I enjoy Hawaiian food. There are not many restaurants in the High Desert serving this. My mainstays from Ono Hawaiian BBQ have always been Kalbi Short Ribs and Spam Musubi. Sometimes I will order a Kahlua Pork plate. The plate meals come with two scoops rice and one scoop macaroni. The macaroni will have tuna mixed in but it is barely detectable both in sight and in taste. Some steamed veggies also come with the meal. The food has always been very delicious and consistent. Spam Musubi is good here. I like that there are two pieces per order. Other places charge by the piece. The Spam in the musubi is cooked in a nice teriyaki sauce. This went well with the rice and seaweed. I always get either one of two orders. There is a limited time menu item currently: Hula Guava Pie. Think Poptart with a tropical filling. The guava paste was not too sweet at all and slightly tart. Most of the sweetness is from the pink icing on the top. The hand pie is generously large. It easily filled my hand and was plenty to share with another person. I order online for pick up. There is less of a wait in the restaurant. Employees were very friendly and efficient. I have been to this Ono Hawaiian BBQ long long time ago. Most recently, I thought I give them a try again. I do enjoy Ono Hawaiian teriyaki chicken and macaroni salad. Upon walking up to the counter, I was greeted immediately. Staff was nice. I knew exactly what I wanted to order. I got 1 seafood mix plate, 1 shrimp and teriyaki chicken plate, 1 side of macroni salad. While I was waiting, I got some containers of teriyaki and katsu sauces. There weren't many people at the time. The wait time was okay. This place is quite spacious... by the looks from the outside, you can't really tell it has good space. I was so eager to eat the macroni salad. Unfortunately, it did not taste like I remember it. Something was way off. I was very disappointed. The mayonnaise was thicker and the flavor was just not the same. I ended up tossing half of it away. As for the teriyaki chicken, the marinate was not the same either... not sweet just meh. Chicken was not very moist either. The shrimp was on the smaller side. I probably will not return back here. However, I will still entertain other Ono Hawaiian locations. read more

This is my third time not receiving what I asked for idk if the cashiers dont understand double rice and no vegetables means, but they always give me vegetables, double rice and no macaroni salad when thats not what i asked for. This establishment is too high for them to be messing up customers orders especially when they are not busy. read more

This spot it's great. The outside looks small but it's pretty decent size. There's like 5 gentlemen in the back making the plates and I notice the manager in the front with a cashier. I really like the service, the manager and cashier are super attentive and efficient. If you have a big order I strongly recommend calling ahead , your order will be ready within 20 min. They take approximately 10-15 min to do your order so don't expect it to be like the regular drive thru fast food restaurant. The food was great, the chicken was juicy and the beef was juicy and soft. The salad it's good but if you like your salad juicy ask for an extra dressing. The rice it's ok nothing out of the world. We ordered our food for take out. Once we were eating our food at work, one person noticed a worm on the vegetables. We all started checking our plates, and another person discovered a worm. At this point, we were all completely disgusted and stopped eating our food. I called Ono speaking to Coral. She offered our money back with no apology for our inconvenience of driving another 20 minutes to return to them. Upon arrival, she said to wait for our money. No other offer of compensation for our time wasted. She didn't even ask to see the worm upon arrival so she must have found more worms in their produce. I did finally show the worms to her, but she didn't even care. The head manager, Jessica, was there, but she didn't even come out to address us or apologize. We are very disappointed and will never be back. I don't want to pay $70 to have worms in my food and the customer service is extremely poor. read more

BUYER BEWARE!!!! We ORDERED AND PAID in advance, which apparently with this location, managers and staff eliminated us from any expectation of quality and timely customer service and satisfaction. I called the store at 11am the day of my PREARRANGED and PREPAID ORDER and PICK UP TIME to verify the status and timely preparation of our food order for the 25 party guests arriving from drives of up to 4 hours away. I also had a 45 minute minimum return drive, in noon high desert traffic, across two communities, to our party location because the theme of the party was celebrating a 1st birthday with Samoan ancestry, which Ono was the closest link to the desired menu selection for our family guests. Upon arrival at the store at my PREARRANGED PICK UP TIME, there were numerous customers in line at the one operating cash register and 4 people sitting about the location. I approached the pickup counter and the cashier ignored my presence. Finally, I announced I was here for a catering pickup. I immediately heard the kitchen staff arguing with each other over the cashiers request for PRIORITY preparation of incoming online and counter orders BEING IN CONFLICT with the ability to prepare the PREORDERED existing catering orders. I mentioned the apparent disorganization, unfairness of inserting walk-in and online orders in front of PREPAID PREORDERS and lack of customer service with the person sitting next to me. She then informed me that she also had a prearranged and prepaid order for pickup today at 11:30am but, when she arrived at 11:30 am she was told her large order wasn't scheduled for today as ordered but, was erroneously entered for the following weekend. Consequently, the kitchen was trying to prepare it while she waited. NOW, for the lack of customer service complaint because I was a PREPAID AND PREORDER CONSUMER!!!! The cashier continued taking walk-in and online orders as both of us PREPAID CONSUMERS waited for our meals. The cashier actually told the kitchen staff to take items out of our large orders to complete the assembly of the counter traffic and DoorDash orders, which was TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE to one of the kitchen staff, thank goodness, who disagreed with her. However, someone overrode the kitchen staff because over the next 50 minutes all lobby walk-in orders AND DoorDash orders were filled and I was left waiting for my PREPAID PREORDER, which was 50 minutes past my PREARRANGED AND PREPAID PICKUP TIME!!!! Then, during this debacle, I challenged the cashier on her directions to the kitchen staff to satisfy walk-in, online and DoorDash orders before fulfilling their obligation to PREPAID PREORDERS!!! She barked unprofessionally at me, "What is your problem?" I replied, "I just clearly explained it to you!" She barked back at me, "I need to give them their food also! Not just your's!!!" I also noted to her that 3 of the counter traffic customers emphasized that they were "DoorDash!" pickups and questioned the obvious unfairness and apparent priority to those claiming "DoorDash" status, which clarified to me that PREPAID CONSUMERS are LESS VALUABLE than walk-in customers and "DoorDash" drivers because PREPAID CONSUMERS ARE GUARANTEED MONEY, WHEREAS WALKINS ARE ICING ON THEIR $$$ PROFIT MARGIN CAKE!!!! OUR ORDER WAS $493, NOT CHUMP CHANGE!!! There are numerous other quality ethnic restaurants of different flavor outside of this personal and isolated restriction for this particular party theme. I ASSURE YOU that I will share this terrible and unprofessional experience with everyone in our community and sphere of influence. Hopefully, enough people will appreciate the INSENSITIVITY of your staff and FAILURE of your staff to honor your commitment to a PREPAID CONSUMER and choose NOT TO PATRONIZE YOUR LOCATION in the future!!! Buyer beware that our time and money is just as important as walk-in and online uncommitted customers!!!!! Love the food but the worst customer service EVER. The employee who helped us her name was Danny. She was rude rolling her eyes got hostile when I asked a question about the menu and then decided to change my mind on my order. I have never felt so uncomfortable in a food service setting. Additionally when my husband went to pick up our order from the counter he asked a question and did not have the receipt and she told him " well you shouldn't have thrown your receipt away". They have Hawaiian sun which is a plus. However, the food just wasn't like the plate lunches back home from Zippy's and L&L. Mac salad was good. The kalua pig was a disappointment, can I suggest you shred it and soak it in some Hawaiian salt. It was dry, chewy and flavorless. We went here Monday night 12/11/23 and my husband and I literally got food poisoning. I don't know if it was the chicken or the macaroni. I think it was the macaroni because my toddler only had chicken and no macaroni and he was fine but my husband and I got extremely sick. read more

They are fast and their food is good. They even force their customers to where masks. I came in one day and a man walked in without a mask. They very politely asked him to put one on and he got all upset however they deescalated the tension by offering him one. Great God, I was not familiar with their food, so I just assumed when I ordered barbecue chicken it would have barbecue sauce on it. Boy, was I wrong. It is plain, thin chicken cooked on a barbecue and cooked too long at that, but no barbecue sauce at all. So, that was a disappointment. Then I tried the shrimp and didn't know they were going to be in the form of round rings. They were ok but not enough shrimp meat on them and not enough of them. I got macaroni salad and that must be really fattening because I could only eat a few bites of it before it felt like I was overeating.
