Everyone who works at OneSpeed cares about the food and its customers and you feel it every time that you come in. The exciting thing about OneSpeed is that you can always count on the pizzas but you can also count on additional INTERESTING options depending on the season. This way, you can never think that you're just having the same ol' meal at your same ol' restaurant. OneSpeed knows how to keep you coming back for more. And, the beer selection! Wow! On a personal matter, I recently switched from horrible plastic straws to metal straws that I can keep re-using. I left a couple of my metal straws at OneSpeed and just figured I'd lost them. But, no! The incredibly kind and thoughtful folks at OneSpeed had set my straws aside and gave them to me when we were back there for dinner! Who does that?! Me and my family are clients for life! I wish I could give more stars! Every pizza I have eaten since going to One Speed is mediocre. One Speed's pizza is freshly made, and despite the carbs and cheese, I don't get that gross greasy feeling from eating typical pizza. I love the Garden Pizza. The ingredients are so fresh, and the pizza is a good size. I usually split it with another person. The ambiance of the place is fun, and I love the bike theme throughout the restaurants. Quality pizza for those who like a lot of toppings and a decently thick crust. read more

My daughter got the Spaghetti & meatballs. She ate them all and she's only 9, so that seems like a positive. I also got a s'mores like dessert that was really tasty. I was seated immediately, but then sat & waited a while even though the place wasn't crowded & I saw plenty of wait staff hovering about. Apparently, dining alone is too taboo. Maybe the staff thought I was waiting for someone? Either way, someone should have checked on me sooner. But finally, after a table of two was seated near me & waited on, a waitress came to my table. I got no apologies for the wait, but was able to place both my drink & entree order. The menu is simple, which is expected for a pizza place. There is a decent beer & wine selection. I had the house white, which was refreshing & crisp. I ordered the Margherita pizza, & didn't have to wait long. The pizza was perfectly cooked, hot, perfectly portioned with just the right amount of cheese & sauce. The crust was crisp and they will add fresh grated Parmesan cheese, which is a nice touch. After the initial delay, I had no problems, as the service was great. My water was refilled without asking, and the waitress checked on me several times. We are One Speed regulars, mostly take-out because toddlers. Spinach pie, pasta specials, their ridiculously tasty burger, fried brussel sprouts I order consistently because they are consistently excellent. Today though I had the house made pastrami (smoked then cured) on house made rye, little slather of quality mustard, house made pickles (I think). Meat was cut thick and piled high, super high because it was the main event! Perfect seasoning, texture, smoke. Friendly amount of melty-good fat left on meat acted like a sauce-cheese-condiment in its own way. I would say it's the best sandwich and one of the best things I've ever eaten. One Speed Pastrami qualifies as religious food experience in part because it was communal. Came on a week night which meant ample seating (sometimes this place is packed) ordered the spinach pie which was ok, the crust is thick around the rim but gets very thin in the middle of the pie causing a lot of grease to settle and all the toppings to fall off and dough is hanging limp. I will start by saying the food is good although they seem to have a theme throughout so if you dont like something there will be multiple dishes you wont want. For instance there were multiple dishes with fennel. They have a very small kids menu which was average. A majority of the staff was super nice. I would have given a 4th star but the hostess was snippy almost to the point of flat out rude. We were waiting outside for the rest of our party when she asked if we wanted to come in, we informed her we preferred to wait and she was snippy in her response. We had 2 children and 2 people using wherlchairs, when we were ready to be seated she didnt ask if anyone would be transferring just assumed they wouldnt, she snippy with my children and eventually just handed us the menus and walked away. Once our actual waitress showed up the experience was much nicer. I should add the hostess looked frustrated and I heard her be snippy with another older couple as well. Good food, service needs work. Came here Sunday night for dinner. It was quiet, not too busy. We asked our waiter for a recommendation out of the specials to which he replied that the management doesn't put out dishes for the servers to taste. Please one speed, if you're reading this, I want my server to have tasted everything on the menu to be able to recommend me dishes! So we started with the carpaccio and a green salad, both were overdressed but had good flavor. So far so good. Then we waited half an hour for our second course. Which is too long. But mistakes happen. Our waiter Dean must have been having a bad night. When we asked him how long for our food he seemed irritated by the question... We had the pasta special, three canolini with bechamel, and the vegetable of the day, dragon beans with almonds and browned butter(unsalted and almost flavorless). The pasta and was delicious and obviously made in house but when it arrived it was not the set we were expecting. It looked as though it were topped with fried onions and oyster mushrooms instead of fried artichokes. We asked our waiter about it and he proceeded to hmm and haw while looking at our dish. At one point he even reached to touch it, luckily we caught his hand. So we requested the fried artichokes on the side to make sure we were getting what we order. Dean proceeds to go to the kitchen staff, mock our request by mimicking our question in a high shrill tone and ruin our meal. I guess he thought he was out of ear shot but he most definitely was not. Fantastic place! 4 of us shared a pepperoni pizza, a "carnivore" calzone, and a garden lettuce salad and were quite satisfied. The calzone was out of this world! I loved that it wasn't too saucy...just the perfect amount and the ricotta is a nice touch...and it didn't give me heartburn! They have great (shady) outside seating that is pup friendly. This is always a plus for me. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that they do not serve ranch *sad face*. This gal loves her some ranch with pizza...c'mon this is California! Ranch on pizza is our thing...our server was really nice about it though. He basically said the owner doesn't like ranch. Well in the words of the wise Joe Dirt "It's not what you like. Meeeehhhhh...... First time having dinner here. Best friend and I each ordered a salad, it was good. Also ordered 2 pizzas. Pizza was super disappointing. Crust is kind of plain. Sauce is super runny and makes the pizza crust soggy and limp. Essentially all of the toppings either slide off the pizza or crust just flops down and everything falls off. Overall, their toppings taste good, so I picked at them and ate what I wanted. $86 for 2 pizza's, 2 salads, 1 beer, and 1 lemonade. Honestly, my friend and I both agreed that it was disappointing. Round Table or Blaze is better, and about 1/4 of the price. On the nice side, the pizza's are big. The restaurant looks nice. Service is slow but friendly. Server never asked us how our food was, we almost never saw her once we finally got our food. Anyway, I might try it again, but they have to fix their pizza. You can't have soggy crust and runny sauce - come on. That's like basic pizza making 101. I'm actually kind of angry at how bad it was LOL. Ridiculously poor execution. read more

My boyfriend and I went here Thursday night. We shared the Jersey pizza and chopped salad. Both were very good and fresh! He got a beer, I got a glass of wine and the mule drink. Service was good! We were seated right away. It was a popular place but not crowded. Service was also fast. I would recommend. The only thing was we both got a bit sick feeling later on that night and we didn't eat anything else so I'm not sure if there is something with the oil or it was a weird coincidence. I have justification for one star. Has anyone heard of a time limit at a restaurant? Our friend made reservations for our party of about 11. She was rudely told that we could only have the table for 2 hours. We were seated and after some time we finally got orders in for drinks. It took quite a bit longer for apps. We ordered the fries and foccacia which were tasty. Yet again we waited and waited and finally were able to order our pizzas. The pizzas arrived after a considerable time later. For $15 a pizza, they weren't bad. Our favorite was the Rick's pizza with potato, goat cheese, arugula and I believe a ham of some sort. The Sausage Pizz is pretty good too. But the service completely canceled out any hopes of coming back. A friend of ours joined us at 7:20 and was approached by the hostess. I am assuming that its the same lady in previous posts who was rude to customers. She reminded my friend that we have to be out of there by 8 pm. Lady, we know about your stupid and ridiculous time limit. Who does that? What kind of restaurant is this? My friend ordered his salad and beer and was again reminded by the waiter of the time limit. GRRR! Oh wait it gets better. At 8:00 pm, the rude lady at the front comes over to us and tells us its time to go. So I asked her "Do you want us to leave without paying?" We were still waiting to sign for the check when she asked us to leave. How ridiculous is that? How does a Chef with one of the best restaurants in town open another with the worst customer service experience I have ever had? After paying $15 for each personal pizza you would expect some decent service. Needless to say I will not be returning to OneSpeed and in fact will discourage people from going there. I know that I am generalizing but this restaurant reflects the snobbery attitude of East Sacramento. I think I will stick to midtown and eat at Chicago Fire, Paesano's and Zelda's. I know that I will get better service there. In fact Waterboy will not be on my list any longer and I will stick to Mulvaney's. read more

I'm sticking with three stars, although I've been back several times recently and each time the food has blown the other pizza places in town out of the water. It's really damn tasty. Plus they have Pliny (sometimes). But seriously, the older woman (manager?) who works here needs to chill out. On my most recent visit, one of my dining companions was hard of hearing (he may argue otherwise). Since One Speed has horrible acoustics, and is rightfully very popular and busy, we asked to be seated in a quieter corner table (they can't get more than 4 people at an outside table). The woman, in a very snappy tone, told us that this was going to be "difficult" since they'd have to move two tables together. The tables are not even a foot apart. It took the very sweet waitress about a minute to push them together and didn't appear to be all that difficult. See my previous review for other issues I've had with this particular woman. It's been one bad experience after another with her. I can only imagine that she must be someone's mom or a business partner or something. Otherwise I can't imagine why you'd have someone so damn cranky working in the front of the house. read more

Great pizza in a casual and friendly, neighborhood environment with one hellava' burger - that's how I can best describe my experiences at OneSpeed and each visit here seems to be just as good as the last, if not better. The staple here are their pizzas, which are cooked in a mosaic-tiled pizza oven that sits in center of the restaurants open kitchen. My personal favorite is the Ricks but the Margherita comes in a close second. It's just something about that Ricks with those golden potatoes and crispy pancetta, with fresh arugula and goat cheese that creates something pretty magical for me. I'm also a big fan of the crust here - thin and chewy, with a little crispiness on the outside and those little crunchy and cushy air pockets here-and-there. But don't be fooled thinking pizzas are the only way to go here either, because the OneSpeed Burger sits high on my list. It was a large, juicy patty on an extremely soft, toasted bun with sauteed onions, rosemary mayo and a Sierra Nevada Cheddar cheese. It's certainly one of my favorites and when ordered medium-rare can be deliciously messy. Their beer selection is pretty extensive, quite impressive and always seems to be rotating. There's a handful of taps at the bar as well as a bottle selection that primarily make up the list from local breweries including Knee Deep, Lagunitas, 21st Amendment, Ballast Point, and Sierra Nevada just to name a few. Sometimes you'll see Pliny the Elder on the menu but just like anywhere else, it's a crap shoot whether it's still in stock or not. Service has always been great, especially the few times I've sat at the bar to eat. It gets really crowded here on a regular basis so I'd recommend arriving early or making reservations. We haven't had an unpleasant trip here yet - whether it's after many beers across the street, or a casual dinner with some friends. We always seem to enjoy this place and Saturday mid-afternoon, during the calm before the storm, may just be our new favorite time to enjoy this little neighborhood gem. read more

The crust is puffed to perfection and blankets the bubbling mozzarella and marinara. The server slices it tableside into four generously sized portions, so I recommend splitting. My personal veg fav is the Margherita + piquillo peppers and olives. BUZZING: Despite having a decently sized dining room and tables outside, be prepared for a wait during peak hours.
