More about the food: Tupelo Honey serves "Southern comfort food with a creative twist" (their words). This is not the place to go if you're looking for lite bites. This IS the place to go if you're looking for a hearty and mouthwatering meal. I've been here a few times and have sampled the fried green tomatoes, the garden harvest omelet, the chicken and waffles, and one sandwich (no longer available) that was clearly inspired by the Po Boy but was not a classic Po Boy (since it didn't include shrimp). It's all tasted phenomenal! Drink-wise, you won't be left wanting - Tupelo serves cocktails (some "standing" and some seasonal), mocktails, wine, beer, and a handful of coffee options. They're all absolutely delicious. I will say, the last time I dined here, I opted to go all in on the coffee. I started with an iced mocha, then had their 'not another espresso martini' with my meal. The mocha was one of the best I've ever had, full stop. Tupelo makes theirs with dark chocolate and oat milk, and as long as it's on their menu, I plan to order it again and again! Speaking of: I mentioned that it's easy to coordinate an outing here. Tupelo lets you make reservations directly through their website for parties of various sizes. I've dined here with a smaller group (immediate family) as well as with a larger group (a Meetup-style organization). Each time, Tupelo had a table waiting for us and we were welcomed by some of the nicest staff I've ever interacted with in a restaurant. I always tip well, partly because they've always been super attentive, but also because their humor and smiles put me in a better mood. This is definitely a team that's good at their jobs! This place is an easy 5 out of 5 for me. The only bummer is that there is no free parking near Tupelo, but the food is good enough that I'm willing to deal with that downside and come back again and again...hungry and ready for more!

One night recently when undecided of where to have dinner my wife said hey we've been wanting to try Nadine's so let's go. When we pulled up it lived up I was pleased to see they had their own parking lot. First impression of outside and inside was that it was definitely a dive bar, but that's not a bad thing. It's a tiny little place, long and narrow. It seemed like most of the patrons were local regulars. The menu was bigger than I expected and was surprised to see that they even offer breakfast service. We sat at the bar and we were quickly greeted. I decided to try the soup of the day which was lasagna soup. It wasn't bad, but not amazing. It could have had a little more seasoning. I then ordered a Reuben and my wife had a cheesesteak. The food was cooked right in front of us on a tiny little griddle behind the bar. It didn't take long for the food to arrive. It was all pretty solid. My wife seemed to enjoy her sandwich as did I. I should have asked for more Russian dressing for my Reuben but it was good.

I frequently go to places on the same block and somehow never realized this was here. It is a charming little family diner, with one sister serving and another cooking when we were here today. Truly the definition of a family run business. My friend had a classic breakfast with eggs, potatoes and toast, while I was very interested in the vegetable grilled cheese sandwich that was piled with vegetables in addition to the cheese. You just don't see that every day. They mentioned they had ordered more hoagie buns than they needed so in addition to the specials, which included a pistachio fluff homemade waffle that definitely had my attention, you were free to dream up any hoagie combination you like. So I asked for the vegetable grilled cheese on a hoagie bun and it was incredibly delicious. Paired with super crispy tater tots, it was the tastiest, low-key brunch I've had in a while. Note that they are cash only, they mention this on the door but I completely missed it and pulled out my debit card. She kindly reminded me about the policy and mentioned they have ATM in the shop, but there is also a PNC ATM across the street. I ran over there and got cash and it was all good. I will be back soon and definitely will be recommending it to friends.

The restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch, and recently it set late-night hours with a limited menu. My husband and I ate breakfast here one time. An employee promptly and courteously greeted us, gave us menus, took our order, and brought out our foods. Here are my ratings for what we ate: Steak Salad - 5 stars - This salad contained fresh iceberg lettuce, mozzarella cheese, fries, steak, hard-boiled egg, delicious tomatoes, and my choice of either grilled or raw vegetables. Banana's Foster Waffles - 5 stars - This waffle was topped with bananas and sweet syrup. Yinzer Omelet - 4 stars - This egg omelette contained American cheese, onion, chunks of pierogies, and my choice of meat of kielbasa. I prefer my pierogies and kielbasa separate from an omelette, but I appreciated trying this menu item. Egg-bacon-cheese bagel sandwich - 4 stars - For this classic egg-bacon-cheese sandwich, I chose a bagel bun for an upcharge. My husband usually loves this sandwich elsewhere but said that he did not like it here. I thought that it tasted good. I appreciated the generous amount of crispy bacon. The total price was $57 plus tip. Cash only.
