It came with miso soup, unagi over rice, a pot sticker, veggie tempura, a shrimp tempura and edamame I was full at the end of the meal. My husband got the special cluck cluck bowl, which had spicy chili chicken, chicken fried rice and miso soup, he also got a taro bubble tea. The chicken was very flavorful with a mild heat to it. Went here for a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised to find a Korean restaurant that also serves sushi. Authentic and delicious. The dolsot bibimbap came out hot and sizzling. Everything prepared was authentic and delicious and their sunny side up egg was perfectly cooked. I also tried an appetizer that was crispy and well flavored. The Nikojume tempura was better than expected with a crispy outer coating revealing mushroom, cream cheese and crab salad with a drizzle of eel sauce. Savory, crunchy and sweet. Well worth the $8. My meal came to $26 plus tip. Pricy for lunch, but still pleased with my meal. Definitely check out Oppa if you're in the area for take out or dine in. Oppa has been on our list of Korean restaurants to try. It is actually a sushi restaurant with some Korean dishes on the menu. We came in during lunch time and it was not too busy. It is definitely a mom and pop type feel - the servers were also the ones preparing the food, from what I could tell. Since it was not too busy, we were greeted promptly and our food came out pretty quick. We tried the appetizer - Nikojume Tempura. It was deep fried mushrooms stuffed with spicy crab salad, cream cheese, and eel sauce. It was a heavy dish and very rich in flavors. I liked it but it was very filling before the main dish. We tried some Korean dishes - Bulgogi and Japchae. Both were very good with generous portions. Sadly, they do not do banchan (shared small dishes that come with most Korean meals). I'd heard about Oppa Sushi & Korean before but don't really get up to Alpine that often. Nate and I were in the area recently and decided to stop in for a light lunch. We were welcomed right away when we walked in. The menu includes quite a bit of sushi and a handful of Korean dishes. I love Korean food and make it often at home, so I'm always excited to try Korean food at restaurants. I wish they had even more Korean options, but we were happy to order their tteokbokki (Korean rice cakes) and hoe dup bap (a rice bowl with mixed greens and raw fish). We also got a spicy scallop roll to try some of their sushi. The hoe dup bap came with a cup of miso soup that was hot and very salty. It warmed me up on the chilly winter day. The tteokbokki was a nice portion with plenty of sauce. It's not a super spicy dish but it does have a bit of a kick to it. The tteokbokki were perfectly chewy and delicious. The hoe dup bap was my favorite - the fish was very fresh and so tasty, and I liked the sauce that you can drizzle on and mix it up. It felt like a healthy, delicious option, and it was a generous portion. I'd definitely order this again. Unfortunately the spicy scallop roll fell short for me - the rice was a bit hard, but the chopped scallops themselves were tasty. This is a roll I don't see often but it's one of my favorites. I'm really glad we finally got to try Oppa Sushi & Korean and would come back to try other items and definitely get the hoe dup bap again, as it's not a dish I've seen often at places around town. read more

The servers DO NOT get tips. The owners take all of the tips! This is misleading. When I tip, I expect it to go to the server, not the owners who I do not even see during my dining experience. The food is good but the shady business practices are not worth it for me. It was a great experience while we were visiting Michigan. We are visiting for a few weeks and have eaten here twice already. The owners are super friendly and their staff are as well. The first time I can I got the TTEOKBOKKI (spicy rice cakes) and the next time I got the sushi crunch burrito.. both were very good and not the spot. Their hot green tea is also very good here. My daughter always gets the same thing (basically a veggie roll with cream cheese) and she said it's really fresh and her favorite anywhere we've been before. They also play music from popular K-dramas which truly makes dining here a delightful experience for us as we try to guess which shows we've heard the songs on. Our visit to Michigan has been impacted so positively by eating here, no doubt we will continue to visit while we are in town. read more

The Korean bul go go bento box was also delicious and came with a healthy portion of tempura shrimp and vegetables. This is a family run business and they were super friendly. My husband and I were pretty excited to discover this place since it's not very far from our house, and we love sushi and Korean food. We finally tried it for the first time tonight and were not disappointed! We never knew it was there as it's located in a little strip mall on Alpine that we drive past but have never really looked to see what's there. Now I know, and everyone else should too! We both love sushi, but didn't want to go all out on sushi since there are other places in town we already go to for that. But we were curious enough to order a couple basic rolls. I got a spicy California roll and he got spicy tuna. I'm not sure my California roll was actually spicy, but it was fine for a basic roll. I added some furikake seasoning at home just to give it a little punch. My husband's spicy tuna roll was also good, though the ratio was a little low fish to rice. Good on flavors though! My husband ordered the spicy bulgogi pork as his main dish. It was very spicy! Thankfully it comes with a healthy portion of rice to mix in and tone it down a little. It wasn't horribly overpowering though; the kind of spice that is addicting and you just can't stop eating it! He ate nearly the whole thing before packing the rest up for leftovers. I had the shrimp yakisoba for my main dish. I was quite happy with it! The shrimp did have tails on, which I don't love so I did cut them off. But it was nice to see the shrimp had been deveined. The sauce on the noodles was really nice, and there was a decent amount of vegetables (I like mine super veggie-heavy). I would order this dish again, but would maybe try with chicken or tofu next. Overall we were really happy with our dinner! There are a lot more menu items that we want to try, and I think it's going to take a couple times to figure out what our go-to dishes are. Saranghae Oppa Sushi & Korean! This local mom 'n pop deserves all the love and support from the community! I have been here a handful of times during the lunch afternoons and it has not disappoint me. Being a Cali girl, my standards for Asian and Korean food are high :) but I evaluate restaurants and businesses in their context. If you are looking for fancy, upscale Korean, this is NOT the joint for ya. However, if you are craving a comforting, familyesque place, Oppa is IT! The exterior is unassuming with two signs indicating it's presence in the plaza construction area. It's the last restaurant located on the strip and as you enter, it's like going into Ajumma's home. The interior and ambiance are simple and homey. There are cute signs around indicating a few of their specials including the crab rangoons and boba! There is probably no more than 15ish tables. It's a straightforward place that focuses on the food while not being unbearably dirty or gross. Crab Rangoon is a MUST ORDER! 6 pieces for $6 is very reasonable, and these aren't your dinky rangoons either. It's filled with considerable amount of cream cheese and imitation crab, comes out piping hot since they make it from scratch in-house! I also LOVE the Soft Shell Crab Roll aka Spider Roll. It's also affordable at $7, best deal in town! The Bento Boxes and Bibimbap are also solid. Lots of foods and I can barely finish it in one sitting. Also tried the Tempura Udon, good hot eat for a cold day but it was mildly too salty for me. There's also other appetizers, burritos, rice dishes, lots of sushi to check out too! Lastly, they offer three boba drinks-- errbody, this ain't a boba tea joint (: I enjoy it as a sweet dessert drink. Boba is chewy mushy, and the drinks are super sweet. If I wanted legit milk tea, I'd go to Ding Tea or Kung Fu Tea. So you already know this lol Service is homely and wonderful again. It's a family-owned shop, and the husband (owner and chef) and wife (front house/server) tag team. Again, they're not a Michelin restaurant nor do they pretend to be. This is a review for the Korean food (not Japanese side of the menu). I know I shouldn't have had high hopes for the Korean food given that they predominately do Japanese, but I just love it and wanted to see if this place would be an option besides going to Seoul Market cafe... Sundubu jigae is how I personally judge every Korean restaurant. This was seafood sundubu and it came with 2 mussels. That was it for seafood which is pitiful. It also interestingly had caramelized onions and a tomato in it which I've never seen before... overall, not great. My husband's dol sot bibimbap was actually good/on par with most Korean restaurants, so that was a pleasant surprise and the only thing boosting the ratings. Here's the worst part though: despite ordering Korean food, they do not serve banchan!! So you're paying the same prices or more than most Korean restaurants and don't get banchan. My husband's bibimbap came with a salad, but they told me that mine didn't come with the salad despite the menu suggesting it would. Overall, disappointing for Korean food, so just stick to the Japanese food that everyone seems to enjoy! read more

I came here to eat a late lunch/early dinner with my boyfriend on a Sunday. All the staff was wearing a mask, and half the tables for dine in were available, and there were a few other tables filled. Everyone working there was very friendly and helpful, even the chef stopped by each table to check in on how the food was. We ordered the agedashi tofu which came in a deliciously sweet and salty ponzu sauce. For entrees we got two of the specials - Japchae and Tteukguk. Japchae is a stir fry with potato noodles, veggies, and beef, and per the chef is usually eaten at parties. The Tteukguk is a Korean rice cake soup which had potato, beef, veggies, dumplings, which was perfect for the cold fall day! Also learned that this dish is usually made for the New Year. My boyfriend also ordered the Laba roll (shrimp tempura, spicy crab salad, salmon). We finished all the food! (And then had food comas) Meal for two for all the above was around $50. read more

I ordered a California Roll and the wife ordered a Tempura Shrimp Roll, along with Soondubu and Spicy Pork Bulgogi. Miso soup came out with the wife's meal and the broth looked rich. Sushi was good, although it wasn't anything out of the ordinary. Soondubu was pretty good too, although it needed a little less sesame oil. All in all, we'd definitely come back if we're in the area and looking for Korean food. Good service and authentic cooking make for a great experience! Oppa! Oppa! Love the name and the meaning behind the restaurant. I've recently began traveling for work to Comstock Park, and drive by this small restaurant everyday. Yesterday for lunch I was able to enjoy a traditional Korean dish called Japchae - it consists of glass noddles, an assortment of vegetables and meat that are delicately marinated in sesame oil. My husband, who's a Korean food enthusiast enjoyed the Oppa sushi roll and the Jjampong spicy seafood noodle soup. All three dishes, though different, were mouth-watering and gave us a small glimpse of the rich cuisine Korea has to offer. There is a small capacity, but that can easily be disregarded as Oppa is full of life and full of flavor! They do take out as well. Despite only being able to stay for a short while, the staff was welcoming and fast with their service. I hope to see Oppa expand and welcome other traditional dishes. read more
