It's a small restaurant located in a plaza with plenty of parking space. The staff was friendly and courteous. Pricing wasn't bad either. We went on a Saturday morning when they just opened and there weren't anyone else. We ordered the fried fish cakes, green curry that's medium spicy, and beef pad thai. The fish cakes came with 6 pieces in an order. They were freshly fried and were pretty hot. Loved the sweet and sour dip that came with the cakes. The cakes were bouncy and a great appetizer! The green curry was pretty coconut-y as with all Thai curry. It came with a white rice and even with medium spicy, it was still pretty spicy. The pad thai tasted good but it's kind of wet with the sauce. We've never had pad thai that wet but it tasted fine with plenty of beef so it was ok. Overall, I'd recommend this spot considering the flavors of entrees, pricing, service, and parking availability. read more

The best Thai restaurant in the 626! Orchid Thai had unlocked a newfound love for Thai cuisine back when its original location was in Arcadia many years ago. I was incredibly sad when they closed and thought my favorite Thai spot was gone forever when in fact they had just moved to Baldwin Park. The restaurant is every bit as I remember including the same friendly, casual ambiance! You can't go wrong with anything you order here--seriously! Both the Pad Thai and Pad See Ew are amazing as well as the curries, namely the yellow curry which comes fresh with your choice of protein, carrots and potatoes. The meat/protein served with your dish is freshly cooked and tender, never tough and dry. I also enjoyed the Seafood Tom Yum Soup which comes chock full of seafood and veggies, although my husband felt it was a bit too much on the sour side. Appetizers are great here as well! The Shrimp Egg Rolls are wonderful and come with a sweet chili dipping sauce, and the Thai Pork Jerky is also a great order. Of course, you can't forget ordering the Thai Tea to help wash all those delicious flavors down! The workers are friendly and service is prompt. I'm only giving a review on their crispy chicken salad. Always great food but I ordered the crispy chicken salad and the chicken was very hard some pieces were rock hard. Not sure why. I couldn't finish it since it was hard to breakdown. Had to throw away the chicken except for 2 pieces that I managed to eat. Also, I wish they would put more actual salad pieces. It only had about 7 pieces of lettuce. But the lemon tang flavor was so good. I love their food but this salad definitely disappointed. I went here because the ratings were good. The pad see ew was one of the worst pad see ew I've ever had. The shrimp was also bad. I took 2 bites and didn't want anymore. I brought it home for leftovers because I didn't want to waste food and it was just so bad that cheap microwable meals tasted better to me. They also mess up another order we had. We asked for beef instead of chicken but they gave us chicken and was hesistant to change it so we just kept it. The thai tea was also very bad. Overall I do not recommend! read more

Came back a second time to try their curry. I ordered the red curry, which comes with bell peppers, green beans, bamboo shoots, and my protein of choice was chicken. I asked for it spicy. Decided to try this spot that is very close to my house and I absolutely was not disappointed. Orchid Thai is true authentic cuisine. This restaurant is located in a Gateway Plaza so parking is shared but not too busy where you won't find parking. The restaurant was super clean and fairly quiet. We seated ourselves and quickly after a server came to help us out, he was super friendly! I ordered a a traditional Pad Thai (ofcourse!), Spring Rolls, Pineapple Curry, and shrimp Fried Rice. The food came in about 15 minutes so that was awesome. Being someone whose visited Thailand 3 times on vacation, I definitely feel like I have the pallet for authentic Thai food - and this absolutely hit the spot. You can really taste the spices and flavors in the different foods and feel the authenticity with every bite. The portions were also very generous so I got to take some home with me and finish it up at a later time. I've been looking for good Thai food in the area, and after seeing a couple of good reviews on this place I thought why not give it a shot. I dragged my grandma to come with me, and we were both pleasantly surprised. We ordered the Thai BBQ chicken and pad thai with seafood, and for drinks she got the taro milk tea with boba while I got the thai milk tea. The staff were accomodating and helpful, and it took around 5 mins for our food to come out (granted we were one of the only ones inside waiting for our food.) The Thai BBQ chicken was delicious, and 8 pieces for 13.45 is a steal for the amount that was given. They gave us this sweet chili dipping sauce to go with it, which brightened up the flavor. The pad thai was great too, not ridiculously oily but they didn't give us lime on the side. Not a complaint though, the dish didn't feel like it was missing it anyways. The mussels were pretty big and chewy, and their shrimp wasn't rubbery so nothing to complain about there. However their squid was pretty tough and it was kinda hard to chew through. The noodles were coated thoroughly in the sauce, which was the perfect amount of tang and sweet. Their taro and Thai tea were just your usual milk teas, nothing too stand out about the taro but I personally felt like their Thai tea almost mimicked the Thai tea from Original Thai BBQ (which is a good thing!) The restaurant as a whole was really clean and well kept, my grandma was especially surprised with how clean their bathrooms were (lol) We'll definitely be coming back again soon, and this might be our new go-to spot for Thai food! read more

Located in the middle of the Gateway Plaza, Orchid Thai offers a solid Thai menu. We phoned in our order for takeout on a Saturday night and our food was ready 15 minutes later as quoted. As an added plus, there was ample parking in the Gateway Plaza. We ordered: Thai Tea (4/5) - Thai tea that was a bit too sweet for our liking, but was delicious after some of the ice melted. Fried Fish Cakes (3/5) - The appetizer came with 6 fish cakes fried to perfection. The fish cakes were mild in flavor and went well with the pickled cucumber provided. Pad Thai w/ Chicken (2/5) - The dish lacked flavor and really could have used a squeeze of lime juice. Unfortunately, a lime wedge wasn't provided. We have another winner from another one of my local finds here on my 'Week of Thai Food' cravings. I Yelped my way here as usual, daily; this time, to 'Orchid Thai,' of Baldwin Park. I had to drive here even though haven't before due to its existing 4.5 star ratings. I got to the restaurant on time, thanks to GPS without getting me lost for a change. I ordered 'Pad Thai,' instead of 'Pad See Ew,' because they didn't end up having 'Pad See Ew,' but they actually provided 2 pieces of veggie eggrolls with this Thai style noodle dish. They were delish!!!! I was able to split this dish in two meals again, so it was totally worth the drive from Arcadia to Baldwin Park for my lunch take out. Nice clean restaurant with good service. We were seated promptly when we arrived and appreciated that the workers were still wearing masks even though the mask mandate has been lifted for now. We ordered the cream cheese ragoons, yellow curry with chicken, and seafood pad see ew. The seafood option is an extra $5 - I thought this was kind of expensive compared to other restaurants but we decided to try it anyway. Overall we thought the food was good. This quaint family owned restaurant has been one of our go-to spots for Thai food in the area. Most of the time we placed a phone order for pickup. We have eaten there once and usually I prefer it over getting it to go but the one time we ate there the A/C was on so high that the food got cold quick. When we take it home it's still piping hot. We've tried several menu items over the course of 10+ visits and everything is consistently good. My wife's family loves the fried spicy catfish , the spice level is insanely hot. We ordered the yellow curry, egg rolls, and the Thai popcorn chicken. It was all really amazing and so different! That popcorn chicken taste like a pork skin meets white chicken? Does that make any sense? Haha. It has so much flavor and so they give you enough to feed a small family! My only complaint would be the portions. I wish they had smaller portions to choose from. They do have a lunch menu that ends at 3:00 (just missed it!) I wanted to try beef & broc or even a chicken dish but the portions are meant for 2-3 people. I even asked for a kids menu and they didn't offer one (boooooo! Haha) The service was great, and the food was awesome. You really can't ask for a better dinning out experience. I do wish we were able to eat there buuuuut you gotta respect these pandemic times and rules. The prices are pretty fair considering the amount egg rolls (9.50 kind of not worth that price) popcorn chicken (8.50) curry with white rice (10.00) for 2 people it was about 30.00. I was dubious about all these high reviews in here, because I often find they are off. Man was I wrong! Non descriptive place in a strip mall. The inside is non descript also.
