When you are visiting Zion and it was our last night in Zion-you should stop by here. You won't regret it. We didn't want to go far, so we just walked across the street from our hotel to grab dinner. I wasn't totally sure about this place since the menu says Mexican, but you know what totally surprised me? The potato fries--seriously, probably the best I've had in a long time! I'm just coming back here for their fries. Their drinks were great too, and the shrimp tacos totally hit the spot after a full day of hiking. We received a voucher for this restaurant that came with our hotel room rental. We were seated right away by a friendly host and were waited on immediately. I love that they had heaters above almost every table (it was cold to us people from Hawaii ). My younger daughter and I ordered the Belgian waffle combo which includes--two Belgian waffles, scrambled eggs, fresh berries and your choice of protein (we got bacon). My hubby ordered the farmer's omelette (it has bacon, onions, potatoes and cheese in it) and my oldest daughter got the pork verde burrito. Every dish was delicious!!! By far the best restaurant in the Springdale/Zion area. We went here breakfast, lunch, and dinner, for two days straight. Their omelettes and skillets were so good and massive. The manager of this popular spot on the main road in Springdale, Holly, says that it's the staff that makes this place. I would certainly agree. The servers, buss staff, and host were all friendly, accommodating and efficient on a mid-October summer evening for a party of four. We waited around 20 minutes to be seated when we arrived at 6:45 pm (Oscars doesn't take reservations). The food at Oscars is plentiful, colorful, and to be truthful, extremely ordinary. There are six beers available on tap, all of which are of medium quality. Roughly the same in the wine department. None of these is expensive. One of us had the salmon, which was maple-glazed, and a large portion. The stuffed chili poblano was tasty. Another of us had the pork "chops" in a green chili sauce. These were tasteless and overcooked, but more importantly they were way too thin to be called chops. The last two guests had the rack of ribs, which came with a mountain of onion rings and French fries. All were average, at best. We didn't try the apps, nor the desserts. It was a bit chilly at an outdoor table, but we were able to activate the overhead heater, and were quite comfortable. The ambiance is busy, but not overly loud. So if you keep your expectations in the real zone, you are likely to be delivered a reliable if uninspired meal. At least the staff's smiles are special. And that helps a lot in a tourist destination like this. read more

Mexican spot that does not have margaritas! Had to opt for sangria (only non beer option), which was not great. Served in water glass, it tasted watery rather than fruity, strange wine and fruit did not look good. Guacamole was good, turned a little brown so I stayed positive concluding it's real and fresh. Service was fine, although felt rushed due to waitress keep trying to take away mostly full plate of food. Food came out fairly fast and tasted good. The worst and biggest concern were flies. Multiple flies everywhere, they were all over everything in patio sitting area and we spent most of our time waiving hands over our table to prevent them landing on the food & drinks and utensils. Had to give up nachos because flies landed on it. Waitress offered us a to go box and showed 0 reaction after we declined it due to it being contaminated with flies. Came here on our friend's recommendation and we weren't disappointed. Very close to the Springdale exit of Zion, it can get pretty busy, and we were there in April (which isn't quite peak season). Despite our group size (five adults and four kids 9 and under), we only waited about 30 minutes. Our server was super friendly and provided some good recommendations. We ordered the chips and salsa, which seems pretty basic, but those chips were very good. They were crispy but not oily/greasy, and weren't thin, so they were good for dipping. For entrees, I ordered the Maui burger, which was really good. A warning for those who don't like pickles (thankfully my wife does), you get a pickle spear on the side and sliced pickles on the sandwich itself. Regardless, it was still a bomb burger. My wife ordered the pork burrito, and it was pretty tasty. It's a decent size and my wife recommends sharing unless you're really hungry . The other item ordered was the Murder Burger. They only offered one option for coffee creamer such as half-and-half, but no lactose, intolerant, friendly creamers/milk options. Bacon was great, but it's really difficult to mess-up Bacon. Their chileverde sauce was great. Food was overall bland, such as a the pulled pork. Oddly enough the Waffles were hard and very sugary, my kids only took a few bites. Come hungry because portions are big! The burgers look monstrous, and same with the ribs. I had the fish tacos and this was manageable, I was able to finish my meal. Enjoyed breakfast this morning at Oscar's. When we walked in, the host was friendly and asked us if we were okay sitting at a high top and we were. Our server was very friendly, and attentive. I ordered the huevos rancheros with pork meat.They were delicious. The greens sauce is very tasty. The beans are homemade and not out of a can. The dish is fairly large and can be shared. Delicious! Our lodging sold vouchers for breakfast here and we bought 3 for my husband and I, so that we could get 3 meals to share between us. My husband ordered the Country French Omelette and liked it, the Pork Verde Burrito was delicious, and my Belgian Waffle Combo was good too. The seasoned potatoes were amazing. Overall we will likely be back for another breakfast while here. The cost of the vouchers and tip was about 50% of what we would've paid had we paid full price for everything. Well-deserving of the reputation of having the best food around Zion, Oscar's did not disappoint. After hiking in the morning, the excellent food was especially delicious. The salsa was so flavorful. Service was wonderful too. There are plenty of parking spots designated for the restaurant across the street. We did not have to wait long, but I can imagine it filling up fast on a weekend or holiday. The semi-outdoor dining area was very comfortable, and the heat lamp had to be turned off. This place has great food!! With how Springdale is, you can't really go wrong with restaurant choices, but these guys know what they are doing. They have a fusion menu with Mexican and American flavors. Their portions are HUGE so you will easily get at least 2.5 meals out of them. They don't have a reservation system so it is first come first serve. Their parking lot is across the street and is filled with scree so be careful while parking. We sat on the patio, which was nice and warm but had a breeze. We ordered the chicken pesto quesadilla and the pork enchiladas. I also got Sangria. The quesadilla was gigantic. It was basically a pizza. The quesadilla with cheese, then pesto, cheese and chicken on top. There were roasted pecans which was an interesting touch and I loved it. There were 8 pieces and I got through 2 somehow. The enchiladas were delicious. They came with lots of green chili and cheese, beans and rice. Additionally, there was a southwest salad which was very tasty too! That plate was also pretty big, but nothing like the quesadilla. The sangria was very cooling and delicious. The nachos were okay but we must have gotten the bottom of the bag because most of the chips under the melted cheese were broken and small. Not even 5 minutes after the nachos were served, our entrees came out, which made us feel rushed to eat so our food wouldn't get cold. The burrito was recommended as one of their most popular dishes, but the pork lacked general flavor and the green sauce was extremely watery. I guess this place is known for their large sized food. We sat in the patio. It was a cold day but they have heaters above. It was actually radiating high but no way to lower it besides turning it off completely. I got the blue bacon cheeseburger- it was very large and hard to bite into. Once I removed the tomato and some bacon, I was able to physically eat it. We had the rib platter for our app. Ribs were fall off the bone, a bit dry so we got some more bbq sauce. Onion rings and reg fries were good. The sweet potato fries were too thick cut and soft for me. The pesto chicken quesadilla was more like a pizza. There's cheese inside but chicken and cheese on top of the tortilla. Pesto was light. Dessert: the carrot cake was warm and moist. It was surprisingly good. The lava cake was a letdown. It was hidden under a mound of cool whip. We could hardly find the ice cream as well. It's made to look comically large but in reality it's majority whip cream. Service was good. Overpriced basic food with a tourist tax. Locals get a discount here. It's expensive enough traveling to Zion, there's limited food options and the price you pay is NOT worth the taste here. Driving out to River Rock Roasting company is more worth it to me or the Zion Pizza and Noodle place isn't too bad and prices make more sense. Indoor and outdoor seating. We noticed our waitress was friendlier to other tables who maybe didn't appear as tourists as they were wearing workwear. Another review mentions different treatment maybe based on ethnicity and I wouldn't be surprised if it's true. Nice there were heaters above the outdoor tables. My Maui burger had the thinnest possible slice of pineapple and the patty was the driest most bland meat patty I've ever had at a cost of $18. The French fries were good, pickle had an interesting aroma/after taste to it... The burger patties you can buy at Costco had more flavors than this one. Wish I took a photo of just the patty to show how bad it was. Dry, bland, and unappealing. I don't like feeling ripped off just because I'm traveling so here's one star. read more

Not the traditional tamales I hoped for. I was really looking forward to classic tamales like the ones I'm used to in Chicago (flavorful meat and sauce wrapped inside steamed masa). What I received was quite different: an empty soggy masa shell (appeared undercooked to me) placed on top of the meat topped with mozzarella. It might appeal to those who enjoy whatever style Mexican food this is, but I found it to be inedible. Verde sauce wasn't bad. My boyfriend enjoyed the meat in his pork burrito (he peeled off most of the soggy meatless tortilla) and the sangria was decent. Chips were not hot, salsa and guacamole were ok. Our group had just finished hiking the Narrows for hours, so it could be the starvation talking but all of the food hit the spot. You have to try the Mucho Nachos! We loved the sweet corn addition. We stayed here in Springdale on our visits to Zion and Bryce. Let me just say this, we loved our first visit so much we came back the very next day! The first day we had the chicken enchiladas. They had a mild tart flavor from the tomatillo sauce. The flavors married together perfectly! The second day we decided to go with something completely different, the grilled mahi mahi fish tacos, which came three to an order. If anything, we enjoyed the fish tacos even more! And this is from someone who loves fish tacos, from Southern California. Its a small place, you an eat either inside or out. Both of our waitresses were super nice and helpful! A solid four stars!
