My Korean friend really wanted to try this place since it's the first of its kind in Ktown! I was quite excited as well since I love a good simple chicken soup. We got the regular one to share and added extra chicken to our portion. Before I give a final rating for Korean restaurants by their main dishes, I always start by judging their banchan first. My main criteria is that it must be made fresh & in house. Upon taking the first bite of their kimchi & radish I knew this meal was going to be delicious. It did take quite some time before our meal was delivered but I didn't mind since I was conversing with my friends. In the pot were: 1.5 chicken, rice cakes, potatoes, kalguksu, & a whole lot of green onions. I wish there were more potatoes since we each only got 1 or 2 pieces. The broth was pretty flavorful despite it being so light. They provided this sweet spicy sauce to dip the chicken in & it was delicious! It was the favorite part of my meal for me. Overall, I would definitely come back during the winter if I was ever craving soup or was sick.

My friend and I came here on a Friday afternoon. We were so excited to try the famous raw marinated crab, and the chicken hot pot! Between the two of us, we did the crab and chicken hot pot combo. It honestly could've fed a party of four; however, because it was so delicious my friend and I basically finished the entire feast. I've had my fair share of raw crab in the past, but I must say this spot serves the best one I've ever had. It was perfectly salty, sweet, and spicy. It was extremely fresh and I'm definitely coming back here just for this again. The chicken hot pot on the other hand was very refreshing and paired well with the raw crab. The service is also tremendous - she would constantly come and check on us to ensure we were tended to! 10/10 would definitely be back again.

Osigye is an instant hit. Newly opened Korean whole chicken hot pot specialty restaurant with a unique twist on flavor with its option for basil pesto soup. Phenomenal. The flavor was rich and not overbearing. Chicken fell off the bone. Added kalguksu noodles were cooked just right. Highly recommend the Perilla leaf noodles. The owners were super kind and accommodating. They'll treat you right and make sure you're getting the best experience.

This place is on the top floor of Madang Plaza so it can be hard to find, but it's not to be missed! Their menu is very small but they only serve what they excel at making. We got the small size chicken hot pot, which as a group of 3 was perfect, and the spicy squid salad. The broth was delicious. It didn't require additional seasoning. It came with fresh kal guk su noodles, and they closely monitored the noodles to make sure they didn't overcook. As far as service goes, this was the best experience I had at a Koreatown restaurant. The staff was beyond attentive. We never had to ask for anything, and they went above and beyond to go out of their way to help us. We put all our bags on a chair and the staff was worried the soup from the hot pot would splash on our bags so they gave us a cubby to keep our bags safely in while we ate. My mom and cousin were also wearing white shirts, so they were given aprons. Since we weren't too familiar with the food, they took the time to explain the different sauces. They served the hot pot to us in individual bowls so we didn't have to serve ourselves.

After trying dakhanmari for the first time in Seoul, I was happy to hear about Osigye as it's a bit more rare here. First things first... Parking: since Osigye sits on the top floor of the MaDang mall, there's a large multi-level parking lot that's free with validation. Atmosphere: this restaurant is a clean, well-lit, small/medium size place and the staff are very welcoming and attentive here. We felt right at home. Now for the food... Original chicken gomtang: beautifully rich yet clean chicken broth. The chicken itself was hearty, perfectly cooked and the dipping sauce was a garlicky gochujang with hot mustard. The small portion was more than enough for me and my wife (we had to take leftovers). I now get cravings for this soup often--like right now for example. Pibim guksu: a fresh/bright compliment to the soup with heavy pours on the perilla oil just how we like it. Super tasty and a great combo of noodles and greens. The verdict: Osigye offers a decisively direct menu with a simple yet very yummy chicken soup that has landed itself in my list of options whenever considering the trip over to Ktown.

I was craving a hearty/nourshing soup and this seemed like it would hit the spot. However, just as a previous reviewer mentioned, some of their items are not accurately portrayed on their menu. I ordered the Original Broth Korean chicken hot pot which serves 2-3 people. In the menu photo (attached in this review), it showed bokchoy/napa cabbage/mushrooms. However, none of that was brought out. The soup had onion, potato, green onion, rice cake, and kalguksu already inside the soup. The menu also showed two different dipping sauces and we were only provided one (a spicy gochujang-like sauce with chives). When I inquired about what was brought out, the waiter said that there has been some changes to the menu since they opened which did not make sense because they opened less than a month ago. If that's the case then they need to update their images so that customers aren't misguided. Another issue was the ratio of the ingredients. Though the menu said it fed 2-3 people, there was enough kalguksu for 1 person. I get that the soup had other ingredients but since this does not come with rice, it felt incomplete eating this without a substantial carb. The only other carb was a few rice cakes. Had we had a third person in my party, I don't think this would satisfy us. After the meal, you can choose to either have them make fried rice (extra $1.99) or make porridge (included in the meal cost). The positives to this meal was unlimited chicken broth and the generous portion of the meat. I did leave feeling full but it was mostly because I drank a lot of the broth. If I were to come back, I would only get the individual portion. I do not think this meal was worth $60+ for 2 people. Parking: Validated 3 hour parking.

My review: 3.5 stars out of 5 I saw this restaurant on social media and immediately remembered my time in Korea last year, where they had an entire row of restaurants that served 닭한마리 (rough translation:one chicken). The restaurant is located in Madang Mall, on the third floor. When I arrived with my friend, there was no wait and we got seated fairly quickly; we arrived at about 6:00 ish on Saturday. The staff looked like they were running around everywhere and we were moved at one point because we were sitting right next to the entrance. We weren't served our banchan until our food came out, which was a bit odd, and our water cups were only given when we asked for them. Nevertheless, we ordered the basil chicken and the green onion pancake. The chicken was good and the basil made the experience alot more interesting. The pancake was also very good, extremely crunchy and perfectly seasoned. The inside of the restaurant was a bit hot and uncomfortable but not that bad. Overall, the staff looked fairly new and the restaurant was fairly busy, which was probably why our service wasn't the best, but the food definitely made up for it. Would definitely like to check them out again in the future!

After hearing rave reviews about Osigye, my family and I finally tried it out. Coming in on a Tuesday night, there was no wait like there is on the weekends. We ordered the oyster salad, kimchi pancake, and signature chicken soup. In terms of flavor, the oyster salad was the most refreshing and catching. The sauce that comes with the chicken soup is quite horrible (it's just wasabi with a mild red pepper sauce). Because this soup is traditionally less seasoned, the dipping sauce is an important factor in completing the dish. We found ourselves eating the chicken with the jjangachi or pickled vegetable sauce that came as a side dish instead. Hopefully, they make changes to the sauce soon. The soup itself was pretty good. When we first ordered the kimchi pancake, it came out very burnt. We addressed this with our server and they kindly gave us a new one. The crisp on the outer edges is delicious, BUT the majority of the pancake is way too doughy. It almost has a rice cake texture that's not very appealing. Considering there aren't many or any places in Ktown that specialize in this dish (as far as I know), I do recommend Osigye overall! A nice try.

Went here for a quick Boy's Lunch with a couple of coworkers after seeing a ton of Instagram Reels. Was not disappointed at all. Ordered the Dakhanmari with Oyster Salad combo and a side of buchupajeon. Food was delicious and filling. We all left full and teetering food-coma status satiated. The overall experience was amazing, and the service was attentive and helpful. The restaurant itself is on the third floor of the Madang Courtyard, so you get a pretty nice view of the courtyard or of the LA streets if you snag a window seat. Will be sure to come back with the family to try the volcano crab!

I ordered the lunch combo O and got the Basil Chicken Gomtang with the "Spicy Squid Salad" combo. The Basil Chicken Gomtang was actually very unique and surprisingly delicious. It was flavorful and honestly I liked it even more than regular chicken gomtang. The spicy salad was tasty too -- the chicken felt a little unexpected in it, but the seasoned radish was really good. ***** The reason I ordered this combo specifically was because I was craving SPICY SQUID SALAD. I normally don't eat a lot, but I intentionally chose the Chicken Gomtang + Spicy Squid Salad combo because the MENU said squid. However, there was literally no squid in it at all. When I asked, they told me it was actually a chicken salad instead. I explained that the menu specifically says squid salad and that was the reason I ordered it. They mentioned that their previous restaurant used to make it with squid, and then recommended I try the regular chicken gomtang next time instead. The response felt a bit disappointing. Also, when I switched from the regular chicken gomtang to the basil version, the staff changed the combo to the pancake combo pricing instead. I was a little confused because the regular and basil chicken gomtang are listed at the same price, and I assumed the combo price difference came from the side dish itself (squid salad vs. pancake). So it felt odd to pay the higher pancake combo price even though what I originally ordered was the squid salad combo. To be honest, I don't mind paying more if I'm getting what I actually wanted and enjoying the meal. But what I wanted was the squid salad listed on the menu. I know they're still newly opened, so hopefully the system/menu descriptions improve over time. The 3-hour parking validation was great, and the staff members were kind overall. But even though they were friendly, the way the situation was handled felt a little lacking.

Great spot for family style Korean comfort food. The chicken soup with pesto was surprisingly delicious, the pesto added a unique twist without overpowering the broth. The original chicken soup was simple and comforting. Perfect place to share a meal with family or friends.

I think I've been coming here for a very, very long time--probably for about 20 years! I used to come here quite often back then. At some point, though, I stopped coming as much because the parking situation in this shopping center became so busy and chaotic that it was difficult to even get in from the entrance. Also, the last time I came here, maybe two years ago, the valet parking attendant was so rude that I didn't really feel like coming back. This time, since we were already in the area for the spa, we decided to stop by again. Back when I first started coming here, it was just a very small noodle restaurant. One thing they've kept all these years--and what I think is such a great touch--is that they still serve yeolmu kimchi and kkom-bori-bap (barley rice) as a complimentary side. The restaurant became incredibly popular over the years and eventually expanded into the neighboring space, so there are now many more tables than there used to be. Since it had been such a long time since my last visit, I noticed they had quite a few new menu items that weren't available before, including galbi-jjim (braised short ribs), samgyetang (Korean ginseng chicken soup), and galbi noodle soup. One of my brothers and I ordered the perilla oil makguksu each, and it was absolutely delicious! It had such a rich, nutty flavor from the perilla oil, and it was one of those dishes that makes you think about it again later. In the past, I would always order the clam kalguksu whenever I came here, but this time I decided to try something different. My other brother ordered the clam kalguksu, and my mom had the dolsot (Hot stone) bibimbap. I tried a spoonful of my mom's dolsot bibimbap because I really like bibimbap too, and it was delicious as well. In the past, the wait here used to be incredibly long. You had to write your name and phone number by hand at the entrance, and then a staff member would come outside and call your name when your table was ready. This time, the system was different. We were told to simply wait in line, and she would take our orders outside. She said the wait would only be about 5-10 minutes, and she was absolutely right. While we were waiting in line outside, she handed us menus, took our orders, and then seated us at our table. The food came out quickly, the service was very friendly, and everything we ordered was delicious. It turned out to be a very satisfying dinner. After coming back here again after such a long time, I completely understood why this place has been so popular for so many years. It was just as popular back then as it is now, and honestly, I can see why!

On top of that, the interior is clean, cute, and very well-kept. Parking is quite limited, though--even with valet service, it gets super congested. There's almost always a long line, as it seems like a must-try spot for anyone visiting LA. Because of that, getting a table is usually pretty tough, but we got so lucky last Sunday and were seated right away. The food was absolutely divine, and we left completely satisfied. Honestly, I almost wish fewer people knew about this place so I could come more often. They're just that good.

Only downside is that after mixing in the beef marrow with the tartare, it became congealed fat so not a great texture. But flavor was great. Down the line, I realized that the set was basically a bunch of ban chan. Some were interesting because other Korean restaurants don't serve it. We were advised to use it to create our own bibimbap. The perilla porridge stood out most. I never had perilla porridge. The taste was unique. It had chicken inside. The small cup of pumpkin soup was yummy. The soybean soup (fermented soy bean stew) had a very pungent smell. I wanted to enjoy it, but it wasn't for me. I couldn't stand the smell and not comfortable with the taste. Wish they gave an option to choose from different stews. The desserts were good. I also like their plum tea/juice. The galbi was well marinated. Not as tender as I was hoping for, but it was still delicious. With the price, I do feel like the set should include a dish of meats. Especially since the restaurant requires 2 people at $34 each for the set. If you go 3 people, prob more worth it. Overall, it was a fun experience. Service was great.

The sweet pumpkin porridge was better, but I'm not a fan of sweet porridge. The rest of the set was better, fortunately, but most of it was on par with banchan that is complimentary at other restaurants but of course more variety. The savory pancake was very crispy and stayed that way. That was probably my favorite from the set, along with the perilla seed and chicken soup. The texture was quite thick like gravy but I love congee and it had a similar feel but nuttier taste. I would love a bowl of this if I were sick. Since there were 3 of us, we thought a protein would be good so we ordered the pork ribs. They were pretty good. It reminded me of hamji park, although I prefer hamji. It ended up being more food than we could eat so we took some of the ribs home. I'm glad we ordered the set for 2 and then shared a different dish. If you're searching for some of the city's best pork, then those in the know will bring up Ham Ji Park. For 2 decades, generous platters of pork ribs and pork neck stew decked every table. Now, our Korean friends lament the loss of their favorite pork joint in the city. The Koreatown proper location is located in the Royal Plaza mini-mall, just a few blocks off bustling Wilshire. Discounted parking is available in a lot across the street from the Chevron gas station. From the street, the entrance is flanked by potted plants and an enclosed street-ery. Inside, stainless steel chairs are pressed up against wooden tables, each outfitted with a metal grill. Oppressive fluorescent lighting shines down on the stone grey walls, which are left undecorated apart from a few flatscreens. Multi-lingual chatter blends with the sizzle of platters. I visited with some friends for a weeknight dinner, and about half of the tables were occupied. We shared a spread of grilled platters and sizzling soups. The meal began with a carafe of barley tea and a mostly standard spread of banchan. Across our food, the best dish was the signature Charbroiled Pork Spare Rib. The ribs were flavorful without feeling gamey, and the meat was complemented by sweet caramelized onions. The pork ribs handily outdid the good-not-great Charbroiled Beef Short Rib. Lastly, the Milt and Cod Rose with Vegetables stew was fishy and briny, appropriately flavored for the Korean palate. The service was appropriately attentive, although I would've appreciated more intentional refills of our banchan ramikens. The rib plates cost upward of $35 each, while the soup was just under $30. The portions were hearty; a single entree platter could reasonably feed 2 moderately hungry bellies. It's a shame to hear that Ham Ji Park has closed; I'm kicking myself for not trying their pork neck stew earlier.
