The ginger and yum yum tasted different...yum yum not as flavorful and ginger sauce tasted like steak sauce. We came here believing the food would be the same as the other location. We had the best chef, Ken! He was super funny and a great entertainer. Dining at hibachi is always an experience to remember, but having Ken as our chef put this experience in particular over the top. The food was amazing and I heard he cooked salmon for Bill Gates, so it was crazy to hear I was eating food Bill Gates ate! A friend of mine that lives in Macomb County raved to me about this place! Apparently this is a new location. My birthday is in march, and me and my family had first went to Benihana in troy to use the birthday coupon (little did we know there would be a 3 hour wait). Ultimately, we ended up at Osaka in Clawson which I wanted to try anyway. You pull up and the building and entrance look amazing. You can hardly tell its by a Super 8 motel. As my family and I entered the restaurant it was completely empty on a tuesday night. As we were heading to our table my 8 year old daughter noted outloud "HEY!where are all the customers?" Her mother and I told her to ssssh as to not wanting to be rude to thew new business owners.She then proceeded to say "They're probably all at Benihamas" BIG LOL (she pronounced Benihanas wrong too SMH)! me and my wife have been dying about that for weeks! In terms of services the waitress was nice and polite. When it became time to order things got tricky. In comparison to Hibachi restaurants I am familiar with ( Samurai Steakhouse in West Bloomfield, Benihana in Troy and Farmington Hills, as well as Miyako Steakhouse in Great Lakes) Osaka is a bit expensive. Here is were the visit got really interesting ladies and gentlemen. I asked the waitress to upgrade the fried rice (which you pay an extra $3 for with no chicken or shrimp) to a chicken friend rice, and the waitress responded with this. "We actually can't cook them together because it was a health code violation" "Violattttttion??" in my Souljah boy voice. "Lady do you understand that literally every Hibachi place offers meat in there fried rice for a similar price point with no hassle"? ( I said to myself in my head). What makes this interaction more bizarre is that the chef comes out with the chicken and does the fried rice in front of me.. together? Little did I know that this customized rice would cost $9.50! You can get 3-4 orders of rice from Benihana with chicken or shrimp for the SAME PRICE! Lets talk about the food I essentially ordered a Steak and Shrimp dish, and my wife ordered a Chicken and Shrimp dish, which costed roughly $25-27 bucks a piece. The food was ridiculously over-salted. I'm not going to say avoid this place but do better Osaka. I'd say service wise this place is solid, the people aren't rude or disrespectful and will attend to your needs. Food and taste wise, I just think Osaka misses the mark and doesn't really stake up to Benihana, or Samurai Sushi in terms of food quality and taste. read more

Came here with my wife and best friend for dinner a week ago. The restaurant looks nice. It's brand new build. Pricing is a bit pricey for Clawson, but it's a brand new place, so I guess I could understand. Highly recommend making a reservation. Hard to review hibachi as some of the experience it is based on the chef, not the restaurant. But, I would say, the chicken hibachi was good and the server was accommodating. Does it dethrone Benihana? No. At similar prices, I am still choosing Benihana, due to the better taste, but it's a very strong contender. read more

We've been there 3 times since the pandemic started and they have been consistently excellent in their quality for both hibachi and drinks. The servers are friendly and talented...making our dining experience enjoyable. We've been there both with and without a reservation. Unlike other area restaurants, we've never had to wait 1 to 1-1/2hrs. Their decor is quite nice, as is the host staff. Always count on them for a good meal. read more

Visited Osaka in Clawson for great curbside takeout of hibachi dinners. The process was very easy. Ordered over the phone. Ready in 20 minutes. The employees were friendly and COVID safe. Brought dinner out to our car. The food was delicious as usual. Dinner included everything you would get at the sit down hibachi experience except the entertaining chef. My favorite in the area for both their sushi and the hibachi! The filet and lobster is my go-to on the hibachi side. The flavor in all the food is amazing and the chefs are entertaining! We also love just hanging out at the bar with some cocktails and sushi. They have a great variety of sushi rolls and delicious, fresh nigiri and sashimi. This place sucks they make u wait long and get everything wrong and the waiters are dumb. Not only did they not have enough waiters to service the amount of people they are allowing to come in, but they also bring out the wrong orders to cook for you. They have made us wait for over and hour to then come and tell us there are ONLY 3 cooks working at this time (even though every table has people sitting down and waiting to be served by these 3 waiters). Don't waste your time coming to this location, you're better off going to the hall road location and waiting an hour to be seated. read more

Been to a lot of sushi restaurants and this one is the best. The portion size are plentiful that my daughter and I normally order a dinner dish to share. That didn't happen here we barely finished what we ordered and ended up boxing our dinner dish. When they say spicy, they mean spicy. Puts all the others to shame. Definitely worth dining here. TERRIBLE SERVICE. Waited 45 minutes to be seated then waited another 20 minutes to only order drinks. After that we waited 15 minutes to order food....After another 25 minutes of still waiting we finally left. Very disappointed as we were looking forward to trying out something new. I would not recommend going here. There are a lot of other comparable restaurants in the area who respect their customers time. I was super disappointed with this restaurant. First it took over 30 minutes and two reminders to get a beer at the table. The service was just awful. Our waiter had his mask down a majority of the time too. Second someone watched him take our menus INTO THE BATHROOM. Menus that everyone is reusing. Third the food was just not good. Fried rice was not even cooked properly and was crunchy. Everything else was so salty! Chicken was tough to chew and steak had this awful bbq sauce taste to it. I had a takeout order too the waiter forgot to place so that took another 30 minutes. I should have cancelled it once I tasted our food. The soup was super salty. The salad had this awful peanut dressing. I was just not impressed and will not be back. Even the hibachi cook too FOREVER cooking. Didn't even make it fun or interesting. Felt like everything was moving in slow motion there. Mind you we went at 7pm during the week. It wasn't even that busy. read more

Simply a lovely & classy atmosphere. Decorative wood ceiling mimics the hull of a ship - so unique. Be sure to check out the cherry blossom tree near the bar. Sat on the dining side (not hibachi). We were seated immediately and the waitress showed right up to start drinks. We got 2 beers which were ice cold upon arrival. Beer in the US was meant to be cold and they do it right. I asked, turns out they freeze the glasses first; but unlike some places, they don't dip the glasses in water first so you don't have that annoying layer of frost on inside/outside the glass. Nice. We ordered teriyaki meals: 1 salmon/1 chicken. Entrées include miso soup & house salad; nice prelim to setup the main course. Meals were very hot, served on a heated "pan", large portions, steamed rice was perfect. Plenty of leftovers. As a treat, we had the Golden Fish dessert (it had us at Ice Cream). Wow! Amazing, not what we expected. Similar to an ice cream sandwich, but much lighter: vanilla, light wafer, surrounded by whipped cream. Works well if you want to share it with someone. Great experience, all around. Service was great, right there when you needed her. All staff very courteous. Highly recommend! read more
