I had several folks rave about this Diner and today was the day to try it. No waiting for a table and it's a cute little diner with mainly Breakfast and Sandwiches/Burgers some Seafood and Steaks. I was kinda hoping for traditional diner food like meatloaf and maybe a Blue Plate Special but it is what it is. Husband ordered the Biscuits & Gravy with Over Easy Eggs and I got the Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs with Home Fried potatoes and a biscuit. The server said the biscuits were delicious and being a Southern woman, who knows how to make good biscuits, I was hopeful. The plates came out quickly and full. The biscuit I ordered was on a separate plate, it was cut square, like cornbread; biscuits are round. The Over Easy eggs were served upside down, who does that? The Home Fries were just potatoes, no onions or seasoning. I will just say we were both extremely disappointed in the choices. The Chicken Fried Steak was excellent and the Service was great. We may go back for lunch food but the jury is out at the moment. read more

Omg I cannot believe I haven't posted anything for The Diner yet. Ugh! We lived in this area a good two years before "discovering " it. We drove by it every day and there is minimal signage, very small building and a mostly gravel parking lot but do not let this deter you!! Love a big old fashioned breakfast? Love grilled sandwiches, burgers, fries, large salads? You must come check with place out. It's tiny , yes but this diner has huge heart! On most Saturdays and Sundays, Bev and Claire are the the two waitresses and even if the line is out the door, they always have a smile for you or a little humor! Everyone works as a team (a lot of places could take a lesson in teamwork from Bev and Claire). Best BLT I ever had was right here! This place is breakfast and lunch only! Check the hours before you go as they sometimes change slightly. It can get very busy but it never takes very long and well worth the wait. Great drip coffee. What else? They have pies (but I have never tried them). Between everyone in our family we have probably ordered all the breakfast and lunch entries many times over and it's all good! It was extremely greasy. My wife couldn't eat her pancakes because they tasted like the grill (bacon sausage eggs) i got the home made corn beef hash. It was okay and kind of weird. The meat didn't really look like corned beef and the cook just uses the home fries for the potato, I always thought the potato should be really small. The only good thing was the hash brown serving was so large I could make myself breakfast with it the next day. I hate giving poor reviews but this place didn't live up to expectations. We wanted to support "Our Diner" during their open hours during the coronavirus pandemic. I had their special of the day, chicken fried steak, and my wife had the bacon cheese burger with potato salad. It was all wonderful. The CFS came with mashed potatoes, plenty of gravy, and vegetable/corn and a dinner roll with butter. PERFECT! I'll be back as soon as possible! This place is a hidden gem!! Was looking for a quick spot and after looking at food picks, decided to try them out. Small place (seats maybe 50) but the place had a warm feeling (and it's not from the kitchen) Simple menu with average pricing. Got Country Fried Steak breakfast, Chicken Salad, and omelet with hash brown. The place is deceiving! Didn't expect much but "Look can be deceiving!" It blew me away on plate size (BIG and filling) it felt like a family business and "I love supporting family run businesses!" The kitchen was run by only 2 people but "Can they push out the food!" Finally, the very best breakfast happening in Whatcom county! The local clientele looked like extras from Mayberry RFD. They were cheerful and neighborly. Everybody seemed to be having a blast. I felt like i had stepped back to the 1950s. I am truly jazzed. It is my absolute tip top spot...so boss. Cool cat sounds on the jukebox. Cast an eyeball on the walls and you'll get a giggle. I posted pics of some of the funny signs. Let's start with coffee. I'm not talking eight o'clock from ***mart. I'm talking that it tastes like it has been roasted and ground within the last week instead of coffee shop coffee that has one wondering if it was canned within the last year. It was smooth and flavorful....freshly brewed medium roast without a hint of acidity or bitterness. The refills and toppers kept coming. It was more barista and less Denny's. The breakfast menu had everything you could expect for the scene. Hash browns were nice and crisp on the outside and perfectly cooked on the inside. All the food was stellar. Okay, incredibly picky, I would have loved to have been offered rye toast instead of white. But hey, its a 50's style diner and white bread was the scene. I've learned in Whatcom county not to order eggs benedict if I don't know if they can poach an egg. I don't want to add insult to injury with bad hollandaise on a hard boiled egg. I ordered two poached eggs asking that the yolks being cooked runny and the white be completely cooked. Voila...perfection. Next time I'm willing to gamble on the least expensive eggs benny I've seen in a decade. Check out the desserts....fountain favorites and fresh made pies. My friends were stoked with their killer shakes. I'm flipping over the whole scene.... can't wait to be back in this orbit. Maybe I'll give it a shot for lunch. Loved loved loved it. Heard rave reviews from family so finally tried it and wasn't impressed. Babes old place was ALWAYS spot on no matter who was cooking; sadly I think the cook yesterday 6/17 was not up to par. Bacon was SOOOOOO salty couldn't even gage it down, hash browns were as dry as a parched desert, over medium eggs were almost hard not as runny as should be for yoke. Cinnamon rolls is NOT what you think of when you think cinnamon roll. It was dry and gross like airy bread instead of a cinnamon roll. Biscuits were just okay but the gravy had GREAT flavor. So sadly I would rate the decor, staff friendliness well above the food. Would like to try the burgers but not sure after this bad experience. read more

Stopped in for breakfast this morning. I enjoyed my biscuits and gravy, nice portion and not too salty. The other people in my party enjoyed their meals as well. Service was friendly although we waited a long time for our food, probably because of the small size of the grill in the kitchen. (The kitchen is visible to the public and the cook was really only able to cook one order at a time.) The reason for the mediocre score lies in the lack of overall cleanliness in the restaurant and the fact that the cook was wearing flip flops in the kitchen, not safe and although I'm sure it had nothing to do with hygiene, because her feet probably never came in contact with the food, it was still rather gross. read more

Best comfort food. Fast service and the waitress is amaaaaaaaaaaaazong. I love her!! It's rare to find a waitress so awesome and friendly. We go here cuz of the food. But we love the waitress too. Wait is never long. The place is small and can fill up fast but also empty quickly. I love it here. This is our bfast spot. Way better food than Hilltop restaurant!!! But that comparison isn't very good cuz Hilltop is no good in my opinion and Our Diner is at the top. I recommend everyone go here at least once to try it. read more

This diner is fantastic! The staff is friendly and quick to make you feel at home. The food is outstanding. Yes they serve large portions but DELICIOUS large portions! The biscuits are to die for and the omelets are some of the best I have ever had. The ingredients (sausage, bacon etc) are quality with superb flavor. This place is not huge but accommodates the right amount of people. We have never had to wait but I could see that happening because its one of the best places around!
