Stopped for a bite to eat and order 2 sandwiches .. while waiting we order some meat from the butcher Side and the butcher was extremely helpful, nice and knowledgeable. He charged us and after a half and hour of waiting for our food and the guy that order behind us was served before us. Finally went to the counter to ask how much longer and the guy said the sandwich was made wrong so they redid it. No apologize or informed that they were working on it. My daughter wanted a steak so I looked up this place and we went there. My daughter's steak came out perfect they know what they're doing. We ordered a medium steak and it came out so juicy. This was the first time at Orchard. I came with my brother and the two of use were extremely surprised that they had a butcher shop. Our attention was immediately drawn to all the meat. Steaks, tri tip, marinaded kabobs, carne asada and they had some of the largest meatballs I've seen plus they had a large amount of in house made sausages. After taking a look at all the meat we looked over the menu and ordered our dinner. I ordered a prime rib sandwich with a small tri tip chili cheese fries with shoestring fries. My brother ordered a pulled pork sandwich and steak fries. The two of us also ordered some draft beers. As my brother and I enjoyed our beers we we're looking around the restaurant. It's clean and spacious. My order came out first. The first thing I tryed was the small chili cheese fries. The chili & cheese on top of the fries were great. The order was small but the flavors were larger and in charge. Next I bit into my prime rib sandwich. The meat was tender and the bread roll was high quality and had a nice crunch with every bit. Their au jus and homemade horseradish sauce really brought this awsome sandwich to the next level. The au jus had a great smoky flavor and was not overly salty. The horseradish was like no other I ever had before. Most horseradish is just nasal awakening but this horseradish had some sweetness that just made this sandwich one of my absolute favorite prime rib sandwichs I have ever enjoyed. My brother enjoyed his pulled pork sandwich and we both agreed that we would buy meat from the butcher for grilling this summer. read more

We came to Whittier several times a month to service local oil wells. One of my coworkers told me about this place and I have been here a few times. The pulled pork sandwich is what I usually have. We have also had the tri tip sandwiches, but IMHO they are stingy with the beef on tri tip sandwiches. But they taste ok though. If I lived in the area I would come to this BBQ place/butcher shop more often and try other items for sure. The staff is friendly and helpful, service is decent. Ambiance? It seems more often than not when we stop for lunch there are uniformed members of law enforcement eating here. I do like that. read more

This is my first time here at Orchards BBQ and Grill, this place has a great selection of meats, chicken and fish depends on what you're looking for, it's also a place where there's a very high quality of steaks especially if you heard of Harris Ranch. Service is great everyone behind the counter are very helpful in your selection, deli selection is great hot and cold sandwiches while looking at everyone eating their food you can see the enjoy in them of what they ordered. The ambiance is great you can either stay and order your food or take it to go, it's all what you feel. Today 1/20/24 I met a few people from my alma mater WHS from class of '78-'84. Apparently these beautiful people get together once a month. It's a great way to catch up not only with our class but with everyone else who went to WHS. Next weekend 1/27/24 the WHS varsity tennis team will be given their CIF rings (picture). Thanks to Richard Luna and Eddie Sanchez who decided to do this (past 3yrs) it also helps that the owners are also WHS Alumni. Getting back to the food I had their pastrami sandwich with steak fries, both are very good, my friend Janna had their Ham and Swiss sandwich, at first she thought she would eat half but then I looked how she was doing and she finished her meal. Another chance I went in last night ordered the sampler and barbecue plate and the ribs came out undercooked and now I feel like I'm sick to my stomach the next day I can't even eat breakfast. I'm very angry about it because I've brought this to their attention before about their foods not being cooked well or it's overcooked and the one particular guy working in the back who claimed to be the manager always has a bad attitude and I'm upset about it because of the outcome of that interaction. I had these complaints years back if he they would've even just listened I don't think my food would've came undercooked last night and he tried to replace it with an overcooked rib, which tasted rubbery dry, like most other people have said on the reviews And failed acknowledge my concerns so I switched it out for the tri-tip even though I particularly wanted ribs and after the third try, the tri-tip he brings out was also undercooked compared to the tri-tip that was originally served with the barbecue plate read more

This is a review just for their bbq platter! Friendly service but I'm here for the food. I ordered the bbq platter with the tri-tip and pork ribs. Both were lukewarm upon arrival. There was no char on the proteins and the tri-tip lacked seasoning. Both items tasted like it was sitting in a steam warmer. Bbq shouldn't need sauce to dip in, but without the side of sauce, the proteins would have really lacked in flavor. It's been mentioned before in the other reviews that the potato salad is bland and I think it should just be called "potato" because it had no flavor despite being recommended by the cashier. There's a generic, dry dinner roll served with no butter on the side. For about $12 it's a good deal for volume and will get you full but ask yourself this question if you are looking to come here for bbq-are you here to fill up or are you trying to come here for tasty bbq? The pendulum swings at least for me mostly towards just trying to get full on reasonable pricing for food that happens to be bbq based on my experience. We recently saw a post on Instagram about the prime rib dinner (prime rib, asparagus, mashed potatoes, garlic bread, horse-raddish and au jus) for $29, so of course we had to partake & we were NOT disappointed! The prime rib was a perfect cut; jucy and sliced like butter, the sides were perfect and the horse-raddish & au jus were perfect pairings. I was satisfied & not miserably full as this was not a heavy meal but just PERFECT! My go-to for prime rib is usually one of those higher-end steak houses (Northwoods, Del Rae, etc) but I MUST tell you, THIS WAS FANTASTIC!!! I truly believe that I have found my new Prime rib spot!!! I got to say for browsing the area this place was a gem to find. You walk in and order then sit down but they also have a butcher shop inside which was pretty awesome. I picked a NY steak with side of onion rings which both came out tasting great. They NY steak was cooked just right and the flavor from the grill and the right char was perfect. Onion rings were nice and crispy as the side with home made bbq. The Ribs were next to try and done very well with the flavor as it needed no bbq sauce. I love when bbq doesn't need an over amount of sauce to flavor up the meat, so job well done here. The brisket was surprisingly tasty and juicy. Flavor again right on point with the brisket. The chili fries were actually amazing made with chili beans and brisket, very yum! The biggest disappointment though was the Mac n cheese as it did come out cold but I'll definitely try again when we don't go in so close to closing time. All in all everything was delicious and definitely going back for more meats. read more

I ordered a couple of pounds of what was supposed to be thinly sliced ribeye for Philly cheesesteaks instead I received what looks like ground up ribeye. In the past they've cut it up ok but they often give me a hard time about it even though they did it with no issue the first time. This isn't worth the hassle or the $100+ for a few pounds. And even though rib-eye is fatty this one was over the top heavily, heavily saturated in fat. Couldn't enjoy it. Won't be purchasing again. read more

I rarely write reviews but had to do it today. It is my first negative review . Been going to Orchards for the last 15 years and for the FIRST time the service was terrible !! I almost walked out but my son love the pork ribs. Usually the same courteous man serves me, he was not there today. The sweetest man who makes you feel spending $100 on ribs is not a mistake. The questions I asked annoyed who was serving me. Then this guy got more annoyed when I did not know the rub I wanted in my ribs!!! I did not know since the previous butcher always recommended the best. A customer said the one I chose was the best. I spend $90 and if I go home and see membrane in the ribs I will be not happy. New place new staff ~ appreciate your customers and they may be back!!! I added 2 stars to my original single star. The assistant manager and manager called me after I left a message. Found out the ribs they buy do not have membrane. That guy just had to show me the label since I was I inquiring about it. That would have solve the issue instead I got an attitude. On two different occasions, Orchard's has saved my day. I'm not sure if I have early onset amnesia but I tend to forget that they are there right up the street. On Christmas Eve I was out and about wanting to pick up a variety of red meat selections for 4 upcoming meals. Sadly, the grocery store meat market didn't receive a red meat shipment and the shelves were sparse. I was in a panic until my hubby reminded me of Orchard's. Thankfully his mind was in the right place and I went over and they offered quick and friendly service and had a great selection of red meats. Everyone loved the marinaded tri tip. The service counter employee was very helpful in suggesting how many pounds per person and even offered to marinate more if I needed it. What more can I say besides they offered friendly service and high quality meats. I won't forget them on my next bbq. read more

Had another great experience on Mother's Day as we brought a friend, who is a mom, to join us. Between us we had the Grilled Chicken Sandwich (great with BBQ sauce), the Brioche Burger, a Lettuce-Wrapped Veggie Burger, shoestring fries and veggie salad. Everything was very tasty. Bbq pulled pork sandwich can't be beat. Be sure to ask for cole slaw on it. Add the red potato salad on the side. If you get it to go, it come deconstructed so nothing is soggy. You may have to pour the pork over a paper towel to get rid of the extra pork fat first. Deli sandwiches are always good and even better on the French rolls.
