Can you do rice paper instead of nori? I am Japanese and love nori but my wife is allergic to it like many non-Japanese people.

Hello, We, unfortunately, don't do rice paper but we can do omusubi without Nori.

Izakaya Shun is located on Maryland and Tropicana near Harmon. You'll find them at Runnin' Rebel…read morePlaza near Lefty J's Island Favorites. There's plenty of parking. Inside is spacious, inviting, beautifully decorated with cherry blossoms, Japanese lanterns, and wall drawings of the menu, there's plenty of seating and relaxing music. Menu offers a nice selection of charcoal grilled such as A5 wagyu, yakitori beef, chicken, pork, kurobuta sausage, as well as quick bites, appetizers, carpaccio, special roll, sashimi, chirashi bowl, ramen, donburi, and desserts. For refreshments, they have sake, draft beer sapporo, shochu (traditional Japanese distilled spirit), chu-hi, soft drinks, plum wine, wine, and champagne. I ordered quick bites for Japanese Pickles ($5.80) and Cold Tofu ($4.80). Cold Tofu is simple, topped with chopped green onions, ginger, and bonito flakes. Japanese Pickles is light and tasty, has yellow pickled radish (daikon), cucumbers, seaweed, and cabbage. I tried a small appetizer for Shrimp Tempura ($8.80) and request mayonnaise on the side. Shrimp is fried golden crispy, served over mixed greens with tomatoes, and the mayo is a great dipping sauce. For dessert, they have waffles for Berry Berry, Matcha Anko, and Choco Banana, including ice cream and mochi. I love Warabi Mochi ($3.98), it's Japanese Jelly Sweets served as six pieces, the texture is delightful, soft, chewy, bouncy, and so yummy with brown sugar syrup. Japanese Ice Cream ($3.98) is good too! Instead of Vanilla, I asked for Matcha Ice Cream, and they are nice to accommodate. Matcha ice cream is creamy, sprinkled with kinako powder, and has a wonderful sweetness from brown sugar syrup, it's really good! Service from Momo and Jasmine is so kind, welcoming, attentive, accommodating, and friendly! There were a couple of birthday parties. They have additional seating in the back, you can bring a cake and they'll light the candles for you, and play a lovely Happy Birthday song, it's very cool!

If you're looking for an Izakaya from the more Eastern part of Las Vegas, this is your best bet…read more This place has potential as they have a great variety of Japanese food and drinks available. This place has yakitori, sushi, ramen, rice bowls, sake, high balls and everything you can imagine that you'd want from an Izakaya without having to go to China town. The food is pretty standard and nothing short of it. The ambiance of the place is pretty simple as they have decor on the wall and in the restaurant to create a clean feeling for an Izakaya without being so loud with the decor. Although the servers were really nice and helpful, the one thing that does dock this place down for me is the service was really slow. We were probably the only people there at first in the beginning before more people started showing up. We were able to get a few of our dishes, but then they seemed to have prioritized the bigger groups orders over ours. It got to the point where we were tired of waiting and they knew it. It was a bit of a wait for us to even check out with whatever food we got, but they were still nice and apologized about it. This place definitely has potential, they just have to be able to dish out all the food they have to offer.

The atmosphere was clean, quiet & welcoming with music softly playing overhead. The servers, Trinh & Tina were excellent from start to finish. They were attentive & made sure our food kept coming. They also made great suggestions for us which is always helpful; since there's so many items to choose from. So I'm sure there is something for everyone here guys! Everything we ordered was fresh & flavorful. The yuzu salmon was one of my favorites, the salmon was really fresh & buttery. Overall, this is a fantastic AYCE Japanese restaurant that you can't beat for the price. We will be back! Cheers!

He's one with gold bracelets and a pierced ear. He rushed through the entire meal, put almost no effort into entertaining the table, and came across as cold and dismissive. I made a few simple requests regarding my food, and every single one was ignored. It wasn't just disappointing, it was frustrating. If you're paying hibachi prices, you're paying for both the meal and the experience, and we received neither. The food itself was equally underwhelming. It lacked flavor, was overcooked in places, and simply wasn't good. Honestly, I've had better hibachi at fast casual restaurants. What really crossed the line was when the chef had the audacity to gesture to the rest of my party for tips after I had already tipped him myself. I've never experienced anything like that. It put everyone at the table in an uncomfortable position and left a bad taste in our mouths before we had even finished eating. The service only added to the disappointment. Our server was painfully slow from start to finish. Tables that were seated well after us finished their meals and left before we did. When I finally asked for a to-go box for the food I barely wanted to take home, she handed me the containers and walked away without even offering a bag. Maybe my expectations are higher than the average guest because I worked at Benihana for several years while I was in graduate school. I know what good hibachi looks like. It's not about tossing shrimp into someone's mouth or making a volcano out of onions. It's about hospitality, timing, engaging your guests, and making them feel like they received an experience worthy of the price they paid. This wasn't that. For nearly $360, we left feeling disappointed, uncomfortable, and wondering how a restaurant built around entertainment managed to make dinner feel like such an inconvenience. We won't be returning.
