I am a single mom of two and getting out to eat is a rare treat for us. When my ex and I were first married, his job at Outback was the main employment and it had only been in existence for like 2 years. Even though he came to them with 4+ years of wait staff experience, getting hired was a three interview + training process. In those first years, because of his discount, we ate it fairly often (2x a month) and my eldest grew up with "coconut shrimp" being her favorite food. So I was excited about Outback to choose it as the place to take my two youngest and myself to for my birthday last summer. I knew very well what to expect. But my expectations were crushed. The service was alright but the food was not at all up to the standards of its former years. The 6 oz victoria's filet I ordered myself was no more than 3 oz of meat that was *tough*... a filet!! ordered medium and came well done, and lukewarm. The kids' meals were likewise overcooked and underheated. Arriving after a 20 minute wait. For the price of half a week's worth of groceries, the meal was disappointing to say the least. Because I was once a waiter's wife, I paid 20% to my server with a smile, but I haven't been back since. I'm sad to say the heyday of this once-well run chain has come and gone. read more

Holy shit. Me and my mom went there the other day for a good dinner at Outback and note the place is completely empty. We have to wait 20 minutes to get seated by some ditzy girls and our moron of a waitress takes another 20 minutes to get our drinks. And the drink tasted like shit too!! Holy shit..the cheese fries weren't much better. Half burnt and mediocre at best. I'm very disappointed. Never going here again. read more

Went on Wednesday for the walk-about special, 6oz sirloin, one side, and a drink or beer for $9.99. Can't beat the price!! Normal Outback food, steaks were cooked like we asked. This is the 2nd time we sat at the tables in the bar area and both times our waitress seemed to be handling tables in the main dining area, so it seemed we were forgotten at times. read more

I have been a here a few times and the food and service are consistently great. I've never had to send back a steak and to me, that's saying something for a chain steakhouse. From the apps menu, the wings are really good but my fave are the Aussie fries. Who doesn't like to indulge in french fries covered in cheese, bacon, and the most delicious ranch I've ever tasted?! The small is plenty for two people. You can't go wrong with the Victoria fillet and a sweet potato. Filling, nutritious (OK maybe the cinnamon honey butter not so much), and tasty! Looking for something lighter? The steak salad is delicious too, with its blue cheese and candied pecans. I gave up red meat entirely for Lent so on my last visit, I tried the featured Parmesan crusted chicken. $11.99 bought me the chicken and a side, a Caesar salad, and carrot cake for dessert. The Parmesan coating was so crisp and flavorful- I loved it! I didn't expect much from the cake but it was actually moist and fresh, with just the right amount of cream cheese frosting. The curbside carryout staff is friendly and professional. I've seen them legit run from car to car to take care of everyone in a timely manner. Love this location! read more

I don't know what the deal is here; food is average, service is middle of the road, and prices are a little high for what you actually get. The Steakhouse Mac and Cheese bites were not bad. Poor Experience/Communication The layout was the same as any other, as expected. This makes it easy knowing where everything (e.g. The bathroom) is. We were greeted by the hostess. She was nice enough. She sat us promptly, but didn't give us silverware. Our server didn't notice this either. I got up and went to the hostess station and asked for three sets of silverware. She said "Three? Ok." and then proceeded to hand me four. She literally heard me clearly and confirmed, yet handed me the incorrect amount. Our server was another problem. She asked if we wanted more bread, but never brought it even though we said we wanted some. She also couldn't explain how mac n cheese is billed. We wanted a side order for our toddler. Apparently they don't have side orders. They bill you for a kid's meal. That's $6 for a mac n cheese!! Even if you want a side portion. This wouldn't have been as big of a deal if she just explained that the business didn't have an option for a smaller portion at a lower cost. I can say that the manager FINALLY came after about 20 minutes after the server told us he was coming. He did end up comping the cost of the mac n cheese. That was a nice thing to do, even though we weren't asking for it. I doubt we will return to this restaurant. read more

We came in a large group of 14. Made reservations, and our tables were pretty much ready on time. Service was slow, but understandable for a large group. I usually get the Prime Rib, which is always excellent, but this time I wanted to try something different. I got the Ahi Tuna Sesame Salad. It was pretty flavorful, delicious :) We were here celebrating a birthday. After we were done eating, the birthday girl opened presents, we all hung out and talked to close to closing time. We have gone to this Outback a few times, both eat in and take away, and have always had a pleasant experience both food wise and service wise. Until our most recent visit, I was unaware of their lunch menu. I mean, I knew they had one but I didn't know it was so affordable and that they had tacos and stuff. I got those tacos (steak) and they were pretty yummy. Oh, and they changed their kids mac & cheese which has always been one of my favorite things. The cheese sauce seems to be mostly the same but the noodles are different. Still not quite as good as the original which is sad. Anyways, nice to have another semi-affordable lunch option. I just wish it wasn't so freaking fattening. Your calories are super out of control, Outback...but you're tasty though. read more

We made a reservation online thinking it was going to save time. As soon as we enter, we were given a buzzer and was told it was going to be a while. As we were waiting we got to try some samples of their coconut shrimp and volcano dip. Pretty good. We waited a hour until we were seated. Food was alright. For appetizer, we got the crab and avacodo dip. Hubby didn't like it, I did! Hubby got the 4 course meal which came with soup, salad, full desired entree, and a dessert. His steak had a lot of fat and was not cooked the way he wanted. I got the full rack ribs. Was really delicious, the sauce on it was a bonus. Service wasn't that great. Our server was a tad snappy, but we got our food in a timely manor. I would say this place is alright. read more

We drove 30 min to go to THAT location after a friend's recommendation. Totally worth it! Ordered salmon, unfortunately they cook it "medium" so I had to send it back, but they nailed it. It was AMAZING! They did cook my husband's steak perfectly! The manager, Kenny, was walking around, greeting and asking if people were satisfied. This was professional and NICE! He even walked us outside and opened the door. His attitude alone won this restaurant new customers! We also had a great chat with the lady who brought out our food. In Frederick for some shopping & stopped at Outback for a Ribeye. I decided to go with Ribeye because it is typically tender & juicy any place you order it. Not so, not for me, this time at this place. It wasn't terrible, just disappointing for Outback. The staff asked and I told them about my disappointment. They "comped" me a dessert & apologized. Nice folks, good waitress, but a tough steak. I'll probably choose another restaurant the next time I'm in Frederick. read more

Ridiculous. Did a call ahead 40 minutes in advance only to be told the clock doesn't start until you check in with the server.

What an experience!!!!!! To begin with, after placing our order my wife got up to go to the restroom. She only got 4 steps from our table and slipped and fell. It seems the flooring material is very slippery to start with as we noticed our feet sliding when we were shown to our table. The people at a table near where she feel also noticed the slippery floors and said that they walk next to tables and hold on to them when entering and leaving. She has ended up with a fractured patella and will be in a knee brace for several weeks. Hopefully it will not require any surgery!! We told the manager about the flooring and we did not get a sense that they really cared to hear about the complaint. They did offer her an ice bag to help with the swelling. Part of our order was an appetizer of Steakhouse Quesadilla. What a disappointment. There was hardly anything between the tortillas. The menu says stuffed full..... If what we got is stuffed full, hate to see what a normal one would have in it. Will not be going back until something is done about the flooring material. At a minimum I would hope that they post a sign warning people about the type of flooring materials and that it can be very slippery. read more

Since moving to Frederick a little over a year ago, we have nothing but good experiences. We have always sat in the bar area (at the tables though) and service is always fast and accommodating! Sadly my favorite place to get steak gave me a rock hard uncooked potato and didn't bother supplying the sour cream etc toppings I asked for ... Cheese fries had unmelted cheese and most everything was cold. Really disappointed. I hope this downward spiral isn't commonplace. read more

"Delivery from the FREDERICK OUTBACK --POOR BEWARE!!!! Give your business to other steakhouses or restaurants!" Ordered on a Friday night at 8:45pm. The Order was to be delivered by 9:45pm. I NEVER received my food order!! I called the Outback and after being placed on hold twice.....a manager finally came on 10 minutes late. He said the driver delivered my order on time at 9:45 at my address. Seriously (the food IS NOT HERE)? He believed his driver. He told me that he would credit my $100 order, but the grills are all OFF and therefore, I would not get any food now. I asked him to follow-up with the driver to find out WHERE he delivered the order and that IT IS NOT HERE. It took an HOUR for the order and $100 worth of food!!! And I LIVE less than 1 mile from this location!!! The manager was not solving a problem. He just wanted to kick me aside until the next day! If he cared, he would have contacted the driver and told him to go back? Take a photo? Check the address and order to ensure it is AT THE CORRECT ADDRESS??? I am very upset and angry.! There is NO ACCOUNTABILITY. The MANAGER is horrible!! He should not be running a service business. I told the Manager that this is unacceptable and they clearly have no quality check system. That his excuses were poor and that I would contact Outback's Corporate Office to file a complaint. He said they won't do anything but send the review to him!!! I placed an UE order. I couldn't customize the order on UE, so I called the restaurant immediately. I spoke with the takeout representative, who ensured me my customizations wouldn't be a problem. Well, nothing that I requested was done. When I called to speak to the manager, she said I'm sorry, but you shouldn't have ordered through UE, you should have ordered directly through us, we do delivery as well. But how would someone who rarely orders from you all know that, and like I told the rude disrespectful manager, it doesn't matter what platform I ordered from, I called and spoke to one of your employees. The nasty vile manager was trying to over talk me and make excuses for why my order wasn't correct, said it was my fault and she can't do anything for me, and at least I'll know for next time, and if I want a refund, call UE. I never even asked for a refund, i just wanted an acknowledgement and sincere apology. In today's time where it's hard to make money, I would've thought the manager would have been better trained. I told her I'm sure she wasn't trained to be disrespectful and make excuses, but rather just to apologize and see what they can do to make things better. I will never order from this restaurant again, or your company, and I hope that horrible manager is coached and reprimanded correctly. And I would like to speak to someone from corporate, as she made my issue not only worst, but she escalated my feelings from disappointment to anger and frustration. The manager tried to speak down to me, attempted to make me feel small. I told her that I have a PhD, I am not stupid, and she didn't have to speak to me that way. My family loves Outback! We use to go all the time and now we order delivery a lot , which we never had any problems with. So tonight my sister in law and I ordered some food to be delivered. The food Got to our house in a good amount of time. When we opened our food I realized my side was missing. So we call and tell them just to let them know. They were so kind and apologetic. They sent the driver back to our house to drop it off, who was also very sweet and very apologetic. They gave us dessert and a gift card for our next order. Went there with a group of 14 to celebrate an 88th birthday. We did make reservations for 7:00 PM on a Thurs. evening. and realized there could be asmall wait. After 40 minutes, they had to break us up into two groups but booths side by side. From there on, the evening was special. They comped us two large samplers and 2 bloomin onions. Most ordered the special - steak and lobster tails. Everyone raved the steak was great and cooked to perfection. Lobster tails were also delicious. My experience here was terrible, and I mean that in the most respectable way. From the time we were greeter up until we left. We were greeted promptly by Johnathon R, which is a plus, but then it took a while to get our drinks. In fact, it took so long to receive our alcoholic beverages, that the bartender brought my drink over. It took about 15 minutes to get our appetizer and then five minutes later we received our entrees. My boyfriend's ribs were so hard that it was a struggle to tear them apart. We called another server over who told us that this was the third time she heard that complaint. On top of that, my boyfriend had a hair strand of an arm's length in his food. It was just a horrible experience. The manager comped our check and was very soothing to us but we will give it one more shot. One star because the other servers and managers were eager to help although they knew we were disatisfied with the service and food. read more

I decided to get the GREAT BARRIER COMBO which turned out to be the worse. I was disappointed with the crab cakes that came with the meal. Those were the worst crab cakes I've ever tasted. I would not recommend anyone to get Outbacks crab cakes even the manager said after I complained that their crab cakes weren't the best. My recommendation is that they need to discontinue serving them. I will never order from there again. read more

Stopped by on Wednesday night. Restaurant was not full and did not appear to be overly busy. Hostess sat us right away, but at a table that issues. Very unstable and we asked to be moved. Hostess was not happy we requested another table, ended up in the bar area. We sat for over 10 minutes and were not even acknowledged. As we got up and left, I spoke with the manager about the delay and why we were leaving. The manager offered over and over to cover the meal if we would stay. I explained it was not about the cost of the meal , but more about the lack of service. read more

This was a terrible experience at Outback last with my wife one of our kids and 2 friends. First we called ahead to check the wait time for a group of 5 and sat on hold after being transferred to the host for 20mins. It took them 20mins to answer a simple question. We spoke to Paul and he said 45mins. We let him know that we just sat on hold for 20mins already and that it was crazy to have to wait that long. He said I'll get you a table in 20minutes ask for Paul when you get here. We get there and are greeted at the door and we give them our name and ask for Paul like we were told and the host said I see your name it will be 30mins. Again we said we would like to talk to Paul he told us 20mins. She said oh ok I'll note that. We wait out side which I'm shocked that knowing you can't have people wait inside that you don't have any kind of heaters outside for your customers to wait under. 35mins later we finally get our table and sit down. We order drinks and a couple apps and as much as I love the Bloom and Onion I see why they only charge $7.99 for it now as it's probably half the size and taste. We start ordering our food and they are out of there Twisted Ribs. So I order something else which was a steak and shrimp. After about 30mins our salads come out. Like what took so long for a two salads to come out. Once dinner came out my cheese fries were warm at best my shrimp looked like they had been cooked at least twice and my steak was luckily the way I like it but warm at best as well. I was never asked how I wanted my steak cooked either. As we are eating we notice the manager going to every table asking everyone about there meals I'm assuming that's Paul but never stopped at our table once. He went all around us though. Finally as we are ready to get the check and I ask for it along with one more drink and I'm told that it's a 3 drink max. Like seriously? When did we put rules in for how many drinks you can order. This entire experience was terrible and I know places are doing there best with COVID and all but this very very poor at best. I told my wife as we were leaving I love Outback but I honestly have no desire to go back again or at least to that one. read more

Salty and tough...those are the 2 words I would use to describe the meal I had. I ordered the lobster tail and sirloin special. Great price (14.99), but I guess you get what you pay for. The steak was really hard to cut, even with a steak knife. Others who ordered it said the same thing. To the chef's credit, it was cooked to the degree I asked for. And the lobster--also tough--how do you make a lobster tough? Maybe chewy--too chewy--would be a better word for it. But, the worst thing was the salt. Everything was over salted. Even the butter to dip the lobster in was so salty (like they added tons of salt to already salted butter), to the point that I couldn't eat it. If it hadn't been for the oversalting, I might have been able to overlook the toughness and given more stars. And the service...the server kept mixing up orders, whether it was food or bills or the credit cards used. She never came back to ask if everything was okay (if she had, I might have said something about the oversalting, and, if nothing else, I could have gotten regular melted butter). And, what is with the servers who think that they automatically get whatever change was left on the gift card used to pay the bill. I had to ask to have the change returned. Despite the poor service, I left a decent tip (since the server was pleasant), but less than I wold have left if she hadn't tried to keep my gift card balance ( which would have given her a 40% tip). Clue to servers reading this--if you try to choose your own tip, you'll end up getting less. I used to love the Outback, but, this one, anyway, needs a new chef and more attentive servers. THIS WAS THE BEST STEAK I HAVE EVER HAD! if i could i would eat here everyday! The apps are so good,and always taste the same which makes me feel like a can trust them to always serve me great dish. This was one of the worst meals I have experienced. The fried schrooms were the only decent part of the meal. The lunch deal offers a burger. The burger is a frozen patty that tastes like the freezer. The least they could do is cook a fresh burger. The bun was old and breaking into dry bits. I could not finish it. The peanut butter cake had to be sent back as it tastes like a refrigerator. The cake was stale and dry. We were offered free appetizers coupons and left them on the table. Not going back again. DO NOT waste your time going to this restaurant. The other lunch deal purchased was a quesadilla and it was bland, dry and had no taste. The menu stated it should have cilantro, peppers, etc but it was cheese and tough bits of meat they called steak. I cannot stress enough how sad this experience was. read more

Thank you Outback for reminding me why I try to avoid chain restaurants. Service was very slow even though restaurant did not appear busy. Our waitress would check in but then disappear when something was needed. The French onion soup was best part of meal. When the entrees finally arrived my husbands steak was under cooked. By the time he received it back the rest of us were done with our meal. And he was charged an "up charge" for the sauce on steak. My salad was average, lettuce was so cold I thought it was frozen but steak on top was good. Kids ribs were good for my son but my daughter didn't finish the Mac and cheese as she said "it tastes weird." Unfortunately, just an average dinner that cost $$.
