We were out and about in the area so we decided to try outback in Amherst, This was our first time to this location and this place is quite big. We were sat almost immediately but it took a bit for our server to wait on us. But once we found out who are server was, he seemed to have a lot of tables in our area. We placed our drink order and we both order specialty sangrias. They both were really good and they gave us waters without us ordering them, which was a nice touch. I ordered the filet with unlimited shrimp and my hubby ordered baby back ribs. It took a while for food, but because of the amount of people in the restaurant it was expected. The steak came well done - ordered med well, server asked if I wanted to send it back, I chose to eat it. You can't uncook a steak and I didn't want it to go to waste. I would have liked a little pink, but it was ok. Then we had to wait for my shrimp, they brought one order and within 5 minutes they sent over 3 more orders of shrimp - one of which was not the kind I ordered. I asked them to take them back because I would not eat all of it. They must have bought too much shrimp and wanted to get rid of them. Ha Ha The ribs were cooked good, but they were not fall off the bone wonderful. There was some parts of the ribs that was chewy and for my hubby not to eat it, you know they weren't great ribs. We opted for no dessert, we had some running around to do and because our meal was ok, didn't want to eat anymore. This is definitely my favorite chain restaurant in Buffalo. I most recently came with my mother (it was her birthday), my dad, and my boyfriend. We did the call ahead seating on a busy Saturday night and still had to wait a little bit, but there weren't any tables left so that was understandable. We got a nice booth and our waiter was friendly and clearly knew his stuff. I ordered my first drink, a Wallaby Darned, which is a peach schnapps slushie essentially. It's so good that I've ordered it every time I've been there since I first tried it. My dad ordered some of the wings to split with my boyfriend, which they both enjoyed. Then it was time for our entree orders. I wanted prime rib, but our waiter informed me that they had a limited amount. I tried to back out but he'd already gone to the back to check. When he came back, he was happy to inform me that they had plenty in the temperature I desired. When the food came, all of us gasped because the portion sizes are huge. I'd already finished the salad that came with my meal, the chopped salad with pecans and bleu cheese dressing, which was flavorful and whet my appetite. My prime rib had bourbon glaze and bacon on it, which made it even more delicious. The loaded mashed potatoes really hit the spot too. My second drink was a white wine sangria that was okay but not as good as the Wallaby Darned (I might be a little partial). We were all so full but ordered dessert anyways, a strawberry shortcake parfait for my boyfriend and me and a Chocolate Thunder From Down Under for my mom (I might have helped her with that one). The food at Outback is good, guys. The prices are a little high but that's why we only come for special occasions. The waiter was phenomenal and one of the most personable ones I've ever had. The chain aspect isn't my favorite part about it, but it's not to the restaurant's detriment. I enjoy my experiences here and I'm going to keep coming back for more. read more

I was ordered 8 oz Filet Mignon with medium temperature, but when I first cut across the board, the meat quality was bloody.Medium rare can't be bloody, but the back part is medium rare. I don't know how their chefs cook. They make such mistakes. And the waiter is not professional enough. We ran out of water. She didn't add water for us when she came over. We didn't give napkins when we gave drinks, but we also need to ask her for them. And she didn't hold the empty plate firmly, which made my boyfriend's heart jump. He's a little slow, and it will take him a few minutes to get normal. Can such a waiter go to work? Don't consider the guest's feelings at all.When I needed to find her, after she took care of another table, I tried to stop her, but she didn't hear me at all and left without looking back. Wait time was 15 minutes, exactly what we were told coming in. We ordered loaded fries for appetizer. The fries not as crispy as I like. The complementary bread was delicious as usual. All of us ordered the victoria filet. I ordered mine medium and it was done perfectly, my sons was way too rare, though he decided not to send it back. The baked potato and broccoli done well. Salted Carmel skillet cookie for dessert was delicious, though a little hard on bottom, it was cooked too long. Our server was excellent. Very pleasant, attentive, yet not disruptive. For a first visit to an Outback, to say I was impressed would be an understatement! We were greeted at the door by 2 smiling workers. It was busy, dinner hour, but did not wait at all for a seat. Our server was very polite and attentive. The food came out quickly and hot. We asked a server "How many Bloomin' Onions do you serve a day?" She wasn't sure of the answer, but went and found out, and came back to tell us the answer (anywhere between 40 and 90 depending on how busy they are!). As we were leaving, we were wished a good evening by 90% of the wait staff. I would fully recommend making a visit here, even if you aren't big into chain restaurants. read more

I am between 2-3 stars. Our waiter was really nice so I did three. Obviously when you go to outback, you have to get the bloomin' onion. It's simple, spicy, and delicious. However it is a bit greasy and you are guaranteed terrible breath. This time ours was a little over done and not very easy to tear. But it was still delish. My accompaniment and I split the New York strip at a medium rare. Your dinner comes with brown bread and sides so splitting one is definitely enough. It was okay. It's not Chophouse. But it's decent for what you pay for. We ordered two side salads (nothing extraordinary) and a side of Aussie Fries. Apparently they changed the wording on their menu. We expected to get fries with cheese and bacon and ranch on top but we just got regular fries. The waiter let us know that ..now.. Aussie Fries are just regular French fries. He went and got us new fries but we were too full to even eat them by the time they came out. I ordered a strawberry peach sangria as well. It was just your typical chain restaurant sangria. I've been to Outback, including this location, many times. However, tonight's experience left plenty to be desired. Ordered my usual (sirloin, formally the outback special) cooked medium, but it came out barely cooked and still mooing. I can normally handle undercooked, but this needed to go back in... My problem isnt necessarily with the mistake on temp but with the way it was handled. Lady mgr came back with my food and had no apology or genuine concern for my food. She just said "make sure its ok" and watched me cut into it then proceeded to carry on to something else in obvious disgust with my polite request for a properly cooked steak. Anyways, this experience brought my overall feeling for OB down a notch. Food is usually good, but personnel brought this down a couple stars. Next time...maybe? read more

Customer service goes a long way! A few years ago, we celebrated my young daughter's birthday there and the whole staff signed a birthday card for her. I still have it. Perhaps it's a small gesture to them, but it means a lot to me. Recently, we got delivery and my daughter's steak was so overdone that I could hardly cut it. I was hoping that, if I cut it into tiny pieces, it'd be edible, but it wasn't. I called, and explained to the manager what had happened. She wanted to make sure my daughter had a nice meal. Oh gosh, forgive me...it's a chain, I know. It should be awful and many times it is but there's a lot of times it's not. Tonight was one of those nights. There's plenty of other nights we've done and we've asked for the steak medium and it's been purple rare...or medium well and it's been medium or burnt...but when they're on, it's a good chain restaurant. The new app, steakhouse Mac and cheese bites were awesome (6 for $4.99) but the waiter may have indicated that the price is going up to $7 soon...I'd pass. The food, when cooked consistently, is good. That may not be often but...the steak is good (at least the filets). The chicken quesadilla is good (I'd prefer fresh mushrooms, seems like it's probably canned) with the bacon and the cheese and the honey mustard dip sauce. There's been sometimes I've gotten a burger and thought "dang, this is a good burger" and other times not. I am a sucker for a philly steak and usually choose a different chain option (that my wife gives me, because God only knows why she likes chains) but they finally started carrying them. This one is decent. Not sure but menu says cheddar cheese sauce on it and I think it's more just hard cheddar cheese on the roll than it being "sauced." Whatever. Peppers and onions were grilled (fantastic) but lots of crunchy grill char mixed in the meat. Clean the grill! Cook, Clean! Wash, rinse, repeat. 4/5 but 3/5 because chain and inconsistent...which is expected. We called in at 8 o'clock asking to seat seven. They refused and asked us to just order and take our food. We came in and said we'd sit separately, which they allowed. They sat us away from each other. When we asked what the difference was and why we couldnt all be seated together, the manager began arguing with my mom. I was very disappointed with my steak shrimp and salad. I asked for dressing on the side and it was not, some of the lettuce was slimy and wilted. My steak was overcooked and very salty as was my friends steak. My shrimp on the barbie was so overcooked I couldn't get it off the skewer and hard. I think it holds its own against other, cheaper steak houses you find in the area, and is definitely the best (in my opinion) of the "chain" steakhouse options. Not very impressed with Outback. I try my hardest to stay away from chain restaurants and going to Outback validated why I do. We got the Bloomin Onion for an app. It was burnt which took away from the taste. I also got the French Onion Soup.. terrible. I'm not sure if that bowl was from the bottom of the barrel or if their recipe is just that awful. For dinner I got the Cobb Salad. I was expecting a chunk of lettuce with all the fixings. What I got was iceberg lettuce and croutons. It was awful. The only saving grace was their sweet potato. They bake it and then top it with brown sugar and honey butter. Absolutely delectable! Ordered a center cut sirloin with a sweet potato and grilled asparagus. Everything came out as ordered.
