I got takeout from this place. I'd ordered fried calamari, green curry, pad see eww, mango sticky rice, and egg rolls. The price is good. Calamari was good. My favorite is probably the green curry. The flavoring was just on point. It's not spicy but very delicious. The egg rolls was my least favorite because it was just vegetable and a bit bland. Mangos on the sticky rice was good, but the coconut flavor sticky rice was not the flavor I'm looking for. I've been to Thailand and it's a different type of coconut sauce and sweetness. Ordered Pad See Ew takeout. The food automatically smelt burnt and like old, rotten oil as soon as I opened the bag, before even opening the takeout container. That is what it tastes like too. It overpowers any other flavor. As if they reused expired/rotten oil, and didn't clean the pan for a month before making it. It's also very overcooked and the noodles are like a pile of mush. Original Thai is a great spot if you are craving good authentic Thai Food. My go to dish is the Pad See Ew combination. Its a large rice noodle stir fry with beef, chicken, and shrimp. Original Thai does it quite well and traditional to how you would see in Thailand. Its cooked over a smoking hot wok with super high heat. This makes the dish have a smokey flavor which I love. I'm hear almost weekly and come for my go to dish. I have had their beef noodle and their Pad Gra Pow which I like as well but my preference is their Pad See Ew. The interior is tiny - maybe 8 tables - and it seems their business is primarily take out. But my friend and I chose to sit and order. Our server provided us with their take out menu to order from. We ordered egg rolls as an appetizer. My friend ordered Pad Thai and I went with the Tangerine Chicken with sides of white rice and peanut sauce. The kitchen is right behind the counter and we watched as they cooked our meals to order. The egg rolls were hot, crisp and full of vegetables. Not sure what veggies were stuffed in there but they were delicious. A mysterious citrus sauce was provided for dipping, which I thought was pretty darn tasty. My tangerine chicken can be best described as popcorn chicken covered in a sticky orange sauce that had a consistency like honey. The chicken had a crisp exterior. Some pieces were more meaty than others; the meatier pieces brought my tastebuds great joy. The rice was rice. But cooked properly. The peanut sauce, which I poured onto my rice, was presented in a small plastic cup and was thick & robustly peanutty. My friend's pad thai (thin rice noodles stir-fried with egg, bean sprouts, chives and crushed peanuts in tamarind sauce) was excellent but I had a mere bite and judge it by that quick taste. I nearly forgot to mention they make a legit Thai iced tea too! Our server was amazingly attentive and we were impressed that the cook came out to check on how we liked the food. I didn't expect great service like this at such an unassuming place. This great Thai eatery is only a mile from my work yet I've somehow missed its existence in the past dozen years. You could sense the authenticity in the spices and aromatics -- really appreciated how much lemongrass was used, yum! The portion size for the soup and curry was awesome for the price, but the noodles was a bit disappointing. I opened the box after getting home and the amount looked even sadder since the noodles had shifted to one side from the drive The cashier was very friendly, made sure my order was on time, and ensured my bags had the utensils and condiments it needed. Tip: she told me that online orders are sent to them 10 minutes before the pick up time, so if you are early before your arrival window, you will likely need to wait. Calamari- first off, I am truly grateful of how they packaged it. To maintain the crispiness, my takeout box was beautifully ventilated and the cashier didn't close it til I came in and paid. The batter reminded me of onion rings and the squid was very tender. Pad ki mao - I ended up getting pad ki mao instead of the pad seew. The basil was prominent and worked well with the tomatoes. Otherwise, the food from here seems like from a different region than I'm used to having from other Thai places. I had requested medium spice for all but none were even remotely spiced. 1. Crab noodle was made with thin rice noodles, stir fried with crab and bean sprouts plus special sauce -the noodles arrived already starting to congeal together and barely any crab meat 2. Shrimp fried rice was a bit on the greasy side and just so-so 3. Spicy fish fillet had chopped assorted vegetables with a light oyster flavored sauce and very mild 4. Tom kha soup was very mild flavor - i added fried tofu to it but maybe that's not a great add on 5. The best dish was the 8 pieces butterfly shrimp and sweet sauce. The meal was satisfactory but not really knock my socks off great. Inside this generic plaza with Chase, Starbucks, and CVS, It's easy to miss this tiny mom and pop joint. But don't let its petite restaurant size fool you, this restaurant packs a powerful punch! The boat noodle had a rich broth and cheesy noodle with soft tender chunks of meat. I got medium spicy and it was actually fairly spicy for my standard. Be careful if you're used to a different scale of spiciness like American or Japanese. This is legit Southeastern Asian spiciness we're talking about. Pad Kee Mao with seafood is $3 extra. Quite a steep climb. I don't know if I would get it but I definitely recommend for all seafood aficionados. The noodle was chewy and sweet. Very well done! The shrimp fried rice was up to par with the Daikokuya Ramen's fried rice. Delicious down to the last bite. Did they just pluck the shrimps right out of the ocean and cooked it in front of us? During the quarantine I was hoping for some really good Thai food, unfortunately, this did not hit the spot. The pad see ew and chicken satay were just OK but the other dishes were off, such as the yellow basil chicken curry and the coconut based soup (Tom Kha Gai). The chicken in the curry seemed to be a bit undercooked and chewy and the soup was too salty. I don't know if the quarantine times affected their dishes but I'm willing to give them another chance when this "stay at home" order is lifted. The food was packed safe without any leakage. green curry chicken, chicken pad see eew, tom yum soup and panang curry beef were not overly sweetened like a lot of the places I have visited in the past. When I asked for spicy, they gave me a good amount of spicy without altering the taste of the entree. My only complaint was the spicy scallop and shrimp was very small in quantity in comparison to the rest of the food. I understand it is more expensive but the portion size was not in relation to the price they charge. Other than that, I had a good experience with their delivery service and food taste. I have had better but this place services a very decent Pad Thai. I know that some Thai places DRENCH the tamarind sauce, which I hate. But they used the tamarind sauce amount perfectly. It is also a tad pricey tho. 4/5 Service: The phone order was efficient and friendly when a lady picked up. When I arrived, the same lady was putting together my order and the napkins, forks, spoon, and condiments. She actually helped me to take my to-go lunch to my car, since I am in a wheelchair. I don't really need help but she asked so I accepted. I thanked her to take to my lunch to my car I was appreciative. 3/5 Decor: Original Thai is tiny. I believe you can fit around 6-8 people. Larger parties are not advised. If you do order a lot of food, I suggest you phone order and pick it up. Decor is minimal. I am glad that I tried Original Thai today.
