Reserved a private room for my sister's baby shower brunch on a Saturday afternoon. The customer service was AMAZING!!! I was able to reserve a room for 20 with seated service and a customized menu. The menu options for brunch were varied with an option for an entree as well as a dessert. I was also able to bring in my own decorations to set up prior to my event start time. However, I didn't much since the room was already decorated with holiday themed decor. Management was great! They came to check on us several times throughout our reservation. Only reason for the 4 stars was the taste of the food. Even though they had a variety of options for a pre-fixe menu as well as an awesome kids menu, the food lacked flavor. I had the Scallion Biscuits with Eggs, Bacon, and fresh fruit. The biscuit was dry and tough. Also, the chocolate cake was not very sweet and somewhat bitter. read more

Our wedding at Ouisie's Table went perfectly! We held our wedding ceremony outdoors in the Bear Garden and dinner/reception indoors in Lucy's Porch, with 52 guests total. The managers were extremely friendly and easy to work with. They were always happy to take our calls to answer questions, and they responded very quickly to our emails. They and their staff did all the heavy lifting to take care of details and make sure everything turned out the way we wanted. The food, cake (made at Ouisie's), and service were fantastic, and the venue was beautiful. My wife and I were aiming for a smaller, more tight-knit wedding with a focus on serving good food, and we got exactly what we wanted. My friend and I attended an HRW 3-course lunch, and enjoyed it very much! We've heard good things about Ouisie's Table, and we're excited that we finally got to go! I had the crab cakes, crab-stuffed salmon, and the pot de chocolat. All 3 courses were on the smaller side, but all were full of flavor! The salmon had a scrumptious crust baked into the skin, and the chocolate dessert was so decadent! The mini biscuit and mini cornbread served at the beginning of the meal was also very warm and tasty. Service was on point. I also ordered an HRW lunch to-go and everything was packed just right. I have been to Ouisie's Table once before for a friend birthday and it was a wonderful experience. So, I had to return when I saw it on the Houston Restaurant Weeks Menú. I began with the crab cakes which were wonderful. I mean, I could have eaten those alone and had been satisfied. For my entree I had the steak medallion with potatoes au gratin and roasted carrots. There was a wonderful arrangement of breads as well. By then I was so stuffed, I requested my tres leches to go. From the moment I arrived I was welcomed with smiling and courteous staff. The service at the table was exceptionally attentive in spite of a busy lunch crowd. Unfortunately the Houston Restaurant Weeks lunch menu didn't have a vegetarian option but I settled on the eggplant Parmesan and I wasn't disappointed! The food came out quickly and hot! I loved the lightly crusted Parmesan on the eggplant which was thinly sliced and generously staked. Instead of serving it with a starch it was plated with spinach that was lightly seasoned. My friend had the shrimp and scallops with squash. I tried her squash which was heavenly. We shared the crème brûlée and thoroughly enjoyed it. Went with a group of friends for HRW brunch. Let me start by saying the service was great! They were very attentive and amendable. The crab cakes were average and the dessert was fantastic. The pan seared salmon was a let down. It was advertised as being stuff with crab meat, but as you can see in the photo I attached, there was not even a teaspoon of crab meat! To Be Honest, the food was mediocre. And subpar. I believe that management needs a change. For starters. The initial comment I received would honestly be considered unacceptable for your business. I was greeted about a top I wore. Which to my honest belief, the comment was overall disgusting due to fact that I recognized women with their literal cheeks out. To my surprise that attire was deemed acceptable. Secondly there were about 15 nats & flies that invaded our area. I really felt mistreated and over all disappointed. We sat at a table that that didn't have place cards to scan the menu. Meaning we were passed a menu that had possibly been touched. Which means this restaurant willingly put my health at risk! I really believe due to the amount of nats maybe some of them may have touched our food. I am just in shock that a facility would have such rules about dress code would have standards that is deemed acceptable to have nats in the restaurant. I got HRW brunch curbside delivery from here and overall had a good meal and experience. - Crab cakes: really small, a little smaller than a golf ball, but tasty. I liked the corn relish and that you could add lemon, cocktail sauce, or tarter sauce to each bite. - Beef benedict with potatoes: the beef was juicy and the eggs were perfectly poached! I liked the addition of the veggies. The English muffin on the bottom did get pretty soggy so I'd suggest serving those in a separate container next time (Deconstructed benedict). The potatoes were crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, and had a nice garlicky flavor. - Lemon ice box pie: refreshing end to the meal! Good lemony flavor that had a nice tart/sweet balance - mini cornbread and biscuits: we asked for these after reading other reviews about them, and I recommend doing so! They're delicious and the mini size is so cute! Went to Ouisie's tonight with my sisters and Dad as I'm visiting from Los Angeles and we wanted to have a fun and delicious family dinner. It was so much fun. Everyone enjoyed their appetizers and meals. Between the the four of us we had fried oysters (the best), crab cakes (perfect), caesar salad, seafood gumbo (my dad loved it). Scallops (juicy and plump). The environment was fun and our server, Danny, and the whole team really know how to take care of their customers and make their parties feel special. Thank you, Danny! I have eaten at Ouisie's for many years. The food is always wonderful as is the service. Last night I tried a rather common dish and wanted to see how Ouisie's prepared it. Chicken Scallopini with herbed spaghetti. It was out of this world good. The sauce (maybe au jus?) it was served over was I imagine from pan drippings so it really had a great roasted chicken flavor. The herbed flavor of the spaghetti was perfect and not over seasoned. I can't stop thinking about it. For dessert I got the pumpkin cheesecake with candied pecans around it. Another winner. Can't wait to eat there again. I was there for lunch one time and the meatloaf was also out of the world. Not packed or dense, nice tender texture and the tomato-based sauce was perfect. read more

Even though all the servers wore masks and gloves during the services but social distancing is not practicing well since the restaurant is packed with customers. Years back when I worked in Greenway, my colleagues and I would often go to Ouisies Table with clients. When I found out my husband has never been, it definitely went on the list for our next date night! And it did not disappoint! From the service to the drinks to the ambiance to the food....a good time was definitely had! The relish included with Crab Cakes was the perfect bite to have! I am a self proclaimed aficionado of brussel sprouts...these will go on the Top 3 list for Houston. Full of flavor, soft inside yet still have a crunch outside and the grapes finish them off well! The salmon, fried shrimp and risotto was very fresh, seasoned well but not too much and the risotto was delicious and not too creamy or rich. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal! My husband had the lamp chops and he was very pleased with his meal! The ambiance...the gentleman playing the piano played such a variety of tunes it added a nice touch to date night. We'd planned to go to a lounge for drinks after dinner but didn't need to. Attended a wedding at the restaurant during the week, so not a normal dinner out. However this review will still be accurate. When you pull into parking lot they have valet service which is very nice. Restaurant is very nice looking inside and out. They have plenty of elegant seating along with a piano and of course a pianist. Although we had a condensed menu because it was a wedding reception we still had 3 options and they were all excellent. Short rib, trout and chicken and we each shared a taste with each other so we all could taste and see how amazing the food was. Service was excellent and the staff very very professional and served the table just like on Gordon Ramsey tv shows where the servers circle the table than set the plates at the same time to everyone. I came here for a girls night out/baby sprinkle dinner, and we had a great time. Service was attentive, and the food was great. I had the scallops, which I enjoyed, but there are several other seafood dishes that also caught my eye that I would be interested in trying next time. One of my friends in our group, who has been here several times, said that her favorite dish is the short ribs and that it is hard for her to order anything else because she is afraid it won't be as good! The restaurant wasn't super busy! Now our consistent waiter he did his best to help and try to fix any issues! Trinity University hosted a counselor update at Ouisie's and I was excited to attend because I had never heard of, let alone visited this place. They gave us the option of a soup of the day or a salad. The salad had mixed greens, walnuts, and a potato of some sort which I thought was interesting and different, but it tasted good. For our main course they gave us the option of the Grilled Gulf Red Snapper w/ Jumbo Lumped Crabmeat, Shrimp & Cheese Grits, or the Parmesan Crusted Chicken Breast. I wanted to try something new so I got the fish and it was very tasty. It came with brocollini and a vegetable risotto cake. To my surprise, the risotto cake was really good, but not delicious enough for me to want to finish all of it. The fish was flavorful and the crabmeat on top was a nice garnish. For dessert, we were given an assortment: Black Magic Cake, Lemon Ice Box Pie as well as Tres Leches. The Tres Leches was probably my favorite; it was moist and flavorful. The Lemon Ice Box Pie was good too. The Black Magic seemed like almost any other chocolate cake but I was happy they gave us a small tasting of each instead of making us choose one. Overall my experience at Ouisie's Table was great! Staff was courteous and thoughtful. Our glasses were never empty and the ambience of the restaurant was nice and quaint. I'll keep this place in mind next time I'm looking for a cute restaurant with great food choices. Delicious food, friendly service. Atmosphere is a little stale and interior is a little dated. I honestly felt like I was back in the early 1900s. We had a reservation and they were over booked and said it would still be a 30-44 min wait. They offered a drink for the wait which was nice. Despite mentioning the wait time they were still able to get us seated after a much shorter than anticipated wait. The food was delicious but I'm not dying to go back. The little cornbreads and muffins were my favorite part of the meal. Wine is priced decent too. read more

We've been going to Ouisie's for six years on Valentine's Day. We started with the Crab Cakes which is a definite favorite of mine. Delicious and just the right bite to get you started. I had the Red Fish Tacos and my husband had the Short Rib Benedict. Everything was tasty, not over cooked and came out rather quickly. We ended with a Blueberry Cheesecake, the perfect end to a great meal. Service was great, but my only qualm is the fact the menu did not match what we paid for. Well...not terrible, but not looking to return. We went out with a group of four on a Friday or Saturday night. AMBIANCE It's a lively atmosphere - they had a pianist playing, the place was loud and busy, almost too much so. It seems like the design of the main dining room keeps all the noise in. With everything going on, it was hard to hear our server and even the other people at our table. A (neat?) little touch they have is a large, porcelain dog that 'sits' in empty chairs around the restaurant - an homage to the owner's old dog that used to roam the place. SERVICE We had two servers for our four top, both of whom were attentive and friendly. They've got limited self-park options as well as a (low-priced?) valet. FOOD They bring out a little bread service (assortment of corn breads, etc) with a compound butter - perfectly average. Hard to remember everything we got (very little was memorable), but my partner and I split a caesar salad to start (good), then I got the Chicken Scallopini (good) and he got the Paella Valencia (good). From our table, there was positive feedback on the Braised Short Ribs. We got the pot-de-creme au chocolat for dessert and were disappointed - it was fine as well, but tasted just like any other chocolate mousse. Overall, a very average experience. Truly wanted to like it more based on the reviews. With all the dining options Houston has to offer, this place offers some tradition and quirkiness, but not much else. read more

This is a very nice restaurant with incredibly friendly service and very tasty food. Primarily gourmet southern-style food. It is an upscale place, so be sure to dress nicely. We went on 5/4/19 for a Kentucky Derby-themed three course dinner and had a lot of fun! They paired each course with a different bourbon drink to keep with the theme. Quite a weird experience here with the server.. Came for Sunday brunch with a reservation. Highly suggest reserving a table as it's very crowded. Anyways, the environment is nice. Very classy, piano man playing nice music, and proper attire staff. However, our server Augusto was rather strange and inattentive. We (party of 4) were waiting for more menus and water for quite some time. He passed by us like 4 times and yet, didn't think to give us the basics. The water finally came and he gave us 1 straw and left... LOL. The rest of us was in awe. The busboy eventually brought us the rest of the straws. We hosted a baby shower for 25 and everything exceeded our Mr expectations. Sam and Diana provided excellent table service anticipating all of our party needs on the day of. Valet support loading and unloading could not have been more professional and helpful on such a hot day. Fran was responsive in the planning process and we got all we wanted and more. We used the onsite bakery and everyone fought over the leftover cake. I will come back to host other events and certainly ask for the chocolate cake and vanilla icing. read more

Adam and Yassine were always communicative and responsive along the way and delivered a beautiful space for the ceremony followed by cocktails then dinner and dancing. Girlfriend took me here for my birthday brunch. The food was delicious but it was hard to enjoy it because it was so incredibly hot inside the restaurant. We were seated by the window so that didn't help at all. We asked them to turn on the fans & as luck would have it, the fan closest to us in the corner was turned off. We asked the waiter to turn on that specific fan & he did so by standing on a chair & pulling on the string. Apparently that fan makes an incredibly annoying squeaking noise so someone turned it off remotely. I assume a little WD40 would fix that right up? I might consider coming back to this restaurant if I bring a personal fan because it's awful having your makeup sweat off, hair matteing to your clammy neck & the back of your thighs sticking to the chair because you're sweating throughout your entire meal. I almost forgot that the parking is only valet. Girlfriend parked the car & just paid the valet guy. Why are we paying to park in a lot that isn't even a parking garage, Ousie?! Valet being the only option really annoys me. Not everyone wants a stranger getting into their car so give folks the option to park themselves. read more

Would've given 0 stars if I could've! I recently attended a baby shower at this restaurant and am disappointed to say the experience was not what I or the hosting family expected. Aside from poor service during the event, there was a 1 year old birthday party booked in the other half of the room who neither respected the curtain barrier nor monitored the toddlers attending the party. Management and servers were notified and our side of the party was given a standing barrier to block the children - no shock that it didn't work, rather the barrier was sent falling, nearly hitting the 8-month pregnant woman we were celebrating, numerous times. We also saw unattended toddlers on our side nearly the entire 3 hour party because parents weren't paying attention on the other side of the room. Further, food for the pre-determined menu was served 1.5 hours after ordered with an update that it would be late 1 hour into the delay. Suffice to say, the party had some setbacks. Wouldn't have thought to leave this review if it weren't for the follow up, though. The hosting family called management to express concerns and disappointment, expecting an apology and hoping that future private parties wouldn't have similar issues. Management instead decided to YELL at the family, blaming them for the mistakes that were made and only offering a refund to ensure "that is the end of this." Actually, it's not the end of it, and while I had a wonderful time catching up with old family friends and celebrating the beginning of a new life + new parents, I will not be going back to this restaurant ever again. It's a shame that what should've and could've been a great event for the hosting family to look back on is now dimmed by the horrible service and customer experience - something that we all would've been able to look past had management decided to take accountability rather than hold onto their pride and attempt to pass on embarrassment for poor service to the family. For a restaurant in River Oaks, I am disappointed. For the hosting family who was gracious in the moment despite the worst service I've ever seen, I am disappointed. For future parties who decide to host at this restaurant, I offer a word of caution. read more

Delicious! Went to a work function here during lunch. Lunch time was actually quite busy on a Wednesday. Parking is not the best and you should expect a good chance to have to pay valet ($3ish not too bad but I hate the waiting). There are a few spots to self park, but it seemed like most spots were reserved for valet. The ambiance was nice and promoted conversation. I will say, the tiny pieces of bread given were ok... not the best. Some people are very into "The bread is the 1st impression!" It's not the star, but the rest of the meal made up for it. I had the Chicken Tortilla Soup, with the Salmon & Crab Meat Entree, and Tres leches for dessert. Everything was cooked and seasoned well. Portions are good and presentations was nicely done. Hosted a small baby shower here this weekend and was incredibly disappointed and disgusted with the atmosphere and service at Ouisie's. Stained linens and seating, a dead cricket on the room divider, a pre-fixed menu that took way too long to be served. Our space was split in half to accommodate two parties -- but the other side was a kid's first birthday party. We were not informed that's how the room would be set up. There were toddlers running around everywhere, even into our space. We had children coming up to our table asking for food, no parents to be found. The guests from the other party were entering our space to go outside onto the patio, constantly opening and closing the door in below 50 degree weather. They even brought a ball pit. It was chaos and completely unmanaged by Ouisie's staff. Felt like we were at Chuck E. Cheese. Plus, the only room divider was a thin shower curtain. Priority was completely given to the other party -- and our party was used as their backstage prep space. Not worth it. Go somewhere else. read more

We ordered mimosa, crab cobb salad and seafood crepes. While waiting, they served mini jalapeno cornbread, cheese herb muffin and cinnamon muffin.
