I decided to order collagen masks on Amazon that said Korean formula. 4 masks in and a super dry, red face later, I saw on the back in small print made in ROC. Ugh. Seriously Amazon? Never again. I'm sorry I cheated on you with Amazon, Greenland. I learned my lesson. I put 30 masks in my basket and headed for the deli. 30 masks?! Yep. They are only 89 cents, but here's the thing. Korean beauty products are held to a higher production quality standard than US beauty products. And that means I'm not going to have an allergic reaction. ROC means the ones I got from Amazon were actually made in China. Their standards are nowhere near Korean standards. Like I said- lesson learned. So I got $30 worth of masks and $30 worth of deli, and a couple Monster energy drinks for Adam. I have the ingredients to make my own cucumber salad at home, but Greenland's is so much better. I got yeolmu putnaechu- which tastes like bok choy kimchi to me. I grabbed stir fried fish cakes, which are long flat strips and are so sesame yummy. I got soybean sprouts, Korean glass noodle stir fry and kimbap. These are all serving size containers. If you love all of the little appetizers you get at a Korean restaurant - that's what these are. And they are wonderful. Take a look at the photos I took of the vegetables. They are super fresh and Greenland has some harder to find options. I looked for Asian pears, but they must not be in season. If you love Korean food, you need to go to Greenland. It's the cornerstone of our neighborhood in Chinatown.

There also doesn't appear to be a rewards or loyalty program, making the higher prices even harder to justify. The store layout was confusing and disorganized. It felt more like a swap meet than a grocery store, with missing or limited aisle signage that made it difficult to find what we were looking for. Finally, there was a small shop near the front of the store where an older employee was loudly talking with another employee, repeatedly using profanity throughout the conversation. I understood what they were saying, and part of the conversation involved making negative remarks about "foreigners". Whether it was intended as a joke or not, it was uncomfortable to hear while shopping and came across as very unprofessional, making the store feel far less welcoming. Will not be going back.

They have all of the brands I used to use in Thailand. Last year we bought all of the utensils needed to cook Thai food. So this time we only need the green pie, thai sausages, golden boy sauce, and dark sweet soy sauce. I don't know the names of half the bottles of sausages, I just recognize the labels. What I bought : Isarn cured sausages One large papaya (unripe - green) Fish sauce Dark sweet soy sauce Golden boy thin soy About $25 for everything so not bad. Lady at the counter was a bit shocked that I spoke to thai. And no, not just the normal greetings and stuff... after 10 years of living in Thailand it's still pretty good, This is definitely our go to spot. On the side, they have a deli counter.
