Came here after the gym (there goes that workout). I was very impressed with the service. I had: pea greens: what a tasty vegetable. I don't usually get vegetables from Chinese food restaurants but I'm glad I did. I'm def coming back and ordering it again. Boiled Szechuan boiled beef: at first I was reluctant to order a boiled beef but I was trying to be health conscious. It was tender full of flavor and very filling. I went on yelp and placed an order to be delivered. Apparently this is through GrubHub. Two hours later my food didn't arrive so I called the restaurant. They told me that they never received the order and that I should call GrubHub. I called GrubHub and they told me that the restaurant wasn't taking my order. Maybe it's not fair for me to give the restaurant a bad rating but the restaurant was of no help when I called. Why are they working with Grubhub if they don't have any answers when you call and are charged for their food. My credit card was charged for the order. I never got my food. read more

I came to Oriental Taste with my children over the weekend and we ordered several Chinese and Sushi selections off the menu. Sesame chicken - Very much like General Tso's with no heat. Came with rice, broccoli, and sesame seeds Mei fun - I did not try this but the kids made very short order of it which translated to 2 thumbs up! California roll - as you'd expect Spider roll and Tokyo roll - They were good, but sauced to heavily for my taste. Next time I will ask for no sauce. I thought it was very good and I don't think that you can go wrong here. I'm looking forward to going back and trying some of the traditional menu items. read more

This place was excellent! They've only been open about a month, so they're still testing out their menu, but everything we had was very high quality, and reasonably priced. They bought out the old Zen location which was one of my favorite sushi restaurants, so they had big shoes to fill... But they are definitely living up to my expectations! We got the Tuna Salmon Tartare as an appetizer which I HIGHLY recommend, the Oriental Taste Roll (I'd give it 4 stars), the Magic Roll (4.5 stars), and the Angel Roll (I think this was good - maybe 3.5 stars, but could use some lemon on the scallop instead of the white sauce). The plum sake was very good, although my husband thought it was too sweet for him. We got it hot (which was too hot) so cold the second time. Both were delish! The only thing I didn't like was that the rolls came out one at s time... I would prefer to have them altogether so I think I'll request that next time. Very excited about this place! read more

This is probably one of my favorite Asian places in the Hampshire County. It has Chinese food and sushi, I love sushi!! The lunch special for sushi is probably one of the best deals. It's small, which is expected for lunch specials, but it's still so worth! The spicy fried squid is must have along with its sushi, especially the sashimi and shrimp tempura roll. I ordered the Sichuan "ma-la" (numbingly spicy) boneless pigs feet as my appetizer, the green jade vegetable delight as my entree as I was craving for vegetables, and the dan dan noodles to eat with the other 2 items. I didn't realize that white rice automatically comes with every entree, so I should not have ordered the noodles since it was too much carbohydrates for one person to consume. The dan dan noodle was the worst of the 3 items that I had ordered as it was too sour rather than having the "ma-la" (numbingly spicy) flavor that it should have, so I would rate that one star. The boneless pigs feet was not very well prepared either, and I would also give it a 1-1/2 star. The vegetable delight dish consisted of broccoli, snow peas, and string beans, and I would rate that 3 stars as it was exactly what I had expected but did not "wow" me. read more

I typically order one of their Special Spicy Chicken or Special Spicy Tofu which is just like some intensely fried chicken/tofu and a whole lotta spicy peppers. My wife is Sichuan Chinese so we are accustomed to some very good NYC Sichuan restaurants. We drive to VT once a month and always stop here. I can solidly stand behind these classic Sichuan dishes, superbly prepared: Vegetarian Mapo Tofu or Mixed Farm Vegetables with Tofu (they're nearly identical), Mapo Tofu with minced Pork, Eggplant with garlic sauce, Special Spicy Chicken, Twice-Cooked Pork, Twice-Cooked Fish fillet (to die for), Dry Braised Tofu, sauteed Chinese broccoli (not American broccoli!). Don't forget to ask for brown rice! These folks know how to cook. Hopefully they won't have too much chef turnover as it's always a Chinese restaurant's achilles heel. We order ahead by phone, about 25 minutes out from pick up. Make sure you speak clearly, slowly, have them repeat exactly what you ordered. They're a bit scattershot, like many Chinese operations, but your patience will be rewarded. read more

This by far, was the best stop of the day. My daughter and I stopped in after another spot we were looking at was closed. I have never been so happy that our first choice was unavailable. We stopped in and was sat right away. We ordered a variety of things thinking we would just each get our own choices. We ended up sharing everything because it was just so good. The sushi and seaweed salad was delicious we shared and now my daughter is ordering seaweed salad everywhere. We ordered a large soup. It was enormous and was perfectly seasoned with great flavor. We also ordered baby bok choy with mushrooms. It was fantastic. Something so simple was made to taste like it came from a high end restaurant. Love this place. I am a Chinese from Taiwan and it's hard to find the "real" Chinese or Taiwanese food here. My husband loves their BBQ pork bum and all kinds of dim sum items. I've lived in Noho for many years, and I've seen the quality of the food at Oriental Taste decline steadily over the past few years. I went the other day against my better judgment, and I was punished for it. I can tolerate dash of MSG, but the dish I ordered tasted like the cook had spilled the bottle. The miso soup was served room temperature. But the service was actually even worse than the food. The waiter literally tossed plates of food on the table and sped off without pausing even to make eye contact. The last straw was asking to take some leftovers home (the chicken with broccoli was edible), and instead of taking it back to the kitchen and packing to to go, another waiter tossed an empty to-go box at me. I will never eat at this restaurant again. There are many good alternatives in the area. read more

I am honestly very disappointed by our last visit to Oriental Taste. Pretty much everything was off about it. The flavors, the waitstaff, the textures... The most jarring thing was when they delivered my partner's sushi to the next table... The other table had to tell us (and they had eaten from it.) and the waitstaff said NOTHING. The dish was not re-prepared. The check came with the order still on it. When I complained that my partner hadn't gotten her entree, they hemmed, took the check, and left. Came back a little while later with the sushi removed from the check. No offer to make it again, nothing. The folks at the other table were very nice, and gave my partner some of their sushi to help make up for it. My sushi wasn't up to the standard I am used to there... It was very dry. The wasabi was some of the mildest I've ever had... Nearly flavorless. This whole thing is ironic... Because my partner and I were debating which establishment we should go to for sushi that night, and decided that Oriental taste was our safest bet, as we always enjoy it there... I can't find enough good things to say about this restaurant. It serves the best sushi I've eaten since I lived in Japan. The service is a bit slow, but everything is made to order so it's worth the wait. The staff are friendly and attentive and the prices are reasonable. What a hidden gem!! This place is awesome! We stopped in for sushi and found that the service was very fast and kind. The ambiance and decor was very pretty as well. I am so bummed I did not take any photos of the food or the restaurant as everything was fantastic. We ordered the Xiao Long Bao, the miso soup, Spicy Tuna Roll, Spicy Salmon Roll, and the Virgo Roll. Wow! We did the lunch special and it was quite the deal, definitely worth it. The miso soup was good, but the rest of the meal is worth the five stars. The soup dumplings were presented properly! I am a sucker for any place that serves the dumplings with the correct utensils. The presentation was beautiful in the bamboo steamer, very nice chopsticks, and soup spoons to complete the experience. The dumplings were actually pretty large and full of flavorful pork and soup. We couldn't get enough of them! The spicy tuna and salmon rolls were delicious. They had a bit of crunchy in them which added to the texture and experience. The Virgo Roll was awesome!! There is seared tuna on top which was very tasty. We finished our meals full and joyful! We will definitely be back next time we are in Western Mass! read more

I was born and raised in northern California, close to San Francisco, and I've been searching for a good Chinese food restaurant in Western Massachusetts for the past 10 years, but could not find anything that came close to the amazing Chinese food in San Francisco. I've tried so many places in this area and they are awful, especially The Teapot (horrible food and customer service). I tried this place for dinner tonight, and it is so good! I had the steamed pork buns, spicy chicken, steamed pot stickers, and mei fun and it was all amazing!!!!! I wish I found it sooner. I go to Northampton a lot and had no idea this gem of a restaurant was there. You will not be disappointed! The service was amazing too. I'm not entirely sure how some of these glowing reviews have manifested. The food here is straight up pedestrian Americanized rib of the mill "Chinese" food and nothing more. I'm guessing foreigners who say it's great must be paid actors. Most of the many dishes I ordered were rather bland with your typical brown sauce with sugar and corn starch to bind. This place has bad food compared to its other location in Amherst (which is already bad). The service was slow and the soup dumplings were probably the worse I've ever tried. I'm telling you, I've bought better frozen ones at the local Chinese store and even at Trader Joes. I've come to the conclusion that they must have made a mistake and maybe the lost soul who was supposed to make the soup dumplings that day was sick or maybe he forgot that there is supposed to be some SOUP in the dumplings. I'm going to give this place 1 more chance I'm probably 3-6 months, and if the soup dumplings still taste drier than the Sahara, I'm going to need to speak to the manager. That will be all. read more
