If you feel like lighting hundreds of dollars on fire and still having a rodent problem, then by all means, call Orkin. This isn't "pest control"--it's a high-priced theater performance where the only victim is your bank account. I paid a premium for "expert" intervention. Instead, a technician showed up, spent five minutes throwing four pathetic traps on the floor, and vanished. I could have done a more thorough job myself for the price of a cup of coffee. It is offensive how little work they actually do for the astronomical price they charge. The mouse is literally mocking me at this point, but Orkin is too busy rescheduling my appointments for the fifth time to care. When you finally get them on the phone, they don't offer solutions--they blame you. Apparently, it's my fault their overpriced, lazy "strategy" failed. Do not fall for the brand name. They are a predatory billing company that occasionally drops off plastic traps. Go to any hardware store, spend $10 on your own gear, and you'll be doing 100% more work than these scammers. Orkin's service, quality, and customer care cannot be matched! I absolutely HATE ants in the house (I mean who does?) but every time Orkin comes they solve the problem -- pesky ants don't give up. I'm very happy with the service I receive from Orkin - each visit handles the issues I am facing at that time. More so lately, especially when Susan Dickson became my technician. She's very kind, explains services/approaches well, and is super knowledgable/careful when performing her job. Susan consistently communicates well, always giving me ample heads up when she is on her way. I feel my house is in the best hands with Susan as our Orkin Technician. Is giving 0 stars an option? Susan was rude the second we greeted her. She didn't even introduce herself and immediately complained that she'd been there for 10 minutes - though she never knocked on the front door and also arrived early when we weren't yet prepared for the scheduled visit time. She couldn't answer any questions with anything other than attitude. I simply wanted to understand why she was trying to get us to sign a 1 year contract when she hadn't even come inside to observe what needed to be done nor even explain the process. The lack of professionalism was astounding. We chose not to utilize their service. Ask questions - it is your home! And proceed with caution if you chose to call Orkin. 10/10 would not recommend. read more

Orkin leaves black containers outside EMPTY but will keep charging monthly because California has banned the chemical, they were using so they leave the EMPTY boxes as a hotel or drive thru! according to their technician so the rats get used to the box & WHEN California says ok! they will put chemicals in them! , after 3 years of service, my brand-new Cadillac had $21,000 damage thanks to the rats that were left alone by ORKIN and once a 3-month service! and enjoyed all the electrical cables in the engine. I will see what can be done for it. I can do a better job with $10 a month with Home Depot chemicals. read more

I have used Orkin since 2000, and they were good for some special assignments. But my most recent experience with the company is very frustrating. We are dealing with flea infestation with our cats. I called Orkin and Orkin sent a sales rep to our house. I didn't realize that she was a sales person and NOT a technician. She explained Orkin can spray the interior of house once a week for 4 weeks. She indicated that we can quarantine the cats in 1 bedroom in the house, and Orkin would spray the remaining parts of house. And we can quarantine the cats in a different room for the next spray. Thus we did so for the scheduled 1st spray session. But the technician said the cats cannot be inside the house during the spray; he said cats can be in garage. So we rescheduled for another week. However, we were unable to corral our feral cats into our garage. So we rescheduled again. Yet again we were unable to corral the cats into garage. We know that we cannot control the cats. FYI, we were not ever successful in getting the cats to the vet, because feral cats are exceedingly skittish and fearful. I told Orkin I wanted to cancel the flea spray contract, and especially as the sales rep stated incorrect information. I asked to have a manager call me back. However, no manager has called me to discuss the situation. But Orkin constantly calls about making payment for services that never took place. As a long term customer who makes timely payments, I expected better customer service. I find this unacceptable and will cancel Orkin and go with a local service provider. read more

They showed up for a quote and ended up doing a $430 service call without even contacting me for my approval or to discuss what service they would provide. I thought this was a sales call, not a service call. And I had specifically asked for a quote for bait boxes and they brought and installed traps. They never even sealed up the holes where the rodents were making their nests. I was hoping to get quotes from at least two other vendors. Now I'm going to have to spend a few hours on the phone to sort out why they came for a service call instead of a sales call. Hoping it won't be a huge hassle and they will come pick up their traps. You should only hire these people if you want to ... 1) pay money and have people come and not service your house (for 12 months) 2) be charged even after you cancel 3) get radio silence from the office and branch manager when you reach out to try to fix the situation The behavior of these folks is not legal in that they are routinely violating service provision contracts and I would take action if I had the time and energy. We signed a contract for them to do work and they went AWOL. I am not sure if they even completed the work, but I have reached out to them for the last 3 days to get an update, because the house still smells of skunk, and I keep being told that I should hear back from the technician by end of day or the next business day. While waiting on line for the past 3 days I kept hearing: "We're not happy until you're happy." For added context, Orkin set traps to catch a skunk in the crawlspace for what was supposed to be 1 week. When they stopped replying, I called a local guy. That guy was able to diagnose over the phone that the skunk was likely dead. He came over and had it cleared within an hour. read more

Orkin charges me a princely sum for pest control every two months. They give you 2-hour windows and don't show up. When you call they say they'll come an hour after the window. If you value your time, don't waste it waiting for them. The least they can do is to give you a courtesy call that they are running way late. read more

By far the absolute worse customer experience I've had. 3x in 6 weeks they rescheduled without notice. On a Saturday I had a 10-12 appt and the tech was a no show. I called the help desk and the lady flat out lied and told me the tech was on the way and 5 min later another gentleman called and said they needed to reschedule because the techs truck was broken into. I had awful bites and suspected bed bugs -- the Orkin technician came to my home, inspected for bed bugs, allegedly found bed bugs, and then quoted me about $4,000 for heat treatment to eradicate the bed bugs. I was skeptical. I then hired Scent Tek (which uses trained dogs) and Scent Tek found ZERO bed bugs. Trained sniffer dogs are the gold standard for bed bug detection - even the Orkin guy was raving about them - because Orkin said that after I paid the $4K, Orkin would use their trained dogs to ensure that no bed bugs remained. If you are worried that you have bed bugs, please use Scent Tek. They only do inspections (no services), so they have no incentive to find a problem that doesn't exist. read more

My dad purchased a year of Orkin services for monthly check ups of rodents in his house that was in 2//2022. He passed away in 9/2022. Leaving 4 months of unclaimed service. I have spoken to Orkin general number and their office , with responses from it needs to be reviewed to you should get it within 4-6 weeks!! Well it's been OVER 3 months and STILL NO ChECK. The amount was 286Ish dollars. The manager of this branch, RAFAEL CABRERA has not reached out to me via email or phone. Was the most disgusting thing Ive ever experienced immediately after paying a bunch of money for Orkin to not do their job. This company is a joke, save your money, time and sanity and get someone who knows what they're doing and actually shows up at your place as agreed or returns calls/emails/SMSes. So many things went wrong here that I'd rate them zero stars if possible: - we had a rodent issue and Orkin technician (Jay S.), after charging us $440, placed only *two* traps, on a 7500sqft property and 2000sqft house - they said they currently didn't have any additional traps. That alone tells you how well prepared they are to deal with your issues - they left some areas with very obvious rodent activity (droppings every day) with no traps at all - they tried to patch some rodent holes with steel wire, which was done so ridiculously sloppy that a day after they just dug another hole an inch from it. I had to buy supplies and do it myself properly after they left, spending additional $50 on chicken wire, steel wool, caulk, pea pebbles etc. - they had absolutely no mitigation plan other than "lets leave some (2) traps and see how it goes in a couple of weeks". - they said they'd be back with more traps three days later, but they never showed up. I ordered the same type of traps from Amazon and even that arrived before their technician (who still didn't show up btw, four days later) - they didn't respond to SMSes asking them about arrival - complained about all of this to their feedback/service email - no response. - called customer service about getting a full refund (which is listed as an option within three days of signing the contract) - still no response. Customer service is useless in doing anything and they tell you you will get a call from a service representative which never calls (at this point I've been calling them three days in a row and still didn't get a call back...). - they didn't seal all entry points (not even bother to identify them) - had to hire another contractor to actually fix the problems they left Update: three weeks later after the manager (Paul) promised the full refund (also guaranteed by the contract if you complain within three business days which I did), I still haven't received the refund. Reported the transaction to my credit card company as fraud. read more

In December 2021, I had a mouse problem in my home. I called Orkin. It was an expensive mistake. For $325 a worker came to my home and placed 14 snap traps, the ones that cost $0.50 each. That's it. I was told to dispose of the mice as they were caught. Well, I'm terrified of mice which is why I called Orkin in the first place. I was told to unblock the holes in the walls that I had blocked. This, however, created a worse problem. I am thankful to friends who helped remove the dead mice and re-block the entry points into my home. Orkin did not help with identifying and addressing the source of entry into my home. Orkin advertises that they use proper PPE to protect their employees and clients. The worker who came to my home wore a mask that he kept below his nose because it steamed his glasses. I gave him a surgical mask. He continued to wear it below his nose. When I asked if he was vaccinated, I was told no and that it was his choice. Ok, it is your choice, but in my house regardless of vaccination status, you wear a mask. Orkin was nice enough to give me a new rep who visited once and looked at the empty snap traps. read more

I scheduled a series of visits with Orkin. On the first call when I scheduled I was told the first visit and inspection would be $240. Then I would be charged $60/mo for visits every other month. I provided my credit card information but said my landlord was paying so I needed the contract or pricing in writing. I was told I would get it within the hour. This never happened. I've emailed the company 5 times this week to get the pricing and I've called two additional times. No emails have ever been responded to. The phone operators have all told me they will get me pricing. It still hasn't happened. Seems like I'm going to get scammed. Poor customer service. Branch manager won't respond to emails or calls. Neither will the branch. If this is the customer service I receive prior to showing up I don't want your service. read more

They were onsite 15mins. 15 min to treat a 4 bedroom 3 bath home, I was very skeptical but I had a month to determine the veracity of the treatment. Sure enough a week later I had ants and crickets in the garage. I tried to get someone out on the 30 day Guarantee and all I get were excuses. Finally I went with another company. After paying the initial 224 dollars a guy came in and walked around the house sprayed something and then said he sprayed something near the windows and said the substance would attract the flies and kill them. Guess what the flies weren't attracted to that special substance or killed. Instead they multiplied. I called them in two days no one answered because I chose the existing customer option. Then I called as a new customer and Ofcourse someone answered . Then they argued with me stating that the flies would die in a week. Guess what five days later the flies are buzzing and I finally got an electric squatter and killed them. And now they won't refund my money which I am asking for. Don't ever use them. Never ! On hold with main number 4 times over 30 minutes each call no resolution to issue I needed fixed only one guy apparently can help nobody else can! Fadl came two hours earlier than expected on a Saturday morning and was in and out within 30 minutes (fully masked) totally taking care of our spider nest. He was kind and funny with my roommates and gave us the full rundown of what he was doing and why as he took care of our problem. The respect and appreciation Fadl has for the critters he works with is so apparent he even happily pointed out grasshoppers hanging outside the front door as we got our aftercare instructions before he was pulled away to save someone else from a mouse in their shoe. Really dishonest business. Never showed up when service was scheduled and would come by when no one was home to put service slip at the house. Repeat asks with billing for proof of work and all they would send was the service order. Never again. My review is for wonderful Alli at Burlingame Orkin. We have ant issues every year that I usually manage with home bait products. For some reason the home baits didn't work this time. Alli came and took care of the problem, and has been on top of the situation ever since. She responds promptly, is very organized, and is a funny and kind person on top of that! She was so careful making the treatment plan to work around our puppy. And she is still so understanding and kind now that the puppy has grown into a barking crazy maniac when she comes over.
