We tried, we really did. We used to visit this location at least twice a month until about two years ago. We were the type that came in often, asked to be seated with one of our favorite servers - because, at the time, there were a couple there that were great. The food was also good and a solid value for the money. Then we started to see a marked decline in both the service and the food quality. Our servers seemed to have moved on and management seemed to have changed. Over the course of about two months we'd gone in and had terrible experiences, between messed up orders, testy wait staff and lack of management. We still didn't give up. We tried order pick up and delivery, although I'm not sure why we thought that would be any better. Neither service was any better. Burnt, overcooked food, so many missing items it could only be construed as done because the people responsible just didn't care and dismal food quality. So we stopped patronizing the restaurant altogether. Jump ahead two years and we decided to visit the other night. A disaster. After we were sat we waited nearly 15 minutes for our server to finally greet us, after which he immediately disappeared. It was another ten before he came back and took our drink order which then took 15 minutes to get to us - and was wrong. Although he was friendly enough, in the middle of taking our appetizer order another waiter came up behind him and started chatting to him about something - we couldn't hear what it was exactly because of the masks they were wearing and the fact that two other members of staff were sweeping away the debris left behind on the floor after a large party at a neighboring table had left. Those sweeping up were so loud as they swept up, dragging chairs, smacking them into each other and snapping those dust-pans with handles, it was ridiculous. Then a third person came along and started stacking the dirty dishes in the bussing pan and was doing it so carelessly, it sounded as if they were cracking the glasses and plates. Back to our server, who was now onto another discussion with the other servers, laughing and joking while we're sitting there patiently waiting for him to get back to the task of actually serving. Eventually he did come back to us and took our orders. We waited another ten minutes only to have him come back to reconfirm our appetizer order. He did bring the ubiquitous loaf of bread but no butter. He did say he'd bring some out - which he didn't do even after we managed to flag him down and make a second request as we waited for our apps. Those, cheese fries and coconut shrimp took about 18 minutes to get to us. No butter and our server disappeared again. We did enjoy those apps but still hadn't given the server our dinner order - waiting to actually see him on the dining floor again, took another 10 minutes. He took the order and the food came out with the salads we ordered - one salad was swimming in dressing, the other had none at all. Yet, it was the main courses that were the clinchers. The rare roast beef that we ordered was anything but and the chicken and shrimp pasta gave me some serious pause when I took a bit of the pasta and got the distinct flavor of funky aluminum - you know that smell you get on metal pans when they haven't been washed properly. The aluminum taste on the food was bad enough but the shrimp didn't seem fresh and had a bit of a funky smell as well. I ate two of them and then stopped because I really didn't trust that they were safe to eat. We'd also asked for salt, which had taken ten minutes to get to the table. All the while our server was nowhere to be seen. Call me picky, but waitstaff should, except for when they are in the kitchen getting their orders to bring out, always be visible to their customers. Each time we managed to catch site of our server, he was coming out of the kitchen laughing and chatting with someone leading us to believe he was just hanging out in there and only checking on his 'tables' when the jovial conversation kitchen-side waned. The other thing that struck us is at this point in this ill-fated visit, we had a veritable pagoda of dishes sitting piled at the edge of the table waiting to be taken away - they never were removed. Our server walked away from our table empty handed every time, never once taking the spent dishes away even though we'd piled them neatly at the edge for him to get the hint. At that point we couldn't wait to get the heck out of that place and asked for the check. That took another ten minutes and we had to flag him down to make a second request for it. With upset stomachs, because the food was in fact, spoiled, we beat a hasty retreat after paying the bill. We got up and left happy to be away and still, even as we left this terrible dump and abysmal experience behind, there was still no butter. read more

We walked in on Martin Luther King day, had about a 10 minute wait, hostess and waitress was very nice. I got fish tacos and my girlfriend got French onion soup and a chicken Caesar salad. I ordered mashed potatoes as a side and they served it with French fries as you can see in the picture. After I told the waitress of the mistake she quickly fixed it. The food was alright. The chicken Caesars chicken was a little over seasoned and the croutons tasted like they had sat in a butter bath before they came to the table. The fish tacos had a lot of seasoning but it kind of worked, and the sauces used on the tacos pulled it together nicely. The lighting and look is very nice, I give it three stars because the food quality, there just wasn't that bang in the food. My boyfriend and I went to Outback in Commack this week for our first dinner date in a long time and we had a great night. Our server, Greg, came over and said hi, talked to us about the menu and asked us if we had any questions. He made us feel welcome right off the bat and had us laughing the entire time we were there. Since Outback is a franchised restaurants and the meals taste just about the same at every location, I'll just make a few tips about this particular location. First, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings are PACKED. In fact, we recently tried to go on a Thursday just to avoid the Friday crowd and we still had to wait for 45 minutes. Best thing you can do is "call ahead seating." Before you leave the house give them a call and tell them how many are in your party. They will put your name down on the list immediately and this will cut your wait time by half if not more. Service at this location has consistently been great. Decor is the same as any other Outback. In terms of my fav foods, I just have to give a shout out to my Outback Caesar Salad and the Bloomin' (into a heart attack) onion - OMG delicious! read more

I have never had good luck with the food quality and service here! Last night i went in with a friend and the service wasn't bad because we were the only one at the bar eating. The food was a different story though. I ordered a new special which consisted of a lobster tail , stuffed shrimp and 2 crab cakes. The lobster tail was cold ! I've been going to Outback Steakhouse for many years. The quality of their steaks have improved over the past 15 years. For the past year I've been committed the Prime Rib with the bone in (medium). My kids get their usual from the kids menu. They have never had any complaints, so that is good. Don't get me wrong, I am not claiming that this is your 4 star steak restaurant. But to me it is the best when you're not looking for something fancy. I have been to many 5 star restaurants/steakhouses. The weekends are the busiest! The weekdays you will have no wait! Even when you do call ahead seating on the weekends, be ready to still wait an extra 30 minutes and possibly longer! PS, I always use A1 steak sauce when I come here and for of you steak lovers and steak perfectionist, U should know that a perfectly cooked & aged steak needs no condiments at all. I can assure you this is the best outback on the island. I have been to other locations and their food is inconsistent, but not here. However MOST IMPORTANTLY they know how to make a good drink, when I go out I'm trying to get it POPPIN' & they offer such services. I happen to love Outback. I even worked for them for a time at the Huntington Station location. I have to say the food quality, drinks and service at the Commack location are always excellent. HOWEVER my only complaint is the music! it is a mixture of country and then songs I have never heard in my life (I'm 53) and then things that don't even sound like music. The staff I spoke with encouraged me to write this review about the music as they cannot tolerate it either. It definitely ruins a great experience. Just left Outback Steakhouse in Commack. Went for lunch and left starving. I am so disappointed with the food ,service and management. I ordered a prime rib sandwich that was tough over cooked and certainly not prime anything I didn't even want to bring it home to my dog. I spoke to Tom the manager and he said he would look into it then hid in the kitchen for the rest of my visit. Went to Outback for lunch on a Monday afternoon. Hostess seated us and waiter and waitress were serving other tables. People were seated after us and servers went to their table before us. We were there 12 minutes and no one even said I'll be right with you or bought us water. We decided to leave and told the hostess why. She said "oh I'll assign a server to your table now".
