Our Mom's has degraded terribly in both food order accuracy and food quality. My husband went to Mom's to get me a burger since I am hospitalized and we all know how yummy hospital food is. However, the burger my husband brought to me for dinner was horrible beyond words. I asked for a medium burger with mayo and ketchup. I got a cremated hockey puck with lettuce, tomato, onion and mustard that I loathe beyond words. To cap off this horrible burger they also added about a pound of salt. It was disgusting and inedible. Ok, I would give this place a 3 star rating if I were to be honest, but I live near here and even though my family and I have only lived here for three months, we want this place to do well and hope it's gets better. Pros: Not usually a long wait, they can accommodate pretty easily a family of six. Food and drinks are clean and yummy. I can usually count on the food being good. My husband gets the shrimp poboy and I always get a salad and the salad portions and flavors are delicious. With that being said... Cons: There was still a tiny wait tonight, nothing to complain about, but was strange considering so many empty tables. The hosts were friendly. I decided to try something different, I got a mamas roast beef poboy... it was the saltiest sandwich I've ever eaten. I felt bad leaving it so kept chewing and spitting into napkins, my husband finally just ate the rest of it. He likes food pretty salty and thought it was even too salty for him. He had a side salad which I traded my salty sandwich with him for. We asked for utensils, but they'd only bring us a couple at a time, so we'd give our silverware to the kids so they could share a fork and eat their macaroni. I ate half the salad with my fingers. The wait for the food took a really long time, we spent most of it just trying to entertain our kids to keep their minds off of being hungry. Felt bad for the two guys behind us who waited forever for their burgers. At the end. Even with all that, I could guarantee my husband would've still tipped 20%, he usually tips more, but the check came out with an 18% gratuity already printed. This review is a tough one for me. Parts of the experience deserve a five, while others warrant a 2 or 3. Service was very slow (even though almost no other customers were there). On the other hand, the server was friendly when she actually stopped by our table. The roast beef po boy was only slightly warm. I also didn't care for the flavor of the meat. I've lived near this restaurant for a while but never got a chance to go so when my husband asked to go I was down. When we arrived it wasn't too packed and we had a choice between a booth or table (we chose a booth of course!) Inside of the restaurant was clean, and there's sports playing on the tvs. Our waitress greeted us immediately to put our appetizers in. I got the fried pickles and my husband got the cheese fries. The fried pickles were sooo good, crispy and fresh. I would come back just for those. Next I got a bacon cheeseburger and I didn't take a picture because unfortunately it was a little dry for my taste. Maybe it needed more cheese or something. My husband got the shrimp Philly and he said enjoyed his. For my drinks I ordered the blueberry lemon drop which was just okay, so I asked about another drink and the manager suggested the pink mule. This place wins all the things for me. I was looking for a place to have lunch and Your Mom's reviews were positive and the name made me laugh. I thought "why not?" Really not expecting much I stopped in and was blown away. The debris fries were promptly ordered after it was confirmed they were covered in actual pot roast that had been cooking since that morning. You won't find deli sliced bullshit roast beef slapped together with gravy here...no. This is the good stuff, onions and garlic cloves and seasoned so perfectly you'd think your mama made it and hugged you while she made your plate. The debris fries alone had me in love but we were just starting. I ordered the surf and turf burger and onion strings. The onion stings were good, but that burger. Oh my. Beef patty, succulent grilled shrimp, pepper jack cheese, grilled onions on a jalapeño cheddar bun? Sign me up! It was really one of the best burgers I've had in a while. Normally I love the food here, but today was not a good one. I do have to say my burger was good, but the bun is so heavy. We ordered fried pickles, they came quickly, but were all in a giant clump all stuck together, as you tried to pull them apart all the breading would come off and they tasted over fried, we left most of them uneaten. Also the onion rings were so greasy and all the breading was falling off of them also, you would go to pick it up and all the breading flaked off and all you had was a limp greasy onion, just nasty, my hands were covered in grease, left most of them not eaten also. our waiter was very nice and I was just not in the mood to complain. maybe it was just a bad day in the kitchen? I've been here a handful of times over the years and I always like the food! My favorite burger is the jalapeno ranch one. The portions are big enough that I can usually save half for another meal. I also like their fried pickles/mushrooms and the loaded fries are to die for. I've had their desserts before and don't remember being impressed. I like their drinks, especially on happy hour since they're half priced! My only issue is that sometimes service can be SLOW. Like sometimes it's quick with the servers coming by and other times, you feel like you're waiting forever to get their attention. There's been times I've had to wave them down. The fried green beans are fantastic. You barely taste the actual green bean and the spice in the batter adds just enough heat. It has a similar consistency to fried pickles (obviously different taste). The chicken salad sandwich is okay. It lacks flavor. Bland and dry. The classic club was very good though. First time trying Our Mom's and it did not disappoint. Service by our server (If I remember correctly Tyler P.) was very prompt and he was very friendly and patient. We started with fried green beans and the chili Mac fries..the chili Mac fries are pretty dang good and can easily be split between 4 people. Fried green beans weren't bad but definitely better once we dipped it in our ranch dressing from the fries LOL. I had the PBJ burger and to be honest with you..I could probably have used more PB&J. I love a good messy burger. My wife had the rockin chicken and looking at the photo it doesn't look like much but it sure was tasty. We will be back in the future to try a few more items. This place has just really gone downhill- we've noticed little changes the past few times we've visited, and they aren't for the better. It's a shame because the servers are really good and it's in a great location but there seems to be some kitchen issues that need to be addressed. They were out of bread (server said they ran out last night-ok it happens but could they not have gotten more this morning?!) so no BLT for hubby which is the only thing he ever orders. So.....we both got burgers and the buns were just downright stale. Not just a little either- hard and just very un-fresh. We immediately ditched them and just ate the burger sans bun. A lady who kept walking around checking on tables (manager?) stopped by and we told her about the buns. She just said sorry, not sure what happened. She came back and said the reason they were hard is that the grill wasn't hot enough to make them soft (I'm sorry, wut??) and asked if we wanted new buns. We were done eating at that point. This was our first visit to this restaurant. The decor and atmosphere is nice. The food was delicious and fresh. The service was great. After eating our food, we both said that we couldn't wait to come back here to eat. So, why the three stars? Because I was nickel and dimed to death. When I got the receipt, our very positive and satisfying experience soon turned to disappointment and frustration. I was charged $.25 for a few little pickle slices on my roast beef poboy. I did not get the lettuce and tomato on the poboy that it came with. I have never been charged for pickles on my sandwich. Not anywhere. Not ever. And they saved money by me not getting the tomato and lettuce that was included in the price! I was charged $1.00 for extra gravy. Why did I ask for extra gravy? This is what it says on the menu description of the roast beef poboy, "Don't be afraid to ask for extra gravy!" So, they suggest asking for extra gravy just so they can make an extra buck without telling you about the upcharge. . I was charged another $1.00 to get a small dollop of their cream cheese & jalapeno spread. On the menu, you can get a roast beef with mayo, lettuce, tomato and gravy, or for the same exact price, you can get a roast beef with, "Our same homemade roast beef but dressed with Our Mom's signature cream cheese and candied jalapeno pepper spread." So, according to their menu, the price is the same whether you add the spread to the sandwich or not. I wasn't sure I would like the spread, so I asked the server if she could bring me just a little taste of it on the side when she brought my order out. The spread was very sweet, and I did not like the taste at all, so I was glad I did not get it on my sandwich. Imagine my surprise when I was charged $1.00 for that!!! It's one thing if I choose to add something to my meal and the upcharges are listed on the menu and/or the server tells me that there is an upcharge. It is entirely another thing when upcharges are hidden. It really puts a bad taste in one's mouth. We were so excited to have found this restaurant near my daughter's college apartment so that we could come back to it when we visit. My daughter talked about wanting to go there with friends and even getting take-out sometimes. But, I am rethinking this because of the ridiculous and deceptive charges. I am surprised we were not charged for the ketchup we used on our fries or the straw or napkins. I wonder if there are extra charges for take-out containers. I have no idea why they changed the name, but Your Mom's made me chuckle and Our Mom's doesn't. But then again, I am a juvenile. Back to our regular scheduled review. Our Mom's is very casual, but the staff are friendly and provide great service. There are TVs everywhere so you won't miss a minute of a game if you visit during one. The burger choices are pretty extensive and run the gamut from standard cheeseburger to fancy shmancy ridiculousness. I opted for a three cheese burger and it was delicious. My husband and I both got one except I got I got the rockin roast beef poboy with the cream cheese candied jalapeño spread and he got the plain roast beef . The atmosphere is warm and relaxing . They also have a great selection of alcoholic drinks and beers . If you check in on yelp you get a free appetizer with two entrees. We chose the fried pickles. The fried pickles were pretty good. Looking at the menu, I was not.thrilled to come here. My brother suggested it and being a mostly sandwich menu; it reminded me of other places in town that I did not care for that had similar menus. I couldnt have been more wrong. I ordered the rockin chicken; which was fried and came on a cheese bun. It was dressed with bacon and a jalapeno jelly and cream cheese. I thought it was going to be rich, but was perfectly balanced with crunchy and creamy spicy and sweet. The sandwich came with fries, but i was so focused on how much the sandwich wowed the meal I didnt really pay any attention to the fries. Everyone at the table had rave reviews of their food. The boyfriend had the triple cheese burger and was pleased with its flavor and my parents both ordered the roast beef and said that they would order it again. Tried for the first time and I guess set my hopes too high. My pizza burger was pretty damn good and cooked perfectly, I usually opt for as underdone as possible but just wanted to try default serving temp. Cooked through but still juicy. The chicken strips were chicken strips. Not much flavor in the breading but with a solid dipping sauce and a beer would be a good snack to watch a game with. Boudin balls very obviously arrive to the store in a bag. They aren't bad by any means but nothing to write home about. Chili was basic. Again, not bad but seemed more like a hotdog topping than a dish. Mac and cheese was solidly creamy. Roast beef poboy was a disaster. I understand money is tight everywhere, but if you must serve the end slice of a tomato it needs to be cored first. Would've been more upset if hadn't opened it and saw the stem staring me in the face and found out by mouth. The meat quantity was lacking for the price point and honestly didn't have much flavor. All that could really taste was bread and a lot of mayonnaise with the texture of slippery lettuce present. Maybe we caught this sandwich on an off day but if I wanted mayonnaise on French bread I could've saved money and stayed at home. I did like the quiet and dark atmosphere. Very relaxing and appears every seat should have no trouble seeing a TV. I'll probably try again in hopes that it was a one off poor experience but I know the wife won't be joining me for a second chance.
