I know. It's a chain. It just happens to still be a good chain. The waitstaff are always friendly and the steaks are (notably) good and are not expensive. The blooming onion appetizer and the stuffed mushrooms are our favorites. The steaks are always perfectly cooked and their prime rib is delicious as well. There are other places we could go for similar food at similar prices, this is close and always has plenty of parking. Sometimes that's enough to make the decision for dinner. I wish they were opened later as we tend to not get to dinner until 8pm sometimes due to work hours and then feel rushed as the staff makes it clear they close at 9:30pm during the week. The desserts are decent quality for a chain restaurant but obviously brought in. We got the sampler for $8 and the portion sizes were very small and the desserts were only so/so, but it only cost $8 for 3 desserts. read more

Wow, no one has reviewed this place yet? Yeah, yeah, I know, chain restaurants in the Buffalo area are supposed to be a no-no, but Outback is pretty darn good! We don't have an Outback right near us, but decided to shop in the McKinley mall area and eat here first. Doors opened at 3 and we got there at 3:30 and it was already pretty busy. By the time we left at 4:20 the place was packed! That's pretty early for a Saturday, no? So, this was my first time at Outback in years. I was very happy! I got a 6oz sirloin steak cooked perfectly at medium-well. It came with 2 sides so I picked a baked potato and green beans, and they put this sweet seasoning on the beans, yum! I literally ate every bite on my plate. The best part? It was only $9.99! My husband got Shrimp en Fuego which was shrimp, mushrooms, halved cherry tomatoes in a creamy spicy sauce served on half a baked potato. It looked a little weird but he thought the taste was amazing! We were also served a small loaf of bread before our meals. Our server was great, really friendly! He was efficient, kept our drinks full and stopped by just enough times. Oh, and they were " voted #1 Best Steak in the 2009 Zagat survey of National Full Service Restaurant Chains." Went there for dinner but was told there would be a wait as they were short staffed. Turns out the other servers don't start until 4:30 pm. Apparently they were going to make everyone wait until the rest of the servers started. Well, that's just ridiculous. It's a Friday night and they must expect to be busy so why not have more staff on duty. We finally walked out and went to Longhorn. We won't be back. No need to put up with that nonsense again. Ok.... updated review. Still no happy hour specials. We just come here once in s great while now. This past time, it was OK. We got the blooming onion, a few 6 oz steaks with a few different side dishes, a "bloomin burger", a few beers, and fried Mac and cheese balls . Nothing to really say, everything was pretty good. My boyfriend and I went here for his "birthday lunch" and everything was great ESPECIALLY the service! Great amount of food for the price, I went with building your own meal for $14.99 which included a 6oz sirloin, soup, salad, side and desert! Was very impressed, especially considering we had gone to Black and Blue the week prior for our anniversary and had a terrible experience for double the price. I don't have any pictures of my meal, but allow me to make your mouth drool. My girlfriend and I work opposite shifts, so it's really hard for us to see each other with the exception of the weekends. I decided to spoil us by going to Outback steakhouse. We came here on one of our first dates and loved it back then to. On our way there, we talked about what I just stated and brought up how we HATED longhorn steakhouse. We walked in, was told it would be a 15-20 minute wait (very reasonable). We got a pager to alarm us when our table would be ready, so we decided to wait in my car. Walked outside, opened my car door, sat down, closed my door, lit up a cigarette, and the pager went off. That was fast! We go back in, got seated in a booth table in the back corner which I LOVED. I have this weird phobia with eating too close to other people. We ordered our drinks, which for some reason tasted amazing! Before our order taken, I asked our waitress where Outback gets there glassware from and where they bought their meats. She did not know and told me she would ask. She took our orders, came back with bread and informed me with answers on the questions I asked. As we were waiting for our food, I couldn't help to over listen to our waitress taking the order for the table next to us. I know this has nothing to do with Outback, but the 2 children had the most polite manners I have seen/heard in a LONG time! It made me smile to see there are good parents still out there. Our salads came. I got a ceasar salad like I always do and finished off my girlfriend's salad. When the waitress came back to pick up our salad plates, she had also brought back a fresh glass of coke without asking. She just did it. I didn't even notice I was almost out! Our food came and it was delicious! I loved every bite! I had an overall wonderful experience and will definitely be returning! Fail on so many levels. Ordered medium rare ribeye, received well done. Pointed out to the server ( nice kid but not well trained) and he said a replacement would be right out. 15 mins later manager asks how the replacement steak was. Problem was the replacement still wasn't out. She says she'll take care of it. Never see her again. 15 more minutes the server says it will be right out. I tell him to just box it,after an hour and fifteen minutes I'm not going to eat by myself in front of my gf, who finished her meal 20 minutes previously. Many other problems, terrible presentation, timing of courses, etc. Won't be back and recommend others don't either. There are other places to get fried onion appetizers. read more

Mother's Day was a disaster. Rather than letting people know that they had already taken more orders than they were capable of producing, they just kept taking more orders. There were more than 100 cars in line at 6:00 to pick up orders and they were filling the ones from 4:30 at that time. And they were still taking orders online and promising 45 minutes for pick-up! The only customers they were worried about were the Uber and Door Dash drivers. Total disregard for customers. Ruined Mother's Day for hundreds of Southtowners. Although our server and service was exceptional, my husband and I were both bothered by seeing 2 of the other servers that were not wearing their masks properly (both had them below their noses). This would still allow for the spread of COVID if the server or customer (since not required to wear a mask once seated) were Asymptomatic. If you want to make your customers comfortable and keep your business up and running, I believe refresher training and compliance should be a high priority. Haven't been to Outback in many years but now I remember why. Had a gift card to use so me and my husband decided to give it a try. Not busy at all, walked into a hostess that greeted us with no smile at all. Most of the workers never smiled as we sat there. Got sat by the takeout door in the corner and waited a while to just be acknowledged for drink order. By that point we were ready to order. Waitress was friendly and took our order promptly. I ordered the ribeye with chicken combo with potatoes and French onion soup. Husband got ribeye and fries with a salad. She offered bread before meal. Soup and salad came out first and well that was the best part. My steak was burnt around the edges, chicken was dry with no taste, potatoes lacked any flavor. When I ordered my steak I said medium well but a little more to well side, not burnt. Husband's steak was done perfect but the amount of fries was so small. Waitress checked in beginning but when we asked for the check she said oh you should of told me I could of had your steak redone. As a server myself I check tables multiple times and offer to fix it or offer a discount. Unfortunately none was done and we will be going elsewhere for a steak dinner. read more

My baked sweet potato tasted good , but was very mushy. Bread tasted a bit stale. My Ribeye was tough and dry, must be thawed meat, and then a bit overcooked. Blooming onion was amazing usually they are greasy and this one wasn't bad. I had a blooming burger which was good but the thing that sold me was the garlic mashed potatoes they were great. My son got chicken on the barbie and that taste funny to everyone with us but the manager came over and we told him what was up with it and he gave my son a free sundae and didn't charge us for the chicken. Good friendly service, no lighting, and my g/f's steak tasted funny. Mine was fine. She got another steak and that one tasted funny too. Only difference was I ordered the 9oz and she ordered the smaller one. Both were on special with unlimited shrimp. They comped us her dinner, I left half my steak for her, and we left stuffed with leftovers for $40 including tip but one would expect better from a steakhouse, chain or not. Being from the Midwest, maybe I'm impatient. However 30 minutes before you receive your salad is a bit much. Never offered a refill during that time frame. My expectations were far from being met. Too many people standing around and not enough attention being paid to the guests. This location has definitely lost a customer. I've been here 45 minutes still no salad let alone the entree! We had dinner here to celebrate both my grandparents turning 89. Our server knew this at the beginning of the meal. But apparently even that fact wasn't enough to ensure better than mediocre service. NO ONE ever got a water refill, and we were there for about two hours, the server brought over two ice cream bowls with birthday candles in them, and then proceeded to start singing happy birthday without even lighting the candles. I guess they can't afford matches. Then we had to grab the poor hostess to come and take some of our dinner plates away, since our waiter just decided to bring out all the desserts to a table full of dirty dishes. When we left after having dessert there were STILL dirty dinner dishes on the table. But it wasn't worth the energy to attempt to get him to take them away. They changed there menu from a few years ago. Me and a friend decided to give it a try again. We use to go to outback all the time, the cheese fries were the best! Last night we went to the one in Hamburg needless to say it was a waste of money. We started off with the Cheese fries. Apparently they now have 2 sizes we ordered the regular size and for 3 of us that was not a lot, (if they were good) They came out nice and hot but they were so Soggy in grease it was gross. Outback most deffinitly made my top 5 list. Ill start with the staff. I'd say the amount of effort the cleaning staff put in was phonomenal. Two waitresses were cleaning after 50 people like nothing. Also, the waiter remained calm and respectful even after picky demands/messes. Next up the decorations. I'd tell you Outback puts good effort into there atmosphere. However, the colors really repeated itself. Lastly the food. I think the food was good but for a restaurant based on steak they slipped just a bit. Went tonight with my family and had the BEST restaurant experience that we've had in a while. The food was great but the service is what made the experience above and beyond. Heather the manager was a pleasure to meet and chat with. Our server leena was the BOMB. Not only was her customer service spot on but she was informative, well spoken, and just overall darling. I would go back just to visit them again. Our host was a bit of a let down because we weren't allowed to sit in an empty booth that became occupied later on but those two girls completely made a 180 on our experience!! read more

I am not a native Buffalonian but I have picked up their predilection fwith respect to local eateries versus chains. On several occassions I have been over by the :Mall" and said, "you know, I feel like a steak, let's duck into Outback ans see what the deal is?" Twice I have gone in there and there was a wait of anywhere from 25-50 minutes so I said,"NEXT." Ok, so it was my birthday and my girlfriend Phyllis says where do you want to go for dinner...hey, how about that place that we can never get into." Well I quess the third time was a charm. We got in, were greeted by extremely friendly people at the Hostess station, were immediately seated and met Vanessa who was beyond delightful. She told us about the happy hour drink specials and we were off to the races and had an incredibly sumptuous meal. I had a 22 oz, ribeye and it was not quite as good as one you would get at Russell's or the extremely expensive Chophouse downtown but at less than half the price it was in the game for sure. With the two massive accompnaying sides, I was not able to finish it. Of course my daughter Alice, and Phyllis, had to have their silly signature "Bloomin Onion." Rediculous. They cajoled me into having a little and you know what, it was pretty darned good. I'd go back there anytime and I would resist the impulse to say, G'day mate. (Nah, I would probably say it. I am writing this on my way home from outback steakhouse in Blasdell, NY. I went there with my husband and daughter and this was absolutely horrible. My steak was way over seasoned I sent it back they didn't make me a new one and it was okay. Then they proceeded to charges full price for drinks when it was 2 minutes before their happy hour started. Our bill came to at least $95 with the tip and for that much money I think we should have been treated a lot better! Plus they charged us $13 for a kids pasta and when we told the waiter that we would like just butter noodles for 8 year old daughter.
