I've been to this Ono's Hawaiian BBQ location a couple of times months ago, along with other Ono's and L&L spots, so I pretty much know what to expect when I order certain plates. This time, though, things felt noticeably different. I ordered the BBQ Beef and BBQ Chicken Aloha Plate. I called in my order right when they opened at 11 AM and picked it up about 15-20 minutes later, so it should have been fresh. But when I got home--only about 10 minutes away--the food was already cold and didn't taste freshly cooked. The BBQ chicken was dry and hard, and the BBQ beef was tough with very little juiciness. It was surprising because this isn't how it usually is at other locations. I'm not sure if they have a new cook or if something has changed, but the quality just didn't match what I've gotten before. It honestly felt like the food had been sitting for a while, which was disappointing considering I ordered right when they opened. I hate to say it, but for this visit I have to give it 3 out of 5 stars. Hopefully this was just an off day, and I'll update my review if things improve on my next visit. read more

I went out with the 81 and 77 year olds who own the house to see what was good to eat. I wasn't that hungry but I was along for the ride. He grew up with Hawai'i, so this is a natural destination. She spent a few years there, as well. My flight to Japan and back probably flew over the islands. I have no clue about Hawaiian food. He ordered Kalua Pork. She ordered Kal Bi, which is actually Korean, but whatever, plus the Shrimp appetizer. I ordered the Island White fish in a mini meal. She asked what kind of fish it was and the person behind the counter said "white". I probably would have said "Caucasian" but that's just me trying to make someone laugh. They serve Coca-Cola products and the little Hawaiian cans that you can also find at Costco. I got a cup for water. It didn't take too long, but her meal wasn't exactly as ordered, so they changed the extra scoop of rice to extra macaroni salad, and they were pleasant about it. We asked about the difference between the mini meal and the plate for the White fish. The extra $2.00 gets you two more pieces of fish and an extra scoop of rice. Everything was good. I'd never had macaroni salad like that and mayonnaise is something I usually avoid but I wanted to try everything. I'm just glad to find a place that has fish that isn't outrageously expensive. Staff was friendly and the place was clean. I liked that they had Compost and Recycling, also. The soap dispenser in the restroom wasn't working but I opened the lid and got some soap. read more

Paid $17 for a chicken katsu plate and got served undercooked chicken pink in the middle and totally unsafe to eat. I told them, and they remade it... but the second batch? Same issue, and now it was also soggy and greasy on top of that. So not only was it still pink, it was now a greasy mess too. No texture, no flavor, just a health risk wrapped in breadcrumbs. Would anyone seriously eat that? Because I'm not risking food poisoning twice in one sitting. For $17, I expected a decent meal, not raw chicken and oily disappointment. I picked up an order on Saturday, 12/07, on my way home from work for a late lunch for me and my family. I ordered both the chicken combo and the beef combo. I was told that I cannot order in the mini size so I ordered in the regular with Mac salad only. When I picked it up, it was heavy enough that I thought that would be good amount of meat on both orders. I come home and the bottom of each takeout container were full of cabbage, and the amount of meat on both orders were about the same amount for a mini size order for $32! The chicken barbecue was stringy as per my brother had mentioned that it could be already be 2-3 days old. I will never again order food from this location or any other location. The gal at the front looked like she wasn't happy to be there because she sounded rude to the other customer before me. read more

Food is usually good, I'm hoping it's good again tonight once my doordasher brings it, what I'm upset about is normally I call to say I want all rice instead of the mac. I called twice, 4 mins before closing and they chose not to answer my call, like if they were scared of a last minute order which all I was going to say was "ALL RICE!" Best Ono I've ever been to. Little late on the review but great service, amazing food, & truly accomodating. Loved how this Ono was surrounded near a wonderful shopping center with many fun shops to explore as well. I ordered the Chicken plate with extra mac and less cabbage. Also liked how they had all their condiments to the side so you could choose exactly what you wanted. Just wanted to say, that when i got my to go order everything was right off the grill. Nothing had been left sitting and everything was HOT. Perfectly cooked; to me i loved that because you could tell this store was considerate of their customers and had so much thought into how their meals were being served. Finally tried out this location on 7/13/24. After doing some errands with my mom we decided to stop by and order dinner to go. Love getting the Kalbi short ribs. This is my go-to order whenever I go to Ono. My mom went for the Hawaiian BBQ mix this time around. Don't for get the sauces. This place has two kinds of sauces. One for the chicken katsu and they have a teriyaki sauce which is warm. Last time we forgot to get some but this time we were on it! Overall, we enjoyed the food we got. Ono's is one of the few Hawaiian restaurant in the area and offer great meals. I've gone at this location for take out and catering. The staff is always friendly. The food tastes like any other Ono's location. A combo serving is enough to feed 3 people. The family pack can feed more than 5 people. The crab rangoons and crispy shrimp stay crispy. The bed of cabbage gives it a nice presentation and prevent sogginess from the heat. Parking can get chaotic during lunch hour. Online ordering is available and very convenient. read more

We recently visited Manteca Great Wolf Lodge and stayed overnight with some kids, and we found Ono Hawaiian BBQ located in a strip mall just 2 minutes away. Ordering is easy through their online site and food was packed and ready for pickup at the time we designated. Utensils and sauces were included although it would have been nice if we got plates as well. We managed by splitting up the to go boxes. When you're looking to feed a crowd, Ono Hawaiian BBQ is a good option as you get decent portion sizes with their family pack at a very reasonable price. But don't expect much more, as this is probably not the best Hawaiian option I've ever had. read more

I tend to never leave reviews but today kinda burnt me to make one, we just drove for 3 hours and were hungry so we decided to head to a spot we know we like. We were standing there. Only ones besides a couple sitting that was already helped. For 10 minutes we stood there waiting to be helped we thought maybe they were doing a shift change. We make eye contact with the only one leaning up on the counter at the register multiple times she even drinks her soda like she's waiting for us but doesn't say anything. in comes another customer and she gets greeted and helped before us. We just left cause we are not about to tell you how to do your job. I certainly am not your manager nor do I get paid to manage you. Please work on their customer service. Needing your local food fix in a pinch? I would say yes, try this place out but it is not going to satisfy your taste buds. There is no "aloha" put into the food and it shows. I've tried the chicken katsu, probably the only thing I'd eat from here, the kal-bi style short ribs, very tough and not marinated in the right sauce properly. The Mac salad has tuna in it. I know of some places that would add tuna but good Mac salad does not have tuna in it as it throws off the entire taste. Again there's no "aloha" service from the people here taking your order and it's just a job for them. The Hawaii experience is non existent at this establishment. Sure, they play Hawaiian music inside the restaurant to give that ambiance of visiting Hawaii but that's all you get. They have the Hawaiian Sun can juices and that's cool but they are expensive, especially it being a 12 oz. can. The teriyaki sauce that's available is decent and anything you order here is going to need it. I don't necessarily care for the katsu sauce but it does the job when having the chicken katsu plate lunch. You may have to take a drive to another establishment that does local Hawaiian style plate lunches but if you need your local food fix, try at your own risk! read more

The first red flag should've been my order being ready in 5 minutes when I called LOL but we decided to pick it up anyways and wow is all I can say... Boyfriend opted for Hawaiian bbq mix & I had the Hawaiian bbq beef; DISGUSTING. Burnt, fatty, chewy meat. My whole plate was tossed in the garbage. I also got all rice (no Mac no veggies) and the rice was mushy and uncooked... Would never return and wouldn't recommend you wasting your $$ there. $45 to the trash. Let me just say, the service is amazing and the only reason I gave an additional star. The young lady at the counter was so nice and attentive although super busy. She was very polite and assisted me immediately when I requested sauces and lemon that weren't available at the self serve station. She deserves a raise for how great she was handling this busy time but the cooks in the back need to follow their cooking protocol for COOKED rice as well as watch the quality of meat their providing to clients (burnt and excessively fatty) Won't be returning and once again, I recommend you go elsewhere. I see a lot of bad reviews so like most other restaurants it can be a mixed bag. Was just stopping by for a quick bite otw to yosemite. But whoever was in the kitchen on 5/25 at 2pm did a great job on my bbq beef + chicken plate combo (subbed for chicken katsu thanks to the cashier's recommendation!) The food and atmosphere was okay but annoying. I'm sorry this isn't a place for solicitation. I am guessing it's someone's son or younger brother trying to sell candy. I had to tell the kid not once, not twice, not three times, but four times no. First time I told him I don't have cash. He told me to go to an atm and he knows where one is. I told him no. He followed us up to order food and I said no yet again. Another tome as we were sitting down, last as we are leaving. It was taking a lot to not get angry at this kid. He did this to every customer that came in. Clearly the girl at register is either his mom or his sister. That's great that the self proclaimed "young hustler" is raising his own money but if I say no once that is enough. At this point it was harassing. If I can rate this place 0 stars I would me and my husband walked in with our service dog and got immediately kicked out by Kris , we called after we left and she picked up and assumed the roll of manager knowing she wasn't, she told us our dog was not on a leash so she wasn't considered a service dog to her. Third strike and Ono is out in my book. Tonight I ordered online as usual. They made my order wrong again. I even did a re-order of what I order every time to make it easy. I called the shop when i got home and told them about my incorrectly filled order and asked if they could remake and deliver. Of course, the lady said no.
