My wife and I had a first visit for lunch today at Orlando's in Madisonville. We had the fried shrimp and catfish all-can-eat special and it was pretty good. The accompanying iced tea was also good and the service was friendly and welcoming. Our iced tea glasses were never allowed to be empty! The location is an older one with strong rural flavor and the decor pretty much shouts small town southern Louisiana. If you're looking for fancy you might be disappointed, but if you're looking for copious amounts of stick-to-your-ribs Louisiana food at reasonable prices you will enjoy Orlando's. read more

This a smaller place with 14 tables and a bar area with a few tables. The restaurant is appropriately decorated with hunting and fishing decorations making it quite cozy and comfortable. I wanted to order gumbo but they were out. My server, she was by herself today, jokingly said they were out of everything. Besides no gumbo, they were out of potato salad, lemonade and some other stuff. So I went with the All You Can Eat Shrimp and Catfish for $14.95 from the specials board. She brought out a large plate heaping with fried shrimp and catfish on top of fries with a slice of French bread. I didn't think I would be able to eat it all let alone get more, but I managed to eat all the shrimp and catfish by avoiding the fries all together. Orlando's is one of my parents' FAVORITE seafood places in Madisonville, so when I was in town for Thanksgiving this year, we opted to go on the Friday night before. It wasn't too busy, but I've always had positive experiences. Since cutting gluten for medical reasons, I'm hesitant to go anywhere I don't exactly trust because I'll get VERY sick. I checked the menu and opted to come back since they could prepare my food as needed. (For reference, last time I was here was 2019, when I could have gluten galore and not feel an ounce of regret.) I informed the waiter of my intolerance/food allergy, and he confirmed the fries are in a shared fryer with other items coated in flour. Instead, I opted for the new potatoes as the side for my broiled shrimp. I had the house salad with ranch and requested no croutons (I wasn't sure if they came or not, and I couldn't risk it). All of our salads were quite tasty. I'm knocking off a star strictly because I explained everything, and my platter was served with bread on the plate. It could have been an honest overlook of the menu on my end, so I'm not going to harp on it. (I can't simply move bread because the crumbs or slightest bit of gross-contamination will make me sick with a migraine and stomach issues for several hours.) Besides that one issue, all of our food was excellent and served fresh. They immediately begin preparing once your order is placed, and it's brought out within minutes. I would absolutely return here, but next time, I know I need to better explain things to the server when it comes to toast. read more

Wonderful staff! Food is consistently delicious whether you get something boiled, fried, grilled and/or broiled! Casual atmosphere.

The hot boiled crawfish were near perfect! Also tried the "easy peel" boiled shrimp and those were also well worth the money. The boiled potatoes were perfectly cooked. My one complaint is the complete lack of Covid compliance. Sorry, but I'd rather spend my money at a business that chooses to do their part in getting back to normal. Disappointed. read more

I've been to NOLA several times...always have to get some crawfish and oysters! Last February when I went back, we went to Orlando's and omg they had the biggest crawfish I've ever seen. They were sooooo good and meaty! Messy and delicious but is there any other ways to do it! And the oysters....char-broiled...yum! Everything was so fresh and amazing. And very reasonably priced, we were surprised at how expensive it was. It was so good that we went back a second time during our trip! read more

Unfortunately my son and I stopped by Orlando's for lunch today. We ordered a whole fried flounder and a shrimp platter. We couldn't even eat the shrimp there was so much garlic in the batter. Am I poor flounder died in vain because they overcooked it to where it was literally hard. The chef here has absolutely no idea what he's doing he needs to go cut grass or something. If they would just take the guy next-door that Boyle Seafood and does it incredibly well and use him to supply the cooking for the restaurant then they might actually have a chance. read more

Went here on a work lunch. Staff is super friendly and lots of locals here. The food has to be good, right? Yes, of course it is! We had a variety of food and it was all good. The food was not cheap for a quick lunch (10-15) for a nice meal, but it is also fresh food and lots of meat. I would be back again if I am ever in the area! read more

I don't even know where to begin... I was a huge fan of this place and enjoyed the service and good quality food. Today we decided to stop in and grab a quick bite before this hurricane took effect. We got in and sat down. We were the only customers there. Waitress was pretty friendly and we got our food very quickly. My fiancé got his seafood platter and the catfish and oysters tasted fishy. The waitress proceeded to get the owner. Once the owner came out she was immediately rude and said "WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT?" in a rude tone. I explained to her that it tasted fishy and something seemed off. She proceeded with "well, it is fish". Really?... I had NO idea. Her rude and condescending tone immediately rubbed me the wrong way. I asked if she was the owner and if she treated all customers this way and she just blankly stared at us. I didn't want anymore confrontation so we asked for the check and didn't even get to eat. To make a long story short... she was extremely rude and not nice. We easily had a $100 bill coming and at least gave them service when they clearly had none. My first and last visit to Orlando's was severely disappointing. I tried to order the roast beef poboy but was told they didn't have roast beef. So l decided to order a cheese burger poboy. What I got was a cheese burger on a bun. The waitress said the cook read my order wrong and refused to cook what I actually ordered because they were fixin to close. I got there at 7:25 and they didn't close till 9:00pm. Then the waitress brings my check. They had pre added 18% gratuity to it without giving me a choice and then left the tip area blank as if I was going to give them more. No comp on my meal. No discount for their mistake. I have never in my life been to a restaurant that got my order wrong and they refused to fix it. The worst! read more

I was a participant in a field trip to Madisonville, La. on Tuesday, December 11th, 2018. We had lunch at this restaurant. We had close to 35 people on the trip. The service was excellent. The staff was courteous and friendly. Our orders were taken in a short period of time and our food was delivered to our table very quickly. The food was good and the portions were generous. It would be well worth it to take a visit to Madisonville and stop by Orlando's. Our group was from Gretna, La. and we visited the Maritime Museum. Oh by the way, they have daily specials for lunch and the gumbo and crawfish bisque all by themselves would be well worth a return trip for me. read more

I have eaten here twice in the past two months. Great food, great service, decent prices. On my last visit I had the catfish platter. The fish was served fried perfectly. I chose the side salad and the mixed vegetables as my side. Both were excellent. My last visit was on a Friday during Lent. A large crowd was expected. When we walked in, we were greeted immediately by the hostess and seated withing one minute, even though the place was packed. Our waitress was with us in a matter of minutes for our beverage order and returned promptly with them. From the time we place our order till the time we received our food was about ten minutes. Our party of four was very pleased with the food and the service. Our glasses of tea were never empty. Whatever condiments that we requested, were brought to us right away. If you are looking for good seafood and great service, give Orlando's a try. read more

The shrimp salad was awful... the shrimp were tasteless and was told they were delivered fresh every day. I disagree totally. The shrimp were NOT fresh. Tasted frozen and all batter which was not good.. I was offered other food, but was disappointed with what I ate so I didn't want anything else from them. If you are looking for 100% real food - genuine, authentic, delicious, generous local seafood with a traditional Louisiana flair, look no further. We came in again, with friends visiting from out of state to show off our local fare. First of all - if you can find your way to Orlando's on a Thursday evening, when a small but welcoming group of legitimate local pickers is known to come and sit in for a blue grass jam session - do it. You simply cannot buy tickets to such a warm, genuine experience. You must, simply show up. Sing along, if you'd like :) I highly recommend the seafood bisque. It is, by far, the best that I have ever tasted. Calamari - Catfish - Shrimp... you name it - so much food...so generous both in quantity and quality. Plus happy, friendly service from actual family - not grumpy minimum wage servers - So you feel like family too. Relax - take a load off, and enjoy. Not fancy at all but if you just want fresh seafood perfectly prepared, this is the place to go. Expect down home prepared to perfection seafood local caught and about as fresh as it gets. Love, love this place! The service is incredible. Everyone is so social, warm, and inviting. The food is great and the portions are large. I had the Crawfish Bisque and it was delicious! It was the soup of the day. I hope they will make it apart of the regular menu soon. It's really good. We also had fried catfish platters. We could've shared one. So much leftover. Heck, even the side salads were filling! And the prices are very reasonable. They also have boiled seafood. Crabs, Crawfish, etc. it's all seasonal, of course. On a previous visit, I tried the gumbo. We were there for lunch and the all-you-can-eat shrimp and catfish special was tasty and lightly breaded with a cornmeal coating. It was cheaper than several other options on the full menu. There was so much on the plate, there was no need to ask for more. We actually needed a to-go box. The stuffed mushrooms were huge and had a rich sauce on them. Friendly service. I returned. I decided gumbo wasn't enough so I tried the seafood pasta too. Outstanding. This was also the first white chocolate bread pudding that I had where you can really taste the white chocolate. If this was my first time eating there, it would definitely be a 5 star review. I can't bring myself to do that unless I try the fried seafood again one day, and it tastes much better than last time. Unfortunately I didn't get to try any of the food as I sat at the bar and was ignored. The bar tables were pushed together for a large party and had about 15/20 dirty dishes all over it. The bar top was cluttered and had a dirty rag sitting on top right where I was seated. A girl with arm tattoos came behind the bar and never even acknowledged I was there. Two male patrons separately came up to the bar after me and she acknowledged them and still continued to ignore me. I ended up leaving and going somewhere else. This is an old mom-and-pop seafood restaurant that specializes in fried foods. I had the "1/2 and 1/2 platter" with catfish and shrimp, which, of course means fried catfish, fried shrimp, and french fries. It also came with a green salad, and I chose the house dressing which is a delicious homemade creole tomato. I also had to try the gumbo since I love gumbo and eat as much of it as I can whenever I visit Louisiana. I'd say the high point was the salad dressing, which is too bad. The shrimp and catfish weren't anything special, and the gumbo was only mid-grade. My wife got a dozen fresh oysters and a bowl of the soup of the day, which was a corn and crawfish bisque. The bisque was very rich and she liked her meal, though the oysters weren't shucked all that well. The dinner entrees seems overpriced for the ambiance and quality of food. If I went back, I think I'd get a po boy or muffaletta instead. Prices for those were much more reasonable, and they looked really good. read more

It was good. The fried items has a light cornmeal batter that wasn't heavy or greasy and the portions were big. The seafood platters are large and could easily feed two adults with a cup of soup or salad. Going by the reviews, I think i was expecting a slightly different look. It's a simply family restaurant off the beaten path with a friendly staff. Very casual atmosphere. We had a big group which they accommodated well.
