The service was excellent, as was the food. The pork belly appetizer with a savory cornbread and tomato jam and arugula was outstanding as was the lobster pasta. These dishes (half portionof the lobster) made a full meal. Didn't have room for dessert. It was a very pleasant experience. read more

Nantucket is generally over-priced but for an outstanding restaurant that can be overlooked. Oran Mor is in that category. It is convenient, comfortable and has excellent food. So why only 4 stars? My martini before dinner was only average, but other family members enjoyed everything - including specialty drinks. I'm a tough grader. I would definitely return. read more

Went to Oran Mor last night - fantastic meal! Various members of the party tried the lobster, octopus, pierogi and foie gras appetizers, and all were deemed delicious. The duck entree was sensational. I also had bites of the pork chop, striped bass entrees and the scallop special entree, and they were equally excellent. The wine list was extensive, and we ended up with a very nice Italian white that paired nicely with everything. Only had room for one dessert to share, but the chocolate bread pudding didn't disappoint. Oh, and the second-story restaurant had charm to spare. We're already looking forward to a return visit. read more

We had dinner last night at this homey yet elegant restaurant. Not only was the food and wine outstanding the wait staff was knowledgeable and attentive. This review is for the worst service we've ever experienced at a restaurant that bills itself as a "fine dining" establishment. Our server told all the tables around us the specials but chose not to do so for us. In retrospect, maybe he determined at the outset our table was not worth his time because we didn't order a bottle of wine. Then he never once checked in on us, despite walking by our table 20x serving all the neighboring tables. Then after our plates were cleared (by someone else), we waited for 20 minutes expecting him to offer us dessert only for him to again serve all the neighboring tables (including serving food, clearing plates, refilling glasses--none of which was performed by him for our table) and completely ignore us. Eventually we asked to speak with the manager, which is when we discovered the likely source of the problem. The manager apologized as he had to do, but frankly, was nonchalant. To top it off, he said "well, servers do have to go to tables that order bottles of wine more." Wait, did he just justify the server ignoring us? Second, did he not internalize any of the actual issues that we experienced and explained to him? I couldn't believe my ears and couldn't stand wasting any more time there. Setting and maintaining quality standards needs to start at the top. We could not leave fast enough. Save your time, money, and serenity, and enjoy dinner ANYWHERE else. We would recommend Cru, which has much better food, outstanding service (think our guy was Alex), and a fun and high energy ambiance on a Friday night. read more

This was definitely one of the top five meals of my life (others - Blue Hill at Stone Barns, Degustation, Chez Panisse). Great little rooms, hardwood floors, low light, nice decor but not over the top. Good service - water, bread came at the right time, servers were nice but unobtrusive. First stop - cocktail for me - the cherry-spice rum concoction - handmade, original, fresh - wish I knew the recipe - it was delicious! Perfect glass, perfect garnish, the works. Appetizer - mushroom 'pierogis' for me - a misleading name - these were the lightest, flakiest most delicious apps ever - included beer, cheese, other (onion?) - just a perfect combination. Bottle of Peay Chardonnay for the table - perfection (I'm overusing the word but there's no - perfect - synonym). Entree - fluke with johnnycake polenta and squash. Yum (but app was still #1). Desserts - we were going to pass but upon seeing the menu - no. Coffee and doughnut ice cream? How do they do that?? Delicious, unique, could not end any better. Don't go to Nantucket and miss Oran Mor. read more

My wife and I go out at least twice a week for dinner, summer time is more often. We ate in the restaurant last year and had a very bad experience, if it wasn't for the bar tender whom tried to salvage the disastrous meal and service we would not have tried it again. We tried it again Saturday 11/5/16 and once again we were very disappointed. The waitress came over and took are drink order and told us the specials, then 20 minutes later (and mind you there were only a couple of people at the bar as well as 2 two top tables and 1 four top) the busier dropped off our drink. Another 20 minutes passed when she came over and took our order. At that time we told her we were going to order some wine, but first I asked her if they were out of Captain Morgan's because the drink she gave us was not Captain's. She said, "I don't know, its a dark rum, they are all the same....who cares anyways!" and then she walked away. That was the last time she came to our table or the two top next to us. Although, the waitress, hostess and some other gentlemen constantly appeared to take care of the four top table. Dinner was served by the busier, not sure if he spoke English because when I tried to address the fact that the waitress had not come over to our table, he just grinned and nodded his head. Now the dinner was horrible. Mine in particular because I ordered a rib eye steak which was $50 (extremely over priced). What I received was 3 tiny round piece of meat and a hollowed out potato with brown sauce (I guess to mimic bone marrow). The dish was gross!!!!!! I wouldn't even bring it home to my dog. All I could eat was two of the pieces of meat because the third was fatty and hard to cut. At this point, I did not drink my drink because it was wrong (got charged $10), the waitress never came back, so couldn't change the drink or order a bottle of wine...had to drink water the entire time, and for $50 I only got two piece of meat to eat which were only about 1" in diameter. My husband did not like the pork chop said it too was horrible. As often as we eat out (fine dinning and tip 25-35%) we have never had an experience like that. OM has always been one of our fav ACK restaurants. However, this season there are new owners so we were excited to try it. The service was great. We sat for over a half hour for our apps and then when they arrived we asked if we could have some bread and our waitress said that it would cost $4.00. I could tell she was embaressed because she went into the whole thing how it was home made. We were at LeLanguedoc the night before and Centre Street Bistro the night before and they both also make their bread 'in house'and it was much better bread, warm from the oven and like most places -no charge. We are on the island for the whole summer and eat out least 3-4 x a week and this was the first time I heard of an upscale place doing this. Our meals arrived much later and they were delicious. Overall a very good meal, nice atmosphere (unless you get stuck in the way back), but the bread charge should be taken off and then up the menu prices if they feel they have to do that. read more
