I was very pleased with this experience. We were served with great attention and helpfulness. The décor is minimalist and modern with some Asian touches. From the menu, we chose: - Ari Tuna Crispy rice $14.00 (very tasty, the rice is perfectly crispy); - The Zen roll $10.00 (tasty, but I didn't really notice the mushroom flavor; it is better with soy sauce and wasabi); - Curry Udon $20.00 (the fried chicken is simply delicious; the size of the dish is well worth the price). All dishes arrived quickly, and the service was excellent.

Grabbed a quick lunch here before flying out of the airport and it was SO good! Some of the best tasting sushi I've had honestly. It was all such smooth, flavorful & melt in your mouth sushi. Such a fantastic spot! Highly recommend.

Had a nice Valentine's Day lunch here with my honey. Our food and drinks were delicious! I ordered the lavender margarita and my bf ordered a sake Long Island ice tea. My drink was very smooth and tasted like a yummy lavender lemonade. As for food I ordered the surf & turf roll and my bf ordered the ribeye with wasabi chimichurri. My roll was very good and the steak was cooked perfectly. We both loved the wasabi chimichurri. We also ordered the tempura cheesecake for dessert. Everything was delicious and I loved the restaurant design with the pretty lit wall behind the sushi bar. I would love to come back and sit at the sushi bar.

First thing is first, I went here specifically to try the Bang Bang Noodles based on all of the rave reviews and found out when I got there that they took it off of the menu. Not sure why, but the table next to me wanted to order that as well. Seems odd to take such a popular item off of the menu, but none the less, I proceeded to order some sushi. The waitress was very friendly and fast. The rolls came out extraordinarily quick. I had the kamikaze, tsunami, and cucumber skin roll. All of them were food but the Tsunami was definitely my favorite of the three followed by the kamikaze. The kamikaze had dried salmon skin inside which I really liked and gave it a great texture with a light crunch. The ambiance is modern, cozy, and very clean.. All of the staff were very nice and overall service was spot on. Although I wasn't able to get what I came in for, it was still a good experience. Hopefully the Bang Bang Noodles find their way back in the menu at some point. But either way I would eat here again.

I didn't post this right after my visit, so I don't remember every menu detail. What I do recall is that while the service was fantastic, the food itself didn't quite meet my expectations. I've been to similar sushi spots where the quality was noticeably better, and for the price here, I was hoping for more of a "wow" factor. On the positive side, the drinks and atmosphere were both great, and the overall vibe was enjoyable. If I were rating just service, drinks, and aesthetics, I'd give it a 4. Unfortunately, the food quality brought my overall rating down.

I ordered the tsunami roll and it had a proportionate amount of rice and toppings in my opinion, it wasn't just a roll with a bunch if rice. The fish was fresh and smooth with a crunch from the shrimp tempura and I love a best of both worlds in texture. The edamame was chili garlic flavored and it was really good. It had a spice to the traditional edamame which I really liked. The ube flan was smooth and somewhat thick, I wish it had a stronger ube flavor, but nevertheless, it was still very tasty. The pandan creme brulee was very soft and reminded me of a mousse but I was able to taste the pandan flavor. The service was nice and he checked on us regularly. The ambiance and setup was nice and there weren't many people as we came in around noon when they opened. Overall, great experience!

Pretty restaurant, albeit smaller inside than it looks online. Good service and a great value with the Happy Hour menu. The food was super fresh although lacking a bit flavor wise, and presented very nicely. Had the Crunchee roll (meant to get the Yummy), calamari and lychee martini that gave me big apple juice notes on the tongue. Not opposed to trying other items but not pressed to return based on this taste. I implore you to explore as it is nice.

Absolutely fabulous. I am a sushi and fresh fish fanatic. I am delighted when there are fresh takes. And Otoro rings the bell. I had a salmon aburi roll that had three types of salmon. The spicy salmon inside was fantastic. The ikura (egg) on top was perfect and added the right level of saltiness. The cooked salmon on top would have been better raw, but still great. Then, because of the other reviews, I had the shrimp fried rice. Normally I would not order that. But I am so glad I did. The flavors were great. I do not know what sauce the shrimp were in, but I could eat it all day. The rice was the right level of crispy. My wife and I realized that while you could have a big meal here, the portions are so big that it is possible to share two dishes, eat in a reasonable amount of time, and walk out feeling great for under $50. We will surely be back. I loved the cool interior and the waitstaff was helpful and friendly. Highly recommended.

If I could give this place 100 stars I would. My mom and I did the omakase experience, which you had to call ahead of time and reserve so the chef was able to prepare ahead of time. They take a $50 per person deposit at reservation and the experience advertises itself as $175/pp for 14 pieces. This experience was less like your traditional omakase sitting in a room with eight other people are watching the chefs, and more like a private chef dinner. My mother and I sat at the sushi bar, right in front of Chef Jimmy. Our server, Matthew, introduced and greeted himself, and took away every plate immediately upon completion. Chef Jimmy was so happy to meet us and incredibly personable. He asked us all about Miami, our travels, our favorite sushi, and other omakases we have experienced. He was so thankful and grateful that we were there, and we even took a shot of nice whiskey with him! The restaurant does not have a full bar but he has it behind the sushi counter and will offer to buy you a shot. Now - let's talk food. This was one of the best omakase experiences I have ever had. First of all, I almost had to stop the chef from bringing food out - I was SO FULL. In most omakases you're usually given one piece of nigiri per fish - here they give you at least two of almost everything, and there were way more than 14 courses. We said "oh my god wow" after eating every single bite. The creativity and sauces were amazing, and there was so much caviar and uni involved in the pieces that I simply could not believe my eyes. In the end you get two full size, huge desserts that we could seriously only take one bite of. In terms of the omakase my favorite dishes were the toro box, the king crab, the langostinos, the wagyu, and the ama ebi. But truly - I can't decide and I cannot wait to go back. It's an hour and fifteen minute drive for us to get here, and worth EVERY MINUTE.

Service: 5 stars Food: 2 stars Service was quick and amazing! David was great! He was really friendly, great quick conversation about UFC fights. Told him the meaning regarding the shirt I was wearing. He was helpful grabbing a high chair for my daughter. He came back multiple times to check on us and asked how the food was. I ordered the dumplings ($12) for my daughter. It was originally pan-fried, I asked David if they could just steam/boil them and they were able to do so. Very accommodating! The dumplings were meat heavy and the wrap was thin and on top it was thicker (LOVED that). It looks like they dumplings were made in house. There was a ponzu sauce that was already on the plate. It was very heavy on the vinegar. I like tangy ponzu but not overpowered by vinegar but more with citrus (lime, lemon, yuzu). The meat wasnt as flavourful, bland meat, didnt have any veggies or spices to it. My daughter wasnt a big fan, so I ordered an easy roll that couldnt taste bad, the avocado roll! Simple roll, it was decently priced on the kids menu for $7. The avocado wasn't perfectly green, there were a few brown spots in it, maybe we came too early on Monday and it was leftovers from the previous night? The chef could've been a bit more detail oriented and taken those parts out of the avocado for better presentation. I ordered the cucumber skin roll ($14) which had Crab, Salmon, Tuna, and Avocado. I love cucumber rolls since theyre refreshing and usually order two of them. I'm glad I only ordered one to try it out first. I was surprised to see the word, crab instead of krab on the menu. When I ordered I was thinking it would be real crab but just a tiny bit since it's expensive and the roll was priced on the lower end. I was wrong. The dish came out, it was just regular imitation krab. The tuna came out minced, I did not like it. It was really really fishy. Im not usually a tuna gal but I'd still eat it in my sushi rolls. The tuna again tasted like it was yesterday's leftovers being used. The presentation with the cucumber skill roll was really pretty. When I left, David and a lady up front said good-bye. Service is great. Decor was modern and cozy. I was really looking forward to this sushi spot since it's highly rated on yelp and a few of my friends and husband wanted to dine here. Maybe it was just an off Monday morning for them.

I dined in with my daughter for lunch and it was not too busy but there were a few other couples dining so the food did not take too long to come out. This was by far the freshest and best tasting sushi that I have ever had. I thought the prices were reasonable for the quality. I think that I like this place for special occasions and not for my weekly sushi fix.

First visit here. Nice ambiance, great service (thank you Isabella) and delicious food. We had the Coconut Soup, Kani Rangoon, Curry Udon and Tsunami Roll. The only thing that wasn't great was the Rangoon. The ratio to filling and dumpling was way off. Also, the filling was not thick and every bite it would pour out on to the plate. I will absolutely return and try other items on the menu.

A few people have told me about this sushi place, and I am so glad I finally tried it!! The food is divine--some of the freshest sushi (especially if you are a nigiri lover), at a great price point for its quality. The nigiri was so yummy, I ordered a second order. I had the salmon belly, the hamachi (yellowtail), ikura, and the kampachi. All of the fish is incredibly fresh and the presentation is beautiful. I love sitting at the sushi counter where you are able to watch the sushi chefs work their magic. If you are a toro lover, they have a whole toro nigiri section. The restaurant is clean, and gives a warm vibe, while remaining sleek. They also have great sakes.

Came here for a dinner with my friends after our hair appointment. We were told that service isn't that attentive but we didn't have that issue at all. We were seated immediately and waited on promptly. As we weren't ready yet, our server gave us some more time. He was very attentive and came over to check on us. Dear Diary, It has been 22 hours since we had dinner at Otoro and I just can't stop thinking about how amazing every single bite was. The staff was so kind and attentive. Aside from the bartenders making a mistake and putting liquor in my mocktail which they were quick to fix I have zero complaints. We plan to come back for the 15 course and also happy hour. This place was fantastic. We sat at the sushi bar and the first thing I need to say is JIMMY!!! The owner/sushi chef behind the bar really set the tone for the night. He was so excited and energetic, happy to see us, and have conversation. He gave us these delicious otoro spoons on the house and it really set the bar high for how amazing to food to come was to be. We were immediately impressed and ordered the 12 piece nigiri sushi moriwase and I think this may have been better than some omakasi I've been to. Every bite was a delight and we finished the night with an otoro and truffles piece that was as buttery and melty as you would ever dream. The restaurant is super cool and I wish we could have ordered dessert but we ran out of time. Sit at the bar and have a great experience, especially if Jimmy is around. read more

I have come here a few times and always leave amazed, with my tastebuds satisfied, remembering the taste of fish in Japan. This place offers delicious fish at a fair price. Without making the flight to Japan, I love that I am able to taste some of the same freshness here in OC. The service is polite and the ambiance is intimate. I am giving the manager a big 0. My friend became flushed and her heart rate went to 100 after a couple sips of a lychee martini. We ate our appetizers and a such roll but she wasn't feeling well. When the bill came we asked if they could remove the martini that was sitting there full. They had to call the manager for an okay. She said NO after we had already waited 30 minutes. First she said she was coming down from the nail salon she also works at. But then just phoned and said no. The bartender was so sweet and apologetic even said not to tip him. We did tip him because he was great but the manager sucks. The manager said she could give it to us in to-go cup. Ummmm I think that's illegal. Needless to say the food was great but we will not be going back for this reason read more

3rd visit last night, so I can write a review with a little confidence that it will be accurate. Once again, great fish and service. One of the few places in Western Broward with quality fish. The otoro and hamachi are the stars. Start with spicy edemame and a salad and then dig into the sashimi. Never have tried anything other than the sushi and sashimi. Nice pours of saki. Will you pay more for the quality, yes. Well worth it to savor the buttery fish. Will be back there soon. read more

We had some great edamame and home made dumpling appetizers followed by a rainbow sushi roll and an assortment of Nigiri. While service was fantastic and quality of the fish was great, the rice missed the mark. When it comes Nigiri, the rice is just as if not more important than the protein. The sushi rice was unfortunately on the cold side and not seasoned. If you enjoy rolls and other dishes, Otoro would likely do very well with these but the Nigiri was lacking. read more

All sushi lovers--tap in! I stumbled upon this hidden gem, and it did not disappoint. From the warm ambiance and great music to the exceptional customer service, I knew I'd found the right spot. I ordered the Dancing Unagi and Prawn Tempura rolls, and both were absolutely delicious, especially with a glass of wine on the side. Amazing food. Beautiful place, such a romantic, perfect for a date night or chill happy hour. The service was great, servers are very attentive. We came across this place while looking for a place to eat before going to the Broward Mall. It happed to be happy hour and the prices were great. Their $5 JB roll is such a great value, you get a full size roll that its filled with cream cheese, salmon and avocado. It's honestly pretty filling. The shishito peppers are so fresh and a great portion for sharing. My fiancé ordered the pepper steak that comes with jasmine rice. It was a big portion, looked and tasted amazing! We both weren't previously fans of sake but their sake drinks are amazing! The lychee martini is so smooth and tasty! This last visit was my 3rd or 4th visit. Even though I have enjoyed the food every time, I sometimes forget they are there. They are in the middle of a strip mall and located by some of my favorites but we don't head to this plaza often. Anyway - we were looking for a place to eat near our hair dresser and we didn't want pizza. We decided to introduce Otoro to our daughter. She is just starting to like sushi and although she was apprehensive with what I ordered she was happy that they made her a salmon skin roll (we always add cream cheese and for the first time ever you could see the cream cheese - she said it was her new favorite place to go). Salmon skin rolls are not on the menu but they did make it for her and it was DELICIOUS! We also ordered the fried asparagus. My daughter tried asparagus for the first time there and loved it. It isn't heavily battered and it was perfectly cooked. We also had a tempura prawn roll, g14 and some spicy edamame- which my husband ate. It was too spicy for us. My husband had a noodle dish with chicken which he liked. Service as usual was wonderful and friendly. The restaurant was clean and we didn't feel rushed or feel like we wouldn't make our appointments as timing of the food was perfect. Looking forward to our next trip! read more

I think this place might simply not be a choice of mine but others could have a different experience. The staff is extremely friendly. They were able to sit me down on a Friday night. It was a little packed for the amount of space there is which is expected for a Friday night. The service was a bit slow since it was pretty packed. I only ordered an appetizer and left after. Order: O Tartar 3/5 * the portion was small which is okay and the taste was okay as well. Overall, the place was okay. I didn't stay long because it was so busy. I do however really appreciate the nice staff. read more

Every city needs local spots that get it right. The atmosphere is casual, service spot on, food executed flawless. Staff members made a point to seek our table out and welcome us. You don't always get that in south Florida. The coconut soup is the perfect size to start things off. I recommend everything we had, the soup and the scallop handroll with caviar stood out. I would try both your first time in. They have an omakase menu that we'll be trying soon. Lucky to have a spot like this less than a mile away. It would be worth the drive if it were further though. read more

That being said here are my top favs: Bang Bang noodles - I do not know why or how, but these semi spicy noods were delicious. Little bits of meat in a delicious savory/sweet/spicy sauce, I get it every time. Scratch Dumplings - these suckers are LOADED and have so much flavor, I cannot get enough, worth every penny. Lychee Martini- reminds me of the days when I lived on a Caribbean island and my favorite restaurant used to serve these, the taste is almost identical and the lychee it comes with... FAB. LOVE IT. Sushi/Sashimi - uhhhh-mazing! So fresh, buttery, soft, GREAT FLAVOR. The salmon just melts in your mouth. Favorite sushi place so far! I just wish they had more variety of rolls! I ordered today one order of fried rice with chicken, one crispy Brussels sprouts, and one order of pepper steak to pick up and bring to a friend who had surgery yesterday. I was very embarrassed when she opened up the containers and there was so little amount of food inside. I paid $20 for the pepper steak and there was less than a cup of food in the container. The amount of rice was ok, the sprouts were also almost invisible. I know things are expensive. STAY AWAY!! It's actually very unfortunate and probably due to incompetence of the manager but I have to leave the honest review. Me and & my fiance went there few times and got some stuff to go &really liked the quality, but today we had a TERRIBLE experience. We ordered sushi like always - which was good but substantially worse than usual which was a surprise. We ordered udon curry and that was a pure disaster - it was like udon drenched in sour&spicy coconut milk and side of.. something that was supposed to be katsu chicken. Not sure what kind of rat meat was that but that thing didn't taste nor looked like chicken. I thought it was pork (which we don't eat) because never tasted chicken like that. The manager called us after her investigation and she said it was a chicken thigh that's why it doesn't taste normal. Well.. highly disagree with that. On top of that she was just unprofessional, uneducated & rude - basically ignored the issue we brought up like we have no idea what we are talking about and if we want a refund for the dish we need to drive back 40 minutes and bring the whole udon curry back to them - yes she really did say that. We weren't trying to get anything for free, as a matter of fact we threw it out and only ate bit of it and mostly just ate the sushi. Safe to say we wouldn't bother to go back there to get anything from there and we won't be coming back. I've been one too many times and it is a great addition to the Plantation area. You don't have to drive to FTL to get quality sushi and an omakase experience. The service is good the food is good and a great quick date night option. It's usually packed and a wait is inevitable but if you're walking in, then you should expect a wait. The O-toro chips. The specialty nigiris are my go tos. I hardly ever order the plated dinner options so, I can't comment but the rolls are average but to fulfill a sushi date night close to home it's a green check in my book. read more

We just had our most fulfilling, memorable meal on our 8 day trip to Florida at Otoro Sushi + Asian Kitchen in Plantation FL. The food was amazing, had the Hamachi Carpaccio, Kampachi Carpaccio, Chirashi Don, and the kids had udon and California roll. Desserts were phenomenal, we had the Pandan Crème Brûlée and the Ube Flan. Food was top notch but the proprietors Jimmy, Paula, and their daughter Tina were exceptional hosts. Very engaging, kind, and made you feel like part of the family. They saw our 8 year old boy basically licking the bottom of the dessert plate, so chef Jimmy gave him another Pandan Crème Brûlée, free of charge! They introduced us to their regular customers and shared a Hennessy toast to celebrate the New Year and the recently engaged couple. Firstly, the service is great, albeit a little slow. I went here on a Sunday afternoon and there were two other tables and I was eating by myself. I got water immediately but there wasn't another server to take my order for at least another 10 mins. Which, for me, is fine. I wasn't in a rush, but keep this in mind for yourself. The menu options are not for the sushi elite. There are some great cuts of fish and everything is super fresh but most rolls are fried and more for the beginner sushi goer or the sushi goer who is not as experienced or daring. The cuts of sashimi themselves though are so fresh and so delicious. If you're ready to splurge, go ham on their otoro and fatty cuts. Otherwise, I think this is a perfectly decent restaurant. Great local spot for Asian eats or sushi. Was here about a year ago when they first opened and ordered from their "Kitchen" menu. A few days ago came back and ordered from their sushi menu. I have to say a year later the ambience, food and service was consistent. It's located in a plaza with ample parking. It's bright and clean with a tasteful Asian decor. Plenty of indoor seating. **Vegetarian Friendly** I was excited to try this place based on the number of positive reviews - but was skeptical from a vegetarian perspective. For a sushi spot that has 20+ sushi options, and only one veggie option, that's a thumbs down to me. I understand sushi is made with fish...but something exciting beyond an Avocado Roll would diversify their menu. The Avocado Roll was your run of the mill avocado roll. The Brussel Sprouts were burnt and soaked in oil. The Veggie Dumplings were soggy and cold. The Bang Bang Noodles are tasty if you enjoy a heavy peanut flavor sauce. Personally, as a vegetarian/vegan, you can make do for the night, but I would never select this as my first choice for a night out. read more

A refreshing view as soon as you walk in. They did a wonderful job designing the restaurant and bar. Love being able to see sushi being made from being seated anywhere inside. The sake was a great pairing to the acidic lemon and sweet sugar. I was amazed that it even had sake in it but you can taste it after a few sips. Absolutely refreshing and I definitely could have had a few. Loved the sashimi as a starter. The eel just made me so happy as it melted in my mouth while being topped with eel sauce. My boyfriend loved the tuna and enjoyed the yellowtail as well. I'm not a fan of yellowtail but it did look good. If you don't know what stir fry to get, please go for the sweet chili karaage chicken. We devoured it so fast with nothing left. The house-made sweet chili scallion MADE the dish. So good. Was a lovely little spot to go to on a date! The atmosphere was nice and it was not super crowded but had groups (couples and families) coming and going through our diner. Our server was was very attentive and gave great suggestions on what to have! Ube Flan was super yummy and great for sharing! It's hard to say what my favorite bite was between the kamikaze crunch roll (love me some good salmon skin rolls) and the lobster Hakozushi!! The other really notable and really appreciated thing was they asked my husband how cooked he's like his salmon and it came out perfectly. This is the second time I've been to Otoro Sushi & Asian Kitchen, and they always satisfy me with their very delicious dishes, especially the sushi, sashimi, and ramen. We have been coming here for a long time everytime we come is different prices things change. The shongon noodles are really good but the menu states that you could have either beef chicken or tofu for $19. If you want to add shrimp it's two dollars more they charged me four dollars more for four shrimps and I asked them. Why was it four dollars if the menu states two dollars and the manager not a good manager by the way said that if we have a protein already added and we had shrimp it's four dollars mind that doesn't say any of that in the menu and if you ask for the chicken to have teriyaki, it's six dollars more which the menu does not say that it's six dollars more to add a teriyaki sauce. Every time we come here is different prices and different charges. Be aware look at your receipt. read more

My daughter saw the drink menu of teas and drinks and asked for an orange drink. I inquired from the server whether it was okay for kids, had any milk, and whether it was a juice or not. He informed me it was a syrup and it was a good choice for a kid. Upon receiving the drink, I tasted it and it tasted very strongly of green tea. Not something I would give to a child, but I guess I didn't specifically ask that question. My daughter was highly entertained by the robot server with a cat face that delivered our drink order. We continued optimistically and ordered the Peking Duck Bao, the Pork Soup Dumplings, the Chicken Sanji and the Fried Noodles with Shrimp. The Peking Duck tasted severely microwaved and dry. The skin was soggy and not at all appetizing, and there was one tiny sliver of green onion in one of the three bao. The pork soup dumplings were nothing to write home about, but were good overall. The dipping sauce that accompanied the dumplings was delicious and definitely added some flavor to the dumplings. The Chicken Sanji was a thick skinned bao dumpling and something I was looking forward to trying. It was lacking in flavor and the texture was not my favorite. It was accompanied by the same sauce as the soup dumplings. The fried noodles with shrimp dish was disappointing. The shrimp was perfectly cooked but the noodles and veggies lacked in both flavor and texture. All the veggies were soggy, and the noodles were coated in a sauce that lacked any type of flavor. It was just... sad. My daughter was provided with some cute kitty kids reusable chopsticks that she did use, so that was something that added a little value to our visit. Our check was around $65 before tip, and I have to say we will not be back.

Everything arrived within 40 min, still hot. I ordered a ramen broth, an order of tempura shrimp along with the spicy yaki udon. The udon was not spicy at all, but very delicious. Not sure why it's referred to as "spicy", there was not a single sight of red or green chilies. I would have loved for it to have a kick of spice, but nevertheless, still delicious. The appetizer shrimp a fail, they did feel a bit chewy/ rubbery, and dry. This was not my favorite. The hot ramen broth was soothing and on a cool day like today, well worth it. I wish that my order had arrived with chopsticks, or some type of utensils. None were provided, not even napkins. And I was a little disappointed that no sauces were provided, not even for the noodles. Often times some oriental places will provide siracha or some type of chill sauce. Perhaps this places does not offer those condiments? I wish that I could have given this a 4, even 5 star, but ordering from a food service one would hope the meal arrived with at least chopsticks, or some napkins. If I visit the restaurant in person, I'll be sure to update my review then.

I recently visited & had a rather mixed experience. The service was unfortunately quite poor. The staff seemed disinterested and inattentive, which significantly detracted from the overall dining experience. We had to wait an unusually long time to be greeted. The crab rangoons came out cold, not what you expect when you're looking forward to a warm, crispy appetizer. However, there was a silver lining to our meal. The Ube flan was excellent. It was smooth, creamy, and had just the right amount of sweetness. If it weren't for the delicious Ube flan, the visit would have been a complete disappointment. Overall, while the Ube flan is worth a try, the poor service and cold rangoons. We had to also send a roll back that was quite underwhelming.
