I love this place never lets me down always my favorite go to. My favorite burger place for over 20 years

Absolutely my favorite fast food burger these days. The Caliente Burger ($8.50 out the door) amps up the flavor of the regular Tommy's chili burger to new heights. It's a delicious sloppy mess best enjoyed dining in, straight off the griddle. Ambiance here is spot-on early 80s retro skylights and wood panel ceilings. This hits just right, as a very occasional splurge (from a saturated fat and calories point of view - the price is quite fair for a big juicy burger these days). read more

I never review Tommy's mainly because it's either hit or miss with the food and service. However, my last two visits have been exceptional at this location. Today, I stopped at the drive through at approximately 1:45pm. The young man at the drive through provided exceptional service. He was just well mannered and well trained. Offered me sauces I didn't even need. Repeated my order. I received everything exactly how I ordered it. They've stepped up their game here. Last time I was here I dined inside. Super ample space and very clean. Young man that helped me that time was also on point. This is very basic expectations for a customer. I'd highly recommend this location. read more

The original Tommy's is on the corner of Beverly & Rampart and is a great place to meet people. At the time I was there they had containers of hot peppers and they sold Chili Dogs, Chili Burgers, individual packages of potato chips & cans of soda pop. The Chili Burgers were great as long as you eat them there. Meeting stars & politicians & other Hollywood people. Open very late when people working late in downtown Los Angeles. read more

I was able to get here by 1140 am. Tip, the only entrancess into the parking lot are on Laurel canyon. Don't try going through the drive thru exit off of Burbank. There wasn't many people there at all. No one at the speaker box but there was one car at the window. I placed my order for the BOGO chili cheeseburger deal. I requested them without the bun in order to stay somewhat on my low carb diet. I did not order any French fries or drink either. Tommys nailed my order. The bowls came in a paper box tray with napkins and utensils. I was even asked if I wanted ketchup or anything else. Great service, very happy with my experience at the drive thru. read more

Can you or should you eat this everyday? You probably shouldn't. At least not the way I order. Double Chili Cheese burger and Chili Cheese fries. You are going to feel very. Heavenly to the tastebuds but prepare for a food coma. Love this location, never too busy always great service. read more

I am disappointed that I have to write this, but it is necessary. I am a fan of Tommy's and frequent it from time to time. However, I had an absolutely terrible experience recently at your Laurel Canyon location, which I would like to have addressed. On August 2nd at approximately 3:40 pm (receipt time 3:51pm) I stopped by to pick up some food. I was the 3rd car in line and placed my order. Let's just say it was taking longer than usual. That is fine, I am a patient person, when I finally pulled up to the window I realized why it was taking so long. The staff was chit-chatting/socializing. Once again, that's fine, I get it. The person at the window Carol(e) (I recall) kept her back to me the entire time never really acknowledging me and laughing with her peer. She provided me my food: chili cheese burger combo (had no chili when I got home) and a chili cheese dog. I asked for ketchup and a straw and she handed me a yellow peppers due to socializing. At this point it was annoying. I politely, but firmly reinstated my request for ketchup and a straw, while stating that there was a long line due to them not paying attention. It caught their attention. I went about my business and it was just an inconvenient/annoying experience. Now the exciting part, Carol was so aloof that she charged me $155.33 for my burger combo and hot dog. Thanks Carol(e)! However, you spell your name. If it was unintentional my hope is that you aren't terminated and rather this be a learning lesson. To management/ownership, I ask you investigate (film footage) to verify intent as though $155.33 was stolen from you. If the intent was to defraud/steal, please alert me so I may prosecute to the full capacity. I work for a financial institution and have the resources/know-how to do so. Stopped by for lunch today. Haven't been to this location in a long time. Drive they took a little longer than usual but that was ok since the food was clearly fresh. Customer service was EXCELLENT! Drove up to drive thru today. Paid for my food at the drive thru window and I had to ask for a refund once I saw a roach walking along the drive thru counter inside the window!!! Just outright disgusting... The employee handed us our drink and overhead my girlfriend say "eww is that a cockroach?" he then closed the drive thru window and I can just read his lip explaining to his manager Maria that there's a roach on the counter. Maria comes over kills the roach with a napkin and didn't even bother spraying or disinfecting the surface. I asked for my money back as they began to apologize for what happened. I think the amount of years I have been eating at Tommy's speaks for itself. I have been going to Tommy's ever since I can remember, and I am 55 now. I grew up right around the corner from the original location on Beverly and Rampart. I have my kids loving Tommy's just as much as I do. I live right beside this place and I kept saying I was gonna try it because it says world famous hamburgers on the sign so I finally decided to give it a shot. Unfortunately the hamburger was so sloppily put together and then I found a hair in my breakfast burrito so I just left the food on the table and walked away. Listen, let me save you 15 mins of your time right now. Don't go to the drive thru just to be greeted by an angry skinny employee named Alexandra. She's asked my boyfriend and I to wait at the drive thru and it took her 5 mins to get back to us. As my boyfriend was telling her our order she kept talking over him and of course she STILL gave us a hotdog with onions after we asked her for no onions. Here's a tip for you sweetie listen before you speak and give your rude little attitude especially to people who didn't do anything to deserve your rudeness. Also, next time a PAYING customer ask for a little extra of something don't talk over them and repeat yourself continuously because we heard you the first three times. Okay! So we ordered a "chili dog with mustard and tomato" at the drive thru. (The posted menu lists both hot dogs and chili dogs.) Guess what? Got a plain hot dog with mustard and tomato -- no chili! Why order a "chili dog" if you're not getting any chili on it? Went back to the store and showed the manager (Maria) the chili-less chili dog. Her less-than-logical reply was that we should have ordered "a hot dog with chili, mustard, and tomato." So why in the Hell does the menu offer both chili and plain dogs if you're supposed to order a basic hot dog and add your preferred toppings if you want more than just chili? This makes no sense. Here's the deal: is this place really a 5? No. But it's Tommy's. It's classic LA. If you served me their chili in a bowl with a spoon, it would potentially gross me out :-). But put it on that burger... and it's sublime in a way that you're either going to love or hate. Clearly I love it. But make no mistake, this is greasy, tasty, messy, fantastic, iconic 2am food. A-OK pretty much sums it up. If this were a sliding scale I would probably go 2.75 stars...a little extra for the chili. I ate my burger and didn't wear any of it. I'm funny that way but I'm not generally a sloppy eater. This burger is tough to keep under control though. It needs to be swaddled in the wrapper right to the end my friend. If not it will mess all over you like a baby with a grumbly tummy bouncing on your knee. Every other Tommy's we've been to has been consistent and good. We didn't expect anything different on this visit but we were wrong. My husband and I ordered chili burgers. The chili looked off but it was dark so I really didn't think anything of it. The taste also seemed off but it was dark and we were hungry so we ate anyway. Bad idea! My husband and I were both sick for 2 days afterward. Its the only thing we ate that our children didn't eat and they didn't get sick. I will be staying away from Tommy's for awhile. Service is friendly, food is classic Tommy's, seating area clean and comfortable. I like this location. What is it about Tommy's? The chili is really not hot enough (temperature wise) The hot dog doesn't have the *snap POP* of Pinks or a Dodger Dog. The beefsteak tomatoes, while fresh and large, don't have the flavour they used to have, years ago. Yet, I'm still tempted and sometimes I fall victim to the temptation. It's Tommys. I like this Tommy's as it's not in a sketchy area like the one in Van Nuys. The drive through and restaurant is big and clean. There is ample parking available and the drive through actually had speakers that worked. I have not gone into he restaurant here, but from what I can see, it looks clean to me. Only negative was that I waited at least 10 minutes for my food. I saw them making the fries when I pulled up to the window. I can't fault them for this because I'd rather have fresh made fries than ones that have been sitting going stale. read more
