I'd heard about Oppa Sushi & Korean before but don't really get up to Alpine that often. Nate and I were in the area recently and decided to stop in for a light lunch. We were welcomed right away when we walked in. The menu includes quite a bit of sushi and a handful of Korean dishes. I love Korean food and make it often at home, so I'm always excited to try Korean food at restaurants. I wish they had even more Korean options, but we were happy to order their tteokbokki (Korean rice cakes) and hoe dup bap (a rice bowl with mixed greens and raw fish). We also got a spicy scallop roll to try some of their sushi. The hoe dup bap came with a cup of miso soup that was hot and very salty. It warmed me up on the chilly winter day. The tteokbokki was a nice portion with plenty of sauce. It's not a super spicy dish but it does have a bit of a kick to it. The tteokbokki were perfectly chewy and delicious. The hoe dup bap was my favorite - the fish was very fresh and so tasty, and I liked the sauce that you can drizzle on and mix it up. It felt like a healthy, delicious option, and it was a generous portion. I'd definitely order this again. Unfortunately the spicy scallop roll fell short for me - the rice was a bit hard, but the chopped scallops themselves were tasty. This is a roll I don't see often but it's one of my favorites. I'm really glad we finally got to try Oppa Sushi & Korean and would come back to try other items and definitely get the hoe dup bap again, as it's not a dish I've seen often at places around town.

    Soondubu / seafood

I ordered Soondubu /seafood And there was only 1 piece of mussel and 2 tiny pieces of octopus. It was 95% tofu and veggies. So I ask the lady ( might be the owner) Is this normal? The answer is... "if you don't like it then don't order it. No one ever complained." Aka fuck off. Great way to run the business. And yup never ever coming back 17$ wasted

    Hot Korean Bowl

I got two sushi rolls, they were good. I have tried multiple other sushi places that rank higher on my list but these weren't bad. Service was standard and met expectations. Inside has lots of seating and space.

Tepanyaki full of cabbage and oil

The teppanyakki was subpar. Mostly cabbage. Tempura was overly oily. Don't get me wrong I know it's deep fried but it retained a ton of oil

Really nice little Sushi Korean place in North Grand Rapids area. Lots of love and care put into these meals. Jammed on Wednesday Night. Randomly. I tried the Spicy Pork Bulgogi. Spicy yes. Huge. Could have fed two to three. At least two people. This is their key stone menu item. Wow. I also got the Crunch Munch Roll. Shrimp tempura, crab salad, with spicy shrimp topper and sweet and spicy sauce plus tempura crunchies. So perfect. I will say it was spicy. Not wimpy spicy. Just right. Salad with homemade ginger dressing came with Bulgogi I would recommend this restaurant as a hidden gem.

Only been here once, got tteokbokki, I think a veg sushi roll, and sweet coffee. Anyplace that offers sweet coffee, I will get it and be happy. Roll was decent, but not so memorable compared to the tteokbokki, which I had a great first experience with. (Couldn't finish the whole dish by myself in one sitting, so I took some home) The place had a very cute and comfortable atmosphere, and I would like to go again sometime and try some of their other food options.

    Bulgogi

Food was delicious. Service was great. Atmosphere was nice. I would definitely go back there when I come back to visit Michigan.

TTEOKBOKKI (with boiled eggs) Yummy! So perfect for chilly, rainy days.

We are visiting for a few weeks and have eaten here twice already. The owners are super friendly and their staff are as well. The first time I can I got the TTEOKBOKKI (spicy rice cakes) and the next time I got the sushi crunch burrito.. both were very good and not the spot. Their hot green tea is also very good here. My daughter always gets the same thing (basically a veggie roll with cream cheese) and she said it's really fresh and her favorite anywhere we've been before. They also play music from popular K-dramas which truly makes dining here a delightful experience for us as we try to guess which shows we've heard the songs on. Our visit to Michigan has been impacted so positively by eating here, no doubt we will continue to visit while we are in town.

Very cute mom and pop type of place. Food was great, and wasn't pricey. Service was so wonderful and kind. I'll be back!

Nate and I met up with a group of Korean adoptees recently and had a nice time. The space was great for a larger group and we all had plenty of room to share since it wasn't busy. The menu includes several Korean dishes that you can't really find anywhere else in the area, like buldak, pan fried mackerel, pork belly stir fry, etc. It was tough to decide what to order because I LOVE Korean food! I went with the buldak (spicy chicken stir fry with cheese) and Nate got the dolsot bibimbap with spicy pork. We also had some appetizers to share - the fried dumplings and shumai. I loved the dumplings. They were super crispy and the filling was savory and tasty. The shumai were okay and cooked nicely, just not a ton of flavor for me. I was really happy with the buldak. The chicken was tender, it had plenty of melty cheese, and it wasn't super spicy. I've made this dish at home and you can definitely make it super hot! Nate and I both agreed that we liked the buldak better than the bibimbap. There is plenty of parking as Emonae is in a strip mall with some other restaurants. I will definitely be back to try more of their food!

We had plenty of food splitting the bulgogi, Kalbi, veggie dumplings, and jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) with all of the banchan (side dishes). I love fish cakes! It seemed like there were only one or two people taking orders, cooking food, and serving. We didn't have to wait too long for food and it was a nice family dinner.
