The tteokbokki combo, while a bit pricey, is a good portion, very accommodating to customization and customers flavor preferences, and has a good variety of food (chicken, rice, fries, drinks). I appreciate the high quality yet wide range of flavors and dishes they offer here, and I would recommend Dookki for group dinners. The service is very attentive, and the ambiance is pretty chill as It didn't seem to be very congested. The female taking our order was extremely rude and seemed offended when we asked simple questions and gave us snippy answers/rolled her eyes/a blank stare. Our particular table we had didn't have any water so we asked the female server if she could provide us with some water and she angrily replied that it's already at our table. When we explained it wasn't, she just yelled at her coworker to give us some. After giving us our order, the worker also just sat at a table on her phone the whole time, and we didn't want to ask her anything to make her more angry. Food wise, the overall quality seemed to have downgraded a bit as well from when I first tried it. We ordered the cheese chicken and it wasn't very crispy. I've gotten takeout here 3x. While I like the concept and really wanted to like the place, I like other ddeokbokki joints in the area much better. My biggest issue is the overcooked ramen. I've had plenty of takeouts from other places for ddeokbokki, budae jjigae, etc. where ramen is part of the menu and never had this issue. Other places would give you undercooked ramen on the side that you can put in your takeout order once you're ready to eat instead of having it mixed in and soak up all the soups/sauces. With the ramen sitting there getting bloated, all the ddeokbokki sauce is gone by the time I get home in 10-15 mins. One recent improvement compared to my first visit when it first opened is now there's a "solo ddeokbokki" option for lunch on weekdays. You are limited in the number of rice cake types and toppings you can select, but the portion is way more manageable for 1 person. I like that they have a few fun types of rice cakes like corn, cheese, noodle shaped, etc. Also love that you can include mushrooms, veggies, beef, etc. and the crunch on top, though, again, would be great if the crunch were in a separate container. Overall, I've learned my lesson after giving Dookki three chances and won't be going back. read more

The wait for a table can get pretty long on a weekend, but we were able to walk right in on a Tuesday night. In total, there are 6 different kinds of rice cakes to choose from, and, yes, you can absolutely choose a combination of all of them. There are also several different types of meat toppings, vegetables, noodles, and sauces. I've tried both the rose and the Dookki original sauces. Even though I don't regularly eat spicy food, I loved the Dookki original sauce and did not think it was too spicy. I especially loved the little mini sausages because they had such a crisp snap to them. One pot of tteokbokki is around $30 and should definitely be shared. It was a lot of food for just me and my boyfriend - and we can eat a lot, too! To be fair, we also got an order of fried chicken. We got the Honey Brown Chicken wings, which had a sweet honey glaze and a touch of soy sauce. To be honest, I thought the wings were just ok. It is a bit confusing at first, but staff will guide you to how many shareable bowls + burners you want on your table (depends on your party size), and will guide you throughout the process. It is basically a process of choosing what tteokbokki shape you want, toppings, proteins, spice level +sauces. Then, they cook it for you. You pay at the end. You can order Korean fried chicken while you wait, which also has a lot of options and was delish! I came with a part of 6 and we had 3 bowls shared amongst us, which was MORE than enough! We got embarrassed as we saw parties of like 5 sharing only 1 lol. But this of course depends on your appetite and if you want to bring the rest of the food home! As we continued eating our meal, we noticed the chicken hasn't come out yet but we wanted to give the kitchen time as we know that fried chicken typically can take longer. But after we finished the spicy tteokbokki, we noticed the chicken was still not out and taking unusually long so we followed up. By then, it was 8:55pm which is just five minutes before closing and the staff started cleaning up around us. When we asked the server to check on our order, they came back and said they had run out of flour. The confusing part was that they had already taken and confirmed our order. If they had ran out of flour then I would have appreciated a more proactive approach with the staff informing us sooner instead of keeping us waiting and leaving us to follow up ourselves right before closing. It felt like our order had been lost or forgotten. We understand not having inventory but we would've appreciated the communication instead of having us wait around thinking it's still coming. After we had already paid and we are about to leave, the server returned and said they had found a little flour left and could make some chicken for us. It was honestly frustrating and made the overall experience feel subpar. I had a great time at Dookki and can't wait for my next visit! Our group of 5 wasn't too hungry so we opted to share one tteokbokki, honey wings and snowy cheese wings, and it was the perfect amount. I like the concept of being able to choose what toppings, sauce, etc you want to add. They have a great variety of rice cakes, fish cakes, and veggies to add. My favorites were the cheese stuffed tteokbokki, fish cake noodles, and sausage! There is no limit to how many variety you want however the overall max is the same so less amounts of the ingredients will be used. They also top off the tteokbokki with fried wontons which I thought was a nice touch. The wings came a bit after as they are made fresh to order. They were super crispy and hot! The honey one I personally thought was too sweet but my group really enjoyed them. I thought the cheese one was also a bit sweet but had a nice savoryness to it. Service was friendly and the food was received fast. I did think they were a bit stingy with the napkins, we received a tiny stack of very thin napkins and had to keep asking for more. Visited Dookki for dinner with a friend on a weekday evening and it was my first time going to a tteokbokki restaurant! It wasn't too crowded so we were very quickly seated. I was very impressed with how many options there were for the various rice cakes and toppings, and they were extremely generous with them too! I also added on the cheese pour and it was a nice touch, since I'm a huge fan of cheesy things. We got the rosé sauce since I personally cannot eat spicy foods, and the very subtle spice was perfect for my spice-sensitivity. My only small gripe is the food cooled down really quickly, so it was only nice and hot for a few minutes. Not too sure if it was because our pot wasn't lighted properly though. My friend and I wanted to try this spot initially when they had their friends and family opening night. We finally got to try it and it didn't disappoint. We got the Dookki Original and it wasn't too spicy or too sweet. I liked the idea of Build Your Own. I wish there was more of a variety in veggies. You get seated and then you can go to the front to choose your items. The staff checked up on us frequently if we needed napkins. There was a good amount of people on a Thursday night.
