We recently tried Origami Handroll X Kushiyaki Bar for the first time, and overall it was a great experience with several standout dishes. The hand rolls were definitely the highlight. My favorite was the spicy yellowtail hand roll--it had great flavor and just the right amount of spice. I didn't get a chance to try every variety, but the ones I had were fresh and delicious. The unagi was also excellent. We ordered several yakitori skewers, and while the tongue and short rib were both tender and full of flavor, most of the others were unfortunately overcooked. The pork belly and gizzard, in particular, ended up a bit too tough. The miso soup was exactly what you'd expect--simple, warm, and comforting. The premium chirashi bowl was outstanding and easily one of the best dishes of the meal. Every piece of fish was incredibly fresh, but the tuna belly was especially memorable--it practically melted in your mouth. For drinks, I highly recommend the Lychee Sake-tini. It was well-balanced, not overly sweet, and packed with refreshing lychee flavor. We brought our young daughter with us, and she had a wonderful meal too. She really enjoyed the udon noodle soup along with both the California hand roll and the unagi hand roll. Despite a few disappointing yakitori skewers, the exceptional seafood, delicious cocktails, and friendly atmosphere made for a very enjoyable dining experience. We'd definitely come back to explore more of the menu, especially the hand rolls and sashimi.

I've been on the hunt for restaurants with a good Happy Hour, so I was excited to stumble upon Origami's $5 Mini Appetizers menu. It's a great way to sample a variety of dishes without spending a fortune. The Happy Hour menu includes items like fried squid legs, crispy rice with tuna or salmon, spicy edamame, chicken karaage, and chicken skewers. My favorite was definitely the crispy rice with salmon. Most places only offer it with tuna, so it was nice to see a salmon option for a change. Everything we tried was tasty, although the portions really do live up to the "mini" name. I wish they were just a little more generous. The restaurant itself is clean, modern, and has a nice atmosphere. I'm pretty sure this used to be a Coffee Bean. Most of the seating is at the bar, with just a handful of regular tables, making it feel like a good spot to grab drinks and a few bites with friends. Overall, I enjoyed the Happy Hour and would definitely come back to work my way through the rest of the menu.

Seating area, also has tables. This company will have many stores in the future!

Food quality is not as good as it use to be here. The points system also doesn't make sense to me. You can amass a ton of points but can only use them to discount 1 roll each time, and you can't use them at all on the lunch specials. So the points don't really have a purpose, and you can never actually use the points you have.

Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 4.5/5 If you wanna spend a cozy dinner locally in Brea you found it here. Origami is a handle is a Kiaya that you would enjoy to go to for an easy dinner. They have a few dining tables along the edge of the restaurant, but where you wanna sit is at the bar. This is limiting for large parties and can impair your conversation hence why I give it a 4.5 out of 5. You order electronically on their iPad which they have sitting along every other seat. Staff is more than happy to help you with any other inquiries. They have a three hand rolls for $19 special and five handles for $39. Initially, thinking that this might be a small, I walked out very full after. An easy choice for hand rolls is the Salmon. They give it a generous amount and I clearly enjoyed it so much that I did not give you a picture. I had the scallop hand roll, which was very yummy. The sauce that the scallops are tossed is light and not overpowering at all. My favorite was the Unagi hand roll because they see it right in front of you. With the crunch of this seaweed and Unagi it's better than having Unagi Maki. The spicy yellowtail was given as a compliment and honestly, I was so grateful to have it. After having that dipped into yuzu soy sauce youd be amazed how satisfied you feel. For three people with no alcohol and only hand rolls it came out to about $75.

I came in and ordered their five rolls set for $29 ( I wanted other selections like their unagi roll, but if you're fine with a limited selection, then it would be their lunch special set for $21). The rolls were fresh and tasty. I had plenty of time to rest before he set another roll in front of me. The service was great, the host/waiter took his time explaining some of the menu items to me. The restaurant had a relaxed vibe, tucked away in a semi busy plaza.

Still definitely my go-to spot for handrolls and donburi bowls during my work lunch break. A bit sad that they no longer have the tuna donburi bowl so I opted for the Chirashi bowl, which is as delicious! Good amount of fish and it's pretty fresh too, definitely good quality sashimi. On top of that, the staff are really nice and friendly. They really try their best to give customers a good experience dining here. Definitely great customer service from the host/servers to the sushi chefs every single time I eat here. Shoutout to Tim and Will for taking care of me during my lunch!! Keep up the great work guys! :) I will be back soon.

Went to dinner last night with a friend & randomly found this on Yelp looking for a meet up location. Super easy to make a resy through Yelp so love that! It's near the tempo kitchen where I use to go often but haven't been there in a min! Parking was easy to find, usually this parking lot is busy/ crowded. But the time I went was a good time! Stepped inside & it was alot smaller inside then I thought! It was definitely busy, people know about this place cause the place was definitely poppin! Checked in with Rocky the hostess/ server. She was the sweetest! We all shared laughs & she has the best recommendations for us throughout the night! She was very cheerful & pleasant to be around, great customer service! We sat at the bar to get the full experience! We ordered the set of 5 rolls & you got to pick which rolls you would like which was great cause usually it's a pre set menu when I've gone to another handroll spot, you couldn't change out any of the items or pick which rolls! So loved that! It came with a miso soup, which was okay, I've had better. The rolls were what we came for! Got the blue fin tuna crunch roll which was an amazing start! After that I decided I wanted to add in the crunch to the two that didn't have them which rocky made possible by telling the chef! Chef Alex was also great! He was super nice & very accommodating to our changes & our love for the crunch ahahah the rolls were delicious! Dipped in the truffle soy sauce they were all so yummy, I did get a spicy yellowtail crunch which was so good! Salmon crunch, & more of the tuna options. The size portions were great too! They didn't skimp on the fillings & they got us pretty full quickly! So ended up packing up the 2 I have left, to have for lunch today! & I will say they were still good the next day (: Would definitely come back again (:

This is one of our go to spots we love going to for dinner dates or to bring friends to! They all love it - the fish is so fresh and love all the sauces. It's also reasonably priced, go with the set! Comes with a sauce and a miso soup. Yummmm. Also shoutout to Tim for wonderful service today! Friendly and informative. I wish I knew earlier there was rewards, just found out today! I would've been racking up free rolls considering how much we go here! lol

Second time here and just as great as the first! Will and Tim are very hospitable. Vincent and the other chef behind the counter were amazing and efficient. Love the hand rolls here! Does a third time here make me a regular?

Good quality fish and they serve the handroll nori while still crisp. They have a set menu with 3 or 5 rolls that comes with miso soup and sauce. Just to let you know if you order those the portion will be smaller than the regular hand rolls. One thing I need to point out, the suntory beer shouldn't be like this. I understand many Americans prefer beer without the top, but suntory gotta have its foam.

Came in for their Lunch November special. They're offering 5 hand rolls for $21 or 3 hand rolls for $15. It comes with a green tea, miso soup, edamame, and a choice of sauce! You get to choose your own hand rolls! I got the salmon, spicy salmon, spicy scallop, crunchy tuna, and BF tuna hand rolls. Their special is a good deal and very worth it. The rolls are fresh and really good and definitely worth trying. Miso soup is flavorful and served at the perfect temperature. I didn't get my spicy salmon, but they gave me a regular bay scallop instead. The bay scallop is really good! The service is efficient and all the sides came out in a timely manner. We were seating right away at the bar seating when we came in around 2 pm. The ambiance is clean and modern. The art work on the walls are nice. If they keep this deal around, I'll definitely be coming back more often!

we came on a Saturday and it wasn't really busy. Limited bar seating & few tables. Bar seating is better so the chef can hand ur rolls to you directly. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. We all ordered the 5 pc hand roll each. It's deceptively filling so watch out... i got scallops, tuna, salmon, unagi, and yellowtail. All of them were so good! My favorite being the yellowtail and tuna. You get to choose one sauce and I chose the yuzu one which was refreshing and a nice citrusy bite. I'd try their other shoyu or ponzu options if you want something that pairs well with all the hand rolls you choose. Slightly more expensive than expected but good quality food. My friend said the ice cream here is very good, so I'd love to try that next time.

Came here on a friend date with a friend i meet online. I thought handrolls would be a solid choice to talk and eat lol I've actually been eyeing this spot for a minute but every time I'm in Brea it's either early af or late at no in between; so i was excited to actually try it out. I'm a huge handroll fan as of probably last year lol and i love skewers so much but it's hard to find places that don't make them trash ass he'll. We got a spicy scallop roll, spicy tuna, California crunch, premium scallop and a toro one ! We also got crispy tuna rice (a must if it's on the menu), cucumber salad (another must), and then for skewers we got the wagyu, bacon wrapped enoki mushroom and beef tongue. The rolls were all good, i have to say the premium scallop one was the best one. It was so buttery and not overwhelming at all. The Wagyu was rich and not super fatty like some skewers I've had and the beef tongue was good with the lime, salt and pepper. I will say it was a little more tough but i find that's just how thicker cut beef tongue is. They have tablets for you to order but ours wasn't working so the server took the orders, i think it was a normal wait time for food. Not overly slow or fast. We sat at the bar so they just handed us our HR as they were making them. The location is a bit small so i can see there being long waits if you're not an early crew like my friend and i were. The music is also a little loud, but we were right under the speaker so that might be why. Overall i had a great time, food was good and definitely a come back spot for me as someone who lives in Ontario area lol next time im bringing the hubs!

Not everything is raw, they have tempura and unagi. But if your kid is like mine and eats noodles or chicken when we go to Japanese places then you will have trouble finding options. The only thing my kid will eat off the menu is the cucumber roll.

The Pink Lady was something I had high expectations for, and it was good, but in a very subtle way. I think it would be complemented well with some hot sauce. We waited almost 40 minutes for our food, which was frustrating enough. I ordered several pieces of salmon and yellowtail nigiri, and every single one had wasabi hidden underneath the fish. There was no indication on the menu, and our server never mentioned it. My mouth was on fire, but what upset me most was that my son also took a bite and had the same experience. Plenty of kids eat sushi, and customers should be told if wasabi is already included under the fish. When I brought it up, our server apologized and initially said it wasn't supposed to come that way. Then the owner said it was intentional. Another owner tried to tell me it was "traditional" and "common," even though it wasn't disclosed anywhere. Instead of acknowledging that customers should be informed, I felt like they were trying to convince me the problem was mine. They also brought us our roll 45 mins later that was mostly avocado with very little fish and missing cucumber which only added to the disappointment. To their credit, they did remove our bill, and I appreciate that. However, by that point the experience had already been soured by the lack of communication and the way our concerns were handled. A simple warning that the nigiri is served with wasabi under the fish would have prevented the entire situation.

As each course was brought out, our waiter did an excellent job of describing what each item was and it's place of origin. Fifteen courses is alot to try to remember each specific dish so I decided to stay in the moment (after I snapped a pic) and enjoyed each one as we had them and talked about the flavor profiles and what we liked best about it. When my son had made the reservation he must have told them we were celebrating my birthday because in addition to the regular dessert course, our server brought me a birthday dessert which included green tea ice cream and a slice of matcha cheesecake. The full omakase experience was delicious and so fun! I told my son that it was like an advent calendar ~ each course we "opened" had us saying "ooo, how yummy" and left us with almost giddy anticipation of what we'd discover next. If you're looking for something fun and unique for a special occasion, I highly recommend the full omakase experience at Akashiro!

It's a Saturday and husband was ready for sushi. I had another place in mind, but they didn't take…read morereservations and we're not about to chance it and wait. So we found this place and it was in the same vicinity and yay, they took reservations. Made reservations same day for a 18:30 seating. Service is impeccable. We were welcomed with hot towels, and this impressed me: when our server asked if we wanted cold or hot water. Love it! We opted for hot, better for digestion :) Our libation: Kubota sake - semi dry, rich, clean Our dishes: Assorted sashimi (16 pcs) - omakase. No soy sauce needed. Chef prepared with delicious flavors in mind. Tiger scallops - served in a what appears to resemble petrified wood, carved into a long boatlike dish. Hokkaido shrimp, cilantro oil, chilaquita (Peruvian onion relish), sweet potato crisp, smoke aji Amarillo (Peruvian yellow chili) Leche de tigre (rich emulsion of limes, Peruvian spices and chilis) - A complexity of flavors that comes together so completely. Eat with spoon. The delicate potato crisp finishes the bite with a little crunch. Udon picante - bell peppers, quinoa and 2 jumbo shrimp. Love the heat level. Comfort food at its best. Salmon parmesan - Nikkei sushi - seared salmon, parmesan bitter, eel sauce , arare, lime. Amazing. O toro sushi - the fattiest cut of tuna. Eat as is. Again chef prepared. No added seasoning required. Parri maki - fried shrimp, cream cheese, seared tuna topped with chimichurri, aji amarillo, chalaquita, ponzu. Food experience was enhanced by their impeccable taste in music. Super chill, soft beats stream the restaurant. With its perfect lighting too sets all the good moods for us. Don't wait for this fine dining experience of Japanese and Peruvian fusion. Note: when they ask if you want soy sauce, say No, thank you. It would be a shame to kill the taste of a beautiful dish with any added sauce. Kampai! Salud!

There was a good variety of rolls and other options, so there was something for everyone. The presentation was also really nice, and you could tell they take pride in the food they serve. The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and the atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time, and everything tasted fresh and well made. Overall, it was a great place to grab sushi, and I was really happy with the experience. I'd definitely come back again and would recommend AkaFuji Sushi to anyone looking for a good sushi spot.

The courses came out a bit too quickly, and I actually had to ask if they could slow things down because I felt rushed and didn't feel like I had enough time to fully enjoy each dish. Our reservation was at 6 PM, and the restaurant wasn't busy, so I was a little surprised by the pace. I also felt that the chef could have been friendlier. We weren't greeted when we arrived, which made the experience feel a bit less welcoming than what I've experienced here in the past. That being said, our waiters were super friendly and I really appreciated their service. The food was good, but overall, the experience just didn't feel as enjoyable or special as I had hoped.

We've been coming here for YEARS... all the way back to when Annie was our server... miss her a…read morelot. Always good, always fresh, and never disappointed. Now let's hit some points. First, the BOGO deal is awesome. There are happy hour deals, but we rarely get there in time to take advantage. It's just a bit of a drive for us to get there early enough. Second, the Chefs!!! Go to any sushi joint you want... you've got ONE chef slinging fish, totally backed up, trying his best to keep pace, and all the while losing attention to detail and presentation. CRnS always has 3 sometimes 4 Chef's behind the line. The result is faster service.... Of course.... But presentations that are almost too pretty to eat... but, it's sushi, so we eat them anyway. And third, the servers.... They are pretty consistent....There are not new servers every other week like some lesser joints. You get familiar with them and they get familiar you. Which leads me to James! James is awesome, polite, helpful, attentive, and just does a great job. I could never do it.... I'd be like "Bruh, I was just here 2 minutes ago, why didn't you ask more Wasabi and Ginger then?" Not James, always glad to bring us more Wasabi and Ginger.... And I promise you... we wear him out... definitely gets his steps in when we show up. James probably thinks we're packing the stuff in Tupperware but I swear James... we're eating it. Anyway, I have rambled enough. IFYKYK, and if you don't know, give them a visit! SEE YOU TOMORROW!
