I love this place! I used to come here all the time on the weekends when I used to live close by. It's a small place with a home kind of feel. They are not like the usual kind of breakfast place. The coffee is strong, just like I like it. Most places have weak coffee. I their crapes are amazing! Their apple pancake it's so delicious, it takes a little long to cook so I recommend to order it right away so you don't feel that it took too long as well with the Duch Baby. They have great customer service!. Our waitress Nicole today was very nice and kept checking us with fresh coffee. I definitely recommend this place if you are in the area. Their menu says the Benedicts come with potato pancakes which is why we ordered them. We got home with our order and saw that we had been given flapjacks instead of potato pancakes. Very, very different. Didn't want to drive 20 minutes back so I called and asked the manager for a refund on the Benedicts only. Our order was $52 and we were willing to pay for the food that we had actually ordered. The manager however refused to process a refund and offered to give us some free potato pancakes in the future. I don't want future potato pancakes. I wanted potato pancakes with my Eggs Florentine this morning. That or my money back. Then I noticed that we hadn't been given any hollandaise sauce with our benedicts so our meal was now a total and complete failure. We basically got some poached eggs on bread. I came here often growing up with my parents, also visiting a north side location when I moved north in the city for college. Back in town with my husband, we all came in on a Monday morning because the Monday special is the apple pancake - something my husband had never experienced! The food hasn't changed since I was a kid and is still terrific. The apple pancake is still enormous (hubby and I split one and a side of bacon, and a side of hash browns). The potatoes, on the other hand, were dry and almost devoid of flavour - what a disappointment. The service here was very good, with refills on the coffee coming often, however the server seemed to forget my husband had a soda and it was very difficult to get a refill for him. Other places say they are the best for Breakfast but OPH is really the best in the U.S., no matter what location you visit. They have the highest quality and cook everything to perfection. The only downer is that you're going to pay a high price for that quality, so you just need to go less often and then appreciate it that much more when you do! I wish I was rich and I'd eat here every day LOL! I come here about once a month. The friendliest waitress is Julie hands-down! The only other place close to this quality is Walker's. I was having a wonderful breakfast with some dear friends this morning at Original Pancake House in Oak Forest, IL. Wonderful, that is before we had a very unfortunate situation occur. You see, after waiting a while for our table, we sat down, had good food and great conversation. Upon finishing our meal, the manager, Luis stopped by and said, "If you all are done, would you mind leaving so some other guests can have your table, we have people waiting." Wait, did he really just ask us to leave? I very kindly explained to Luis that we were not done, that we go there often for breakfast and discussion AND we had to wait to be seated so the others could as well then added that it was very rude of him to make the request. He then offered to take our drinks off of the bill for our inconvenience. I reminded him that we all drank water with the exception of one glass of apple juice. He again stated there were people waiting. I informed Luis that no, we were not done and two of us requested a cup of coffee and continued our visit. I get it, easier to seat 2 than a group, however witnessed larger groups leaving which you would assume accommodations of similar size would be available for seating. This is the first time complaining about this restaurant. This morning, about 7:25a, stopped by because I had a taste for their baked apple pancake. So, we sat down and the server (I was told her name is shannon) asked my mother and I if we wanted drinks, we said no. Because we said no, shannon gets sarcastic and asked if we wanted silverware. We let that slide. So, my mother (who is a sexy senior) gives her order and says she wants her eggs sunny side up. Now, other times when my mother order those eggs, at the same location, the other servers dotted it down and put the order in as said. shannon has to tell my mother how to order them, in other words, she called herself correcting my mother. (She's a waitress and she's telling a senior what she wants, although she's a senior too.). That was the second strike. The third strike occurred when I stated I wanted the apply syrup. shannon starts explaining that they have maple syrup, so I politely told her, "Didn't I just tell you I wanted the apple syrup." To that, shannon says "wow" and walks away. Go tells her co-workers, whatever she told them because they all stopped and looked at me, to which I waved "hello!" Spoke with the manager, she was pleasant. The manager didn't try to "defend" shannon, but did apologize for the unpleasant situation. Now, I usually leave a 10 - 20$ tip for the server and even tip the men who bust down the tables. The men weren't there and I left shannon nothing. If I go back and find out shannon is my server, I will politely ask to be seated in another server's area. Don't know if shannon is her name but she's a short Caucasian lady with eyewear and she appears to be in her sixty's (I could be wrong. Maybe she looks old.) read more

How is it possible that I lived so very close to this pancake house and never reviewed it? I mean, really? Okay, here now to remedy this. Let me agree with the previous reviewer, Adam S., that your coffee cup is always full and the bacon is, in fact, like a salt lick (at least that's what I remember from my pre-vegetarian days). I can't vouch for the apple pancakes, but the pecan pancakes are fabulous. Ditto the potatoes with a little bit of onion and cheese melted on top. Mmmm. You might wait to get seated, and if you have boundaries that prevent you from an enjoying a meal if you're seated on a stranger's lap (umm, yeah...the tables are *that* close together), you might not dig the environment. Service is usually pretty strong and consistent. Definitely seasoned servers--I've never received food that wasn't spot on as I ordered. On Sundays (and 'peak' Saturday hours as well), I do not recommend trying to squeeze in with three kids under the age of five, especially when you need a high chair. As I said before, space is limited, and you will probably spend most of your meal silently wondering if the staff could just please lift the coffee pot a little higher while sailing it over your baby's head. In short, the food is really good. Aside from the pecan pancakes, I'm partial to the waffle, although I still pine for the thin and crispy waffle they boasted a few years back (now their waffle is your traditional Belgian variety). So here's the thing about their over-sized hot chocolate: it's just hot chocolate with whipped cream. I mean...that's fine. But I was expecting something with a little more...pizzazz. But here's the thing about the dutch babies: I've never tried them. Why, you ask? Because they don't come with fucking pancakes - why weren't you paying attention earlier?? Ok so the place gets four stars because their food is on point. Seriously, eggs...omelettes...bacon....all of that...they don't get too fancy and they don't mess around. It's just solid breakfast food - you can't go wrong. They miss a star because it can sometimes be shotty service. But really, who can say that if they were a server and had to wait on hungover, unshowered, questionable tippers- that they would bring their A game everytime. But also, the ambiance is like the ambiance of....well, a cheap breakfast joint. I was at this Location in Oak Forest. I went to use the Ladies Restroom to Urinate. After I washed my Hands, I noticed there wasn't any Soap so I reported it to the Front Desk. The Lady told me to just use the Hand Sanitizer by the Door, she goes to the back and comes back and says she can't find the Soap. So I went ahead and used the Hand Sanitizer but decided I'm not gonna stay to eat here. My Husband and I already ordered Coffee and I noticed Lipstick on his Coffee Cup. So we just left and I do not plan to ever return back here ever again. Due to this Covid-19 going on. I would think, that they should be more careful making sure everything is Sanitized. The portion are very small for the price. There are spots that give you much bigger portions for like 7-8 bucks and the food is delicious. This place definitely needs a decor update. The booths are a little uncomfortable and old and the pictures on the wall are circa 1975.... But the food is good and that's why people come. The pumpkin pancakes were delicious and I like how they have healthier options too. Not everyone wants to have a mini heart attack after leaving here. Came here on New Years Day waited a while for a table, but we had been waiting for two more people to come anyways. We got seated and the little glasses of water on the table were empty in a matter of minutes. Yes we were all hungover and thirsty. It was almost 10 minutes before the waitress came and took our order and brought us coffee. We ran out of cream and asked for more and she completely forgot to bring cream or more water when we asked. Another waitress brought us our food and we asked her for these things and finally got everything we need. It was a busy day so we can excuse slow service. The food was good but the portions were small in comparison to other places. I'm a big fan of breakfast so I can be a little snobby. The skillets are a normal thing my group of friends order. Here, the skillets are SMALL and for $9.59, everyone was disappointed in the size of their skillet. I had the bacon pancakes. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to try this and it was good. In the end, we would not recommend this place if other places are around. This is a cute little diner just off the highway. When I went, killing some time before an appointment I had in the area, there were a lot of regulars hanging out there. I was promptly seated in a booth. I was dining alone so I was happy to have a waitress that made just enough conversation to say "hey, you seem like a decent human being" but not so much conversation that I couldn't get any work done. I have forgotten her name at this point, but I'm sure she stands out as the best waitress in the joint. She was really sweet and even tried to protect me from myself by bringing me extra napkins as I ate my chocolate chip pancakes (don't judge! Adults like choco-chip pancakes too!) while wearing white pants. The pancakes hit the spot and they were reasonably priced. Just had another wonderful breakfast at the Original Pancake House. It has recently been totally remodeled and the new look is great. But what is really amazing is that the prices have not changed. I totally expected to find the menu changed because of the obvious expense of the extensive remodel. But no! The fabulous pancakes and omelettes are the same cost as ever! McCandless PA Arrived and signed in - asked to stand outside for the approx 15 minute wait. After 15 min. a group of 17 arrived and were immediately seated because of call ahead, with restaurants at limited capacity this created an additional wait - doubling our wait time. When asked about the 17 being seated before the 3 groups waiting, the host said he would just take our name off the list! Really? After being seated we were told there are no menus "just look on line". Pulled up a menu, ordered, waited an additional 25 minutes (party of 17) received our order - incomplete had to ask for butter and syrup - PANCAKE HOUSE?! never got refills on coffee or water even after asking DON'T GO! read more

Imagine paying $10 for breakfast and they bring two little eggs and sausage links. Ask about hash browns and now your breakfast is $14. I don't know why anyone goes there. My review is mainly based off of customer service vs the food. The food alone would bring it to a 4 star (bravo chef) but the service was flaky and the owner was unwilling to accommodate for what was a few very annoying mishaps. I ordered bfast over the phone. Before ordering, I looked up the menu online and used that. I was told that only one thing I wished to order was no longer offered, so that wasn't a big deal. After ordering and then hanging up, I get a call from the girl who took my order asking me how I wanted my eggs done for an eggs benedict. She then proceeded to ask me if I wanted mushroom sauce... o_O Well, that is a popular bfast dish and a place that charges an arm and a leg for food should KNOW that eggs are always poached and served with Hollondaise sauce. I was confused and informed the girl how their dish should be served. She apologized and that was that. I didn't really think anything of it. Fast forward to picking up my meal: I go to pay to find out that it was a hefty bill. I asked why it was so expensive. Their menu online did not have the right prices. Awesome. You should probably update that OHoP. Anyway, I also found out that they charge for carry out containers. What? You charge a huge amount for one meal AND the containers? Cheap. A little unclassy. But OK. I was asked if I wanted any extra syrups or anything and simply stated that I didn't need any. I get in my car and get home and quickly count the food containers. They forgot the rye toast. Ugh, so annoying. I don't live very far, so I sucked it up and went back to get my toast. They give me the toast and I drive home. When I get inside and we unpack to eat, we all notice that there was zero syrups, butter, silverware, napkins, or anything needed to accompany the meals. Some of the meals called for specific sauces. My husband's eggs benedict also came with zero sauce...even AFTER talking to the girl a second time over the phone who took my meal. Now I am highly annoyed. I have to drive up there a third time to complain about not getting any sauces, condiments, etc. If you are going to charge a lot of money, I want everything for my meals. The young girls at this point are looking more embarrassed for making multiple mistakes. I didn't make a huge fuss, but did show that I was annoyed. The owner comes over with a bag full of what I needed and apologized. Nothing else for being inconvenienced. First time there and last time there. Apart from all of that, the food was very good.
