I'm another Wow guy. I had done a random Google search for this place and ended up curious after seeing the high ratings. I have to admit, it was spot on. The sushi quality here was super high. It's hidden in a small mall right before getting to 595 on the west side where the McDonald's is located off of University. I had the asparagus tempura that comes with the yum yum sauce. The name says it all as I could put that sauce on everything imaginable and make everything yum yum. They do allow you to set the level of spice on certain dishes, level 2 is a good level of spice, 5 might be burning hell hot. My spicy avocado roll was a huge hit. The spice steak salad is also a great dish. Service was above average, prices were where they should be and the restaurant has it's unique vibe that just plain works. I would highly recommend. They just opened about 2 months ago as of this review and you may want to try them now before anything changes. read more

Best sushi I've had in a long time. The staff was friendly and attentive. Cocktails were refreshing and good. For appetizers we had spicy tuna crispy rice and it was good, only a little spicy, nothing water couldn't take care of. my SO had the Octupus salad was really good! Overall, I would recommend this to anyone and will be back sooner rather than later. read more

I just moved to Florida and I would have to say that Otoro is the best sushi establishment I have dined in and I'm so glad I found this gem. Great atmosphere, classic, simple and the food is very well prepared. I ate sushi in Japan so I know my sushi very well. read more

I wanted to try a different sushi place instead of my usual so decided to try Otoro. I read the reviews, plus it's only 5 mins away from my place. The pictures looked really good and was hoping for a great experience. This was a to-go order and we ordered the top 7 sushi rolls. When I went in to pick up, I was greeted by a young man at the door. The place looked nice from the inside. He took my name and my order was right next to him. It was packed in a large paper bag. My first thought was, this is packed pretty tight for 7 rolls. I asked was everything in there and he said the "back" usually takes care of it. When I got home, I was disappointed in the packaging. All the sauces were all over the top cover of the packaging. It was literally a "mess" with all 7 rolls. I believe if the rolls were placed better and in more than 1 paper bag, the presentation would have been better. Despite the packaging, we were excited to try the rolls. The rolls were just "mid" in my opinion. Nothing really too special. Of course I am comparing to my usual sushi place. From what I saw, it really took me nowhere. To me, the presentation dictates how it will taste and what mood it will take me. I hope the staff is trained better on how to put things together for a take out order. Based on the presentation and how the food tasted, I will not come back. read more

We went here for dinner recently based on all the positive reviews & enjoyed it-- the atmosphere was warm and stylish, the food was excellent, and the service was superb. Our waiter, Shawn, was super attentive to our needs and very friendly. We had sushi and the chicken salad (which is really Nam Sod for those of you who know Thai food :). I'd like to have gotten larger portions of the sushi given the higher price points, but overall it was a really nice experience. We'll be back! read more

It's new and a nice presence and good service. With that said DON'T order the 3-way Sashimi @$45. It's super overpriced for 12 very small and micro thin slices of 3 types of assorted fish. Unhappy! Not going back as I can have 9-12 slices of better sashimi and much larger pieces even coming with salad with rice for in the 20's. In general, I'm not and have no reason to go back there again. read more

I understand that service is a big percentage of anyone's review but taking in huge consideration that this restaurant just opened, pandemic continues to be a problem amongst restaurants and finding good help this restaurant exceeded my expectations. Food was on point, rolls were amazing and even though it was somewhat a little under wait staffed, the service was good. The ambience was good and the decor was modern and sophisticated. Sandy, owner, made a point to visit every table to make sure that everyone seated was taken care of. Jelena, server, was somewhat a little overwhelmed but was very attentive and serviceable with everyone but overall she was great and professional. Definitely we will come back as it was a great food experience. read more

Wow! We live in Fort Lauderdale and have struggled to find a sushi restaurant that has consistent quality food and service. Otoro had both! The sushi is top notch and was very fresh. So many unique rolls to choose from. We had three rolls and the rock shrimp which was also delicious. We also loved the fun sake cocktails! I highly recommend this restaurant and can't wait to come back! read more

DO NOT order from this place. Now the second time in the last month we order from them and they obviously can't follow simple directions. Twice we were missing a whole roll order for my kid. Twice we asked for certain changes to the rolls and they still can't do it right. Plenty of other places for sushi and Otoro just lost a regular customer. Too bad I can't leave 0 stars! read more

I recently visited & had a rather mixed experience. The service was unfortunately quite poor. The staff seemed disinterested and inattentive, which significantly detracted from the overall dining experience. We had to wait an unusually long time to be greeted. The crab rangoons came out cold, not what you expect when you're looking forward to a warm, crispy appetizer. However, there was a silver lining to our meal. The Ube flan was excellent. It was smooth, creamy, and had just the right amount of sweetness. If it weren't for the delicious Ube flan, the visit would have been a complete disappointment. Overall, while the Ube flan is worth a try, the poor service and cold rangoons. We had to also send a roll back that was quite underwhelming.
