I would like to start by saying that I am a local in Orange County. I live down the street from the OC Mining Company. I chose to go dine in on Thursday 4/23/26 after a long day. When I arrived I asked to sit in the patio. The day and the weather was beautiful. So we w ated a view of the city to go with the weather. Come to find out I was told I couldn't dine in the patio due to happy hour limits and a mistake on the website. I asked for a manager and she corrected all the mis information. Her name is Kristin and she absolutely went out of her way to make it all better. I will forget the bad experience and continue to pick the OC Mining Company for a treat after a long day. I really wanted to like this place. The restaurant decor itself is really cool, giving you that theme park mining experience. But the prices for the food quality aren't making sense. I can't say enough good things about this place! We celebrated my son's 40th surprise birthday here, and everything was wonderful. We were a party of 18...6 children and 12 adults ... the experience exceeded our expectations. The buffet was amazing, with such a great variety of food, and the dessert selection was outstanding. The service was exceptional, and the view was absolutely breathtaking. A special thank you to Jana and Dominic, along with their wonderful helpers, Leif and Sebastian...you all made the day truly special. I am frankly shocked that this place doesn't have a 5 star rating. Ever since moving to SoCal many years ago my wife and I have come here at least once a year, if not more. We've been here for anniversary dinners, for brunches with friends, and it's always been a good time. The brunch is especially nice, you can enjoy crab legs while overlooking OC from a mountainside. Service is great! One downside is it is definitely on the pricier end, as many reviews have said. If you're looking for more of a bargain-type meal, which don't get me wrong is probably 90% of my family's meals, this isn't likely the best place for you for that. read more

Wow I'm in love with this restaurant and I'm happy to have found this through their 50th anniversary prime rib special at $23.50! It included so much: salad bar and soup bar and cheesey bread appetizer with the entree. I made a reservation for my party and they easily accommodated the change from 3 to 4 people. The views are gorgeous from sunset to night time. We went during a weekday so it was free parking instead of valet and you just know it wasn't as crowded as it could have been compared to a weekend night. I'd love to go one more time! read more

This place has always been a good experience, but this time the food portions, for the price, didn't add up. I got Baby back ribs which were delicious, and a baked potato, that was cooked perfectly. However, the baked potato was an up charge and was easily the smallest potato I've ever seen. The rack of ribs was a half rack at best, and for a 48 dollar plate, I'd think a full rack was doable. The salad bar came with it, which is nice, and had a solid selection. It also had soup options, which was cool. Service was on point and we had a trainee which was fun and enjoyable to watch, he did great!! They did a nice birthday dessert for my Dad and the server was so kind. She even asked if we wanted to sing, didn't just force it, which my Dad appreciated. We came Saturday 11/8/25, We set a reservation through Yelp for 6pm for 5 people, 3 adults 2 children. (We took family Christmas pics earlier in the day close by so we thought it would be fun to eat here since we were together and dressed up). I always had good memories coming here with the food, ambiance and service. The valet guys were so nice and prompt and the hostess girls were also nice and prompt and friendly. BUT... Our food took over an hour and a half to come out. Our total time here was 3 hours. We had little kids with us so I asked the server if she could see if the kids could get their food first since they were so hungry and getting antsy. She said the kitchen said the food was coming. She brought out everyone's food but the 2 kids. The kids food came out like 15 min later ... odd but ok ... Also I wanted to note when we sat down, we had to ask for kids menus, which I didn't even know they offered kids menus thankfully, my husband thought to ask. We got our drinks in super small cups (not sure if they ran out of regular cups or what)- the tables on both sides of us had regular cups. I asked the bus boy if I could get a regular size cup and he brought me one. Not sure why but we ordered soda, lemonade, iced tea and a roy roger's ...all drinks that aren't water cups. The food tasted good and everyone agreed the food was good. At the end ... I also ordered a dessert and the server said I didn't, so I had to order it again. Weird. ...during dinner my daughter had to use the restroom midway of eating, so I excused myself to come back to half of my food was taken by the bus boy and I wasn't finished eating! WHAT ugh very disappointing. I didn't want to re-order food cause that would take another hour and a half to get the rest of my food. The bus boys should ask if you're done eating before they just start taking plates. Very odd experience and we definitely won't ever come back. This place was really good and fun and now it's odd and weird. I don't know why it was so odd but it bothered me enough to write about it. I don't write bad reviews unless I'm really bothered, especially if we're spending money. We were all so excited to come here only to leave bummed out. I understand it was busy - maybe the staff was under staffed or under trained or they hate working here... I don't know but it shows there is an issue. We used to come here at least once a month and always enjoyed the bar ambiance, but the last two visits have really changed our opinion. Unfortunately, this place has become overrated, and we won't be adding Mining Company to our dining choices anymore. First, the parking situation is a mess. There are barely any self-parking spots because about 90% of the lot is reserved for valet. We ended up waiting around 20 minutes just to reach the front. If the goal is simply to charge for parking, they should just let guests self-park for $10. Waiting in line just to pay for parking is ridiculous. Second, even with reservations (group of 10) and arriving early, service was slow. It took about 15 minutes before anyone came by to take our drink orders. When the drinks finally arrived, two were incorrect, and no one checked back on us--we actually had to go find someone to ask who our server was. The margaritas and piña coladas were extremely sour and not enjoyable. It really feels like either they're short-staffed or there's a management issue. And to top it off one of our friends found a blonde hair in her food as she took a bite. Poor drink quality, hair n the food, and the valet chaos--waiting to park, waiting to leave, and paying for the whole inconvenience--made this a 2-star experience. The positive was and I should add each person we spoke with or talked to was very polite. We spoke with the manager about the hair and she was responsive to the situation and removed that dinner from the final bill. I hope they can make adjustments, we have had good events and celebrations there in the past. But hey the view is good.... read more

My first visit on April 4th was a genuinely great experience -- the server was attentive, the food was good, and I left excited enough to bring my whole family back for dinner the following week. Unfortunately, that second visit was a completely different story. When we arrived, two of our party had already been seated. At the host stand, two of the three hostesses were visibly on their phones. The third acknowledged us but simply said to "go all the way down" -- no gesture, no offer to walk us in. We wandered through the restaurant until we spotted our group ourselves. The service at the table continued that trend. Our server checked on us only to take our appetizer order and, eventually, our entrée order -- nothing in between. After our appetizer arrived, we waited another 20 minutes before she returned to take the entrée order. There was no check-in after either course was served. To make matters worse, cheese bread was listed as included with our meal but never came. When we asked, we were told by the server the kitchen had turned off the bread machine -- at around 9:00 PM, well before closing. The overall atmosphere felt disorganized, unprofessional and staffed by high school kids working their first summer job. My first visit set expectations I was genuinely excited about. This experience didn't come close to meeting them, and unfortunately we won't be returning. I hope this feedback is useful to whoever is responsible for improving things. read more

We celebrated our boys' birthdays here and brought our family of six out to dinner, it was perfect from start to finish. We've dined at the Pomona location before but had never been to this one. Our 11-year-old boys loved the theme of the restaurant, while my husband and I really appreciated the ambience. The view is breathtaking, and the service was exceptional. A special shout out to Jana, she had such a warm presence and was incredibly knowledgeable. For dessert, we ordered the mud pie and the baked cookie à la mode, and both were brought out with candles and custom plates inscribed in chocolate syrup with "Happy Birthday" and our boys' names. Everything about this place is great except the fact that the entire place smelled like pink cheap bathroom soap throughout the entire place. It was a HUGE distraction from the ambiance and the cleaning product smell took away from the experience. We smelled pink soap And flaming products instead of food. An input to make This place better - please please tone it back on the fake fragrance, cleaning products and soaps. Let it smell like the outdoor experience it should smell like. First timer here and I was excited to try their September prime rib special! We had reservations and when we got there and only had to wait 5-10 minutes to be seated. Our server was great and attentive. Now let's get into the food: I enjoyed the salad bar, the prime rib was tender but a little too salty for my liking and lots of fat(I was told that's normal), my side which I chose mashed potatoes tasted like dirt, but my margarita was delicious! So happy with our experience tonight. This was our first visit and we will be back. I would post photos but we ate the delicious food went before we could get a photo. The server Lala was so sweet and anticipated our needs. The manager Kristen is amazing. She knows how to treat customers and had amazing recommendations. Belen was our waitress and she was fantastic, very attentive and accommodating. She didn't rush us either [which is one of our least favorite trends at restaurants]. Somewhere between one of the Chinese cheap buffets and a hotel buffet. Toughest prime rib I ever tried to eat. Snow crab, but low quality and dirty and shrimp that you have to shell yourself that still have the poop vine in them. Really poor service for a buffet as you are the server and essentially your server is a bus person who only fills drinks and takes your dirty plates. My family and I dropped by on a Sunday evening to try this place for the first time. Being so close in proximity to Orange Hill--fun fact the place where we held our wedding--we thought it was due time for us to give Orange County Mining Co. a whirl. The restaurant is located on a small hill, has valet parking, and *very important* for those who have mobility issues and or strollers, an entrance to the left before the main parking lot. This restaurant really lives up to its name. It really does look like an abandoned mining building which adds to the charm. Rustic, western theme permeates throughout. The view outside of course is what many would comment on and it does not disappoint especially during sunset. Now on to the food. Their entrées come with their unlimited soup and salad bar. You heard that right, unlimited! I went for the French onion and my wife went with the cream of spinach. Both soups were absolutely delicious. Wanting to save room for the actual entrée, we opted to share a small plate of a variety of their salad bar offering. Where the first home run struck is their ridiculously delicious cheesy bread! I don't know what's in it, nor do I want to find out, but that thing is so addicting it would have your friendly neighborhood addict absolutely obsessed with it! Now on to the entrée. My wife ordered the 19 oz bone-in ribeye and I opted for the bbq pork ribs. The bone-in ribeye, medium done, was perfectly cooked. It was paired with chunky mashed potatoes and broccolini. Steak was done absolutely magnificently. Now on to the disaster. The ribs were so hard that if I were to smash my car into it, my car would be damaged. The ribs were cooked so badly that I actually commented it seemed like it was killed three times. I told our server and she quickly attempted to remedy the problem. Unfortunately, it took a while for my replacement entrée to come out, which led me to nibble on my wife's steak. After a wait, my entrée finally came out and I was able to eat. I opted for the pork chop as a replacement, which was also delicious. At the end of the service, I expressed my disappointment to our server. She had not attempted to perform a service recovery, nor even recognized that my wife and I were celebrating a special occasion. At this point, I was completely turned-off by this restaurant and decided to no longer make a return visit. However, Rob, the manager graciously came out, apologized for the mishap and complemented the replacement dish for me given that I had to wait for a while. He also graciously offered to provide us a complementary dessert, which we declined on account that we were already stuffed. It is these kinds of service recovery that really saves a restaurant's reputation. And I am thankful to Rob for doing what he did. Final verdict: beautiful view, western ambience, and delicious food, when done right. Would I make a comeback and dig for some more goodness at this mine, the answer is a resounding yes! read more

Well - I was kind of disappointed. My family and I haven't been back to Orange County Mining Co since they'd reopened after Covid and really just felt incredibly nickel and dimed. To start, they only offered valet parking (on a Saturday) with no other option. Previously they didn't charge for Valet parking and we would tip both the drop off and pick up ... they had no sign advising of price, and we ended up tipping $5 each way and also got charged $9 for the pleasure of parking. Once we sat down, our hostess was lovely and we went ahead and placed our order. I asked to upgrade my mashed potato to a baked potato - she said sure, $8.00! I don't realize that was just the added size price - I should have had the option of another side. The salad bar is in a different area now and offers much less choice than it used to. Overall everything just felt less so than it used to be and ended up being quite expensive. This used to be a spot we would go to for every few months, now ... This place is a good spot to go to if you're looking a meal with a view. It is gorgeous when the sun is setting. I've been here a couple times over the years (whether for dinners or for cross country banquets) and it was pretty good each time. I definitely wouldn't say this is one of the better steaks I've had by any means. There wasn't the wow factor to the steak that I was looking for. The mashed potatoes were really yummy though and their bread was too. It's neat that they have a soup and salad bar but not necessary to waste your appetite on if you're trying to save for your meal. For the most part the service was good except for having for a to go bag for a little longer than expected. Overall my experience at the Orange County Mining. Company was enjoyable. My only con was trying to get reservations. Trying to make reservations for a party of 11 needs to be easier! I called twice and no answer so tried online but we needed to call since our party was large but when I called for the 3rd time it said I had exceeded the number of calls I could make . So my aunt had to try and call and make the reservations. The valet ($8)- the young men were working hard and running back and forth but I wish there were more Kennedy and Mark were our servers- great energy, friendly and helpful and came back and made sure we had enough water and how was our food and d drinks and got our boxes when needed. And also let us give them different cards to put towards the check which I know most places don't do. I got the filet mignon and garlic mashed potatoes ($45). The filet mignon was cooked medium well and so tender and flavorful. The hubby got prime rib and garlic mashed potatoes($44)-all the entrees come with salad and soup bar. The salad and soup bar had 2 soups and chili and a nice size salad bar with toppings and salad dressing choices and some fruit and pasta salad options. We ordered some appetizers which were calamari, coconut shrimp, cocktail shrimp and artichoke dip.($14-16 each) and the perfect size for about 4 people to have at least one. We were celebrating my in laws anniversary and were able to bring in a cake for dessert which was nice. They even rang the bell and shouted out a happy anniversary for them! The snow crab, prime rib, and Eggs Benedict (you have to ask your waiter for it, but there was no up-charge) were all standout hits, and the view was gorgeous.
