This is about the finest dining establishment in Waco. I took my fiancé, maid of honor and best man here a year ago right before our wedding and had a phenomenal experience. I just took my wife back today for our first anniversary. Coincidentally we were served by the same waitress as last year. Allie instantly remembered us and was both extremely professional while also being pleasantly friendly. Steaks are to die for. Mashed potatoes are creamy and gorgeous. This restaurant is terrible with covid protocols my waiter this tall blonde dude picked his nose and then grabbed my fork and knife and moved it out of the way to get my plates. We were celebrating a very special birthday and the restaurant knew this- but we added on a few extra people at the last minute so we had to sit outside for our meal- which would've been great since the weather was lovely- but we were seated next to the outdoor kitchen area (???) which is where it looked like they wash their dishes- which still would've been fine- IF they had any functioning lights!!! I, with my perfect 20/20 vision couldn't read the menu. Our server was a darling- he scrambled to find us one tiny lantern- which actually made a world of a difference. After that, the wait!!! Oh! the! wait! We had brought some very hungry college students with us who had to get back to school to study for tests so it was embarrassing watching them worry about getting back to their dorms to get some last minute work done. We thought about leaving several times and just getting them some fast food. Over an hour later our food was finally served. Ridiculous! The food was fantastic- but we had binged on appetizers and bottom of the barrel bread, so no one ate their entrees- everyone got a takeout box, not because their portions are big or anything- just because we filled ourselves with their bread. Not ones to ever refuse desserts- and since I had ordered the 4 course and I was getting dessert whether I liked it or not, we enjoyed what they had to offer- great, seasonal variety of desserts- they brought out a special crème brûlée with a candle for the birthday girl- which was nice. The three starts are for our server, Marcus for being great and trying to make our visit comfortable; he should be made manager. If you've experienced fine dining before, you will not be impressed with the atmosphere. However, you will pay like you're at Morton's, Ocean Prime, or Bond 45. The Cheesecake Factory has a better dining atmosphere than this place. The décor is outdated. There was no carpet on the floor where we were seated. The restaurant is in a shopping center. We were sat between two entrances (drafty, loud, generally not a great ambiance). We were so over this place we got our dessert to go (Crème Brule) in a foil paper D.I.Y. Bowl (they call this fine dining). The whole meal was $325. We had Calamari, Chateaubriand Dinner for Two, a side of potatoes, asparagus, and a couple of drinks. Again, the food was good but overpriced. This was not $325 worth of good food at a fine dining restaurant. Especially with the atmosphere. I would not recommend this place to anyone who has experienced fine dining before; if you don't know any better, you will settle for anything. I think that what this place is hoping. Don't waste your time or money here. If you're expecting or used to a true fine dining experience, I recommend driving to Dallas or Austin. read more

Suprisingly excellent! We had a graduation celebration at One Thirty Five Prime, and pulling up into the nondescript strip center I didn't anticipate much. The service was great! Our server was very knowledgeable and took great care of our party of four. We had a cup of the lobster bisque as an appetizer, which was really flavorful and not too creamy. The salads and the sides were great as well. One person in our party had the ahi tuna which was cooked to perfection. The remaining 3 of us all had steaks. One was supposed to be a medium rare filet mignon. It was over cooked and not very tender. Additionally, it was not very flavorful, prompting us to request steak sauce. The other two of us ordered medium rare ribeye steaks. Typically this cut of meat is marbled with a balance of fat and juicy tender meat, but not this time. Both of the ribeyes were slightly over cooked, extremely lean, lacked flavor, and were not very tender. We were extremely disappointed in the steaks especially because this was supposed to be a premier steak restaurant. The steaks were described as marbled wagyu and as cuts better than USDA Prime. We had mixed reviews. My husband had the steak and loved it. I had the Chilean sea bass that was undercooked. The soft drink machine didn't work so the soft drinks were flat. We waited for bread and didn't receive it until after our dinner was served, and we had to remind our waiter, who we rarely saw, that we wanted some. Wow! Absolutely phenomenal!!! One zeof the top 5 steaks I have ever had, perhaps #1 even. I had a NY strip 12 oz. Cooked perfectly as ordered, as well as the other three gents that dined with me. I reccomend the duck fat add on. The service matched the food with a topnotch staff that was all over making sure we had everything we needed. It's a little pricey, but worth every penny. Was glad I was not seated at one of the tables close to the kitchen (no door and loud noises occasionally coming from within the kitchen). Very efficient but did not take the time to explain anything on the menu and did not have the friendly kind of demeanor you would expect of a waiter at a high end restaurant like this. Grade: C Appetizer: Ordered the fried calamari and it was absolutely horrible. Very small pieces and over fried. Really should have sent it back. I have had better calamari from the freezer section of HEB. Grade: F Salad: Had the house salad and it also was disappointing. Very limp and soggy. Shocking considering the type of restaurant this is. Grade: D Entree: Blackened Yellow tail Snapper. This was the best part of the dinner but did not overly impress. The entree consisted of two smallish pieces of fish on top of rice and topped with an etoufee sauce. Nice flavor but the portion of actual fish was disappointing.
