Family of 5 was there for Easter Sunday Brunch! As always, food and service were impeccable!! A child had pancakes, eggs & bacon and every bit was eaten!! Adults ordered pancakes, Chilean bass with risotto & asparagus, eggs Benedict, & poached eggs with short ribs. All were super delicious, especially with the accompanying mimosas!! We had an event here - had a rented out space with the large dining room and the out door space. The outdoor area was super cute. The hourde voures were actually pretty good. The French onion soup was ok. The main course itself was ok- the braised beef was a little too salty. The lemon drop cocktail was pretty good but the mock tail passion fruit tea was quite bad in terms of its flavor. The dessert needs a little more work too. Went for a bachelorette dinner with 22 girls. The seating wasn't ideal as we didn't have enough arm room to eat. We had to ask several times to add another table. Aside of that, the food was actually really good, I enjoyed my steak and my friend said the Salmon was also good. read more

Last week I wrote a 5-star review of Ouisie's Table following a first in a long time visit to be a guest at a party given by group of which my wife is a member. As I said in that review the food was fabulous as was the service. So, two days later a family event called for a family dinner and I wanted to see if Ouisie's Table was as good on a second visit as it was on the first. Well, we were treated with all of the respect and 5-star service with which I had been treated with at the earlier visit. And again our dinners were delicious - really outstanding. So I truly believe that then next time I am at Ouisie's (and pray that it will be soon) there is no doubt that I and others with receive the same quality of food and service. My husband got the Houston restaurant week menu 8oz grilled new York strip and I got the fish roulade in passion fruit sauce special. I thought there would be more passion fruit flavor. The fish was ok. The beef was actually really tender and delicious. I definitely got food envy! read more

The service was great, our waiter was super kind, attentive, helpful and patient for our group of 9. The ambiance was super cute. Our drinks and desserts were fairly tasty as well. We tried the blood orange smash, the strawberry smash, carrot cake and lemon cheesecake that I would recommend. That's about it. I'm not sure if dinner would be different (we were there for brunch) but no one at our table was overly thrilled with the actual entrees, everything was correct and presented beautifully but everything just kind of lacked flavor overall. We didn't complain because everyone's order was correct and it WAS what we ordered but we didn't care for it unfortunately. The dinner menu is different so I'd consider trying them again, but not for brunch. It's priced comparatively to other restaurants in the area that are considered more upscale. read more

I enjoyed my appetizer while my friend enjoyed the wine they recommended and an appetizer!! We both enjoyed our entrees and even took some home! We each had to try the desserts which were fabulous!!! I ate here as part of a group of 7 for brunch. Service was relatively slow given the number of staff present, but precise when attention was given to us. We had to refill our own mimosas several times during the meal and had glasses removed before the carafes were empty. A few fruit flies bothered us while dining and the room itself felt super warm, though both trend as unavoidable here in Houston. Brunch seating on Sunday is accompanied by a skilled pianist who is forced to play on what sounds like an electric piano. I really recommend Ouisie upgrade their piano since that would really elevate the experience. Ouisie's allowed us to bring in a cake from H‑E‑B and even served it on a cake display for us. That was highly appreciated. The raw oysters were good. I do not eat oysters frequently so don't take my word for it. Presentation of the food was very nice across the board. I ordered the Ahi Tuna salad and it was the worst one I've ever had. There was something off with the fish or the seasoning. I could hardly eat it. If I wasn't so focused on increasing my protein intake/macros right now, I would have sent it back and asked for a refund. Everyone else at my table seemed happy with their meals-licking up crumbs of crab cakes off their plates. I'm still very confused about what went so wrong with the Ahi Tuna. Like, I have never ordered it at a restaurant before and not be able to even swallow. I finished through sheer willpower and by dousing it in balsamic vinegar. Overall, a lovely place for brunch with friends but I'm glad I didn't give the recommendation to go. None of us were gushing over our plates though the group could have been on the reserved side. Sadly, only a mid-tier dining experience. Let's start off with the good. I really liked like aesthetic of the place. It reminded me of having dinner at grandma's house. Very cozy. And the grandma part is accurate, the median age in there was like 65 years old. My girlfriend and I are in our 30's and 40's respectively and were easily the youngest kids in the joint. But I am not penalizing them for that, I rather enjoyed the vibes. The service was good, though nothing about it was exceptional. There's not much to say about that aspect. However, valet is not optional if you drive, there is nowhere to park onsite without valeting. That really really annoys me. There is PLENTY of parking right outside the door! Just let me walk the 10 yards to the entrance on my own please! I was unsure whether to go 4 or 3 stars for this review, and this definitely tipped me over the edge to 3. As for the food, it was alright. Nothing was bad. I love that they bring you three different types of bread. My girlfriend's tenderloin was good. The potatoes al gratin was the best I've ever had. The veggies were okay. I got blackened mahi mahi and can't complain about it. The problem is, nothing besides the potatoes blew my mind. And for at least $50 a person, I expect my mind to be blown. You can get away with okay food for $25 a person, but not for $50. I expect more if I'm paying more. read more

Amazing dinner this past week. From the food to the service to the atmosphere. Assorted muffins, then Short Rib Bruschetta (Grilled wheat sourdough, roasted peppers and mushrooms, poblano cream sauce), then Prime Rib with a loaded baked potato. I usually NEVER order dessert, but the selections on the tray were too good to pass up, especially after how awesome the other food had been, so the Tres Leches Cake (Sponge cake soaked in 3 types of milk with a vanilla whipped cream icing and strawberries) narrowly won out. Shout out to Farid, my server, who was AWESOME. The Manager also stopped by my table to ask how everything was, but he saw the look of enjoyment on my face and said "I guess I don't have to ask!". Cutest vibe for a Sunday brunch if you want to sip on mimosas while listening to live piano music. Place felt like an old Southern home that was remodeled to a restaurant. The pianist was the highlight of my lunch, playing a wide range of music and even the birthday song for one of my friends. Our group really enjoyed the oysters. It had just enough brine and ocean flavor, and paired well with the tabasco sauce. For entree, I got the Beef Tenderloin Burger. The burger was perfectly cooked to medium rare (as requested) and the bun was amazingly chewy with a nice crust. However, it was also a bit wet to be eaten by hand, and the fries weren't as crispy and I'd like. I came here to celebrate my birthday with five friends. After about 10 mins of sitting down, our waiter says he's coming to help us but he's not our waiter. Okay, what am I supposed to do with this information? It was a sign that it was going to be a long brunch. Signature prime rib was sold out. Asked for more bread, never got it. Water was never refilled the entire time. Appetizer order was messed up. They brought out 2 dozen oysters instead of one mixed. We were starving but I told my friends to wait they need to fix it or make sure they won't charge us. They took back a whole dozen. Lol I get it and not upset, but kinda gross. My friend's French toast was burnt. We just kept getting told they were busy but no tables were around us and nobody wanted to help the guy who was supposedly not our server. The bartender brought us our drink orders. Honestly the only pleasant part of the experience. My organization has had events here in the past, and I'm not sure why. read more

This was my first visit at Ouisies and I must say I will be back! Every single thing we ordered was a 5/5! They bring you 3 mini muffins as a starter (a cinnamon flavor, jalapeño cheddar, and cornbread flavor) and if you enjoy these flavors you will enjoy the muffins. For our appetizers we ordered spinach dip and crab cakes and they were both AMAZING! The crab cake was hot and fresh, the crust was perfectly fried and the crab was well seasoned. Same with the spinach dip, I really appreciate that it was well seasoned and I loved the pita chips that it came with. For my meal I ordered the Parmesan crusted trout with lump crab and it was DELICIOUS!! It was served with a lemon butter, herb sauce and cherry tomatoes. There was something about the way they marinated and seasoned the cherry tomatoes that sent the whole trout over the top! Everyone that I dined with mentioned that their food was amazing from the short ribs to the ribeye to the seafood crepe. For dessert we finished with the tres leches and hands down it's one of the best tres leches cake I have ever had. It was the perfect moisture and the perfect sweetness. Tried Ouisie's out during restaurant week and WOW!!! It was incredible. The restaurant week menu had 3 courses with several choices for each course. I chose the crab cake appetizer, beef medallions and pot-de-creme au chocolat for dessert. The ambiance was great, cool artifacts on the walls, not too loud even with it filling up (on a weeknight!) and accommodating some bigger parties. The menu was big, but not too big, overall and I would happily return - I've recommended to several of my friends and have heard only good reviews. Visiting Houston and found Ouisie's on Google. My boyfriend saw they serve paella and decided that's where we were going. The restaurant is beautiful, but we opted to sit at the bar. We ordered a bottle of wine and the bread service was brought. We were off to a good start. We ordered the oyster Rockefeller. They were ok. Nothing special. That's when we noticed that there was no music playing. Weird thing to notice maybe, but music always sets a vibe. Then we noticed how dark and uninviting the bar was. The back bar didn't have any lighting, the painting of the naked lady had a light, but the light was turned off. It's a nice bar, but without good lighting. Once again, the vibe seemed to be lacking. At last the paella Valencia arrived. Beautiful presentation with a purple flower garnish. But, this is in no way traditional paella. It has a few shrimp, which were nicely cooked, a couple of tiny clams, "Spanish chorizo" did not have the deep red color that it typically should, thin pieces of chicken, and very large pieces of practically raw bell peppers. A lot of bell peppers. The rice just tasted like bland yellow rice. Nothing special. Creme brulee for dessert was delicious. Service was decent. read more

We checked out this place after shopping in Highland Village. It was 2 pm on Sunday and no attendant at valet service $3. Two guys were busy pulling up cars for a line of guests and we decided to just park. There was plenty of spaces as it was kinda late for brunch. We were seated immediately in the main dining room where there was a fireplace, a piano and a red dress hanging inside a frame on the wall. Our waiter, forgot his name but he's from Algeria showed us the regular and #HRW menus. We got a Quitea (mojito minus the rum) and it was refreshing with passionfruit! They served complimentary mini muffin, cornbread and biscuit! Cornmeal pancake was served hot; maple syrup and crispy bacon bits complimented each other. I had eggplants and my gosh, the portion was huge. Essentially, it was 3 pieces of breaded eggplants stacked with red sauce sitting on a bed of spinach. Husband liked the salmon benedict but commented the potatoes were room temperature. Wish they were hot and not as dry. We had a late breakfast and ended up taking half of the portion away. Our waters were filled constantly. We saw a grey 'dog' sitting at the corner with 2 guests but the dog was super quiet and didn't move. We later learned that it wasn't a real one but it resembled Mrs. Ouisie's dog. Patrons can request to be accompanied by the dog when making reservation. The dog, if it were real, is considered a large dog like 60 lbs. This topic is definitely a conversational starter. I had my birthday brunch here. My first time in and it was perfect. There were 10 of us and we ordered several different entrees and they were all delicious, from shrimp and grits, to scallops, chicken and a huge salad. We also ordered cocktails that were fantastic. The service was excellent and the staff were friendly. They brought small plates and forks for the birthday cake we brought in and even lit the candles and cut the cake for us. Our wedding at Ouisie's Table went perfectly! We held our wedding ceremony outdoors in the Bear Garden and dinner/reception indoors in Lucy's Porch, with 52 guests total. The managers were extremely friendly and easy to work with. They were always happy to take our calls to answer questions, and they responded very quickly to our emails. They and their staff did all the heavy lifting to take care of details and make sure everything turned out the way we wanted. The food, cake (made at Ouisie's), and service were fantastic, and the venue was beautiful. My wife and I were aiming for a smaller, more tight-knit wedding with a focus on serving good food, and we got exactly what we wanted. The food at Ouisie's is impeccable. My girlfriend and I got the calamari as an appetizer (it's stated as grilled on the menu, but our waitress recommended ordering it fired and she was on the money), and for mains I got the Braised Short Rib Au Jus, and my girlfriend got the Blackened Salmon topped with Crab Relish. The food did take a bit long to come out, about 30 mins for the entrees, but there was a party of 10(?) right by us, so it wasn't much of a surprise. The calamari was outstanding. It came out nice and hot, the exterior was crispy and packed with flavor, and the calamari itself was cooked perfectly and was not chewy at all. It came in a plate of red onion, mushrooms, jalapeños, and what tasted of cilantro? A very excellent calamari dish. The Short Rib was delicious. The meat was braised perfectly, and was very tender on the fork. The cut wasn't too fatty, and the mashed potatoes served on the side were addictive. The Blackened Salmon looked beautiful coming out. My girlfriend said that the crisping of the skin was perfect. The general ambiance is very romantic, albeit a tad bit stuffy. It's an older crowd for sure, but being in River Oaks this doesn't come as a surprise. The live piano was great, but the song choices were comically odd (not a bad thing, who doesn't love Hello by Adele and the Harry Potter theme?). The waitstaff was extremely attentive, polite, and professional. They were also very generous with their wine pours. For dessert, do yourself a favor and get the Caramel Cheesecake. It reminded me of a small place I went to in Greenwhich Village, and after my espresso, was a perfect way to end the night. Our original restaurant ended up being a buffet so we changed our reservation and found Ouisie table last minute on Open Table. After much Yelp reading we decided to go here for Sunday brunch! We were pleasantly surprised with Everything!! On Sunday the parking was spacious, you don't need to valet but can park in different areas of the plaza. We were taken to our seat in a large room consisting of a pianist. Our waiter Carey was super friendly, helpful, and service was amazing! After reviewing the menu- I was happy to see mocktails since I'm not too much of an alcohol buff- I got the cucumber ginger mock tail and my husband got the coffee old fashion. There was someone walking around passing around small pieces of three different bread- cornbread, gingerbread, and a butter biscuit. The gingerbread was my favorite but they were delicious!! I ordered the vegetable paella and my husband got the brunch quesadilla. The food arrived quickly and looked gorgeous! I had to take a picture! The paella was flavored very well! I definitely enjoyed my meal. I tried my husbands potatoes that came with the quesadillas and it was delicious! Our waiter came by to check in on us and cleaned up a little bit of crumbs we made. Towards the end he brought us a half anniversary dessert on the house. Everything from The service, the ambience, and even the pricing was pleasantly surprising. The only reason I didn't give this place a 5 was since they didn't have as many vegetarian friendly options as I would of liked. From the moment I arrived I was welcomed with smiling and courteous staff. The service at the table was exceptionally attentive in spite of a busy lunch crowd. Unfortunately the Houston Restaurant Weeks lunch menu didn't have a vegetarian option but I settled on the eggplant Parmesan and I wasn't disappointed! The food came out quickly and hot! I loved the lightly crusted Parmesan on the eggplant which was thinly sliced and generously staked. Instead of serving it with a starch it was plated with spinach that was lightly seasoned. My friend had the shrimp and scallops with squash. I tried her squash which was heavenly. We shared the crème brûlée and thoroughly enjoyed it. Ouisie's table is a cute little place with ample indoor and outdoor seating. We liked that they had this pseudo inside/outside area where tables were well spread apart. It was pretty busy on a Friday evening, and it was hard to get a waiters attention. Finally we were seated and got to order. They start you off with different breads like jalapeño cornbread, which melted in your mouth. Based on the recommendation from the waiter, I got a martini which was incredible. For my meal, I got the Rainbow Trout which had a great blend of flavors and had some mashed potato's too. For my moms birthday, they also gave a chocolate cake! Overall, we loved the seating area. My first HRW lunch of 2020!! Not a bad experience. The place gives me a romantic, relaxed feel. I love the decor! Our server, Mona, was very courteous and efficient. We were seated in the back dining room with views of the adorable outdoor dining area. Here's what I chose for my lunch: First Course- Crab Cakes: These were okay. Crispy. I didn't like all the sauces on the side of the plate. I think a drizzle or smear would have done the job. Second Course- Petit Beef Tenderloin w/ Panko Crusted Shrimp: I asked for medium rare and it was medium well. Ehh, all good. At least it was not well done! I like the charred asparagus and cherry tomatoes. The mashed potatoes were a little bland. Not terrible, but not great. I should have gone with the Crabmeat filled Atlantic Salmon my gf had. It was yumm-o! This was a smaller entree than I had imagined, but combined with the entire meal, I was full. Third Course- Lemon Ice Box Pie: Tad too sweet for me. I was hoping for a more tart flavor. Doesn't matter. I ate it ALL :P And I appreciate the super fresh strawberry it came with. Anddd how could I forget the tasty jalapeño mini cornbreads?!! Reserved a private room for my sister's baby shower brunch on a Saturday afternoon. The customer service was AMAZING!!! I was able to reserve a room for 20 with seated service and a customized menu. The menu options for brunch were varied with an option for an entree as well as a dessert. I was also able to bring in my own decorations to set up prior to my event start time. However, I didn't much since the room was already decorated with holiday themed decor. Management was great! They came to check on us several times throughout our reservation. Only reason for the 4 stars was the taste of the food. Even though they had a variety of options for a pre-fixe menu as well as an awesome kids menu, the food lacked flavor. I had the Scallion Biscuits with Eggs, Bacon, and fresh fruit. The biscuit was dry and tough. Also, the chocolate cake was not very sweet and somewhat bitter. read more
