Stopped in here after work expecting a quick sushi dinner and honestly ended up staying longer than planned because the atmosphere was so relaxed. Ordered a couple rolls, miso soup, and gyoza. Fish tasted fresh and the rice texture was on point, not mushy or dry. Staff checked in just enough without hovering which I appreciated. The sushi is surprisingly good at Osaka, especially for the price. There are no booths, and this is a small restaurant, which is fine. Our service was okay. The most offensive thing to us was the bird droppings outside the front door. Obviously, birds must roost on the crossbars of the awning. They weren't there today, but still copious piles of excrement on the sidewalk right as we walked it. We still went, but I am questioning why we even went in. The best sushi in town! No seriously, often times I would rather have sushi here in Tooele than drive to SL because it's so much better! The garlic edamame is to die for! Gyoza top tier! I would highly recommend the X-Man or Mexican Crunch rolls. Seating is usually full and cozy, but decorated cute with Japanese lanterns and murals across the walls. We've been here a few times since moving to Tooele. Surprisingly good considering we are in the middle of Nowhere Utah lol Osaka has a small sushi bar with some great guys behind the counter. the food is always fresh, and the sushi is always great! The sitting area in the restaurant overall is very comfy and family friendly. I love their Tempura as well as their lunch bento boxes. The staff is always on it and i never hafta wait long for my food. i recommend the Chirashi Bowl. the chef on duty will put together his choice of select fish (cooked and raw), egg and/or fish smelt, all over a bowl of steamed rice and furakake (various seasonings). my absolute Fave!! Osaka is hit and miss, most of the time it's been pretty decent. However, when they are the slightest bit busy it seems they forget how to run a restaurant. 15 minutes after being seated the table next to us was sat and immediately had their order taken. Another 10 minutes after that we had our order taken. a half hour later we received the appetizer. So we are almost an hour in, we received one meal, a few minutes later when the server came back we had to ask for some silverware. It was a horrible visit this time. We ended up canceling part of our order because we hadn't received it by the time we were ready to leave. The table next to us had great service because the server knew them, they seemed to be family. The food we did get was still really good, and the only reason this isn't 1 star. read more

After several times here the reviews that seem so all or nothing make sense. Overall the food is good, but the service can be awful at times. They really have a hard time when there are a few tables filled. The overall chaotic nature does create some anxiety. Long wait times really need to be improved on. We've be coming here for years. Definitely the best sushi in our small town, and in my opinion, one of the best restaurants. Their sushi is consistent and tasty. Our favorites are Scorpion, Hot Summer, New Rocky Mountain, Mars. The kids like the Mexican Crunch but taking an entire family can be pricey, at least at the quantity we get. If you're looking for something other than Mexican in Tooele, give em a try. The half priced menu can make things much more affordable. read more

Drove 45 min to get to Osaka. Arrived at 2:05 and they would not seat us. Hours say open until 2:30 then reopen at 5:00p. They said they would accept To-Go orders but they won't honor the 1/2 priced lunch special. If your going to close the doors at 2:00 then post 2:00p. And if someone drives 45 min to eat in your restaurant in the ever climbing prices of todays market and is only 5 minutes later than your NON-posted hours, my suggestion would be to allow the paying customer the next 25 mins to order and eat since you don't know how to properly advertise your own hours or at the vary least give them the same price as dine in eating since your the ones that again don't know how to advertise your actual hours. read more

Hands down my favorite place to eat in Tooele. This is a hidden gem and I wish I would've eaten at this little restaurant sooner. The food was great, so much good flavor, no complaints at all. I got a rice bowl and my mom, ramen. I also love miso soup anywhere I go. With the sushi, we were for sure not dissatisfied a bit with what we ordered. It is small inside, but if anything it just makes the environment feel more cozy. Service with our waitress was also nice. Will definitely be back! read more

This place is so bad that I have to review which I barely do. I guess this is the only sushi place in town, that's why they really don't care about customer. 1. The small amount of fish that you can really taste anything. 2. The fishes taste so bad, that you can really feel it once you tongue taste it. 3. As a Southern California native I was pleasantly surprised with this sushi considering its in the middle of Utah! My sushi was very good and tasted great but nothing that blew my socks out -overall I would rate it average sushi. My biggest complaint was that the rolls were very unevenly cut. I had a few small slices and then a lot of huge slices - way to big to fit into my mouth. Not sure what happened there? My second complaint was that it smelled fishy - like the bad fishy. So that made me worry that the fish was going to be bad. However, it tasted ok so I forgot about the smell. I would return again but it's will not be in my top favorite sushi restaurants. read more

Lots of rice and not much seafood. You are better off ordering a roll with tempura in it to get your value's worth. My most favorite is unagi, eel, and I barely got any in the rolls I ordered. I get it, it's a state that isn't close to any water so they probably pay a lot for seafood. The cucumber and avocado was even less than most rolls as well. The only reason this is the "best sushi in Tooele" is because it is the only sushi place in Tooele. Service is slow regardless if there is no other customer or 20. Plan on waiting at least 45 mins for your order and with sauces and toppings that you don't want and are not listed on the menu for that item. One of my favorite places to eat at in Tooele. Usually will come here for lunch on Fridays or a nice dinner on Thursdays when my hubby is off. Love the Red Rock roll and the salmon hand roll. So, usually when I order, I get the above along with sashimi. And shrimp tempura as an appetizer. I also recommend the mango sake! My husband tends to be more adventurous and has tried the different rice bowls and bento boxes. I'll have to try those next. I eat sushi fairly regularly and can appreciate the difference between good sushi compared to mediocre. I have learned that Yelp is often misleading as many people who eat sushi really don't know what good sushi tastes like. I don't mean to sound condescending; it's just a simple truth. So I decided to take a chance and try this place out. I happened to show up on a Thursday, which was nice as they had an entire menu of half priced rolls that is only available on Wednesday and Thursday. I ordered an assortment of rolls and two types of sashimi. The service was excellent. They had quite a few, friendly and helpful waitresses who came by my table frequently. The presentation of the food was decent, but the food itself was only all right. Don't get me wrong, I have had worse, but the quality of the fish here was low enough that I will not be eating here again anytime soon. The rolls, while not great, were acceptable. It's the sashimi however that is the quickest way to determine the freshness and quality of a restaurant's fish. I was able to eat it, but I found the yellowtail and salmon that I had ordered to be extremely disappointing. When I left, all I could think about was brushing my teeth and flushing my mouth out with Listerine to get the lingering taste out. read more

The sushi here has always been mediocre at best, but at least it was close to home. However, as their service and food quality continue to go down, their prices continue to increase. Wait staff would rather stand at the register gossiping than be attentive to customers, and, if you order anything other than sushi (edamame, miso soup, etc.) they "forget" to bring it to the table and still try to charge you for it. This has happened to me on multiple occasions, and they act quite surprised when I don't want to pay for food I never ate. Also, it is not unusual to wait for an hour before getting any food, even when it's slow. I have been there for over two hours on a busier day with staff acting as if that was totally normal. Today was the last straw for me. I came in with a party of four and were told, "We don't have a table small enough for you," despite having multiple tables unoccupied. Then, rather than giving us a wait time or putting our name on a list, we were told, "Maybe just come back in an hour or two and see if we have any space." Ridiculous way to run a business, and I will not be back. I would not recommend this place to anyone no matter how much you enjoy sushi. For a short drive, you can get much higher quality sushi for less money, and it's delivered to your table quickly and courteously. read more

I was pleasantly surprised with this place. Everything was pretty good, and I especially liked that they have a ton of really cool our of the box sushi rolls on their menu. That being said, the sushi we got was just good and not great, and didn't taste too fresh. The worst part being that the service was a total disaster. We arrived and were greeted awkwardly, and told to sit while the person grabbed the menus, which took a couple of seconds then asked to come this way" after just touching our heineys to the bench. Once we were seated without any actual word, the waitress left and didn't come back for close to 20 minutes. She was actively walking around serving and helping other tables, and each time we passed we got a sort of sideways akward glance like "oh crap I forgot about these people... but if I talk to them now it will just be weird, so ill just wait till they leave". So finally I flagged her down, and she said "just a sec" then went and grabbed a pitcher, and preceded to top of every single water in the restaurant as if that needed to happen before we were greeted, then finally made her way over and asked if we "were ready yet", yeah, we were ready 20 minutes ago. Once we placed our order, the edamame came out pretty quick, but it was cold, and they only use table salt on it rather than the yummy flaky stuff or kosher salt most places use. The rolls we use came out pretty quick too, but the food did take longer than usual. My wife got the ramen, which literally was like a store bought ramen with some veggies mixed in and that was pretty disappointing. I got the bento box, which was really quite good, and seriously a good deal with all it included. We both left full, and other than the really sad ramen, we were happy with everything else. I would go here again, mainly because I want to try some more of their unique rolls, and also because they are a good value at the half off special they offer.
