Totally average. Food fell short of the hype. The pasta was fresh but everything tasted salty. The service was excellent. The pasta is made fresh but the sauces missed the mark. We also had meatballs and it had more bread crumbs than meat. The interior is sub par for the prices. The arugula salad was the best part.
Ospi Venice does a great job and I'm glad to have tried them at last. I had enjoyed restaurant Jemma di Mare in Brentwood and imagined their sister Ospi would also be a hit. Ospi is a bit more Americanized, and they do that very well. Spacious and gets crowded, so a reservation is a good idea. Fun cocktails and a variety of wines to choose from, if you're so inclined. The Chef's Negroni is a soothing, smoky and somewhat sweet cocktail that starts with cathedral mezcal. I loved it. We ordered a several dishes - and let's start by saying you must try the ricotta. 'Whipped cheese, sea salt' does not do it justice, but it's wonderful and perfect to share. The Beef Tartare is another winner, served with crispy potato and parm. It's pretty huge, and rich, and conveniently cut into pieces for easy sharing. The crunch potato chips on top are a nice finish. A creative take on a classic, purists might wonder what's going on, until they taste it. The Caesar is huge and great to share, too, as well as the Crispy Rhode Island Calamari. These are more in the department of comfortable staples, but are delicious crowdpleasers, nonetheless. Of the entrees we ordered, everyone seemed to like mine the most: Malloreddus (bbef cheek, ragu napoletano, thyme, toscano). It sounded a bit quirky, but inviting. The server gave it a bit thumbs up, so I'm glad to have ventured this way. Served over the small pasta pieces that you can watch being made closer to the front of the restaurant. The Lemon Tagliolini features lobster 'fry diavolo', basil and pistachio. Not too spicy, and the lobster and pasta were perfectly cooked. The cannelloni was perhaps the one entree that, while good, did not rise above 'just fine'. Perhaps the flavors were a bit toned down that night, or maybe overwhelmed by the gorgeous Sorrentina blanket of mozzarella, tomato sauce and basil. Dessert was good, and the DIY affogato was delicious. Noteworthy service, and a friendly sometimes boisterous energy in the restaurant help make for a fun dining experience.
Had a reservation for 9:00 and somehow still waited 25 minutes while there were multiple open tables. Food came out cold, so the provolone wasn't good. Seems like they premade it and had it sitting out for a while. Pizza was okay, pasta was actually good, so credit where it's due. Service was pretty bad, to be honest. We waited another 25 minutes just to get someone for the check. She seemed like she'd rather be anywhere else, and disappeared. Overall, for the price, it felt pretty underwhelming. I came here before, but this time it was extremely disappointing.
Can I just say...this place ranks up there with some of the best. I eat out quite a bit and I absolutely loved this place. If I lived closer I would add it to my weekly rotation. Ospi Venice is a memorable spot with a beautiful atmosphere, great knowledgeable servers, and amazing unforgettable dishes. Our server was a gem, Jessica had the best recommendations and what she suggested we ordered. She's a keeper. - Crispy Provolone: Gooey stretchy provolone with a crispy Italian bread crumb crust. Side of warm marinara. If you love cheese this is your dish. - Neopolitan Meatballs: Lets face it. I am a meatball snob. I was taught by my Italian Portuguese Mama Rose who took me in when I first moved away from home and taught me authentic italian cuisine. These meatballs almost (ALMOST) reminded me of cooking with her - soft, tender, and loaded in flavor. - Kale: recommended by Jessica and I can see why. This dish was one of the best kale salads I have ever had. Get it. You won't regret it! - Margherita with Pepperoni Piiza: the thinnest pizza crust I have ever had! And because of it, each ingredient was left to shine. I knew it was a must order when every table also had this pizza. - Tonnarelli: a cacio e pepe simple and so good every ingredient worked perfectly together. Pasta al dente and tossed with just the right amount of sauce. - Tiramisu, Connolis (another Jessica recommendation), Brownie. As full as I was I tried it all. No regrets whoever their pastry chef is knows exactly how to get customers addicted. Keep her/him & Jessica...lol! - Hot Girl Summer Cocktail: gin and honey? Yes please. - Extra Dirty Martini: Perfection. That's all I can say.
We were at Ospi for Mother's Day celebration. We started with the biscuit and kale salad. I'm a kale lover but this salad was one of the best I have had. Next was Copione pizza with a super thin crust and beautifully balanced sauce. Spicy Rigatoni was not spicy at all but delicious. I was a little disappointed by the Breakfast carbonara. Poached egg on top of the pasta is not the best choice. Overall our experience was great and we will definitely go back if we are in the area.
Good Italian food but not so great. I've tried way better Italian food in the LA area than Ospi. However, the service here was great 10/10! Our waiter was very attentive and was always checking up on us. Believe it or hard to find good service nowadays. Pricing for this restaurant is fair and reasonable. Serving size might be small for a heavy eater. Overall, I give Ospi 4/5 stars!
We tried out Ospi in person finally after only ever ordering their spicy rigatoni via Uber eats lol. The place itself is nice inside, with plenty of seating. There's also metered street parking outside and at the time we went, it wasn't hard to find a space close by. We ordered this ricotta toast (DELICIOUS AND RICH), the ceasar salad (which wasn't really like a ceaser salad at all, but it was still good), spicy rigatoni (delicious; a classic), the meatballs (ehhh, it was okay), the cacio y pepe (good flavor but too al dente for my liking), and the crispy provalone (great!! tasted like a better version of a mozzarella stick). We were super full at the end of this feast. service was good. clean restrooms in the back of the restaurant. something cool is that you get to watch them make their noodles right in the dining area too!! all in all I would love to come back here again.
Loved getting to eat outside here -- we had the outdoor area to ourselves even though the inside was quite busy. It did take a while to get service. But the server apologized and then was very attentive from that point forward. We ordered the Brussels, the kale salad and the spicy rigatoni. The Brussels were. "B" -- the kale salad was amazing and the star of the show was the spicy rigatoni with the vodka sauce. Delicious. The portions weren't huge but were plenty for the two of us. Normally we have so much left over when going out for Italian. Not the case here which was good since we are on vacation and don't want to be wasteful. Prices are $$$ but that seems to be the case everywhere in Venice, Santa Monica and Marina Del Ray areas. Recommend trying this spot.
The vibes of the place were pretty good indoors, but I wouldn't come here if you want to do a dinner for 2. The tables were so close together I had to speak really loud in order to be heard by my friend. The larger tables with the booth seemed to be more comfortable but the tables in the middle section were just super close together. The other tables also had a little handle for purses which were neat but our table didn't have it which was a bummer. Our waitress was very nice and cut in at the perfect moments and checked in regularly. The food itself was good but nothing crazy. I honestly wish for the price of the calamari we got a little more, but it was still pretty good! Nothing really stood out as being absolutely amazing between the things we ordered, but if I had to pick one I really enjoyed it was the brussel sprouts. Plenty of parking options like street parking, valet, or lots around.
Ospi is one of our favorite spots in Venice. The food is always excellent, especially the pastas and the kale salad. Everything is consistently high quality, the service is attentive, and the ambiance is amazing every time we visit. You can tell the team takes pride in what they do. Keep up the great work and continue delivering the outstanding food and service that keeps people coming back. Highly recommend!
Came back and had a similar experience like last time - food was good but service was only so-so. And with service I am referring more so to the wait time and having to wait an excessive amount of time even when you have a reservation. We still enjoy the food and will probably come back. And we still left a 25% tip.
The perfect place to go for consistent food but be wary of overcooked pasta. My go to order is the spicy rigatoni, which is always cooked perfectly. The last time I went to Ospi, I tried the lobster lemon tagliolini and the pasta was extremelty overcooked and barely had any lobster - which is so disappointing for such a pricey dish. The steak was perfectly cooked and the arugula salad added the perfect amount of freshness to our dishes. The brussel sprouts tasted like they were deep fried and topped with more oil, so I'd skip it the next time.
Decided to come back here and try this place again after a subpar first experience and was pleasantly surprised with how much better everything was from the food to the staff. Special shoutout to the manager D'Andrew for ensuring customers have a great experience. Ambiance outside was really nice. They have heaters for when it's a bit chillier. Waiter was super friendly and attentive despite having to cover so many tables. Food: Raschiatelli: 11/10 Not what I was expecting in the best way. The meat was so tenter, the breadcrumbs added a nice crunch, and the noodles were delicious. Perfectly cooked and the cheesy sauce was a great flavor. Highly recommend this dish more than anything!! Garlic Bread: 8/10 Good starter but not very garlicky. Japanese Eggplant: 8.5/10 Nice spicy sauce and I love eggplant. Very good dish! Funghi pizza: 9/10 The pizza is very thin but comes out with such a great crisp. The cheese on this pizza was really strong and created a great flavor combo with the mushrooms and caramelized onion.
I can see why their popular for their dishes! The spicy rigatoni was my personal fav and one of their most popular dishes. The persian cucumber salad was refreshing and light. The margherita pizza was thin, yet very filling! The ambiance was great for dinner time. The food came out very quickly, though my mom and I came before the rush. There's no parking so street parking is your best bet. Great experience overall! read more

I've been hearing great things about Ospi for a while, so my friend and I checked if there was reservations on the same day weekday night and there was! I ordered the spicy rigatoni which was a 5/5, I still think about it. My friend got the butter chicken which had vodka sauce in it, so unique. It was also really good, but I still preferred my dish! I got the espresso martini with oatmilk as my drink and it was good for the first 2 sips, but tasted like straight vodka after that. I would order again and ask to go just slightly lighter on the vodka. There was no street parking around 8 PM when we went so we parked at the garage across the street. Can't wait to come back! read more
My husband and I had a fantastic dinner here! I really enjoyed their happy hour too, excellent prices! I recommend their flight of cocktails, the espresso martini is absolutely delicious! The fried cheese is a must, their vodka sauce is sold by the jar, which I recommend taking home, it is that good! The salads are light and delicious, the pizzas are very good too! Service stellar, plenty of inside as well as outside seating. Easy walk to the beach, making this an ideal date night! Highly recommended! read more
I've been here a couple times and it never disappoints. The staff are always friendly and the vibe, chill. They offer indoor and outdoor dining. My go to: Spicy Rigatoni alla vodka. So good. Creamy. Simple and delicious. Japanese Eggplant. Spicy tomato oil, parmigiana fonduta, basil, and pangrattato. This is soooo good. I honestly can eat this everyday. Honorable mentions: vodka pizza and Margherita pizza. (They're both good sizes, enough for two/maybe three people to share.) That's if they're also ordering something else. read more
The food was amazing at Ospi! Definitely a solid spot for Italian food. They have a variety of menu items and the pizza was super thin but it still held its shape. The pastas were perfectly cooked al dente and had a nice balance of flavors! Our waiter was really attentive and had the best attitude and was quite the character! He was very thorough with the menu and gave us the run down especially because one person in our group was celiac and it was crucial that we made it very clear for cross contamination. The restaurant is super spacious and is great for large parties! There's a station where you can see them make their pasta fresh! The restaurant is also super close to the boardwalk so you can definitely check out a fun touristy part of LA! read more

Food was delicious!! Highly recommend the kale salad and vodka pizza. We got the ricotta gnudi but it was different from what we expected. Service was great! Our waitress was super helpful and nice. She even gave us complimentary dessert to make up for the pasta. Would definitely come back here. Vibes were awesome. read more

I've worked in the industry for 11 plus years and I hate to be " that person " . I was literally greeted by the manager, who was kind ( kindness is bare minimum) . I'm a little particular, but I do believe my complaint is valid. I sat outside and asked the manager( Imber) for a few recommendations. I heard about Ospis $25 lunch special so I decided to partake in it . The food was pretty delicious. Loved the fried provolone! As I wanted to place my order , the server came outside and started clearing a table. He looked at me and continued to clear the table . He then proceeded to walk inside.. ok . the manager who sat me ( Imber ) saw that I was waiting and kindly took my order ! I told him that I've been waiting 11 min and the server thought that it was more important to clear the table instead of taking my order ! He was very apologetic and said " i got you" . I thought that since I was the only table outside, maybe I had been overlooked, but a couple sat outdoors . Then the same server rushed over and kindly greeted them . Still without acknowledging me. . I ordered an espresso martini and when it arrived 10 min later Imber said " this is on me " I kindly thanked him . The appetizer was quick to come out and was extremely delicious ( fried provolone) . The flies were extra bothersome and atrocious . So I asked to move inside. Once I got inside , Imber could not have been kinder . The server finally acknowledged me and asked how I was doing?!? I told him I was good and I thanked him! Once I got my delicious main course,I was better . I felt like I was a little bit hangry and might have come off a little rude , so I instantly apologized! And continued to eat once I finished the half of my sandwich , my mouth started to burn ... like really burn . I called the server over and asked what was on the sandwich to make it so hot ???. His response " I don't know , I'll go check " . He went to the host stand and started chit chatting. I stayed patient and didn't want to make anymore complaints, so I sat there with no water and my mouth burning . He finally returned and said it's the "pickled Calabrian chili " granted I should have read but I do believe that it's important that when that sandwich is ordered you should definitely warn people about the unbearable heat . When the bill came , it was $23 more dollars that it should have been. I sadly I had to call the manager over again and I felt so embarrassed! But ,again he kindly adjusted it to the correct price! He also said the Martini was " on him" and charged me anyway. I do take full responsibility for not reading and not wanting to sit outside with the flies , and I never expect free anything ! I've been going to Ospi for years and I've lived in the neighborhood for years . The food is great but the service is truly, truly lack luster ! I was awfully disappointed and certainly felt a bit saddened by this whole experience. I'm not recommending this place to anyone anymore because the service left a bad taste in my mouth (! Food is still awesome! I don't treat myself to lunch just for good food ! I do expect good service as well ! I left a 25 percent tip because I'm not " that person " but I will likely not return which saddens my heart! . Little details matter and making someone feel important in your establishment is of the utmost importance! read more

It happens to be dine LA, so I started my lunch with their meatballs, which I have to say at first was a little, unsure about having pine nuts in them, but ultimately, I really enjoyed them. The texture of the meatballs was excellent and they are super flavorful the piece of warm rustic bread served with it was a nice touch one that I feel like is lacking in so many restaurants. The presentation was also nice. I should've taken a picture, but apparently I needed to put them in my belly. The penne was a little El Dante perfectly cooked and seemingly very fresh. I love spice and I felt like the spicy vodka sauce nailed it, perfect amount with a slight kick but keeping it really tasty. The waiter was super personable and attentive. read more
You can't go wrong with the food here. The kale salad, the meatballs, the vodka pasta - perfection. The pizza is pretty good. Service is okay - not the best. Hostess acts like she's scheduling appointments for the president of the USA - like please relax. Same goes for ambience; the ambience in the far back of the restaurant is the best you'll get. 5 stars because the food is just so good. read more

Still hits - even the 2nd time! Our waiter, Tom, was excellent! We tried some new things - Caesar salad, cucumber salad, bread with ricotta and the copione pizza! Highly recommend the Caesar salad!! A side of the bread is a must, but the ricotta was a bit much. The pizza was really tasty - I liked the spiciness! You won't have a bad meal here and the staff are all so great! Our next venture will be their brunch! read more
The vodka pasta was absolutely delicious, the meatballs were really good and the bread was delicious. It is a little overpriced for the portion sizes and while it was delicious, it was very classic and I have had many similar dishes. The restaurant was very beautiful though and not crowded on a Sunday night, we were immediately sat with a bigger party. Had a wonderful birthday dinner last night! The food was really good. We ordered the Japanese eggplant, crispy provolone, spicy rigatoni and cavetelli. We were hoping to get dessert but we were both stuffed by the end of the meal. The show stopper personally for me was the eggplant (SO good!!) and the spicy rigatoni (you could really enjoy the notes of basil with every bite along with the yummy vodka sauce). But all of it was really tasty and I would definitely go back. At night the ambiance was moody and lively which we enjoyed. It was a little loud but we still managed to talk perfectly fine the whole time. There is also a little light on the table which makes reading the menu really easy at night. I don't want to forget to mention our server Ricky (idk if that's the correct spelling so I apologize if not), she was amazing and attentive just the right amount! Had also a lovely conversation with her at the end so that made our visit definitely extra special! read more

Been to the Costa Mesa location and have nothing but good things to say. So decided to drop by here since was walking by. Surprised I got a reservation on a Saturday night only a few hours before. We had to wait a little bit but well worth it. Got the cacio e Pepe- 7/10 . The vodka pizza is a must . Super thin crust and flavorful. The service was excellent too. Our pizza came out kind of cold and I hate complaining at restaurants but when we waited so long I asked if we could get it reheated and he said they would bring out another one. And the lady who did said they both were on the house. Was not expecting that at all and so nice of them. Goes to say he was given a generous tip. So overall 9/10 and good is great. Will definitely be back. read more
When I went to Ospi I loved my experience! My friend and I had awesome wait staff who were super attentive. I got an Aperol Spritz as my drink which was superb for our starters we got the Crispy Provolone and the Stracciatella Fett'unta. Out of these two although the Crispy Provolone is a fan favorite I would pick the Stracciatella Fett'unta any day. For the main course I got the Spicy Rigatoni which you just simply can't go wrong with it's fantastic! Overall it was a great experience a little on the pricier side, but worth the money in my opinion! read more

Very clean restaurant. The lightening was so well thought out, it had such a romantic feel to it overall. 5 stars. The Margherita Pizza was lovely, very thin pizza, just the right amount of sauce and cheese and basil. Truly tasted like genuine Italian Pizza. 5 stars. The ricotta garlic bread was delicious. I love ricotta, so I would take scoops of it and add it to the spaghetti. Wow! It was just perfect. 1 order comes with the 2 pieces (as seen in the photo) and it was just the right amount for myself and my partner. 5 stars. The spaghetti in pink sauce was perfectly Al dente, and the pink sauce was flavorful. It was the perfect portion size as well. 5 stars. Thiago was our server, he was very kind and knowledgeable about the menu; we really appreciated his service! We will definitely be back to Ospi when we are back in California! read more
Brunch requires exciting carbs and the options at Ospi are just what you need. Start with their pizzas! They are super thin & crunchy, kinda like a cracker My fav is the copione!! The salty soppressata is balanced by the sweet honey drizzle and a chili kick. Pastas are just as amazing. Love that they are simple but flavorful. Noodles are freshly made in house so expect satisfying textures Everything is kinda salty but still good! Ospi is an absolute gem, especially for happy hour--just $33 per person for an incredible deal on delicious food. The value is amazing, and the quality is top-notch.The kale salad was fresh and flavorful, and the pasta was perfectly cooked. The pizza is generously sized, making it great for sharing. We were visiting LA for a quick weekend trip and I had this place at the top of my list because of the crispy provolone, but I didn't like it that much. I don't drink alcohol, so I was curious to see how the no-vodka vodka sauce would be and I found out quickly, I'm not a vodka sauce girly. But, the kale salad was absolutely phenomenal! I needed a bucket full and kept reaching for more, because it was just so delicious! It had a nutty and cheesy flavor and the textures were just perfect! We also ordered the spaghetti, margherita pizza, and lemon taglioni and they were all good - nothing special. The service was beautiful! The waitress accommodated our requests well. It's definitely a lively restaurant, so I wouldn't recommend it for intimate dinners. read more
Overall meets the hype with some cracks. I'd only go out of my way to go back with a bigger group. It's very lively, we had a reservation on a Friday and they still had us waiting for a table inside then we were time checked. Not a nice feeling when you're spending nearly $100/pp in total. The vodka pasta and the fett'unta bread were our standout dishes. The kale salad also good, meatballs and pizza are standard although I do like the cracker thin pizza. read more

I have really mixed feelings about Ospi. The food was okay overall. The provolone was a standout super flavorful & probably my favorite thing we ordered. I had the Spicy Rigatoni, which was solid but not amazing. The raschiatelli was delicious. One of the servers who recommended the pizza was very kind & helpful. Service was efficient, but we noticed our table wasn't checked on very often. Our server was polite, but mostly came by to take our order, clear plates, & bring the check (which we had to ask for). We did notice other tables receiving more frequent check-ins, which stood out to us. What really impacted the night was the atmosphere. It was Valentine's Day & very packed, but beyond that, the overall energy felt uncomfortable. We received multiple prolonged stares while waiting and even while seated. It wasn't the typical "busy restaurant" vibe it genuinely felt unwelcoming at times. Dining out should feel enjoyable & relaxed, but instead we felt self-conscious & out of place. That's not a great feeling when you're just trying to have a nice dinner. I might consider going back on a quieter weekday to see if the experience feels different, because the food itself was good. But the overall atmosphere made it hard to fully enjoy the evening read more

Tldr: its yummy. Kale salad, fresh. Beef tartare, good. Spicy rigatoni, flavorful. Meatballs, good. I visited this place during my visit to LA and Ospi did not disappoint! Our server was super helpful when helping my bf and I, and we ended up ordering most of what he recommended! I wished i could remember what his name was. We got the kale salad, and according to our server, it was the best salad he has ever had, and it was!! The almond dressing and parmigiano combination was very light and nutty, without overpowering the fresh taste of the kale. The beef tartare was a surprised bc i was not expecting it to be on toast, but it was super good! I was told that the vodka pasta was what Ospi was famous for, and it lived up to the hype! It was spicy, creamy, and flavorful. The Neapolitan meatball was juicy, and the tomato sauce was nice and tangy and not too salty. read more

The parking situation is rough around here so I'd come a little bit early to find a spot. Other than that, this place was solid. Everything came out pretty quickly and was really tasty. Our server Kyle was the BEST, can't thank him enough. Would definitely come back because of how good the service was and how great the food tasted. read more
OSPI IS FIRE. Came during their apertivo hour and the menu is perfect. Tried the cocktail flight and these pours are generousssss. Crispy provolone, kale salad and that ricotta toast will have us coming back again and again. Especially at that price range it's amazing!! Love that you can see them making the pasta and pizza dough, ambiance is 10/10. Service was informative and very kind! Made us feel special. I finally got to visit the famed Italian restaurant in Venice that I've heard so much about. I made a reservation the day of and wow was I glad I did. When I walked up at 8:30 p.m., there was a group of people waiting outside in the cold. With what I saw, I recommend making reservations if you plan to go at night even on a weekday because this was on a Thursday. The Spicy Rigatoni was cooked al dente and had the perfect bite. It wasn't that spicy to me so I added chili flakes on top to give it the kick that it needed and it elevated the vodka sauce. If you're also a spice lover like me, just ask for some on the side. I didn't know what a Cannelloni was until this day but I loved it. It's essentially a tubular lasagna that's stuffed and baked. The one I ordered was generously filled with tender pieces of lamb neck and pine nut. I don't know if this was a crime but I even dunked it in some of the vodka sauce from the rigatoni and it made it even better. read more

It's been three years since my visit, but I feel compelled to finally write this review -- sometimes letting time pass shows you just how much you truly cherish certain memories. Back in 2022, I made a regular reservation at Ospi for my birthday with a party of about ten. I don't know if she still works there, but Tara went above and beyond by surprising us with a private room. Every year on my birthday, I still think back to that dinner -- not only because the food was incredible (some of the best in LA) & the portions were super filling, but because the experience was unforgettable. How difficult it is to find parking?
Can be difficult depending on day of the week, and time of day. There are parking lots and street parking nearby but it can get a little sketchy at night.
Is there a dress code?
There is no dress code but it is the kind of place where everyone tries to look sharp...

Really... even if I knew the answer, the soap might have changed. Just call the restaurant!
