Very fast and helpful! I went in to get a new prescription for contacts. Their online patient registration worked great because I was able to fill that out at home on my own time, and didn't need to show up early to fill out the same paperwork in person. I was able to call and schedule my appointments very easily. The staff was great & very helpful with explaining exactly what my insurance covered & didn't cover. And the doctor was great, and even explained some details about my prescription that I never knew about before. My trial contacts had to be special ordered & shipped, but they came sooner than expected...the next day. They were able to squeeze me in for a follow up appointment (to try the new trial contacts) within a few days of my first appointment. read more

It was our first time visiting Otay Ranch Eyeworks. My daughter needed an eye exam. She's 10 and was very nervous. Immediately upon entering we were greeted by friendly staff. They followed all Covid-19 precautions and we were seen right away. The staff are very professional and knowledgeable. They were patient with my daughter and made her feel comfortable and less nervous. The doctor was thorough and took the time to answer all my questions, which is always a plus. When it was time to pick out glasses, my daughter was given personal one-on-one assistance and was reassured to take her time to find the glasses that felt most comfortable and that she was happy with. No rushing which was great. It was a wonderful experience for both of us. I'm so happy I chose Otay Eyeworks out of the 20 providers our insurance approved. It was a perfect match! Their online scheduling is a joke. You make the appointment because it shows available, it tells you to wait for a confirmation, I didn't get one days after I scheduled it, show up to be told they can't see you. I tried was a couple of minutes after my scheduled appointment, the front desk person told me I could wait to see if their scheduled appointment from didn't show up. I was there on time, whoever was scheduled at the same time, and yet I was turned away. I've been a customer there for at least 5 years. I will never go back there. read more

I was there only 14 minutes late due to car issues. Still didn't cancelled my appointment but after all my effort when I arrived I was told that I had to reschedule my appointment. I had been a customer for several years and always been on time as a matter of fact I always had to wait for over 15 minutes before I could even service, and always had been patient and understanding. I believe the person that rejected me had no good customer service and couldn't care less about keeping me as a customer. I came in yesterday to get an eye exam, and I was very happy with their service. I was immediately greeted, and was taken care of right away. The doctor did tests on my eyes and was very friendly. After I received my results, Nicole helped me the rest of the way! She was definitely the cherry on top! She made me feel real welcome, and helped me narrow my decision down to one frame! I have been coming here for years, all the staff is nice and they have many contact and eyeglass options. They give you appointments right away and you are seen immediately. It was raining really bad the day I had my appointment. Usually my drive from work to the area where I live only takes 30 - 40 minutes. Otay Ranch Eyeworks is five minutes away from my neighborhood and had no reason to worry that I would not make my appointment if I left work with an 1 1/2 hours to make it. But that was not the case. The traffic was stop-and-go all the way to my appointment. It took me 1 hour and 45 minutes to get there and when I walked in almost 15 minutes late, the staff was very nice helpful and did not make me reschedule. Terrible customer service. I've been in twice, first time they were busy but I gave them a break. I waited 20 minutes with no help, so I left. Came back today 2 hours after they opened, they were not busy at all. After another 20 minutes of walking around i just thought well I guess I didn't have the right look and left. Had an appointment today to pick up reading glasses. As soon as I walked in the door I told stop and wait at the door and somebody will assist me. I waited about 10 minutes standing there at the doorway waiting to be attended. Well I was waiting to be attended a FedEx delivery driver open the door walks right by me and walk straight to the counter with packages and Hans them To the receptionist at the front desk and walked right back out. Finally somebody comes to attend me if she wants to take my temperature , I said "stop there, I'm just here to pick up my glasses. They want to take my temperature I understand that you're Trying to be safe but when somebody just walks right in there and did not get his temperature Taken and material it's exchange between employees , that picture doesn't seem right. How many businesses does the FedEx driver Visit every day? If you're going to be safe you need to do it across-the-board everyone that walks through your front door should have their temperature taken don't discriminate between me and the delivery driver. I expressed my frustration and the receptionist said was that it was OK because FedEx drivers get tested every day and I replied , "I don't think so " instead of being apologetic and recognized the mistake it almost seems she was being argumentative so with that said , I said "you know what keep my reading glasses I don't need them " so I walked out with the intention of never going into that business again ! wow incredible. read more

I had gone to regular eye places like LensCrafters before. I figured that all these places work the same. This time around after visiting LensCrafters I felt like I wasn't getting what I needed. Especially from the doctors. So I found Otay Ranch Eyeworks on google maps and saw it was close to home. I stopped in and the place felt more inviting than your usual optometrist office. Pets were welcome and I happen to have my dog that day. The girls up front were extremely helpful and patient through the process of trying on every frame. I felt like they were really honest with me about which glasses were better suited to my face instead of pushing me toward the more expensive corners. I have nothing but great things to say about the girls up front. They were amazing to work with. DR. Elias Toubia, also a wonderful Doctor. Down right honest about my options and when I was ready to pay extra for EVERYTHING to make sure I got what I needed who walked me through everything anyway to make sure I was getting what was cost effective and what I needed. Went here for my annual exam and placed an order for 2 boxes of contacts back in October. I recently called the office as I realized I never received a call that they had come in. Carlos advised me that they had returned my contacts to the manufacturer to avoid having them sit there for months, protocol I guess. He also advised that they had tried to reach me twice by phone call, but not once did I receive it. I was curious to see the validity of his claim and pulled my phone records, and NOTHING!!! No calls from their office on either of the two days he stated were noted in his file. So now.. "all he could do" was place another order and they should be in, in 2-3 business days. TERRIBLE customer service... and will never go back here again! read more

One of the ladies said to me we start locking up all the glasses an hour before we closed. I just turn around and left. Pros: convenient location, lots of parking, large office, many high end frame options Cons: expensive, customer service Came in last Sunday afternoon, to only purchase some frames. Young lady who helped us out in the front was very friendly and helped us out right away. The issue came when another girl interrupted and made a big deal about nothing. Long story short we were miss informed by their sister store (which is perfectly fine, it happens) & we ended up paying more than expected. Not saying all the front staff was rude just that one girl. I would recommend some customer service training for her or maybe give her Sunday afternoons off to chill out. Note to girl at front desk: When dealing with unsatisfied customers don't give them attitude, and don't focus on what you CAN'T do. As I left their store I felt ripped off, therefore I called their sister store to make sure she knew what she was doing. I received a perfect explanation and felt much better about the transaction, just felt bad for future customers headed her way... read more

This place is ridiculous. They are way overpriced. I'm a person that researches before I purchase and in this case im very happy I did. I went to an Oakley store and found a pair of prescription glasses. MSRP was $240. Came to Otay Ranch eye works and they were charging me $290. After insurance and what not the total came out to $350! And I would have to essentially wait a month for my glasses. Went to LensCrafters with my prescription in hand, let them know what I wanted and the total was $178.63 (with the frames that I wanted). And keep in mind LensCrafters isn't covered by my plan. read more
