My fiancé and I walked into Ortho Mattress last Saturday afternoon, enjoyed flopping down on multiple mattresses and trying out as many as we wanted to. We had a great experience overall. We didn't feel any sort of pressure or annoying sales pitches; on the contrary, the two staff people there were a good balance of being helpful and giving us space. Malena was sweet, knowledgeable, helpful and kind. She did what she could to find a financing plan that worked for us in order to purchase the bed of our dreams. We also got in on a Presidents' Day sale, which allowed us to get the frame and protective cover for free! The financing plan offered was a great and affordable one, and the staff was very helpful in walking us through the whole process and answering all of our questions. Don't EVER think you have ANY Warranty on any mattress purchased with this company. They will sell you a pillow top with a 25 year warranty. BUT the mattress will dip below the pillow top, you can't measure it, and they will dissuade you or disqualify you from a warranty claim. I will update this upon final resolution. I first visited Ortho Mattress when my boyfriends friend and girlfriend moved here to help get them a bed. Mark, the man who helped us, was absolutely phenomenal. He provided them with all the help they needed to make the best decision possible. He was super friendly and actually made shopping for a mattress fun. I recently purchased a new bed from Ortho Mattress and had really great customer service from Mark McFarland. Upon arrival, Mark greeted my mother and I, and asked how he could help us, what we were looking for, etc. I explained what I had in mind and he took us through the store to show us the different beds in the style that I was searching for at different price points. This was my first time purchasing a bed and Mark made it really easy. He didn't push me to purchase a bed beyond my means and he helped me to understand what I was paying for, what materials the beds are made of, and my options regarding frames and mattress protectors. Ortho Mattress also offers a really great warranty and a 100 day sleep trial period which were both really reassuring. Just bought 2 beds, a bedframe & some mattress covers from Justin (who was "on loan" from another store). We told him we were shopping for a new bed for us (after our 2 y/o Tempurpedic mattress started breaking down), as well as a bedframe & bed for our granny flat in our backyard. We also explained how the support slats on our existing bedframe keep falling apart & the bed constantly feels like it's going to fall thru the frame to the floor. He showed us one frame with ginormous support beams that were rated to hold 5000 lbs. Then also showed us one of those frames that raises & lowers at either end of the bed. My wife's been wanting one of those for years, but it was always a little too pricey for us. We asked if they offered any financing options & they have probably the best financing options of anyone we've financed purchases thru (we recently finished remodeling our house & have financed 3 different portions of our project). We have good credit, so we were able to get 5 years w/ 0% interest. We bought everything we wanted, including the frame that raises/lowers for just under $7K, but have 5 years to pay off w/ no interest... paying off in 5 years will be no problem! James was outstanding to deal with from the moment we first spoke on the phone. I had been looking on-line for a Wesley Allen iron bed and decided to find a local store who was a distributor. I wanted to see one of these beds and their finishes in real life. Very bad business !!! Stopped by the LaMesa location .. The open sign was lite up.. Business hours ..says open till 8:00 p.m. I went to open the door at 5:00..and the door was locked . No one in site ..waited about 10 minutes.. Still no one in the store .. Called the phone number ...the phone rolled to another location .. The person answered the phone said ..sorry ..he must have stepped away ???? I left ..drove away Really .. no signs that said ...be right back ..nothing .. I asked if he could please give my name to the owner...manager ..he said he would .. 5 minutes later ..Ben called me .. He is the person working the LaMesa store . Said he stepped away ... I asked for a supervisor or manager.. He said they did not have one .. No one I could talk to ..!!! Really ??? Does anyone have a phone number I can call ?? VERY VERY BAD BUSINESS!! I went to ortho a few weeks ago and was welcomed by Mark. My wife and I were having back pains and wanted to get a softer mattress. Mark showed us the different mattresses and did not try to sell us the most expensive mattress and was very patient with us. Mark also stated that we could exchange the mattress once at no extra cost. This is the reason we bought the mattress here because other stores went to would not let us exchange the mattress if we were not satisfied or would charge is a fee. Mark was also able to get the mattresses to my house earlier in the day. The delivery drivers were fast and also set up the old mattress in another room. Unfortunately the mattress was not as comfortable as me and my wife thought it would be. We returned to Ortho and were welcomed by Alex. We got a firmer mattress and were not charged a percentage or a delivery fee. Just like Mark had said, no hassle to exchange the mattress. Alex was also patient and friendly. The same delivery guys came and swapped the mattresses in less than five minutes. We are very satisfied with our mattress and the customer service at ortho. read more

Mark was unbelievably helpful. We recently came in looking for to upgrade outlet twin bed to a little more spacious of a bed (king bed). We came in with a specific budget. Unlike other stores Mark brought us right to beds that were in our price range. After selecting the bed and getting it delivered in a very reasonable 3 days. We just couldn't stand the bed. Being used to a VERY plush bed we both decided we wanted a better bed. We asked Mark if there was anyway of returning the bed under the 30 nights because our backs hurt and we weren't getting good sleep. He submitted it to his regional manager and she said we could do it at 14 days. On the 14th day we went in and picked out the new bed. Thinking it would take a couple of days again, to our surprise Mark asked if we would like it delivered THE NEXT DAY! I had the pleasure of working with Bruce Valk in purchasing two new mattresses for my home. At first I only wanted a new bed set for my guest room, but I knew that I was going to have to purchase a new set for my own use sometime in the near future. Bruce was a delight to work with and my husband and I actually wound up spending more time in the store than we intended because we were having fun! There was absolutely no pressure to purchase anything. Actually, the beds sell themselves. Bruce gave us all the information we wanted and didn't annoy us with any prepared spiels about "..if you like this one, then let me show you this other one". He simply made a few recommendations and gave us a great deal of information that helped us to decide to enjoy the comfort of a new mattress sooner rather than later. He asked a few questions about our sleep patterns that helped us make up our mind. We wound up purchasing a mattress with a latex top because it stays cool all through the night - a nice feature for living in San Diego! If you are looking to purchase a great quality mattress at a really good price with the best "salesman" I have ever encountered, by all means go to the Ortho store on Jackson Drive when Bruce Valk is working. We wound up listening to opera on his Bose stereo and cranked it up loud as if our parents weren't home! As I said, it was actually fun. He let us walk around the store without any pressure and helped us find the exact mattress we wanted without any hassle. Buyer beware!! My experience with this company overall was VERY disappointing. First of all one of the salesmen thought he was doing ME a favor by selling floor models. I was berated for using an online coupon on an item that was not on sale or discounted. I spent well over $2000, so I deserve the favor of having brackets installed which was part of my order. I have yet to receive them. So if you enjoy spending your savings account on floor models, receiving damaged items, having holes knocked in your walls by the delivery department go to ORTHO in La Mesa. After reading other reviews my 10 year warranty on my beds and adjustable frame will be honored or I will contact the BBB. Horrible experience! read more
