We cannot rave enough about OroPro.  Our condo building had two partially blocked sewer lines. Jon, the owner, met us at our home, examined the two issues, inspected prior unsuccessful work, suggested solutions, and offered ways to minimize costs and any inconvenience to us during the project.  His proposal was emailed in a timely fashion and clearly laid out the work to be done, the costs involved, and fully explained the City code requirements.  We found his price to be competitive.  He answered our follow-up questions and concerns thoroughly. Once OroPro received our signed proposal, they immediately sprung into action to get us on their work schedule at our convenience, and obtained the necessary permits to do the job.  When the City threw a monkey wrench into the project - requiring the additional expense of hiring a surveyor and delaying the project for several weeks - OroPro worked with the City to find a work-around that satisfied the City inspectors and would not delay the project, which resulted in a significant cost savings. OroPro began and completed the job on schedule. They were a pleasure to work with. Their work crew, led by Blad, was excellent, courteous and professional. They cleaned up the work site and made it safe and secure at the end of every day.  Their office team, led by Shannon, was also excellent, always available to answer questions, get information, and reach the crew. They reached out to us as necessary.  Each day we received a text informing us that Blad and his team were on their way.  The crew showed us regularly the plumbing problems we had and the repair work they did to correct it.  Jon should take pride in the field crews and office team that he has assembled. At the end of the project OroPro sent us a detailed invoice describing the work that was completed each day.  The cost of the project came in on budget.  Without hesitation, we were happy with our decision to work with Oropro, and we plan to hire them again for any future plumbing needs. We have a Navian in-line water heater that has a recirculation issue, which is either the check valve or the recirc pump. They claimed they were factory trained, but gave us a bid for $750 to do a flush and diagnosis and then would give us a quote for any other work. They did not give me a bid for what I requested. Then charged me $70 for coming out, and not giving me a bid for what I wanted...useless. They DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING WITH A NAVIAN. read more

We had a clogged sewer line that suddenly appeared. We had one plumber tell us us would cost $8,000 to repair the damage (and his diagnosis for the problem was completely incorrect). I called Oro Pro and they came to the house and we chose them for the repair. They found the culprit (a large flapper had become dislodged and was stuck in the line) and they repaired the damage. Joe and Joshua were on time, very efficient and kept us aware of the progress of the repair. These guys were super professional and they insisted on a complete cleanup after the job was done. Total repair was $5,000 and it was well worth the cost considering the great service and correct diagnosis of the problem. read more

This outfit should be called "Incompetent Rip off Pro". Charged $490 for a drip shower cartridge change. The hot water doesn't come on. Asked them to fix it, they said there is no warranty on their work. What? They made the situation worse than before and they won't fix it. They wanted to charge again to come out...but said no guarantee they can fix it. I watched Youtube, it is simply dialing the little plastic restrictor. Wow, they are supposed to be plumbing experts and couldn't even tell me if they can fix it. Instead of making customer happy for repeat business and word of mouth promotion, the manager is a one-and-done used car salesman. I had an excellent handiman I used for 10 years, unforunately he moved away, he had so much business from me promoting him to all my neighbors thru our neighborhood email group practically work full time just in our neighborhood. Was about 1 month before they were able to return and fix it for real. Blaming their supplier the unavailable part. I was very happy with the service of Chris Bautista. He did an annual maintenance on our water heater and replaced a corroded gas line to our range. Both were done quickly, neatly, and well (we have hot water and gas on our range). At the end, the furnace was not getting gas. Chris tried to fix this, including a trip to our attic, but it is out of his expertise. The office did give me a discount to pay part of having to call an HVAC person. read more

Firstly the apparent owner quoted me 165 to have someone dispatched for a sump pump issue in our garage that would include diagnosing the issue before going forward. Fairly standard with home services including plumbing. Upon draining the excess water required to access the pump the technician onsite said it's 500-750 to diagnose the pump per the business owner. I said that's not what I was told and why wouldn't you say that at outset. I of course said that's outrageous cause I've had this work done before so if that's what it is forget it. Suddenly I get a call after they leave from what I presume is the owner. This is where 1 star goes to 0. We argued a bit but it became pointless as clearly he had a different view that he would decide on diagnostics upon arrival so I just said no point talking further. Then he used vulgar language and called me a fucking faggot amongst other choice words. I was shocked to hear not only a business would use this language but the owner themselves. read more

I had a poor experience with this plumbing company. I called them to diagnose an issue with my Navien tankless water heater. They quoted me a range of $220 to $650 for the diagnostic, which seemed fair depending on the complexity or time spent. Unfortunately, that was where the fairness ended. The plumber arrived and spent most of the diagnostic time on the phone with Navien's technical support--over an hour, as they don't deal directly with customers. To my shock, they charged me $620 for this! When I asked to speak with the owner, he simply said they quoted a range, and since the plumber spent 1 hour 30 mins, the charge would be $650, though he "generously" reduced it by $30. The plumber was at the house for 15 mins more since we were waiting to talk to the owner. The owner justified the price by claiming it was for specialized Navien knowledge. But if they truly had specialized knowledge, why did they need to rely on tech support to diagnose the issue? I requested a cost breakdown, and they couldn't provide any details. Given that typical plumbers charge around $175-$225 per hour, this was ridiculously overpriced, especially since they didn't even fix the issue! With their outrageous prices and complete lack of transparency, I absolutely would not recommend hiring them. Save your time and money, and look elsewhere. read more

Oro Pro Plumbing - Ominous water bubble that was dripping over our toilet - Plumbing Near Me - Redwood City, California

A few weeks ago, I tried unscrewing an old garden hose from my front yard faucet, only to have a pretty fast-flowing leak emerge from underground. California Water Service (CalWater), the regional utility, was able to quickly come over and temporarily bypass the water from the street meter to my house via the water hose faucet. The CalWater guy told me I could keep the temporary hose for a couple weeks, and to take my time in finding a good plumber. I set about looking through both Thumbtack and Yelp to find several and get quotes. The worst quote was from a guy who showed up with his partner & told me it'd take at least a couple weeks to get the work done while he charged me $280/hr for the privilege. No thanks! The best, obviously, was Oro Pro! Though they did charge me a nominal fee to come out and do the estimate, they also had the fairest price with the best plan and timetable. They had the ground dug up and the new pipe installed in LESS than two days! :-D What took the most time, however (& naturally!) was for the city/county to come out and approve the work. Immediately afterward, however, Oro Pro finished up quickly & professionally. A *huge* shout-out to the entire crew for their immensely professional work and for keeping me updated in real-time on their progress! I'm going to use Oro Pro from here on out for all my plumbing needs. read more

We had a gas leak emergency late in the day. The company was able to schedule a plumber the next morning. I had a great experience working with Chris, who gave good explanation of the investigation and list of options. What impressed me the most, is that Chris was willing to work with me and try an alternative option I preferred, and it worked out. Beware their pricing. After paying the $240 first visit fee, I was given an estimate for $1200 to fix a leaky tub drain. I asked for them to break down the $1200 amount - how long to fix, how much for parts. The technician (very nice, BTW) said they don't do that. Got on the phone with the manager and he told me they "don't do business that way." He promised to get back to me with at least a list of the parts they were going to put in. Never did. I've never worked with a contractor (electrical, plumbing, tiling. etc.) that didn't show me how much the materials cost (usually they give you the receipt). Makes me feel they have something to hide and are taking advantage. read more

I had an emergency in my master bath faucet where the valve broke and it would not turn off. I called Oro Pro and they sent out a repair person the first thing in the morning. They charge a fee to show up at your property, which I agreed to. They looked at the project and it required unscrewing the old valve and replacing it with a new one. They quoted me ~$1200 to install some additional shut off valves that would help "ease maintenance" so you wouldn't need to turn off the main water to do this repair in addition to $250 for the actual valve replacement. I turned down the project to install the valves because it was just ridiculous and completely unnecessary. Turning off the main water takes like 5 seconds. The plumber confirmed that they will be attempting repair of the valve only and I agreed to $250 quote. About 30 minutes later I get a call from their main office telling me that they want to increase the price of the project to $300. I almost fell off my chair. Apparently, since I turned down the larger project that was completely unnecessary they now feel uncomfortable doing the valve repair for $250 and they want to charge me $300. I told them that we already agreed on the project price and this is both bad business and frankly illegal in CA to raise the price AFTER the quote is already provided. I told them that they are taking advantage of me since I have an emergency and that this is bad business. I agreed to pay $300. I was away for the actual repair and my wife was home. When I get home, I realize the tech has already left. They did not have the right part on hand and had to work with their warehouse to find the valve. The tech demanded the check and took the money though. (This was a big mistake on my part.) I was expecting a followup since they knew this was an emergency. Later in the day, I call the main office to check the status. They said that it was too late and the warehouse was closed ‍ I had a planned vacation after this, so I was out of town for a few weeks. I had to shut off water to the house and leave it. While I was out, there were no followups, no calls. I called again after I got back. The status was the same. "We need to followup with the warehouse". I guess since they took the money there was no need to do anything at this point. The job was done as far as they were concerned. Before going on vacation, I went online and bought the valve. It was $20. I am not a plumber by a long shot, but I found this exact compatible valve in about 15 minutes of research. I just had to measure the diameter of my current valve to make sure it matched. It was delivered in two days and when I got home from vacation it took me exactly 2 minutes to unscrew the old one and put the new one in. There goes a lesson. Do not use these guys for your work. read more

If your job is complex, they have the tendency to slowly keep increasing the scope of the job and keep quoting higher prices till you accept their high prices or lose the money that you already spent. My house had an issue with a gas leak. They quoted me as follows: 1) $69 to come visit the house 2) $350 to detect the leak. It was already known through PGE that there was a leak, but they said that for $350 we will arrive and detect where the leaks are. That sounds fair so far! 3) Now, after detecting the leaks, they quoted me a price of $2900 to fix the leaks. After ORO technicians left, other services visited the place for free, checked the damage and quoted a price way less get the complete job done. So naturally I am going to use the other service to complete the job. So at this point, I pretty much lose the $350 that I paid. Overall, the service was good -- they were punctual and did the detection job (which was sort of already known that there is a leak). But I feel there is a gray area that they manipulated to extract more money out of me. BEWARE OF THIS SUBTLE MANIPULATION! Is it the COVID situation that makes you exploit people like this, @Jonathan? We had a conflict about this and it is likely that the owner will present his strawman argument in the response. read more

On the upside, Enrique was very professional and pleasant. He was quite thorough. On the downside, the head of the snake that was used to snake the pipes broke off, causing a bigger problem a few days later. And to top it off, Oro Pro charged ME extra for the cost of the head of the snake!! Fortunately a few days later I called another company which was able to solve the core problem and fish out the snake head that was stuck in the pipes. Oh and they charged 1/3 of what Oro Pro charged. Again, no insult to Enrique as he was quite good. But, after hearing how shocked the competitor was that Oro Pro charged me extra for the snakehead, I felt like a sucker, and realized that Oro Pro's equipment may have been faulty (no evident reason that it should have broken off) and made a questionable choice in charging me extra for the part that cracked off their equipment. read more
