We came to Original Roadhouse Grill to celebrate my mom's 79th birthday, and it ended up being one of the most disappointing dining experiences we've had. The service felt completely overwhelmed. Our waitress seemed overworked and inattentive our drinks sat empty for long stretches, and the bread was never refilled. It made what should have been a special celebration feel neglected. The food was just as bad. There were six of us, and we all ordered steaks. Every single one came out greasy, and the sides were not good at all. Original Roadhouse has always been a go to but I feel like it's going downhill. On my most recent visit the place was not clean! There were inches of dust on the blinds at my table. It had obviously been there for quite awhile because there were fingerprints on it: like kids have been touching it. Dust next to my food was so unappealing. Service was a little slow but the bartender was the only server in the area and she was doing her best to handle the bat and tables. First let me say, I've eaten at this restaurant when it was new and several times over the years. Like all places, sometimes great, others not as good. Tonight, service was poor. When entering this Friday at 6pm, they were not crowded. The hostess was very polite funny, and sat us quickly. The waitress however was extremely rushed. I get when places are busy it can be crazy, but not tonight. She got our drinks quickly, but before we could review the menu she was pushing us for our order. I didn't mind that. The food came (delivered by someone else). It was excellent! I got the tritip, the wife got the sirloin. When we were done eating when she showed up and asked if I want another cocktail. I declined, because dinner was over. It was here that I thought it got a bit irritating. She disappeared, dinner was clearly over. We sat and sat. Then stacked our plates, then put my credit card to the edge of the table. I don't think it was until the hostess sat another couple behind us and she came to take their order before she realized we were waiting for the check. Was all this and big deal? Not really, just irritating after a long day. I still tipped 20%, it could have been just a rough night for her and everyone else did a great job. Service was great, per usual, friendly hostess' and friendly, kind and very attentive waitress', however, the cooks were having an off night or something. My children and I took my husband out for his birthday, husband and daughter both ordered a steak (one medium and one medium well) both came out WELL done. My daughter didn't want to bother so she tried to eat what she described as "chewing on leather". Husband sent his back and didn't receive his steak back until everyone was about done eating... My husband only ended up eating a quarter of his steak before packing the rest up to eat at home as to "not keep us waiting on him", despite everyone saying it's fine. I've never experienced this ever while going out to eat. I took my wife out for her birthday dinner. The food was good, baked macaroni a little bland, but otherwise no major complaints there. What ruined the whole experience was their birthday celebration (free desert and song) for my wife. Mind you the place was pretty much empty, but the staff came out and placed what looked like a bib and make shift hat on her head and sang happy birthday. I wasn't till after they walked away I noticed they had used a toilet seat cover as the bib and a coffee filter as a hat. WTF... I have never seen that before. This was a happy accident. We put roadhouse into our GPS on our way back from California heading home to Vegas. We ment to go to the Texas road house instead. It was quiet at 8pm and the service was great. The rolls came out fresh and my sister, our friend, and my nephew make the entire basket disappear with their honey butter. This place is pretty basic. Set up similar to a Chili's or TGI Fridays. It wasn't very crowded when we arrived but it started filling up. Waite staff is pretty attentive and service was good. Plenty of seating. They were not spreading guests out which I thought was interesting. For peace of mind I would have preferred that. Food was mediocre and basic. I think we all ordered the same salad. Nothing that made me feel like I needed to come again. The best day to go is a Tuesday! The service was speedy and friendly. My step son had the Cajun burger which he loved and said it had a nice kick to it but not overly spicy. My husband had the Ribeye which he liked it was cooked exactly how he wanted it at medium rare. His only complaint was it had a lot of fat. I had the whiskey river salmon and baked potato. I've only eaten at this Original Roadhouse Grill (ORG) once and it was pre-COVID-19. Thought I give them some feedback even though it's been a while back. If I recall, I ordered the Grilled Chicken Sandwich with steak fries. I haven't eaten beef since 2018 and just recently added back pork so I know I didn't order any of those two meats. I remember my meal was really good... both the sandwich and fries. Chicken was moist and fries were very crispy. When something is good, the food memory sticks with me very well. I probably didn't order any specific drinks since my drink of choice is usually water. Staff was okay. Prices were decent back then. Parking is plenty. I haven't been back to ORG, but maybe one day, I will. In the meantime, for those who live in the high desert area or those on their way to and from Las Vegas, swing on by this ORG for your steak, ribs, or your choice of meat! Roadhouse is my GO-TO when I want real food. The servers here are simply the best around and you can't go wrong with the atmosphere. The steaks, salads and the Texas Eggrolls (absolutely the best!) are so good!! The warm rolls and the honey butter is DIVINE! Plus drinking out of a mason jar is just plain fun!
