This is your standard Outback. Food was as expected. There was a suggested beer pairing with a specific meal. I am a fan of Rogue brews, but was told they didn't have any, yet it was on a printed menu. So that was a bit surprising. Food was good- as expected from this national chain. We left our credit card accidentally in their holder. We discovered that when buying gas the next day. We went to Outback to check, and sure enough, they had it waiting for us. Dinner for Birthday, it was awful! My party ordered steaks, and none were cooked to order. My salad was delicious! But the rest of the meal was not good! I have been coming here for years however my visit on Friday was the most disappointing. 1st off my meal which was scheduled to be out at 11:40, didn't come out until 12:33. I was not happy at all about that. The biggest issue lied in the salmon. I ordered both salmon salad and seared ahi tuna. The tuna was acceptable because it's not fully cooked but the salmon, which had a great flavor, was completely cold and raw in the middle. I would expect to have done for especially if it's over 30 minutes late. This will of course affect my meal choices when I stay in Lumberton. I was a committed Outback customer but after this experience I am concerned that if I hadn't paid attention, I would have eaten raw fish.... not a good experience. read more

First off, my experience was a take out order. 50% of my horrific experience is due to my own fault. 50% is due to the staff of Outback Steakhouse UGGGGGHHHHHHH. I called ahead and ordered up some salmon, veggies and a Sprite. I give them the time allotted before I busted up in there to claim my meal. Guess what, no damn Sprite. Ordered for curbside service. Was a bit chaotic, obviously due to the current circumstances. The food was warm, but the bread on the Philadelphia cheesesteak and chicken sandwich were soggy and the bloom petals were "steamed" and not crispy. When we opened the bag we had no silverware, only two napkins and we had a side order of broccoli that we had to eat with our fingers. Yes, this is a chain. And yes, it has not historically been one of my favorite chains. But we stopped here tonight on our way to Florida and were throughly charmed by the service. The food is what you expect, but this Outback is fast, friendly, spotless and convivial. We came here based on the recommendation of our front desk clerk and we were NOT SORRY! We make this trek twice a year and usually end up feeling we would have been happier at McDonald's, but we really enjoyed our meal tonight. Steak I had was good. The loaded mashed potatoes were definitely worth the extra $1. The staff was OK. Waitress didn't bring a refill of drinks or offer more bread and ours ran out. We traveled through Lumberton NC on our way to Florida this winter and decided to order take out from Outback on Wintergreen Drive in Lumberton NC. We placed our order and was told it would be ready in about 20 minutes. We waited an hour and a half! When we got the food back to our hotel which was 3 minutes away our food was cold and items were wrong. After complaining to the manager, Mandi Parker, we were told we would receive a credit on our credit card. It has now been 3 months and no credit! That's NOT the way to do business! WAS my favorite restaurant in Lumberton, but the service has become so flakey. It's hit or miss. I first fell out of love with Outback on a visit when our waitress wouldn't even come to our table, and the food runners did more than she did. At the end of the service she asked if we were paying with a gift card, so it dawned on me that she didn't think a couple of college kids would be eating there other wise, and probably didn't think we were going to tip her. Her wish was granted (it takes a lot for me not to tip someone)! To top it off, there is no continuity on how the food is prepared. Sometimes I get an awesome steak, so I asked the cook's name, and it's when Miguel is working, then other times it's under or over cooked. Today, the service was horrible. The food runners had no clue where the food went. We ordered cheese fries for an appetizer and they were overcooked. How do you overcook fries? They smothered my boyfriend's ceasar salad in dressing and he couldn't even finish it (not the 1st time). The food and dessert took forever, and I heard "I'm sorry" way more times than I could stand. My steak was wood fire cooked even though I asked for classic seasoning. The manager gave us dessert for free, which was nice, but he had plenty of staff on an average day, so I would hate to see how much he gives away on a busy Friday or Saturday night. Stopped here because it was within walking distance of our hotel. Had to sit in the bar since they had let most of the waitstaff off even though it was still early. Waitress had to clean our table even though we were seated. She was very friendly but obviously stressed. Food took.30 minutes to come out. Steaks were cooked as requested, but food was poor. 9oz sirloin was smaller than I've had at other Outbacks. Food was obviously thrown on the plate and we were each missing our sides. Speaking of sides, the steamed vegetables were mushy, overcooked and had a bad aftertaste. Felt very bad for our waitress..not her fault they were understaffed and the food was poor quality. The hostess was very polite. The bartenders were very friendly although not the most attentive; one of them looked like she was wandering around lost. My mini milkshake which was the first thing ordered took 15 mins to arrive. The butter with the bread tasted like it was freezer burned. I love the bleu cheese vin which I ordered with no onions but I received balsamic. They brought me a new one with onions. I love Outback's homemade croutons and have never had a complaint, but these tasted like they were made last week. The cheese on the french onion soup was barely melted and certainly not a bubbly brown like most french onion soups. My side of asparagus came out 10 mins after our meals were served. My boyfriend had wings as his entree which he only ate 2 of because they were tough and chewy. Nobody asked about the fact that he didn't eat them. The food runners never knew where the food was supposed to go. They even gave us someone elses food twice and the bartender had to take it away. It was very distracting and kept interrupting conversations repeatedly. All in all what was supposed to be a good dinner and a relaxing break from our road trip ended up being a completely sub par and disappointing experience. I usually order the outback special with mashed potatoes but one bite into the potatoes and I was eating the plastic bag it came out of. We reside locally and we've visited the local Outback on several occasions, leaving more times than not because the wait was more than 45 minutes. The times we stayed should have conditioned us to the fact that this is not a good place to dine. More often than not, the food is either too highly seasoned---even when that is not part of the menu description, cold, or not as ordered. Obviously, the restaurant thrives on the 1-95 thru traffic and has no desire to acquire a local clientele. Tonight was no exception. Wait was overly long. Waitress incredibly rude. Dinner was tossed on the table, not served with any hospitality, as well one item being as not as ordered. And the check was promptly delivered to the table after we ingested the last dinner morsel. We were never asked if we'd like desert and coffee. When we complained to the waitress, she disappeared and some poor girl obviously pretending to be the manager came to our table and apologized. Had she been in charge and not a shill, she would have been able to deduct a percentage from our bill for poor service. Salad arrived 20 min after the steak and fries. Her excuse was the salad crew was backed up. We are from lumberton and had couple bad experiences at this location couple of years ago. We started driving to Florence to Longhorns or roadhouse after it opened. Since the virus and shutdowns we began trying Outback again and food was ok. We always place online order from our previous order so it's the same. Generally ask for extra bread but rarely get it so I started asking once there for pickup and that seemed to work. Tonight I place order for pickup. Two bone in ribeyes one with baked potato. Got hone and we had ribeyes but not bone in. Got two 2oz cups of cinnamon butter that generally comes with sweet potatoes. We ordered it with all items listed like butter, sour cream, etc. none of that in the bag. I mean for $60 bucks most every Friday and sometimes more you would think you would get what you order and pay for. But it simply shows me why I started going elsewhere which we will be doing from now on. read more

We visited this location while staying at the Hampton Inn, located around the corner, which is within walking distance. We have been at this location before. We were seated immediately upon arrival, our waitress was at our table within minutes. We ordered, waited, and then, disaster happened. We heard a crash and immediately said to each other,"I hope that wasn't our food". Well, not 2 minutes later the owner comes over to our table and apologizes, saying our food was knocked to the floor and they would have to refire our dinners. Okay, stuff happens. So we wait for our food to be refired, at least 6-8 more minutes, maybe more. The disappointing thing is we were not even given a free round of drinks for our inconvenience, not even a complimentary dessert. Not very happy with our experience this time. I never typically leave reviews but I felt this time was more than necessary. This is the first time I've been out since getting acclimated with the new quarantine laws. I decided that I wanted to indulge in one of my favorite restaurants in Lumberton. When I went to outback, there was a bit of a wait and because of the new quarantine laws, we had to wait outside and also, it was VERY hectic and busy. The high light of my visit was actually my server. It was apparent that the restaurant was short staffed during a very hectic rush hour. One server in particular, Tailee, was one of the best servers I've had in a long time. Tailee not only went out of her way to take care of our table and constantly check on us and accommodate our needs but it seemed she was taking care of just about every table in the restaurant. The best part was her positive attitude about it all! She was very determined to accommodate to everyone's needs. I can tell Tailee is very dedicated to her job and a very hardworking young woman. When asking her how she can possibly keep her cool In all the chaos she simply responded "it's what I do and it's what I love, i just want to make sure paying customers are getting what they need". Had an 8:30 dinner on a Friday night. Service was excellent, had a great waitress, Tai. Food was excellent, we got served promptly, but were not rushed at all during the meal. I had the filet and lobster and both the steak and the lobster tail were excellent. It was our anniversary and the manager came by the table and wished us a happy anniversary (33 years) and comped our dessert. First off, The food is what I would rate as good(C+) to very good (B+). I got the Queensland Chicken and Shrimp entree and my friend got the perfectly grilled salmon. The waiting time was average and we had a incredibly nice waiter. If you are coming at lunchtime I recommend that you don't get any quesadillas or nachos with steak meat if you don't like lots of fat and gristle. My nachos(first time ever came here) had strips of fat on the side. However the pasta entree(shown on top) was TO DIE FOR. The chicken and shrimp were both MELT IN YOUR MOUTH. We came at lunch and the prices were a bit on the expensive side but worth it. When my friend cut into her salmon it fell apart in pieces like a delicate flaky succulent freshly caught fish. The spices and salt on the chicken were a bit much but I just wiped some of it off and ate the rest. I recommend that if you want a good meal for lunch go ahead and go for the Queensland shrimp and Chicken or fresh salmon. Both were delicious. Plus there was plenty of fresh brown bread with fluffy butter. Mmmmmm. Again, my first experience was disappointing but when I tried their Queensland dish my opinion changed. Also, be prepared to bring a decent amount of money. The restaurant can be a bit on the expensive side but worth it. And if you don't like fatty dishes go for the chicken, fish, or shrimp entrees because the chef likes to leave fat pieces on the steak meat(my only gripe) and if you don't want it too salty ask for less salt(this was the only other issue here). Other than that the chicken and shrimp I tasted were melt in the mouth. Another thing to keep in mind is that some dishes aren't served with bread(like the salmon) so save some of that brown bread or you'll have to ask for a extra side of bread. Also, the salmon does not come with any DIPPING SAUCES. That includes TARTER SAUCE. Be prepared to ask for mayo or honey mustard sauce if you are ordering any seafood entrees. Yeah that's right...most don't come with dipping sauces unless you have a sauce that the menu says is specifically on the entree. Tricky tricky. Other than that I liked the eating atmosphere. We haven't been here in a year or two so we thought we'd give it a chance again. We sat in the bar section which was good seats and this was at 3:10 today. Never saw our so called waitress and the other waitress working in this section checked on two different tables in this section. I asked her if she was our waitress and she said no. Ok no problem but our waitress has yet to show his or her face and after 10 minutes another couple sat behind me and the girl that wasn't our person goes to them !nd ask if they just sat down.
