Food is great, however the service wasn't. I understand mix ups happen which is fine but I didn't appreciate how the situation was handled with the employee giving out the food. My husband asked for new food since the people that the employee gave our food to opened it. The lady who gave out the order and who was on register said to one another in Tagalog that they didn't see the issue it's not like they ate it. We were given new food but the way the employees continued to talk smack in Tagalog ruined the whole experience. It's not my fault the employee gave out the wrong order to the wrong people. I prefer Ono Hawaiian BBQ over the other place LNL. I like their beef bbq plate and their teriyaki sauce tastes better than the other bbq places. The chicken katsu is great too and don't forget their katsu sauce. Plate comes with 2 scoops of rice and 1 scoop of macaroni salad. I usually get my beef bbq plate with all rice but the kids prefer their plates with all macaroni salad. This was my first time at an Ono Hawaiian BBQ and this is one of the better fast food Hawaiian BBQ places I have had in the Bay Area. Their portions are very big and the food is not too greasy, salty or overly sweet. I got the Kahlua combo with Kahlua pork and bbq chicken. I substituted the Mac salad for green salad which I was happy I was able to do. My Kahlua plate also came with a lot of cabbage too which I liked. I also got a spam masubi and bbq chicken masubi to try and they were good as well. The rice was still warm and so was the seaweed which made it even tastier. This place was quite popular with lots of people and lots of families as well. Service was pretty quick considering the amount of orders. I would definitely come back again to try some other stuff. We stopped by Ono when we were at the Serramonte Mall area. It is hard to find a good place to eat in the area. The place is set up in a minimalistic but clean and efficient way. The cashier seemed very helpful and cheery. We got their combo meals and between 2 people we tried the Katsu, Chicken Teryaki and Island Fire Chicken. If you build your own combo it comes with rice and salad. If you pick one of the existing combos it comes with the same, but additional macaroni salad. The Teryaki and Katsu were really good, and I would recommend them as options if you are lost. The Island Fire Chicken lacked any distinctive flavor and was not even spicy (which I am super sensitive to), so I would stay away from it. The Katsu and Teryaki sauce you can pour yourself are really good. Other than that, the food was served fast and overall seemed freshly prepared. I would give it a 4 star as a hawaiian fast food place. Would lose a star if you are thinking about it as a "nicer" sit down. read more

Excellent promotion that was able to use to get when I ordered over the phone. I was impressed someone picked up because I called their other location and I got their voicemail. I am hungry and I am not going to leave a message to wait for a callback that may never come. Luckily the Colma Ono Hawaiian BBQ was there and took my order of $5 fish plate special and The Buy one and get one free special for the Chicken Katsu and the free BBQ Chicken plate. I was told it will take 10 minutes. When we arrived, I put on my face mask and entered. I think all most stores and restaurants have a plastic window to protect staff and customers which is great. The restaurant tables were all pushed aside along the wall, so there was lots of standing areas. Lucky around 3pm there was a few people there about 4 people. Some people ordered on the spot. Me and another person must have called ahead because all we did was pay for our orders and got our food and that was a fast and quick takeout just like my first Take Out restaurant I went to last week. Only weak point with Ono is there is no online ordering. But lucky the time I went it was pretty empty. Other locations maybe more busier and crowded. Whatever is going on in the other plaza with Popeyes, Starbucks and Chipotle, there was a long row of cars trying to get into plaza! Good thing I didn't go there today! Anyway at home I opened up my hot food and ate it with two other people and we still have enough leftovers for next day. Great full portion size and great service. Not sure why others complain, but they are doing a good job like other restaurants trying to earn a living during Coronovirus time. We should all support both local and chain restaurants as long as we can afford it. Not everyone is working and people should tell not judge others for what they buy. This rating is specifically for their service (food was "ok"). I called on a Thursday to make a catering order to pick up on the following day Friday @5pm. So I made the order with my credit card over the phone and they never gave me a confirmation number but all they said was to show up the next day at 5pm to pick up the food and sign for the receipt. The next day, I called them to confirm the order for pick up and that my husband will be the one to get it for me. I told her his name and I asked her what else she will need from him to pick up the order. She says "just his signature, nothing else." My husband goes to pick it up. If the food in Hawaii is remotely close to what Ono Hawaiian BBQ offers then I am truly missing out! This restaurant is where my fiancé and I buy our weekday dinners. You get such great quantity and quality in one meal! We often share a meal and it's just enough food. Our favorites include bbq mix and chicken katsu. I love how there is a bed of veggies underneath the protein. This gives the dish some balance and cuts the fat from the beef ribs/bbq beef. Ordered through doordash. First time eating from here, and man, the food was great! I got the 2 entree item, with chicken katsu and chicken teriyaki. The katsu was very tender. The teriyaki was as well; it had lots of flavor. The salad with the dressing, and seeds on them, were great tasting also. There was lots of rice as well; being a big rice eater, it perfectly matched and balanced with both chicken items. Will def order from here again.
