On May 18th I went into Orchid Cleaners in Los Gatos and got a quote for shortening men's shirts. I was quoted 18 per shirt (126.00) and made a note on my phone, repeating the price back to her.My husband dropped them off two days later. When we picked them up they charged us 30/shirt (210.00)! My husband said it should be 126. She refused to honor the original quote saying $30 was a fair price! If you go to this business make sure you get everything in writing. They Read My Mind - For Free..... A quick update is necessary because of something which recently happened. I brought 4 dress shirts to be laundered and one of them had a loose button on the front. Without my asking for that to be fixed, Orchid Cleaners repaired the problem at no charge. I even forgot about it! It's only a minor issue, but how many places would do something like that? Last week I gave them a dress for a minor alteration, (just folding and hemming) they charged me $25 the first time and after much haggling another $10 foo ok r doing it right. I too wish it was far cheaper, but my corporate chef husband doesn't care as long as his stains come out and the clothes are like new. Janet is awesome and the service is excellent. She knew my name after one visit BEFORE I gave her my ticket. They take old hangers to recycle which is fine for me as they build up quickly in the closet. After all the places I've been to over the years for dry cleaning, Orchid is not just the most expensive, but also has the rudest staff/owners I've ever met. Sent pants in for a hem and dry cleaned a dress. I was charged $7 for a small piece of the dress that covered shoulders. I thought it was slightly high considering I already paid $16 for the dress. But, the price of the pants hem was reasonable and service was fast. read more

Worst customer service ever!!! I tried Orchid a month ago as my previous cleaner went under due to Covid 19. The first experience was so so...the lady was a little rude but said she could do 5 shirts for $3.50 each (Cotton or Cotton/Poly mix) but needed a week. OK- a little slow but no big deal. They were ready on time, clean and pressed. 2 weeks later I dropped off 4 shirts (2 of the previous they'd cleaned, 2 different- Cotton) and they again said 1 week for service. I picked them up today and the bill came to $35.00!!! I said it must be a mistake, Please check again, and again she said 4 shirts cost #35.00. I asked why when the previous ones - same blend, were $3.50 each- this was more than $8.00 each for the same basic launder and press. She said they were special shirts that cost more. I told her it was BS, they were the same material, but she refused to lower the price. After more arguing I finally paid it and told her I would and never use their service again- as well as a few choice words. Not sure if this is discrimination or just rude like like Seinfeld's soup Nazi but I would highly recommend STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF. read more

In town for an extended corporate stay, I dropped off some slacks and blouses. Came back the next day and was shocked that it averaged close to $10/piece after tax. I had more clothes with me but decided against leaving them due to the cost. The woman behind the desk told me she would give me 20% off my next order. I decided to go back. They definitely do a nice job. Next visit I mentioned the 20% off and she charged me extra for a blouse she claimed was a dress and added a service charge for needing it the next day. I dropped off my clothes at 8 am. I had done the same thing before. Maybe that's why it was so expensive. I don't know. The bill certainly wasn't itemized. I got the distinct impression she was padding the bill. I wish I'd followed my initial instinct and not given that place any more business. I can't recommend it because I don't trust their business ethics. read more

This is a review based primarily on my husband's business shirts. Have been using Orchid Cleaners for about 4 years for hubby and my occasional needs and have been very happy after years and years of bouncing around looking for THE ONE, here or wherever we lived in the world. I would have to say they are pretty darn close. That's a big statement I know! I realize I'm reviewing this to potential customers that expect a shirt to be perfect 99.9% of the time or higher. In the roughly 4 years the following are the incidences my eagle eyed husband has asked me to question, complain etc. A) 3 times he found wrinkles had been pressed into areas of collar or front panel. Some of you reading this may not have even complained. They were apologetic and repressed. B) Hubby pointed out "wearing" on the edge of his collar and felt that it was them, but he was not sure as maybe he just noticed but he asked me to talk to them. I did and they said it's just old. I google almost everything and this is what I found..." typical dress shirt is made to withstand 52 wearings (and subsequent cleanings). If you notice any of these things before that time, talk to the manufacturer or cleaner of your shirts. Minus 1 star because sometimes when I asked to have stuff done same day within the time allowed, the manager/owner suggest next day or later and makes me feel like award to have to push and say No I need today. But, after a few times I am used to it. read more

I wish it were cheaper, but you get what you pay for. We tried other cleaners in the past and switched back. They do a great job and have very friendly service. They always know my name. They even found a sweater I dropped outside once and had it cleaned and saved for me. They've hemmed things for me too and have done a great job. read more

I didn't have time to go to my usual place (Bensons Cleaners) and since Orchid is conveniently located I dropped my husbands dry cleaning off there... 5 shirts/6 pants $61 later... :-o $2.75/shirt washed and ironed and $7.95/pants dry cleaned as opposed to $1.95/shirt and $6.00/pants for the same service at Bensons. $15 difference in pricing... approximately 1/3 less the cost of Orchid. I thought Bensons might be out of the way, but I still would have been ahead with the cost of gas to get there. I'm sticking with Bensons from here on out. They have always done a great job and are very reasonably priced. Worth the trip too. Did I mention I really like Bensons? read more

I like this place a lot. Now I live right near it but when I didn't I drove here even though it was farther. I've been using them for a year now. Once there was a stain that didn't come out on my husband's shirt. He didn't let me know for a while. When I took it in she took it back, no problem. She always gives my son a treat if he comes in with me. The lady that runs this place is probably the most pleasant person I can remember meeting in a business in a very long time. read more

After being very happy with Orchid for many years, I hate to say I recently had 2 bad experiences with them and won't be back. I took in a sweater with sew-on rhinestones and after picking it up, I noticed at home that 2 of the rhinestones were missing. I took it back and showed the woman at the counter and asked if they had seen them. I wasn't accusing them, I was very nice about it, but I knew it happened there. All she said was "no." Not, I'm sorry that happened, or I'll look for them and let you know, or anything even nice, just "no." At the same visit I picked up another sweater and when I got it home, it was pilled all over the outside AND inside and that can only happen by mishandling a garment, so now it's ruined. They charged me $89 to have my daughter's prom dress cleaned. It was a basic dress with no beading or intricate details. I shopped around afterwards and found that not one dry cleaner in this area charges anything more than $18 for a dress. The price was ridiculous and they would not budge on it after I complained. Rip off. Seems to me they are taking advantage of the high school parents in this area. read more

I have been going to Orchid Cleaners since the day they opened.......many years ago. After reading so many negative reviews, I thought I would give you my review as a long time patron. Yes, Orchid Cleaners is not perfect. They never advertise that they are. What they don't advertise is the commitment and length they go to do the very best for their patrons. I've had many garments altered as well as dry cleaned. Alterations are always risky no matter where you go. I have found Orchid Cleaners to be very diligent and willing to solve the problem. One time they could not help me as the cuff on a pair of slax was just too frayed. For no extra charge they cut the legs off and I had a new pair of shorts! Other times I have had new cotton shirts laundered and I have asked them not to put them in hot water. I was politely told that all the laundry goes through the same cycle and they do use warm water. I then had the choice of laundering at home and I brought the shirt back and they starched and pressed it to my liking. I travel at length all over the world and I would not trust any of my designer collection of clothes to anyone else. YES, they are not perfect. But, I don't expect perfection. As a patron please learn to ask questions and they are very forthcoming in answering. I love going there as I am greeted like a family member. Very cordial. If you don't expect perfection and ask more questions, you can then make intelligent choices. This is a wonderful cleaning establishment. I have no complaints. read more

The quality is okay here but man oh man are they the most expensive cleaners I've ever been too. Like sending all your stuff to the hotel laundry. Shirts are like $3 apiece, blouses $8, pants $8, dresses $18, skirts $10 and sweaters $11.
