to a 4-5 star cleaner... but yet again its just average. read more

This is for wash and fold. They're more expensive than just about any other place and it's like our laundry was sorted by a crazy person. Socks and underwear everywhere sifted through t-shirts. My boyfriend wears a large men's size and I'm a small women's size and all our laundry came back essentially mixed together. Socks not matched. Socks not even all put in the same place. His underwear were laced through my t-shirts. One t-shirt, two men's underwear, three t-shirts one pair of men - it's like they folded them as they pulled them out. WHO PUTS THEIR LAUNDRY AWAY LIKE THAT? I get my laundry wash and folded as a TIMESAVER so I can put it away easily. Upwards of $100 for two bags of laundry. I was told $1.50 a lb for wash and fold with a 15 lb min. Cool I threw in a bathroom mat at the last second to make it 15 lbs even. Also took in a couple of vest at $6 each. Went to pick up and without blinking a eye - "that 37 dollars."WHAT! I was informed they had to clean the mat separately for a additional 10 dollars. The mat only coast $7.00! To add insult to injury the mat didn't even look clean. Lesson Learned. read more

Prices may be a bit higher than other SF dry cleaners since they get the job done very quickly, but if you're in a rush, this is definitely the place to go to! read more

I went to pick up two silk blouses that not only have the original stains, the light colored blouse has an additional 10 small star shaped grey stains. I spoke with both owners who said they spent '3 hours' on the stains (seriously?) and denied creating the new ones. I had gone over the stains on the garments with the owner when dropping them off to make sure each was identified. In the end, I now have two blouses that are worse than when they were dropped off -- one potentially ruined. read more

Gosh, a good laundry is hard to find. Of course, they write on your brand-new button-down shirts with a big black marker. I'm used to that by now. Then they gave me somebody else's shirt, which I brought back. Then, they lost a shirt of mine, and refused to reimburse me. They were "sorry." I saw a woman fly off the handle when they gave her another person's jacket, and said, "That's OK. Pay later." The next time I went in, they sewed a button on for me -- sewing the pocket shut. This would be forgiven in a busy laundry if they would stop LAUGHING every time an error is made. It's not fucking funny -- I just want my clothes cleaned AND returned. read more

I've tried many cleaners and this one is not the cheapest, but I like them because: They're totally computerized so I don't have to remember my ticket; they DONT write on your shirts - they put a tab through your button hole; they remember my name. I have been coming to this cleaners for 2 years now. I must say that I have no complaints. I dont understand why the previous reviews are so low. The owners have always been very friendly and sweet. Last week I was running late from work and i called in to ask if they could stay open for an extra 30 mins and THEY DID! I LOVE my dry cleaner. How many people do you know can say that? if you bring in your clothes between 7-9 am you get a 20% discount. Make sure that they write 20% on your pick up ticket though, sometimes they forget. But they always do a great job. They note on your clothing if they had difficulty removing a stain and shirts are nicely pressed and moderately starched. And re: Billy A's review...most good cleaners write your name on your button down shirts, and perhaps they are laughing because they are nervous (Psst! They are Korean!). read more

Not sure why there are this many negative reviews on this place. I've been going there off and on for 10+ years. They have always been friendly and my clothes always come out great. I can't think of a time they have lost anything, but I'm sure if they did, they handled it well. Otherwise, I'd remember. They aren't the cheapest DC in SF but they aren't the most expensive by any means and considering the location, I expect to pay a premium especially for quality. They've been operating in the heart of THE CASTRO for 20 years. That has got to tell you something. Okay. so here's the deal... I've used this dry cleaner before with little to no problems in the past. An occasional lost shirt (which was found & returned two weeks later), inconvenient yes but, in the larger scheme of life, not so terrible.... So, I took in a shirt/pullover that was brand new, worn once and had picked up a couple of "baby" stains (spit up) not such a big deal right?! Well, when I picked it up, not only were the stains still there, the front of the pullover (where the stains were) was about three shades lighter then the rest of the garment. They couldn't tell me why this had happened (bleach anyone?) and told me that because the garment had already been worn (again, for the 1st time) they could only reimburse me for less than half of the purchase price (I had and you should too, brought in the receipt from the purchase) less the tax paid.... Then I was informed that since they were reimbursing me the "half", I was not entitled to reimbursement for the cost of the botched cleaning.... Now, I've been a customer for over five years and this is "the best we can do"... If you're a first time customer, take this information and do what you think best. As for me, I'm looking for a new dry cleaner to spend my hard earned cash with and where they actually appreciate and wish to keep a long time customer. I'm just sayin'.... read more

This is my dry cleaners. I go to them with 1-5 items for drycleaning every week, and probably 6-10 items per yeaer for alterations. They're close, convenient, friendly, family owned. They actually listen when I talk to them, remember me as a regular, and have always seemed to me to want to do a good job. I've taken many alterations there and while they're not like a downtown tailor, that's not why I go to them. There are downtown tailors for really good or complex stuff, and family dry cleaners who do alterations for regular stuff. One costs a lot (and comes with a lot of attitude), the other costs more than I'd like to pay, but I don't have to take a bus, park, or do it myself (which I'm just too lazy to do). It's true, my limited experience with stain removal is that it is not their forte, but then, stains are a challenge in general, so I don't worry too much about it, I just give careful instructions (like, no bleach or strong stuff -- I don't want to make it worse, etc.). I look at it as they're doing something I could do if I wanted to, I'm just paying them to do it for me. They don't have a majic wand or anything. If that seems excessive to you, then try the French cleaners down the street (the one with the wedding dress in the window). They're quite expensive, and never talk to me at all, either because they don't want to or can't (in English), or a little of both. I've taken my down comforters, nice work pants, jeans and even a suit jacket or two to One Hour and they have helped me decide what was possible, how good it would or wouldn't work, and told me in advance how much it would cost. I also hate to remember my "slip" unless I've already paid -- so they remember my phone number every time I come in, without my even asking. If I have already paid (because, for instance, my partner will pick it up for me), I make sure it says paid on the receipt and I am then quite motivated to bring it back in with me, because I don't want any hassles. Thanks for the tip about the magic marker and shirts. I think I recall that some laundries typically do something like this, so maybe you were just not advised about it. I've only taken one thing to them for laundry and ironing, which they did just fine (with no marks). I think it's good to have a "toolbox" of services like dlry cleaners and bakeries and hairdressers, for example, so that you can go to a fancy place when you need or want it, and other places when you don't. One Hour never seems to have a shortage of happy regulars in their shop on Saturdays, so you might as well shop around if they're not a good "fit" for you. read more
