He suggested Carmen Reserva Frida Kahlo Cabernet Sauvignon Chile 2023 & Organic Arbol De Vida Malbec Argentina 2024. The cabernet had a 91 rating from the Tasting Panel, but the malbec didn't have a rating, as it was a new item. Seeing how it's made with organic grapes, and malbecs are usually good bottles of wine, I chose the Organic Arbol De Vida Malbec Argentina 2024. Organic Arbol De Vida Malbec Argentina 2024- Lovely bottle of wine. Each sip had berries & plum, plus the pucker from expressive tannins. I'm not a wine connoisseur, but I found this particular malbec approachable and non-offensive. However, I'd choose a bottle of bourbon or sake, any day of the week. 1 cent for a bottle of wine? That's cheaper than Boone's Farm! Total Wine wanted to get me nice & toasty on the cheap for my birthday, treating me like a cheap date. Well guess what? California Heights Market is like a mini version of Whole Foods. They serve a lot of quality and organic products + other amazing things you can find.. like aged meat, sushi, infused olive oils, a spice shop, bread, sandwiches, nursery and *drum rolls* beer on tap! Such a small market packed with so many great things AND they have upstairs and outside seating!! I can see parking getting a little tough here on busier days as it does seem to be in the busier part of Castro Valley with all the other eateries you can find outside of the California Heights Market. I can't wait to come back here because they do have a ton of cool organic beauty products that are great for those who have really sensitive skin but can get a little pricey!
