The food was so filling and delicious! Their service was on point and very considerate whenever we would hop outside to take pics of the view. The manager was so sweet for checking on us and asking if we needed a bag for our leftover box. Highly recommend for a dinner date or any occasion with that view!
Beautiful views, great ambiance, and a solid dining experience! I came to Orange Hill Restaurant for a work event, where we were served a buffet-style meal featuring steak and salmon. Overall, the food was delicious and definitely enjoyable. The sourdough bread was an absolute hit, probably one of my favorite parts of the meal! That said, I think Orange Hill is really more about the vibes, ambiance, and views than the food itself. Everything we had was good, but nothing was particularly amazing or memorable from a culinary standpoint. That being said, the views definitely make it worth coming back. It's a beautiful spot with a great atmosphere, and I'd happily return for the scenery and experience, especially for a special occasion or a nice evening out. Overall: Come for the views, stay for the vibes!
I was tempted to give four stars, but these five stars are for the employees mentioned by name below... We stopped in around 7 PM to enjoy a round of drinks and take in the sunset in the bar area. All the shades were drawn. I approached the bar. There were two bartenders covering the area. One literally walked in the other direction when I approached. She was so obviously dismissive, like she was done for the day. Except she wasn't. She just made an arbitrary decision to not do the basics of her job. A quick "Hello, we will be with you in a minute." seemed like customer service 101. We waited. And waited. Finally the other bartender acknowledged the presence of a customer. In an attempt to be respectful, I asked if we could open the shades at our table prior to doing so. I was told "It's going to be hot but that's fine." 7pm. Restaurant on a hill. Mainly known for its views. All shades drawn. I explained the sun was setting. We pulled open the shades. We sat. We waited. And waited. And then flagged someone down. Fortunately, from here on out the encounters were pleasantly professional. Matt and Cassidy provided us with great customer service. Emma the hostess got the memo and was warm and welcoming. And Alex the valet was so professional and kind... actually all the valet staff we encountered were professional and kind. The aforementioned were the standouts ~ warm, personable, professional, and clearly people who take pride in their work. I especially wanted to recognize them because, in contrast to our initial interactions, they seemed to maintain a sense of professionalism and propriety throughout their entire shift, rather than providing it selectively. I hope management sees this as an opportunity to reinforce a culture of consistency. Hospitality shouldn't feel dependent on who happens to be serving you at a given moment.
I am flabbergasted that this restaurant only has 3.6 stars. I flew in from Florida the morning I came here. I had planned to go to Laguna, but after such a long flight, I couldn't make myself sit in the car for another hour. Instead, I looked for a restaurant with a view closer to Anaheim. That's how I stumbled upon this gem. First, the front is gorgeous with water features and a little pond. There is a fireplace out front. The view from inside is amazing with the sunset. It would be a fabulous location for events! (There were two events happening when I came for dinner.) Just note it is valet only! I showed up 15 minutes before my reservation, and I was seated right away. The hostess was very nice. I had mentioned to the hostess that I was starving, and she told my waiter who made sure not to disappoint. Jenner was my waiter, and he was great! He was very attentive and offered me great recommendations, which is probably why my meal was darn near perfect. First, THEY GIVE YOU COMPLIMENTARY HONEY CORNBREAD. When I saw Jenner walking up to my table with that giant hunk of corn mealy goodness I about died of happiness. It was so yummy! For my app, I got the tomato burrata salad. That was the highlight of my meal. (Surprising after how I spoke about the cornbread, no?) This salad comes with a huge ball of burrata on top of a pile of tomatoes, peaches, and fennel. It was sweet, it was creamy, it was herbaceous...it was PERFECTLY refreshing. (Definitely not a one person salad. Trust me.) My entree was the Wild Mushroom Pappardelle Pasta with truffle whipped ricotta and basil. I added chicken since my protein was lacking today. The noodles were cooked perfectly. The pasta was creamy, but the truffle was not in the room with us. I love mushrooms, truffle, and basil, so that was a bummer, but honestly, I can't remove a star for that. I washed this all down with a nice glass of wine, and I left feeling fat and sassy...and with three boxes of leftovers. My eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach, but if you think I left a morsel of food on that table, think again. Update: I finished the burrata salad and cornbread for breakfast...it was just as good. I wish I had more.
I've dined here several times and have also worked a few events, and I've always had positive experiences. The biggest highlight is, without a doubt, the view. Perched on a hill overlooking the city, it's especially beautiful at sunset and after dark. The scenery alone makes it a wonderful spot for a date night or a special occasion. The food has been consistently enjoyable. The hors d'oeuvres served at the events I've attended were all delicious, and during a previous dinner I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass, which was excellent. It was cooked just the way I like it, moist and flaky with a firm texture rather than soft and mushy. My only real complaint is the parking. The restaurant uses valet, and I wish there were a self-parking option instead. Personally, I'd rather park my own car than pay for valet when the parking area is right there. It also puts guests in the awkward position of feeling obligated to tip on top of the valet fee. That said, the beautiful setting, great food, and overall atmosphere make this a place I'd gladly return to, especially for a special evening with an amazing view.
The restaurant is amazing, the views are spectacular, food was good. Took my daughter and my parents for her 29th birthday . Staff was very friendly (Jasmine was very helpful). It's pricey for what it is. Calamari was amazing. Hopefully one day I'll get to go back.
Ambiance: Absolutely gorgeous! Reservation required so plan early and get the outdoor seating at the golden hour to enjoy the sunset. Indoor seating is very nice as well. We had a private booth like area. Food: The house corn bread is spectacular! Freshly made from kitchen and when you taste with the pink salt or their house chili butter, it's a whole other level! The prime rib was great and the 50/50 mash that comes with it is amazing as well. On the other hand, the miso marinated sea bass was cooked so well that it melted in your mouth but the black rice is a bit too sweet. Their deserts are just okay, so I'd suggest keep your stomach for a local creamery.
Came here to experience the beauty I was told it had. The view is good, but it would be better without the smog. As you walk in, they have a small bridge path that has Koi Fish underneath the water. We had made a reservation, so the wait was only 5 minutes. The place is simply decorated, nothing stood out, but the view was awesome. The Corn bread was nothing to brag about. We all ordered the steaks, and they were not bad. They have some fancy drinks, but after a couple of drinks not remember the names of them. Our main complaint was that the area we sat in the AC went out, and they said it was on. NO IT WASN'T. They have inside and outside seating . Not a bad place if you like the best view of the city.

My boyfriend surprised me with a reservation at Orange Hill for my birthday! I had a wonderful time. Our reservation was conveniently made through the OpenTable app. Parking is valet. We were seated promptly at our reservation time of 7:15pm. The restaurant is gorgeous and sits on a hill overlooking the city of Orange. During the summer, there is a breathtaking view of the sunset right at dinnertime. Our server was Ailyn, who was such a sweetheart. She took amazing care of us and went above and beyond to provide us excellent service. Complimentary cornbread is provided, served with a drizzle of honey, Himalayan sea salt, and a cayenne infused butter. The butter is so good and really makes the cornbread shine. I had the "Paid Vacation" cocktail, served in a glass ball swinging on a crescent moon shaped hanger. Everything about this drink from its presentation to its flavors was loud, fun, and summery. You are given a Szechuan flower to nibble on before sipping your drink, numbing your tongue with a mala tingling sensation. The drink itself is vodka based with passionfruit. I loved the tropical taste and playful presentation. This drink is one of four "main character" cocktails that one would order if one desired the attention of the entire room. And it was my birthday, so of course I did. For our appetizers, we got the caviar frites and crispy rice tuna tartare. The caviar frites were perfectly crispy and seasoned. I loved the accompaniments such as the vodka creme fraiche and dollops of caviar. The crispy rice tuna tartare was plated beautifully. The tuna was fresh and spicy, and I loved the crispy rice on the bottom. At this point in our meal, Ailyn advised us to take pictures with the gorgeous sunset on the patio while we waited for our entrees. A small handful of people were doing the same. The sunset was especially breathtaking from our vantage point. I could see every layer of the rainbow embedded in the blazing California sky. I had the filet mignon and added an Atlantic lobster tail. The filet was so tender and juicy. The lobster tail was cooked perfectly. I really liked the side of 50/50 mashed potatoes as well. The mash was extremely creamy and the crispy bits of potato "hay" on top were delicious. I had a lovely experience at Orange Hill. I would definitely come back.

Very good prime rib and short ribs. Loved the mashed potatoes and broccolini. Very nice music in the dining room. Great service waiters are nice and overall a wonderful dining experience. Valet parking is $10. View is spectacular. The feel of being in La Jolla sans ocean! Haven't been here in 45 years and now will come again a bit sooner next time. Drive up the hill is quite the thrill.
Not a huge fan of the food here, but the views are nice. Parking is on site, but there is a $10 valet fee. Once seated, you do enjoy the view. My friends and I dined at night so we were able to enjoy the city lights and even see the Disneyland fireworks. We ordered a lot of different things like the tuna over crispy rice, which was good. Coconut shrimp, which was OK. I ordered the tomato and burata salad, which was not good at all. The salad came with peaches that I was expecting for it to be grilled peaches, but these were canned peaches that were put in the salad that did not pair well with the dish. We also tried the butter fish, which was good, the short rib and the chicken. We ordered drinks, which I believe is what they're really known for. Very sugary for our taste but if you like sweet drinks, they have plenty to offer. The service was OK there were times in the night where we were waiting for our server to come around so we can ask for more water or extra napkins.
This is one of my best friend's favorite restaurants so she took me here while I was in town. Beautiful view and the food was wonderful. I ordered the miso Chilean sea bass. The sea bass was smooth and buttery and was perfect. Love the broccolini it came with. Also tried the squid ink bucatini. It was delicious as well. Loved the shrimp. A Magical Evening at Orange Hill Orange Hill has officially become one of my favorite spots in OC. The hill view during sunset is beautiful, and the fireplace area at night makes the whole place feel extra cozy. As much as I'd like to find something bad about the night, I think that our birthday celebration with the family was a successful one at orange hill. The reservation was made and we were able to get a requested seat near the view, we had attentive service throughout the night and it was a busy Saturday night as well, the food was all cooked to our request and it was delicious, and the overall ambiance was a modern steakhouse / not to those that feel too too fancy or anything like that. It fulfilled a nice dinner out on a beautiful view. I'd recommend the steak progresive plate as it has all of the cuts that we wanted to try and it is plenty enough for two people. read more

Best ribeye in my life. No exaggeration or gushing. Every single thing we ordered was 10/10. The portions did not skimp, and the quality of ingredients was clearly A+. An upscale dining experience without the pomp, without the attitudes. From the hostess to our server, and everyone in between - thoroughly inviting service. I was excited to have my birthday dinner here with my daughter and boyfriend, because not only is it gorgeous but also very family friendly which I enjoyed. The food was amazing, the service was fast and friendly, and I was so happy to be seated outside where we enjoyed the beautiful view. We tried so many things on the menu, my only issue was the caviar fries tasted pretty regular, but everything else pictured below was sooo tasty! read more
I've heard about Orange Hill since moving to OC a few years ago, and decided to give it a try for Valentine's dinner. We were blown away with just how good everything was. For dinner we each got the prime rib, and then I got a dirty martini with blue cheese olives to drink. All were 10/10. The views of OC cannot be beat--definitely recommend sitting on the patio as close to the edge as possible. There are heaters in the outdoor seating area, so no need to get worried about being cold. read more

I had the pleasure of attending a gala at Orange Hill Restaurant, and I have to take a moment to recognize Emily for her exceptional service. I'm not typically a fan of chocolate cake, so I asked a few servers if there was any chance of getting a slice of cheesecake instead. Each one kindly said they would check, but unfortunately, no one followed up and nothing ever came. The gala had wrapped up, and I stepped away from my table to enjoy the terrace, assuming it just wasn't going to happen. To my surprise, Emily went above and beyond. She actually came outside to find me and personally delivered a slice of cheesecake. I had already let it go, but she hadn't. Her commitment to follow through and ensure a great guest experience truly stood out. At an event full of activity, Emily demonstrated what outstanding hospitality really looks like. Her professionalism, attentiveness, and genuine care did not go unnoticed. Moments like this make a lasting impression. Emily deserves to be recognized for her dedication to excellence. Had a co-worker reunion on a Thursday evening at Orange Hill. I didn't research ahead of time, but the parking is Valet only, but they do take card. I didn't get to see the view at the top of the restaurant since it was cloudy and raining that day, but I'm sure it would have been very nice. The restaurant itself is large and has ample seating for large parties, which makes sense as its also an event space. Our server was super friendly and provided many great recommendations and checked up on us often. The food is good, but a little pricey, I'd recommend this as a great date spot or for a special occasion. My only negative thing I would say is that we did have to wait a long time to order our food and for everything to come out. read more

Although I had already been in the past, I did not think service would be so poor when it came to getting our food. First off, our drinks took at least 20-25 mins to get to our table (coke, lemonade, espresso martini, One in a Melon) Then, our appetizers took at least 35-40mins to get to our table( Caviar Frites & Wagyu Pink Brick) To top it off our entrees take another 40mins to get to our table. We had reservations for 7:45p didn't get seated 20 mins after and probably didn't start eating our main entrée maybe little before they were closing and by that time I feel we ate so quick that dinner was not enjoyable. I was thinking of making reservations for the end of this month and celebrate my son's birthday but after last reservation I am highly doubtful now. When it came to our food and flavors, there's definitely no complaining. The only reason why it's not anything lower star wise was because our server was very kind and kept checking on our order. read more
Not my first time coming, but came today with some girlfriends for brunch, and had the most amazing time! Cali was incredibly hospitable as though we were in her own home, taking care of us. She didn't miss a beat, and every time we needed a refill or a refresher, she was right there. The food and cocktails were beautiful and full of flavor! I came here two nights ago a friend and I split our whole meal. We got the appetizer deviled eggs, the potato with the caviar, a steak and vegetable. The both of us got food poisoning. I left a voicemail. Never got a call back very expensive restaurant to get food poisoning at. We attended a company party and arrived around 6:00 pm. Upon arrival, cars were being turned away and directed to overflow parking at Santiago Canyon College. Unfortunately, the instructions provided were very limited. We spent about 15 minutes driving around trying to find where the shuttle pickup was located and eventually had to call members of our party for clarification. We finally found a parking lot where others were waiting for the shuttle. A Mercedes-Benz shuttle van arrived (about 15 passengers) and took us to the restaurant. When my husband was exiting the van, he tripped on the steps and fell to the ground. Thankfully he was not seriously injured, but his brand-new suit was torn with a large hole. My daughter also noticed that several other passengers stumbled slightly while stepping down, though they did not fall. When we looked carefully at the van later, the steps appeared to have extra layers and were quite narrow, making them difficult to see clearly especially when exiting at night. Whether this was an issue with the shuttle vehicle itself or with the overall parking and transportation arrangement, the experience felt poorly managed. With limited parking, clearer instructions or valet service would have made a big difference. Overall, this was an unpleasant and stressful start to what should have been a nice evening, and unfortunately resulted in damage to an expensive suit. read more

Lovely spot with a beautiful view. A little cold outside but that's where we had to sit as we had our puppy with us. The service was great. The fire pit and heating lamps helped to warm us! Overall had an amazing time and the food was great. The crispy rice tuna tartare and the calamari were delicious but I felt the calamari had too many veggies mixed in. The prime rib and hanger steak were cook to perfection. The aged burger was my favorite it was so delicious with the bacon onion marmalade. We came back to Orange Hill because our first experience was amazing, but this second visit was completely disappointing. Parking was overcrowded -- we had to park about 3 minutes away and take a shuttle back, which felt unorganized and inconvenient . Once seated, our server, Lauren S,didn't offer the complimentary cornbread that every other table around us received (including the couple next to us who also didn't get any). We had to wait over an hour just to get our salmon, and when the meal was finally done, our server brought us to-go boxes instead of even offering dessert. The service overall was horrible and felt careless. It's unfortunate because our first time here was so special, but after this visit, we won't be coming back. Definitely not worth the 1+ hour drive anymore. read more

My husband and I celebrated NYE with Orange Hill and enjoyed their 6 courses and champagne celebration at midnight. Server was very attentive but often talked to us like we'd never been to a nice restaurant before.... But still super sweet and helpful throughout the night. We've been here a few times for dinner and/or drinks. So far, I've never experienced any issues with the drinks, food or service. Thank you Orange Hill!! read more

I went to Orange Hill Restaurant to celebrate my birthday on a Monday night. My friend called ahead and made a reservation for 8:00 PM. We specifically requested to be seated outside, but when we arrived, the host told us there would be a 30 to 40-minute wait for outdoor seating. I asked why we even made a reservation if we still had to wait, and the host responded rudely, saying, "Because we're busy." To make things worse, we noticed people without reservations being seated ahead of us. When we were finally seated, the hostess dropped the plates on the table without a word--her attitude was unprofessional and disappointing. I believe management should work on properly training their staff, especially in customer service. (Her name was Semantha.) The one highlight of our night was our server, Alex. He was kind, attentive, and truly the reason I'm giving this place 3 stars because of our server Alex. We ordered the Filet Mignon, which was cooked perfectly and very flavorful. As an appetizer, we had the calamari, which was just okay. We also ordered two cocktails, which took about 20 minutes to arrive--our appetizer came before our drinks! The main reason I chose this restaurant was for the view and ambiance, which truly are beautiful. If I return, it will only be for the atmosphere--not the service. read more

My first comment regarding the debt on the building and property. When interest rates were ground level low, didn't you take the time to refinance to help keep mortgage down and prices affordable? Pre- seating bar experience was shocking! $22.00 for a Cranberry Vodka? Too much! The booths' tables along the wall overlooking the floor level tables next to the windows don't adjust for full grown adults!? When did that happen? I believe the answer is, during the remodeling. By the way it looks nice, more modern and lighter but the blinds need to be dropped a little sooner for those blinded by the sunlight setting in the West coming directly in the windows. Ok, now for the good stuff! The food was delightful and my steak was perfect! Thank you! The mashed potatoes were perfectly blended and vegetables along with the salad crispy after cooking perfectly! The desserts are White House presentable and delectably enjoyable! The staff is attentive and friendly but American culture doesn't call somebody Mr John. The mister is a prefix to the last name. It is an irritant even though it is polite. A staff meeting will fix this simple but irritating minimal distraction. The bill, If it includes the tip it should be brought to the attention of the customer and a note on the bill informing the customers that the employees now no longer pay tax on their tips. Point(s) to be made, when the waiter is assigned to the table, there should not be 2 or more attendants beside the waiter serving. Perhaps the restaurant policy should be added to the customer footnotes letting the customer know who the tip is divided amongst. This is becoming a sore-point with the more savi customers and with big customer bills comes big tips at now untaxed 20+% tips. Why do the servers not let the customer know the tip has already been added to the bill? I know the answer and it's a truly deceptive practice of maybe the customer won't notice and double tip. Infuriating! The parking. Customers all ask the same questions all night,"Does this parking fee cover the tip when leaving? Here's my problem, the parking attendants expect $5.00+ for parking our vehicles but what about the other 30 seconds to retrieve it? Is that ANOTHER $5.00+ tip?!? Please lay out the answers for us here once and for all so we know how to behave financially. I've been coming to this hill since BEFORE the restaurant was built and was called RJ Hill and was a big flat place for CBers to sit and talk on our radios. read more

Our experience would indicate no. Read the fine print on the coupon. I t most likely reads not valid for Happy Hour. They are looking for customers to "dine in" for lunch or dinner in the dining room.

Anyone know if all my guests need to arrive at the same time to be seated or can the "on time" people get started with drinks while we wait? I tried calling but line just rings.
We had about 7 guests and they said 6 had to be there in order for us to be seated, but since it was a surprise birthday for one of our guests, they said we could be seated as we arrived. So you would have to confirm with them

Yes. We brought a bottle of champagne. We were charged a $35 corkage fee, so the price is pretty high in my opinion.

Valet parking $9 if you want to self park, you can do it at the bottom of the hill but it's worth it if you have a cake to bring and you're wearing heels
To get the best outside view, Should I come during the day or night?
