I'm an out of town traveler and this restaurant was recommended to me by a local business owner. I LOVED it! I arrive late with a colleague - after 8pm and the hostess was as cute, nice and accommodating as can be. She sat us at a hibachi grill table even though there were only 2 of us. Eric was fantastic as our hibachi chef - fun, exciting and great all around. we both really enjoyed our experience with Eric and would ask for him again (and will). The sushi was GREAT and the seafood dinners we got for the hibachi grill: shrimp, scallops and lobster - were fresh and prepared perfect. I heard that this restaurant struggled upon opening, but when I went last night I did not find anything but quality. Great food and prompt engaging service. My husband and I love to eat at Osaka! Whenever we go there the service is terrific. Now that it is summertime, we love to sit outside. I'm not sure why some of the other people are so disappointed with their sushi. My husband and I love to travel around and eat at many different sushi restaurants. In comparison to many of the restaurants we have been to, their sushi is very fresh and well cut. Two of our favorites are the white tuna and the spicy salmon. Also, their lunch portions are a great deal! You get a good amount of food for the price. (My personal favorite is the lunch box.) We also love the atmosphere of the restaurant. It is very well laid out and has tasteful decorations. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. We plan on taking our families to this restaurant for both our birthdays. read more

I went to try out this new sushi/hibachi place on 28th. They are doing a half off everything deal for their opening week. I understand that the food is half off but wow....i cant believe I spent any money on that food. I had their sushi, 2 special rolls and 2 classic rolls. All their rolls just taste like straight up mayo. I'm little picky on types of beef meats esp in my shabu shabu. First and foremost, you've got to start with the quality of the meat. If that's wrong, if they cut it too thick or too thin, if it's grainy or gristly. The meats that I had was too thin. My waiter didn't even give me extra chopstick or any tongs to grab the raw meats/seafood. I had to use my own chopstick, which I do not like!!! After half way done with our shabu shabu, we finally got our sushi.. my boyfriend wasn't happy with the presentation. We thought waiting for 40 minutes for sushi, the presentation would be breathtaking? Not!! My waiter was friendly yet nervous, but he did forgot to give us soy sauce bottle and two small plates for dipping the sushi. Back to sushi presentation, the sauces smeared all over the rolls it looks awful!!! This is the worst place I ever been to, I just took my son went over there ask to sit at the hibachi table and the waiter told me that we can't seat there because only one of us ordering hibachi so I left. I been to so many hibachi places before and this is the first place that ever tell me that we can't seat at the table, my son enjoy watching the show that's part of the hibachi. I wouldn't rate one star if they allow me to cause they don't even deserve that because of the way they treated their customers. I'm happily spend my money somewhere else. We are at Shanghai Ichiban Chinese & Japanese Restaurant and they let us seat at the hibachi table without any questions. If you want to eat hibachi choose shanghai Ichiban. After reading all the negative comments on here, I decided to check this place out for myself. I am proud to say I am a regular customer here at Osaka. Every morning I'm polietly greeted by the hostess. A sweet girl with black hair and a friendly smile. She explains the different sections of dining to me and they all sound facinating. I've tried everything. The Sushi, Hibachi and the shabu. Even though I'm not a fan of sushi the chef was still able to make something that I enjoyed. it was tasty and beautifully displayed. the hibachi was next the show was great. I got a delicious meal complete with fried rice, new york steak, noodle, vegetables, soup and salad. and an amazing chef who serenaded us every second he was cooking. thats right im talking about you james. or should i say mr.Gangnam style. lol. The Shabu is by far my favorite, if you've never tried it before i recommend that you come at least give it a try.. all the food was nicely displayed and tasted absolutely delicious. I was very happy with the wait staff, very polite and sociable. Even the hostess came to our table to check on us every once in a while. And the sushi chef would come from the bar to see how we liked our food. The whole staff was very hospitable. I am ALWAYS VERY pleased with my visits here, I will continue to be a regular customer here. And I suggest you come give it a try before you take all these negative comments to heart. you have to take into concideration. Grand Opening week is very busy, and with a limited amount of staff for that many people of course there are going to be problems. This was one of the worst restaurants I've ever been to. Got there and the service was instantly shitty. The waiter was rude and not attentive. Didn't even offer us a drink menu and looked at me rudely when i asked about certain items on the menu. I inquired about the hibachi and he said he wouldn't serve it to me unless I had two or more people in my party which I did have. When my Tiffany roll arrived, it was one of the most mediocre sushi rolls I've ever eaten. So bland and flavorless. I think ive had better meals in jail. To make matters even worse, their miso soup was served hot in plastic!!! To top it all off, I went out on the porch at the end of my meal to wait for my ride. I was locked out on the porch!!! I knocked on the door and nobody let me back in so I had to climb the fence to escape this shitty place. My advice: avoid this spot at all costs. I had dinner here. I had the hibachi shrimp. It came with noodles (good), fried rice (just ok), and onion soup (just ok). The shrimp was barely luke warm when my waiter dropped the plate at my table and disappeared for 15 minutes. When he returned he seemed put off when I told him the shrimp was not hot. He asked if I wanted it "more well done." I said I just wanted it hot enough to eat. He took it away and said he would microwave it. The shrimp was rubbery after that. But I just ate it. My gosh! What an incredible experience, the night started off fabulous, our waiter was awesome and the chef was fun and great. It was my sisters birthday and he family from London ENGLAND flew in, as a treat we took them here. It was my first experience, but I've been to more popular places ( I would recommend Kobe) anyways at the end of the evening the in laws picked up the check, our check was easily over $200 dollars with them being from ENGLAND and the check clearly stating there was an 18% gratuity already added they left a somewhat smaller tip. Also in England tipping is not part of the everyday life. Anyways the manager had the nerve to come up to us and bitch about not leaving a tip! Didn't even let any of us to explain and then left the book for us to "fix" it.... We clearly did but I will never go back, for a place to not have one customer the whole time we were there and the amount of embarrassment they caused our poor family was just disgusting. Friendly and attentive wait staff. The food was presented beautifully. Prices were very reasonable. We came for the Seafood Shabu Shabu. What a disappointment. For $18 per person you get two shrimps, two oysters, tofu, vegies, and some fishballs that one can buy at a Chinese grocery store for $2 for 10. We were charge an additional dollar because the broth of the Shabu Shabu has too much hot pepper we needed to dilute it. I will NEVER go to this hole again. Went for shabu-shabu. My friends bowl had a hole in it, boiling water spilled out, ran down his leg, into his shoe. Waitress and manager blamed him for over-filling his bowl. Problem was his bowl was the only one of four that had a hole in it about an inch from the top. When we tried to explain to the manager that they should stop using this bowl (they said they had more with holes) they said they would continue to use them and expect guests to know there are small barely noticeable holes in some bowls. After pressing the manager to do better, she offered a 10% discount and laughed at us when we rebuked her minimal gesture, she croaked "what more do you want?" $4 off a $40 bill, no real apology, wet pants, wet shoe, ruined dining experience, and they are going to continue to use defective bowls, we won't be back and I will make sure everyone I know hears this story. read more

One of the worst experiences I've had. First off, I made a reservation 8 hours in advance and when I got there they still seated me 30 mins after my reservation time. Then after ordering drinks we were moved to yet another table where my party of three was separated and squished between 8 other people. The service was terrible. I was never brought a water or asked for a refill on my soda. Ute drinks were gone before the cooking even started and then the dinner lasted over an hour, so it was a long time to go with no drink. After we were seated at the second table, and gave our orders it took about 45 mins before the "chef" appeared to do the cooking. After all that waiting the food was bland and flavorless, the hibachi chef was boring and didn't even attempt to interact with the table. The chicken I ordered was raw in the middle, and as as a whole the dinner was over priced. I used the bathroom at one point to escape the elbow to elbow accommodations and the facility was disgusting with trash all over the floor. I will not go back here and recommend anyone else try one of the many other Japanese restaurants in town because this one isn't worth your time or your money and won't satisfy your appetite. read more

I am fan of Osaka. The restaurant is always clean and the host and wait staff are really polite. Jing the server is my favorite. I request her all the time. She is attentive and friendly. Most importantly she knows what my son wants as soon as we are seated in her section. On Monday's and Wednesday's they have half of sushi. The sushi is really good as well as the hibachi. Usually frequent this place on a Monday or Wednesday since the sushi is half off and really good. We went in tonight and asked for a table for two. They told us it would be a wait of 5-10 minutes. For half off night I feel like that wasn't too bad. There was a group of 5 that came in behind us and they were getting sushi like us but were seated almost immediately at the hibachi table since it was going to be the best to accommodate their group. No big deal. I totally understand that. After that a guy came in and asked for a table for two and was given a time (not sure how long, wasn't paying attention). After that a guy and his friend came in and asked for a table for two. He was told 10-15 minute wait and said ok. After about a minute he came up and asked the hostess if there was maybe a small table available outside. He didn't need anything big since it was just him and his friend. The hostess replies, sure we just had one open up. Give me just a second and then a minute later takes him to a table. Meanwhile My boyfriend and I had been there for 5-10 minutes and should have been seated first. Needless to say we got up and left. I was extremely upset to the point I lost my appetite. I called and asked for the manager and when I told her what had happened, she apologized for what had happened and said she would talk to the hostesses. I'm not sure what else I expected her to do but I just don't feel like she was very concerned by it. I'm not quite sure I will be frequenting there again. Even if the sushi is half off. read more

I went here during opening week, and was very disappointed both in the food (sushi) and the service. I thought they might need some time to work out the kinks. We decided to go back for a second chance later on. On February 9th we went back and tried the Hibachi this time. Upon walking in and signing up (10-15 minute wait which is very good for a Saturday night) there was a waitress who stated that she wanted to shoot herself in the face. We unfortunately wound up with this waitress at our hibachi grill. It took about 20 minutes to receive our drinks and two were forgotten. The chef came out about 20 minutes later, so after 40 minutes with our drinks (which were now empty without another sighting of the waitress) we were at least hoping for good food. The food was average. It was cooked correctly but a bit bland. After the meal, the waitress was contact twice for our bills, even once by her manager. She had incorrectly split the bills between the three separate groups that were seated with us. At the end, the waitress called one of the men at the table a "donkey" (but used the less socially acceptable term). This was in front of his children. I was sorely disappointed to see no action taken from management or apology on her behalf. We will not be back and will highly recommend to all friends and family that they make any other choice when going to dinner. read more

My wife and I dined in a few weeks ago. Before being seated, I mentioned that I have a severe Sea Food allergy to Shrimp. The waitress marked it on the notes for the order. When the chef came out, we also mentioned it to him before he started cooking and he acknowledged that he understood. Typically, the chef will cook the steak first which is a four minute job before cooking any sea food. This has never been an issue before at any restaurant. Before he started cooking, I noticed that the steak and the shrimp were on the same plate and I mentioned that I could not risk eating it, he ignored me or didn't listen and proceeded to cook all of the meat, including the shrimp at once. When I said that I had a sea food allergy, he looked at me like he was put off by the comments and proceeded to take the meat off the grill and was clearly agitated. Then he got on my case for having a sea food allergy.He said, "Next time tell me right away," and pointed his spatula at me. He told him that I did tell him and that he acknowledged it and he said "he forgot." The manager tried to make it right by cooking my portion in the back but I still ended up sick that night. I would highly recommend not going here...go to Fujiama or Kobe instead they listen, have better help, and don't make you feel terrible for having a sea food allergy. read more
