The service and food were phenomenal compared to the last time I was here. My fiancé and I decided to celebrate our engagement together at Orange Hill and it was a lovely experience. We made reservations with Mark (the manager) in 2020 but we couldn't make it due to the lock down so he accommodated us yesterday. I guess postponing the date was meant to be because now we have a social occasion to celebrate to! If all goes well, we might choose this place for our wedding venue. Valet parking is mandatory. We forgot our masks inside the car and were about to run out in the rain to get it but the gentleman was really nice and offered us pre-wrapped masks. We kept in mind to give them a good tip! When we entered the restaurant, we were greeted and escorted to the table by the window. The city view was romantic despite the rain outside. When it finally stopped, we went outside and took a few selfies by the fire pit. The food was excellent! They started us with complimentary cornbread with honey butter. The crab cake was highly recommended so we ordered that as well. We loved the Brussels sprouts and sweet potatoes salad that came with the crab cake. The sauce added the extra oomph. The non-alcoholic strawberry daiquiri was not too sweet but still satisfied my sweet tooth. Entrees: Bone-In Ribeye: my fiancé loved it! He got medium rare and it came out perfectly. He smiled after every bite and ate half of it without the sauce because "great meat doesn't need sauce to taste good". Broiled Lobster: lobster was soft and juicy. It came with creamy mashed potatoes and broccolinis. Loved the combo because everything tasted great together. I got my greens, carbs and seafood all in one plate! Sides: Wild Mushroom Fricassee: generous portions of mushrooms. However, it was a bit too salty and oily for me. The cream on top acts as a base to balance out the flavor of the mushrooms but it was still too overpowering for me. Although we wanted to try their dessert menu, we didn't have room in our stomach. Mark came to our table to check in with us and we told him that we had a great time. We decided to get the wedding coordinator's card and check out two of their wedding rooms which could host 150-200 guests with variation of outdoor seating and tents. I wanted to have my post proposal party here. I hear the views are amazing, but the food is mid. But then again, I heard the views more than makeup for the food. So I was sold to have it here, for about 19 or so people. I first made an inquiry online for a party that size. Then I called them ad well since I didn't hear back from them. They said for a party that size I would need to order from a preset menu, which I was fine with. They said they would email it to me, and once I decided what I wanted to order, they would then confirm my reservation. Waited a couple of days, no reply. Called them again, and they said they would email me the menu shortly. Waited a couple more days, and still nothing. Called a 3rd time, and they saw my name on the reservation list for my particular day but said they were waiting on me to confirm my menu options. I explained that I still hadn't received their menu. They said they would send it again. That was over 3 weeks ago. Needless to say, I have given up hope of eating here and have found another place to celebrate this happy occasion. Went for an early-birthday dinner and our server Anthony was the KINDEST and most thoughtful waiter we've ever met. When we told him we were gonna share a dish, he went ahead and served it to us separately-plated, without us asking. He read our minds and made the food-sharing experience so much more convenient. Anthony made me feel very special when he brought out a complimentary birthday dessert and I could tell he was genuinely happy seeing us enjoy our meal. My boyfriend and I wanted to come out to celebrate a beautiful evening together and we booked our reservation at 6:30pm on a Friday night. The food was good and the view was beautiful but what made the experience unforgettable was the list of unfortunate circumstances that occurred. There were children screaming and crying and I got flashed by a child who was complaining that they needed to pee. Their parents ignored them long enough to the point where the child pulled their pants down and screamed "I'm going to pee right here!" The waitress, my boyfriend and I, and a few onlookers were shocked and the parents picked up their child (mind you the child's pants and underwear were still down) and ran to the bathroom. The child was rowdy and throwing toys around. This was supposed to be a nice and romantic evening but the ambience was immediately ruined by parents bringing their young and rowdy children to a supposedly higher end restaurant. As we were leaving, a group of about 4-5 young children were playing around near the small ponds and waterfall area at the entrance to the restaurant. They were going behind the railing and into the pond water area and one of the young children kicked a big rock into the pond and it splashed onto my legs and feet as I was walking by with my boyfriend. I was shocked and turned around and looked at the parents and child but the parents pretended not to notice and the children were talking amongst each other saying "See? I told you not to do that". Walking back to the $10 valet area to get our car ($10.50 if you pay by card), the same children who pushed the rocks into the pond and splashed water everywhere, were chasing after a relative when their car was pulling up to the curb. They were really close to getting hit by one of the moving cars but my goodness, that was genuinely so dangerous. They began bringing deserts, I asked one of the waitresses to remove all the food plates from 3 of the tables. She went to the back and hasn't come back out now for 10 minutes. Hubby took me here for a birthday surprise. He made reservations early in advance so that we could be here right when they open to get the best seat for the view. The restaurant is also very accommodating to pets on the patio as long as they are on leash, so our little pug got to join us on my birthday celebration. We arrived right as the restaurant opened. We drove up the hill which gave beautiful scenic views of Orange and the rest of the city. They only have valet here, so make sure to bring cash for that. As for food, hubby and I each got our plate of their grass fed beef sliders, crispy Brussel sprouts and a side of garlic fries. We just wanted a few quick bites since our little pug got a bit antsy sitting in the sun for too long. Nonetheless, our food came out at a reasonable time. The beef sliders were really juicy. The bacon jam, garlic aioli, and blue cheese all complement the beef patty so well. My only complaint is that the patty was a bit over salted, but it was still good. As for the fries, they were really good but you have to eat them fast or they'll get a bit soft. The brussel sprouts were tasty but so charred that it tasted burnt. Our server also offered me a small slice of birthday cake to celebrate my birthday. She was extremely attentive and made sure we felt comfortable and had everything we had needed during our time at Orange Hill. He put a note that we would prefer outside however if not if we could at least have a window seat. Our experience of the year!!! We got lucky and were able to make reservations for July 4 evening (something that has been on my "bucket list " for years. Our reservation was at 6:15 with a projected sunset at 8:06pm. Arrived early and greeted by very friendly valet staff who were very professional and drove the car slowly, not like others who think parking cars is meant for speed demons! Since we arrived early, we sat at the bar and enjoyed a Long Island iced tea and a mai tai which were fantastic! Also ordered a dozen oysters, 6 east coast and 6 west coast. Both types fantastic! When seated, discovered we were next to the glass outdoors on the patio with a phenomenal view of the entire LA & Orange County basin, and next to the fire pit which kept the temperature perfect when the sun went down. The charcuterie board we ordered had 4 meats, salami, prosciutto and 2 others. Also 3 cheeses, blue Cheese, a smoked variety and a German? type. Couldn't remember all the names but would certainly order again! Dinner was very delicious and perfectly prepared filet with a huge baked potato! Several drinks later followed by 2 hours of the best view of the city fireworks(both the professional and amateur) and a very tasty anniversary celebration piece of cake topped off one of the most memorable nights we've ever had!! Not sure why the recent reviews seemed so negative, my husband and I had a great experience celebrating our 10 year dating anniversary this past Sunday. This restaurant is valet only, so make sure you are prepared! We were seated right away when we arrived at the restaurant, and got a nice view near the window, seated inside avoiding the heat. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and had recommended some great drinks. We got the smoke and honey (whiskey) and the one in a melon (fruity mixed drinks). We dove right into the entree knowing we wanted to get the tomahawk steak. We added a side of wild mushroom fricasee as well. The tomahawk steak was cooked to perfection, just the medium rare that we had wanted! It was frenched well, and de-boned for ease of consumption, especially at such a fancy restaurant. Steak was well seasoned, the only negative is it steak had a bit of fat in it, I only wished it to be leaner. Half way through the meal, it was perfect sunset time. The staff members lowered the umbrellas so everyone could enjoy the view. It was gorgeous! They gave us a decadent chocolate cake to celebrate our anniversary to round out the night. I'd read a lot about this place and had always wanted to try it out.....and finally found a good excuse to come check out this place.....to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. From the looks of it, most of the other guests that were here were also celebrating an anniversary, birthday, or some other special event. We decided we wanted to enjoy the outdoor patio with its awesome panoramic views of the city, horizon, and taking in some of that hilltop fresh air....best part was that we showed up early and so were able to choose the best table available. Just note that there is plenty of parking here, but it's valet only, and at a parking charge of $8. From the time we showed up and were greeted by the host, to being seated and taken care of our server, to enjoying our food order, everything went quite well. It's really hard to find anything to complain about......unless you dislike the sound of planes regularly flying over, keep in mind that this location is right on the flight path, so the sounds of planes can be a bit annoying. But that view though....wow....it's really an experience in itself and a definite must experience. So, as for the food, everything on the menu sounded delicious, but we finally decided on the Crab Cakes to start off, the Whole Crispy Snapper, the Dry-aged Ribeye steak, and a side of Broccoli/broccolini, .....the meal comes with a complimentary serving of their special corn bread. Overall, the food we found quite good....the crab cake was very good...hot and fresh, nice crispy outside, moist and tender crab filling inside, and yummy with just a touch of the sauce provided. My wife said the ribeye steak was very good.....a bit dry, but still good. My "crispy" snapper was quite good too.....I was a bit puzzled how they considered this "crispy"....but later learned that the fish fillets were grilled and the snapper carcass was deep fried.....yea, parts of the fried carcass was a bit crispy, but none of the fillets were crispy at all. Still tasted good though....with a small squirt of lime that came on the side. Be careful not to overdo the lime though as it packs a pretty big sour punch that overwhelms the flavor of the fish. A final mention on the snapper is the presentation....it was very artfully put together, but that fried snapper head looked like something scary out of the movie "Predator." We both enjoyed their freshly baked corn bread....but in the cold weather outside, it loses its hot and comforting bite pretty quickly....it should really be baked and served in a mini iron skillet. Finally, we realized why at the start of the dining experience they had asked whether we were celebrating anything today?.....because at the end of the meal we were presented with a yummy chocolate fudge brownie dessert with a chocolate "Happy Anniversary" plaque on top. We have reservations at 6:15, probably not seated until 6:40. The dining area was so hot, but we accidentally stepped in a private party room which was nice and cool. Food taste terrible I wasn't interested in taking pictures of the plates. I ordered Miso Chilean sea bass. Didn't taste the miso. We also had New York strips, overcooked. It was a mix of bell peppers and onions with calamari. As I recall, we paid for calamari, not a mix of veggies with a sprinkle of calamari. Lol, then the cornbread came out with butter and salt. It was... okay... It's not my favorite. I ordered the specialty short ribs and shared that with the mushroom shrimp pasta with my girl. My sister also ordered the same short rib, and the plating was not the same. Lol, it was just too much expectation on the food. For the price and the ambiance, it's a shame that the taste and look of the food did not match it. It's reminiscent of overpriced food at weddings that you sit and bear with but not satisfied. The mushroom pasta did not come with protein, so we added shrimp. But the taste was lacking. It needed salt or something!! The shrimp seemed to have been cooked in a different pan and added last minute as a garnish. My other sister also ordered a side of truffle butter and did not taste any truffle. Apparently all of the food that we ordered had some sort of truffle infused into mashed potatoes or butter or pasta but none of us tasted any of it. Oh, and they were out of fries for the night :/ Overall it was nice because of the company, the conversation, and the view. Really long overdue review. Coming here last Thursday made mee refresh my memory of my 1st time coming here to dine with my husband. We came here on a Valentines date, day off Valentines for a pre set menu. It was surf and turf. It was going about from what i recall $ 75 per person/$ 150 a couple. I recall the the Lobster & steak didn't stand out much. The food was ok. It's more for the ambiance and view here. There's only valet parking available $ 7. The road also, one way up & one way down w a windy road up the hill. Down the hill. Some may be a bit intimidated/scared to drive it but it isn't so bad. I was fine my last visit on 1.26.23. The Pretty koi fish pond during walkway towards front of the restaurant along w the pretty Christmas lights definitely set a mood/tone to this romantic restaurant. The Outdoor area w fire pit & bistro hanging lights is magical w breathtaking view City of Orange cities skyline. It's a great restaurant for celebrations, bridal showers, Sunday's brunch and even a wedding. They offer banquet room. Coincidentally how Cindy Lee the Director of Catering at OH use to be my wedding coordinator at UCI university Club back in 2011. She has a lot of experience before my wedding and took care of my wedding without no complaints at all. I bet she's still as great as before especially here at Orange Hill. This place has a beautiful scenery! Perfect for dates, anniversaries, and weddings. The atmosphere is lively for night life events. They don't play any sort of music with lyrics for the scenery itself plays a beautiful Harmony. As you enjoy your meal you have a beautiful view of OC. Best time to go is definitely at night, plus you can see the Disney fireworks. You have the option of outdoor dining or indoor. The servers and hosts are super friendly and welcoming. Parking is valet only.( not so sure) Very clean and large area. Beautiful entrance to the restaurant. They have ponds that have koi fish with two small bridges to walk over, there is also a small fire place. I came to this place to celebrate a birthday. As soon as we sat down they brought out complimentary corn bread. I got the 24-Hour Herb Roasted Prime Rib 12oz. This plate was amazing good! I asked for it well done but to be honest the medium might have been a better choice. The meat was juicy and tender, and those mashed potatoes! Man oh man! My favorite! Loved every second of them! The broccolini was a bit too hard to bite into but If they can get those a bit softer this plate would be a perfect 10/10. My brother in law got the orange hill burger and my gosh it was huge! In the picture it looked small but as soon as he got it, it was a double patty! A thick boy! It came with some fries as well. It looked very delicious! My boyfriend and my father in law got the salmon plate. It came with mashed potatoes and broccolini as well. They both said it was delicious. The only inconvenience I can say was that we had a reservation however we still had to wait 25 minutes to get seated. Not sure if it had to do with where we choose to sit, inside or out. (We sat outside) but for a Friday night that wasn't bad. This place maybe a bit pricey but definitely worth it. My anniversary is coming up so I will definitely will be going back to enjoy the food and view.
