I had great futomaki here. Really really good, maybe the best I've had. I placed two orders for it and even considered another one. The ginger was not any good though. I rarely leave reviews and felt this was so needed. The ginger tasted like an old towel. Maybe, in their efforts to keep the kitchen clean, they used a smelly towel to dry the container ginger is stored in. I felt like I could taste the towel. I hope the restaurant looks into this. Even so, the futomaki was a hit. The place was busy with a constant influx of new customers. My guess is the sushi here is good. Come for sushi and bring your own ginger. I think One Piece Sushi is good if you are looking for cheap sushi that is slightly better than Trader Joe's sushi, but not much better than Japanese grocery store sushi. The menu is pretty basic. The waitstaff also does not speak much English. For example, when we tried to tell her of an allergy, it look a little back-and-forth; I would think English communication is a basic requirement for service. Not even a guess -_- but I can see why she couldn't really estimate it because people can keep ordering more through the tablet, so she wouldn't know when people would be finishing up. Yes - such a great feature to everything through the tablet (including beverages, getting your bill, etc.) Makes it very convenient. But we came on a Sunday night, and the wait took forever. Just for a party of two, we waited an hour. I understand the restaurant was a little small, but the wait for the food also took FOREVER. Even when I was standing in line, I noticed the tables were empty because the food took so long. My boyfriend said it looked like there was only one sushi chef in the back. We tried a little bit of everything because nothing on the menu was over $5 that I could remember. Single nigiri is only about $1.45-$1.95 per piece. Special rolls were less than $5. The beef bowl was $5! We also ordered onigiri, which I've been craving for as long as I could remember... The way it works: you are seated, you filter through the tablet and submit your order when you are ready. The food comes out as it is made, so there's a constant flow depending on how much you order. Your tab is open until you close it and a server will be out with your bill. When we came there was playaaaa parking right in front, you might get lucky too! I can't wait to come back. i live 40 minutes away but it's always worth the drive! during covid, you can either order directly on the yelp app or call to order - i chose to call and order and it was super easy. the person on the line repeated the complicated order back to me and got it all right when i went to pick it up. you order individual pieces of either sashimi or nigiri (raw fish+rice) and each piece ranges from $2-$4 (a STEAL!). they also have a variety of other rolls and other japanese foods like udon. the smoked salmon and eel nigiri are my personal faves but their raw fish taste fresh every time. can't beat the price either! read more

The hand rolls were also super good and cheap! My friend ordered the udon which was priced at $5 and she said the flavor was definitely there. There are iPad on each table for ordering, even for the hot tea. It is convenient for me. It may be difficult for people who are not good on iPad. There are two waiters who bring foods out and clean the table. Environment and atmosphere: 4. Tidy and clean. Not much decor. OverAll, it is a hidden treasures. Been meaning to update my review for this place for a while but keep forgetting! Since my last review, I've seen improvement in the rice quality a lot as well as other things too. I actually find myself revisiting this place at least once a week now for a quick sushi fix with my sister and without breaking a hole in my wallet! One thing I really REALLY love as of lately is their hamachi kama. For $8, they offer a hamachi kama that's the size of my hand! Bigger, meatier, and cheaper than a lot of other places that I've eaten at. The quality of the sashimi/nigiri has been very consistently fresh as well. My favorites as of date includes: - Nigiri: salmon, hamachi, scallop, cooked scallop, salmon belly, unagi, tsubugai (on occasion) - Apps: Giant Mussels, Hamachi Kama (!!), Gyu Don, Cajun Baby Scallops, Tuna Tataki - Maki: Hamachi, Salmon (great way to fill ya kids up and for $2 only!!!) I do wish they give more beef and onions for the Gyu Don though. For $5, I feel like I've been eating scraps only over tons of rice. :( Service is as always; efficient and attentive by the two twin sister waitresses! Parking is okay depending what time you come (can get pretty tough during dinner rush). I always come at 6ish and there's never a problem with finding parking or getting seated immediately. Once 6:45/7:00 rolls around, there will definitely be a bit of a wait but nothing unbearable... unless its freezing cold outside! (learned my lesson and never came later than 6:30 ever againnn). Was sort of weird to order through an iPad but love the fact that you can order just one piece of something, allowing for a good variety of sushi. Gotta be honest, I come here almost every two weeks. Im not sure why it's taken me this long to finally write a review. Probably my go-to place for sushi due to how close it is to my house and the quality of the fish for the price. It's not always super busy but dinner on weekends will require you to wait I would say up to ~15 minutes? Every table has a tablet where you can order on, which is pretty nice for people who don't really enjoy being social to their waiter/waitresses. It's Pretty easy to order, you have tabs of daily specials, rolls, Nigiri, etc. I usually just come for the nigiri because their price is pretty decent for the quality of the fish you get compared to a lot of Japanese restaurants. The price for sashimi or Nigiri is $1.45 and I think the premium fish ( daily special section) is about $2.45?- don't quote me on this, I'm not 100% on the price. Their daily specials usually are the same however sometimes they'll throw in uni or premium tuna into the specials. The fish portions are pretty big, basically two slices in one. My favorite is the seared salmon, the salmon belly, and hamachi. The seared salmon comes with a little bit of spicy mayo on top along with some crispy onions and the hamachi comes with ponzu sauce on top. Decided to find dinner in Millbrae before heading to the airport for a pickup and noticed this new sushi restaurant. Probably not that new but was new to me since the last time I was looking for something in Millbrae. I was really surprised with their selection, considering I was ordering off a tablet. I decided to try some specials and of course classics. The sushi quality was pretty good. At least right for the price. However...the rice was too hard. I almost wanted to just ditch the rice after the first piece but I didn't want to waste food so I just ate it. I really liked that they offered single piece nigiri so I was able to try a lot more different items. In terms of food and sushi quality, I have to say that it's far from good compared to a standard Japanese restaurant. You can taste the propane from the Seared Salmon nigiris. The Maki Rolls are mostly just rice instead of filling. The fish is also not good quality, but I guess you can't really expect much from a cheap place. The price tends to add up quick so be careful of how much you order, especially since the sushi isn't that big. Service is always friendly here, I frequently see the same owner that has a twin sister. Overall, I recommend coming here for a quick meal or to catch up with a friend. If you don't have a big appetite, this is also a good place to come to because you can simply order 3-piece rolls or get 2-piece nigiris. LET ME TELL YOU!! I found this place on an emergency sushi run, and I am not joking when I say this place is like a first aid kit during an emergency. I am a salmon gal and The salmon nigiri - HEAVENLY. I could write a 12-page paper on how good and fresh their salmon is. That buttery taste is there and I could not be more grateful. There is also such a nice variety of dishes, like udon, potstickers, onigiri, just to name a few. Ever since that first encounter, I have come back almost every week, and when I was on a roll, twice a week. When I say I am craving sushi, I really mean sushi specifically from here. I literally bring all of my friends here everytime we would hang out. No one asks me to pick a place to eat anymore because we always end up here. The workers are so nice and polite that you just wanna give them a big hug. Using tablets to order is so convenient. When you're hungry you don't want to make small talk with someone to take your order because let's face it, you're not you when you're hungry. The food is cheap, but you receive more than what you pay for. Parking is also a breeeze. I come here when I'm sad, happy, hungry, and bored. I am currently writing this in quarantine, hence the passion behind it. I know for a fact that this will be the first spot I'm hitting when this is all over. This is fun little spin on your typical sushi place. The place looks new and modern though a bit small so the restaurant can fill up fast. The tables on the side have a wall mounted tablet while you're just handed a tablet if you sit in the middle row of tables. True to it's name, you can indeed order one piece of sushi at a time. They have nigiri, sashimi, hand rolls, special rolls, maki, and much more. The program on the tablet is easy to use and usually has a description of what the item is. The pieces of raw fish are quite large and quite good quality. Their selection is a bit limited versus some other sushi places (i.e. they don't have toro) but what they have is made well. They also have some heftier items like donburi and udon to help fill you up if you don't want to spend too much on sushi itself. Lastly, there's a parking lot around the corner just a few yards down. Just make sure you read the signs cause different spots in the lot have different restrictions. read more

I want this place all to myself! Whenever I think a new spot is sooo good, I don't wanna tell anyone where it is! Haha A small spot hidden in millbrae, and parking can be tough when it's prime time. I love One Piece because you are in control of what you want to order from drinks-food on the tablet, and the rolls are small (3-4pieces) so it is enough to try a bunch and not waste much. The nigiri is pretty good quality compared to sushi buffets so I think it's definitely worth it. This will be my GO TO spot whenever i crave sushi! Sake and hamachi belly all the way! The only thing is it's a small place,and you can hear other people's conversation cause it's kind of quiet. Love the iPad ordering system at One Piece. It's super convenient and good for being able to order as you need to. For the price ($1.45-$5ish per item), the quality of the food is great. When we went, we ordered the seared salmon, salmon belly, clam, and scallop nigiri, along with 3 rolls, ankimo and a miso soup. My favorite was definitely the seared salmon. Our total came out to about $40 with tax, which was a pretty good deal. The sushi was fresh and the cuts were decent, though I prefer smaller cuts with my nigiri. Overall a solid sushi spot that I would probably frequent if it wasn't so far from where I live. You definitely get what you pay for, so please don't come in expecting top grade sushi or portions. read more

Fun dining experience! Everyone orders from a tablet conveniently located on their table. As the name implies, you order by piece, which makes it great for people like me who like to taste and try everything. It's just like in Japan when you order a plate of one or two pieces. You also have the option of ordering maki (6 small pieces of usually one item in rice and seaweed), or a roll of 3 or 4 (specialty) pieces, which comes out to $2 for regular rolls and $3 for special rolls. Which is pretty good, if you consider you can get a standard roll of 6-8 pieces for $6-8. My table praised the raw salmon for being fresh and having a good texture. Tea and water are included which is nice. Their prices on appetizers and desserts are also very reasonable. Sister got a matcha cheesecake slice ($2) and they also had black sesame. Love it when places have fun flavors! Everything's a nice portion to try and share, great for dining with friends. But also it's a good portion that get your money's worth, and decent quality. This used to be one of my favorite sushi places in the bay and it's still one of the top 5 but there have been days where the quality has not been superb. The 4 things that I always get are the seared sake, smoked sake, salmon belly and tai. Each piece is only $1.45 so it's a very good value. Rolls are $2 a piece and appetizers are $5 a piece. Service is really quick and they have an ordering system through ipads at each of the tables. Since their opening, the sizes have gotten smaller and smaller. Each item is about half the size as what it was in the beginning. I used to love getting their poke but now it's probably 3 small cubes of fish and the rest is lettuce. The taste is still great but I wouldn't waste $5 dollars on it. The sashimi/nigiris are amazing about 92% of the time and when they're good, they are melt in your mouth good. 8% of the time, the fish is chewy and you have no idea if its really smoked/seared or not. read more

You place your order on a tablet (including water!) and the workers bring out everything. If you wanna order more, you just place another order on the tablet. The UI of the menu could be better, but overall the process is easy & simple. Most nigiri pieces are $1.45 (1 order = ONE PIECE, get it?? Not two like most sushi restaurants usually serve.) Rolls were about $3 for three pieces. Other items are available on their specials menus like udon, side dishes, etc. The udon was quite good & a decent portion for $5. We ordered a bunch of different kinds of nigiri pieces and everything was so surprisingly good and fresh! Definitely recommend One Piece to satisfy your sushi cravings if you're in the area. This place is great because it allows you to try out multiple pieces of sushi and also provides a wide variety of bigger plates as well as hot plates. I had miso soup as well as the Philadelphia roll, tobiko nigri, unagi nigri, and strawberry mochi for dessert. Tobiko was new to me and I fell in love. The strawberry mochi was sweeter than mochi I've had from Whole Foods/Trader Joe's but I loved it! One thing to keep in mind is the relatively small space of the restaurant. When I got there on a Sunday at 5pm it was me, one large family, and one couple, but by 6pm the 11 tables were full and there was a wait outside so just be prepared.
