I have been to Original Breakfast House many times, and I have had a great experience every time. Sometimes I have come by myself, while other times I have come here with some of my closest friends. When I was looking at some of the best breakfast restaurants in the Phoenix area, Original Breakfast House was on the list. Thus, I decided to try it out. The owner, John, is a fantastic gentleman who cares about everyone having a great experience in his restaurant. Every time I walked up to the building, he was there to greet me with a warm smile. When I asked him if they had ATMs, since the establishment was cash-only, he directed me to where they could be found within the building. One of the ATMs is found to the right once you enter the building, and another is found near the restrooms in the back. The other staff members are great as well. They are always helpful and ensure you have everything you need, offering anything extra if you need it. The food is fantastic. One of my favorite items on their menu is their El Paso omelette. It is one of the best omelettes I have ever had. Everything tastes fresh, and the omelette is full of flavor. I also like their hash browns, fresh, fluffy biscuits, and their drink selection. Another omelette I like is the Popeye omelette. I also like how delicious their baked goods at the front of the restaurant look once you enter. Next time I stop by, I will have to make sure I give them a try. I also appreciate the pleasant atmosphere. It is a nice classic diner atmosphere that takes you back in time. The ATMs also do not have any fees, which is a huge bonus. If anyone is looking for a great breakfast place to kick-start their day, Original Breakfast House is the place to go. Everything about this place is great! Today 8 of us went here for breakfast. We had the Strawberry Lemon Curd French Toast and everyone loved it! My husband and I also shared a chilie relleno off the spring specials menu, and it, too, was outstanding. Everyone said their food was so delicious. And a big shoutout to our waitress, Heather! She did such a great job taking care of all of us. She was friendly and fun. She gave a recommendation of green pork chilie to my brother, which he loved. They take cash or Zelle, no credit cards or debit cards, but they do have an ATM there. The girl at the checkout counter was very friendly and helped me in using Zelle. Got here early on a Saturday morning and thankfully so as it started getting busy as soon as we were leaving around 8! This place is awesome. We were seated right away and the service was impeccable from start to finish. We both got fresh squeezed orange juice that was amazing. The chilaquiles were good I do wish they had a little more spice/flavor to them. The banana fosters French toast was out of this world- not normally a sweet breakfast kinda gal but insisted we get these and I'm so glad we did. We also got the chicken fried steak and wow it had the best gravy ever and was cooked perfectly would get this a million times over I can't wait to come back and try more of their menu! read more

This place has good reviews so I gave it a try. Welcomed by some eclectic decor and a big box of pastries at the front hostess station. The cinnamon rolls looked incredible, but also off limits for me. I was greeted and seated the the server quickly brought coffee and flavored creamer, which I appreciated. The menu had lots of interesting dishes but I went with the five egg white omelette with, iirc, mushrooms, spinach, pepper jack cheese, avocado and pica de gallo. Also a side of cheesy grits, and some wheat toast which came with butter and jelly. The omelette was ok, but the cheesy grits were a bit odd. And the toast was overdone. There was a lot of food. And I left it behind. I likely only ate half of everything because the omelette didn't inspire, the grits had an odd textures, the bread was burnt and coffee just a bit blah. Perhaps I should have chosen differently. There's lots of cool things on the menu that could be worth a second trip, but I think it's better to go elsewhere. read more

Original Breakfast House had been on my "Go" list for a while so I was excited for it to be chosen as the spot for our book club discussion this month. The laid back Cali vibes here are contagious. They do not take reservations and are cash only. We arrived at 9:30am on a Saturday with about a 10 min wait. What's nice is they have a beautiful outdoor, covered, seating area, so having to wait isn't so awful. The host was really nice and we were seated in about 10 min, just like they said. I had heard (okay read in Yelp reviews) that they have some surprising and delicious Mexican combinations on the menu. Our waitress was Holly and she took great care of us despite being very busy. She took time to go over her favorites on the menu and overall had a fun demeanor that added to our experience. For the table we ordered the brioche cinnamon roll and Pop Tart to start. Both were out of this world. The table was split on which was "better" so order both! For my main entree I had to go with the Al Pastor Benedict. I've never seen something like that on a menu and love me some Pastor. I was not disappointed!! I also couldn't pass up adding a slice of their famous fried French toast and while I did not expect it to cost $7 it was worth it. I'd definitely return to the Original Breakfast House! I overall enjoyed my meal here. We visited on a Wednesday morning and were seated immediately. AJ provided attentive service throughout our meal. I loved the Hawaiian surfer theme--they really embrace the ALOHA vibe with their uniforms and decor. While the menu only features a few Hawaiian-inspired dishes, like loco moco, it adds to the ambiance. The banana brûlée oatmeal was decent but could use improvement; I found it a bit thin and lacking flavor. A touch of spice or citrus would enhance it. I really enjoyed my savory crepe; the crepe itself and the filling were fantastic. However, the sauce on top was bland, so I scraped it off and added some of my husband's sausage gravy for extra flavor. We were lucky enough to find this restaurant on yelp and the recommendation did not disappoint. When we arrived someone opened the front door and greeted us with a huge smile. We were sat immediately and the restaurant was super busy. Our server was very bubbly and friendly. We asked for recommendations and she recommended a variety of different dishes. I ordered the Al Pastor hash and it was amazing. Such unique flavors all mashed up and all delicious. The owner stopped by to check in on our food service. On 4th of July we had just a 5 minute wait and it was worth it! We were seated and greeted by several workers before our order was taken. It was a busy morning, however, all the staff worked very well together. A table of four was quickly set up to accommodate a family of six. Portions are good sized and prices are reasonable. My husband and I split the Popeye omelette and we shared an order of the cinnamon roll pancakes. Our request for crispy, hashbrowns, and extra toasted English muffin were served exactly as ordered. Truly gave the vibes of "we actually like working here & like each other." I ordered a basic coffee with heavy cream. Didn't love the $4.25 price for it but there are worse things in life. Also, I only ordered the Crispy Carnitas & Avocado omelette with no sides. Danielle took $2 off since I didn't get any sides. This was lovely & greatly appreciated. Especially since most places still charge full price even when you don't get the full meal. The omelette was just eggs. No milk. No cream. No cheese. No pancake batter. Just eggs. Loved it. Fluffy & delicious. The carnitas themselves were tasty. The red chile sauce was nice with a little kick at the end. Some extra heat would be lovely. The avocado part was a little deceptive, it did not seem as though there was nearly enough avocado in this as it was primarily on the ends of the omelette. Prices were reasonable. I needed a good breakfast spot in Phoenix. I NEEDED it. I was having a mediocre food experience so far and just needed something good. We got to Original Breakfast, checked in and told despite there being a large crowd it would be no more than 20 minutes - and they weren't wrong. Once seated we were quickly greeted and offered fresh squeezed OJ and coffee. Our food came out SO FAST that I timed the table next to us. We were a table of two and they were a table of three but I still needed to know. EIGHT minutes from placing order to receiving food. EIGHT. MINUTES. for a three top. I got bacon eggs home fries and pancakes. The wife got a big gooey scramble mess. Everything was amazing. The pancakes were the best I've ever had. Seriously. Delicious and fluffy. The only gripe I would have is the coffee wasn't my favorite, it had a flavor to the brew I couldn't quite place. Got a side of bacon, eggs and sausage and 2 drinks. The bill came to just under $85!! When he first dropped the bill I added up $50. Granted he forgot to add the drinks, so they gave it back to him to add the drinks and tax. It didn't dawn on me until after we left that that was insane.
