Pizzas are great, but so are the pasta dishes and desserts are especially good--chocolate chip cookie in a skillet with vanilla ice cream. I took my family from out of town here for dinner because my husband and I have been here many times and the food and service were great but last night I was embarrassed in front of my family! We started off great got sat and ordered drinks and appetizers all came out pretty quickly then we ordered our entrées. There were 9 of us we all ordered a pasta dish and we waited our waitress kept refilling our drinks but the food never came! After an hour and fifteen minutes we asked for a manager at this point the waitress had told us many times our food would be right out but still no food! As we talked to the manager and voiced our displeasure he said they were starting on our order now!! By this time 1 and 1/2 hours have gone by other tables had been seated after us and were boxing up leftovers and going home! We never got to eat by then to disgustedly we left and still had to eat! I am so disappointed in the service we received I love the food here but after the way we were treated I will be not be going back there! I realize we were a party of nine but if they could not handle it they should've said so upfront I have been in food service for 35 years and can't recall ever taking 1 and 1/2 hours to make a few pasta dishes I mean come on all the ingredients are prepped all you need to do is put it together and warm it up!! Great service. Charles was charming. The pizza, not so much. I got the thin crust mushroom with truffle sauce. The crust was burnt and it was pretty bland. So we have eaten here before and enjoyed the food but this last visit was exactly that, our last visit. I spent many years in food and beverage so I understand it can get hectic when busy. After an hour wait to be seated it took 20 minutes to get a food order in. The table next to us which came in 10 minutes after us starts getting food delivered..it's now almost an hour after we were seated and we have no food in front of us. The table next to us has their entire meal. After flagging some staff down they disappear and come back with one dish...it's barely above room temperature..the other dishes get dropped off also cooled down which means the food was ready just sitting somewhere for who knows how long. We are famished by now so we just ate the food. I was going to have the server feel how cool the food was but we don't see the server again until everyone is ready to go. Very disappointed. We arrived at 9:30pm and asked if it was too late to eat - they close at 10pm. We were told no - come in in! I ordered the Alfredo the Dark pasta and it was horrible. Took friends for lunch at the Oregano's in Surprise. We were anticipating a nice lunch but unfortunately, from the hostess to the server, we were disappointed. When we walked in, it took several minutes for a hostess to appear. Once she did, we were told it would be a 20 minute wait even though we had called the restaurant a few minutes prior and they said there was 'no wait'. Then, we we finally got seated on the patio, we sat for several minutes before a server approached the table. She apologized saying she was not told this was 'her table'. As a result, she got our order wrong, our meal was cold, she forgot to bring refills after being asked, and she did not clear the table. Ok, I realize it is not all her fault - but I do want management to know they need to take steps to ensure the server is supported/equipped to give us her full attention. Hadn't been to Oregano's in a while due to previous disappointments . Went last night and ordered lasagna . It was cold and they weren't the same size . There wasn't any noticeable cheese ,the noodles were a shade of brown like it was old . The tomatoe was fresh sliced which I've never seen in lasagna. This was my very first time at Oregano's and we were very pleased! Our wait time was fast, but that could change depending on the time you go. We had a wonderful server and notice great service all around us! This is the mark of a good restaurant to me and will always draw us back. The decor and atmosphere is adorable and feels like you're in the old neighnborhood at a mom & pop type of place. So darn cute! We split the Kaboom Dip ( enough for 4 people) and my husband had some local brew. I am pregnant, so I am currently not drinking :( But I want to come back and try some of their cocktails, the drinks menu looked fun! I ordered the Alfredo of the Dark with chicken and my husband ordered the Big Meatball sandwich. The portions are HUGE and you will take home leftovers, in fact I encourage you to do so. I recently went to the local surprise Oregano's, and I have a few words to say. First off, the waitress said the meals are known for being larger, like Chicago style. I went a few times before and they lived up their word, but the recent time I went this expectation was not delivered. We ordered the Riga Toni, and received only 12 noodles, in a large bowl too big for that small amount. It lasted us seconds, and my friend said it was bigger the first time she had it. We followed with the famous pazookie , or pizza cookie dessert. Which is always good, but this time it was a bit burnt. And I'd like to add they were not busy at all, we were just about the only ones in there, and it seems they didn't take time preparing our meal. Our waitresses name was Kristi, she in the end wasn't very welcoming, and wasn't that friendly. Overall I've had better experiences there, as it is usually one of my favorite restaurants to go to, but maybe they were just having a bad day. I'd give this time going a 2/5, but the guys cooking behind the counter were highly attractive. It bumped it up to a 3/5. Thank you for your time. I hope it's better next time. Hostess was great. Waitlist process was great. Service was the worst experience ever. We couldn't add any more dirty dishes to our table if we tried so I kept stacking them up and if/when someone came to the table they looked right at the stack without taking them away. Had to ask for numerous things, numerous times. Servers all over the place; yet just wandering around looking lost. Kitchen staff from where we were sitting must have touched their face a dozen times while prepping food, etc. Awful! This place was great the first week or so that it opened but service now??? My fiancée and I have been to this oreganos location twice. Both times the pasta was just awful! I got the big rig the first time and it was so undercooked it was crunchy. I sent it back and when it came out the second time it was the exact same way. I informed management and they did nothing to make our experience better. Then we had the cookie for dessert and it was soupy! Like liquid cookie dough! So gross! Last night we decided to give it one more try and ordered delivery. I ordered the bowl of pasta and he ordered the Alfredo dark. Mine was so over cooked that it was mushy and his had no flavor whatsoever. The only reason I gave this place 2 stars instead of 1 is because they managed to make their salads correctly. Kudos! read more

The wait list is pointless. We joined the wait list for a party of 6 and were told to arrive in 35 minutes. However, we we get there we we're informed it would be a hour since other large parties walked it. I explained how we joined the wait list to accommodate our party size and the fact we had young children with us and wanted to avoid a long wait in the restaurant. I was told "yeah we're sorry but the wait list doesn't account for the people who walk in." I'm not quite sure the point of the join the wait list feature when everyone who physically walks in before you gets put in front of you anyway. The quality and portion size of pasta dishes has gone down. Oreganos has been one of our favorite restaurants in the valley but has quickly gone down hill since their expansion. One of our favorite dishes is the Big Rig pasta dish. Recently, the sauce seems watered down and the chicken is now sliced and lacks flavor. We used to be able to feed 4 people with a dinner size portion of the Big Rig, now you can barely split one portion between 2 people. read more

Although the food is amazing, my time is far more valuable. Every time I have been there I have had to wait an hour for a table yet there are always several open tables. When I ask why we can't be seated at those the excuse is there is not a server for that area. I can find good food anywhere. They need to staff fully seeing they are always busy. Called for a single thin pizza for carry-out at 4:45 and was told it would take 2 hours. Seriously, if you can't handle carry-out orders in a reasonable time, don't offer carry-out. But I decided to order anyway. Went to pick up the pizza at 6:35 thinking I would wait a few minutes to get it just out of the oven. Not so, it was already sitting there. Took it out to the car and my wife opened it to find the pizza almost cold. I wasn't going to wait another 2 hours for a hot one. Some of you may enjoy cold pizza but I will never order from there again. This seems to be a Surpirse location issue. I live only a mile from it but before it opened I ordered a carry-out from the Goodyear location and drove 10 miles there to pick it up. No long preparation time and it was very hot when I picked it up. Even after driving it home it was hotter than the one from the Surprise location. read more
